reaaallyyyy good. just 1 little point of improvement, turn off the motion blur. it's sickening. other than that, iam giving you a solid 4.5!

devio 2018-08-13 17:35

Not too fond of this one, had to come to the conclusion by myself I have to pick up + click. No real gameplay in this other looking at the screen and doing what it says. I don't feel like there is enough time to do anything and think either. I may have missed the point of this unfortunately.

j0ye 2018-08-13 17:48

Im not really sure what this was. The game felt good, graphics were nice but simple. My character wouldnt walk, but i didnt pass the clock test anyway. And the PC way too **** anoying. You tried to make a GlaDOS like AI, but you just made an ****

nihilaleph 2018-08-14 00:01

Thank you all for playing and the feedback!

@denneledoe Ohh I didn't even think about it! Thanks! I'm going to just leave it for now (rating time!), but if more people complains about it then I will change it.

@devio Sorry it wasn't that very clear, I added one more instruction to the page! The challenge is keeping your desk organized enough (it ___is___ a very limited space) so you can complete the tasks in time~, or just throw everything and go brute force :stuck_out_tongue: I'm sorry that wasn't clear enough :pensive:

@j0ye Yeah, he is not supposed to walk, imagine he is attached to a chair  Sorry the PC was too annoying though, I was actually worried if it was too annoying, but I needed to give it a personality otherwise it would be too boring, so that's what I ended up with :sweat_drops:

felipeallmeida 2018-08-15 00:24

Remind me of the stanley parable in a way. I like it very much, just the start i wasn't able to figure out how to press the the buttons. Figure it out after five minutes trying haha

michael-feldman 2018-08-15 00:24

Very interesting. Vibes along the lines of Portal and Statik. The premise is kind of funny. The mechanics are simple but work well. Quite impressive.

shredmer 2018-08-15 00:37

The only one that seems to kill me is "Would you kindly press the clock button the number of sequence xxxx?" On my sheet I only had 1 sequence with that pattern each time yet with only 1 clock button click I seem to fail. Not sure how to pass that.

Other than that I enjoyed the game. Although this is more of a one time play through for me. Overall I found it enjoyable!

nihilaleph 2018-08-15 10:32

Thank you all for playing and for the feedback~ I'm glad you are enjoying it!

@felipeallmeida I'm so sorry for the confusion! I just updated the game changing a little bit the wording so hopefully it is now clearer that you need to hold it before pressing it  And @michael-feldman Yes! I was going for the lab/office environment feeling

@shredmer Oh, it actually means the number corresponding to the sequence, not how many sequences there are of it  But yeah, I didn't go much for replayability for this one, but I'm glad you enjoyed it nevertheless!

punisherxa 2018-08-16 02:19

Nice Game! I loved the simple graphics, and the computer, it's a little bit hard to find out how to play correctly at first and the theme it's not so simple to see at first. This game inspired me!

juno 2018-08-16 05:54

Liked the game! I think that it'd be more fun if objects didn't get knocked away when you grab objects sometimes, and you can't go pick it up, but I'm not sure how I'd fix that problem. Maybe a way to interact with objects without grabbing them?

nihilaleph 2018-08-17 13:21

@punisherxa I'm glad that even though it was a bit obscure you enjoyed it~

@juno Yees, I was having some problems on that, and I even teleport the object so that it avoids hitting any object in it's track, but once it's in your "hand" I can't stop any collision from happening  Picking objects from the floor was out of the question (except nearby ones) because then the player would have "unlimited" space to manage the objects. Also interacting without grabbing any object would mean that the player can just leave everything as is and not have to manage anything, so the end result is what it is  Anyway, I'm glad this didn't stop you from liking the game :smile_cat:

poffle 2018-08-17 14:04

This was an interesting idea but could be better suited to VR. The picking up mechanic took me some getting used to and the strict time limit had me failing too much. I wish the computer was more forgiving. I picked it up and chucked it at the wall though so that was fun. Throwing everything was fun really. It was quite an enjoyable experience overall just wish I had more time to do each task. Good job!

laura-angel 2018-08-17 14:55

I have mixed feelings with this game! On one hand I like the idea, but I feel like it needs more time so you can properly adjust everything to the player's needs, sometimes the time you give is not enough, also it would be appreciated if you told how to interact with the objects, since it took me a few minutes to realize. Also it would be nice if the buttons wouldn't get tossed around so easily since then it becomes a little hard to continue with the instructions. Anyway, I get that it's a game supposed to make you feel stressed, so good work and original idea!

captaindreamcast 2018-08-17 15:51

Well if the thumbnail asks me to play this kindly, who would I be to refuse.

