LD38 — A Small World

Toy Run by TimBeaudet 2017-05-15T00:38:58Z

I loved the art and, above everything, the music and sound effects. It's cool that you managed to make more than one level. The controls weren't great, but I enjoyed the game anyway. Congratulations! This is very professional work. Nice!

A Small World by akai_0okami 2017-05-16T00:22:30Z

Oh my god, this is my favorite entry so far! Very original theme and mechanic. The music is superb! It really fits the theme. It kind of reminded me of Ryan Ike's work on Glittermitten Grove. Maybe the diversity of things to make could be expanded, but please make this a full game. It made me feel very relaxed, as well. Congratulations, team!

Fancy meeting you here by Local Minimum 2017-05-03T01:06:29Z

Very interesting. I loved the concept.

Final Front: Planetary Defence by coomzy 2017-05-13T22:17:05Z

Great game, I really enjoyed it but I had to stop after wave 30 or something because otherwise I would have played forever. It can be improved in