Very smart take on the theme, you really need a couple runs until you figure out the optimal placement for all the items. I guess a little luck is necessary too, I always threw away the ball and cylinder, and luckily they were never part of my final trial rush. Very fun game, would volunteer to be test subject again.

killing-kitty 2018-08-17 18:42

Very fun little game of trying to find the right stuff att the right time, while trying not to be electrocuted, poor subject 41 tho... (I do belive that the game would be easier if the screen was stuck onto the table, I lost so many times because i couldn't read what it said because it was on the floor behind the desk)

tokumei 2018-08-18 05:26

That looks like so much fun, I wish there were a Linux build :(

nihilaleph 2018-08-18 08:04

Thank you all for playing and for the great feedback!

@poffle Ohh VR would be a good idea, though I don't have one to actually test it  @laura-angel Sorry about the time! Perhaps I playtest it for too long so the time for me was fairly easy! Maybe add difficulty selection? On other note, I tried to make the instructions clearer by changing the text a little and adding the instructions in the page of the game, do you think it's not enough? Would you suggest something else to make it clearer? BUt you're right, you are supposed to feel under pressure in this game, sorry it didn't give you a pleasant feeling

@captaindreamcast Glad you enjoyed it! Since the ball and cylinder are very easily to be lost I ended up making that task happen only once  But still if you completed it and drop them by accident in any other task you would get electrocuted!

@killing-kitty Ohh that's part of being careful with everything on the table, and you ___can___ move it to a safer location, if you need  But I could've add a respawn of the screen given I had the time :sweat_drops: Thank you for the advice!

saoi-games 2018-08-18 08:44

I tried to play your game my stream tonight at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames, however I couldn’t capture the game play.

I have rated your game.

I struggled to figure out the controls, and just kept getting electrocuted over and over again. Once I learned how to pick up and interact with objects there instructions were not clear. I got myself soft locked a few times when the buttons were in the way of the sphere and so it rolled off the table. There was also a point where I followed the directions and still was shot at what seemed to just be out of the researchers pleasure.

I'm sorry I couldn’t get it to be captured on the stream properly.

nihilaleph 2018-08-18 10:03

@tokumei I'm so sorry I could'nt make a Linux build! I'll try to make one as soon as I can (and learn how to)! In the mean time, I uploaded a video with the playthrough, if you just want to check how it is~

@saoi-games Oh, I'm sorry to hear about the stream, though it's an honor to be featured  Sorry about the controls being a bit obscure, I will try to add some clearer instructions when I can! Also I'm not sure why you were shocked even though you completed the task... Maybe you couldn't finish it in time? In any case, thank you for playing the game!

gabsep 2018-08-20 04:13

I'm really impressed lol this was the first good 3d game I've seen so far

matank 2018-08-20 05:42

Really cool concept, had a lot of fun with this!

Two problems I had though:

1) Took me a long time to figure out you need to press left button while holding the object to interact. I think it would be awesome if for the first task (press the blue button) the computer would actually wait until you do it, or maybe even remind you of the controls if you don't do it a few times, just to make sure the player figured out the controls before you advance to the more challenging tasks.

2) For some reason the computer didn't register I fetched all the black books (or maybe I missed a black book or something). Would be nice to get a better feedback of what exactly was missing about the task (was I supposed to do anything with the books after fetching them?)

nihilaleph 2018-08-20 09:25

Tahnk you all for playing!

@gabsep Glad you enjoyed it!

@matank Sorry about the instructions being a bit obscure, next time I will try to be clearer and do what you suggested! Maybe on the book task you didn't interact with them? Thinking about it now it's also not very clear

@tokumei I made the Linux build, couldn't test it though, I hope it works!

mza 2018-08-20 13:26

Quite fun. Took me a while but i finally realised how well you implemented the theme. Quite innovative and fun. The lack of background music adds to the ambience. Maybe add sound effects everytime you do something good too in an update.

Overall, quite enjoyable.

bustosman 2018-08-21 06:37

Decent game but I always get shocked whenever I'm asked to do a second button sequence, causing me to die later on. Am I supposed to press a button that corresponds to the letter each sequence, or am I supposed to press different ones each sequence?

nihilaleph 2018-08-21 06:53

Thank you for playing!

@mza I lacked the time to add bgm, but I also think it is more fitting this way  I also added a low hum (actually the sound of my HDD  ) to give more immersion!

@bustosman There is a difference between buttons sequence and color sequence, I think that's the issue

vekstr 2018-08-21 10:16

I got so annoyed at the PC that I threw it so fast it bypassed the collider and got flown out of the room

nihilaleph 2018-08-24 07:59

@vekstr While testing it was very satisfying throwing things XD

demn 2018-08-24 09:14

Overall good game ! Liked how you used the concept for something very peticular, it was quite funny. The game is good without music as it actually feel more "real". Only music that would have fitted would have been something really ironic like smooth jazz imo.

My only "complaint" would be that you can bash away the computer giving the instructions, which results in well, end of the game :D thus we can't really play, but that's a part of the game to actually being able to throw it haha. Throwing things is, indeed, quite satisfying :P Good job !!

merpader 2018-08-24 16:16

really funny but sometimes I don't get the instructions all too well

nihilaleph 2018-08-25 22:15

Thank you for playing!

@demn Ahh yes, I had an idea afterwards that if you lost the computer you would be punished by one electrocution but then you would be given a new one, but oh well, I will keep that idea for the next one

@merpader Sorry for making it a bit obscure  I will pay more attention in the text next time!

adonisdevs 2018-08-27 00:32

That was rough! I had fun throwing stuff all over the place. Very fun physics. The objective of the game was sort of confusing, like sometimes I'd do something and hear a sound that sounded the same as the electrocution sound. Something to indicate health would be useful. Overall, very good mood and fits the theme well :)

rahim-pxr 2018-08-27 00:42

Nice game, I hope to see more updates and improvments sooner. If you don't bother take a look at our game when we focused on Graphics and visuals and see the results that we got: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/spacelab-42

thepiratenun 2018-08-27 01:33

That was a super cool game! I loved all the comments on the screen, they really added to the character of the game. And the camera view and interactions were very smooth. Overall, great job!

nihilaleph 2018-08-28 01:23

Thank you all for playing and enjoying!

@adonisdevs Electrocution meant you didn't make it in time, and I didn't want to have a health meter so not to break character of the game, I guess...? But also no time for that  @thepiratenun The physics is basically just the default of the Unreal Engine, but the grabbing and interaction mechanic I made from scratch :smiley_cat:

renier 2018-08-28 06:54

Was nice just weird to have to pick up and click, liked the visuals and this take on the theme!

kutase 2018-08-28 20:05

Nice concept of 3d game!

dovakla 2018-08-28 21:57

This is pretty fun! It took me a while to realize how to interact with the buttons at first (I tried to hit them with the mug), but other than that everything was self-explanatory.

I think I was able to pass without balancing the sphere on the cylinder though.

nihilaleph 2018-08-29 05:38

Thank you all for playing!

@renier Ah yes, I intended to just click an object to interact with it at first, but them you could just leave everything on the table and click, without the need of lifting anything

@dovakla  Yeah, the main issue from my game is teaching to do the first interaction, I will be more careful next time~. And yes, the sphere and cylinder is just required once, since it was very easy to loose them, and you get 3 strikes before fainting, so if you it is totally skipable

big-cow 2018-09-01 11:53

Great concept, well-executed. Nice graphics, good mood, good fit for theme. The use of physics worked well with the gameplay. Just encountered a couple of what might have been bugs (on Windows version) - sometimes the lines of text on the computer stopped before being completed and moved straight onto the next line. Also, sometimes the electrocution came right after an instruction finished, so there wasn't enough time. Might have been because it was running slowly on my computer. Otherwise, again, great concept and mood.

nihilaleph 2018-09-03 10:45

@big-cow Thank you for the feedback! The printing is done with a delay between each concat of the letters in the string, so maybe the delay is taking longer than intended, and the timer for the next phrase/task is started at the beginning of the printing, so that's probably the issue. Sorry for not foolproofing that  I will keep it in mind on my next one!

riperieri 2018-09-04 12:39

This was a really solid game. Was a bit annoying acccidentally dropping things out of range, but I managed it in the end. I think in the winning run I managed to place the sphere inside the cylinder, then they both launched into orbit and I didn't get penalized. Maybe it was that impressive. ;)

I understand the confusion with picking things up before pressing them, but that was really the only issue, and it was temporary. Good work!
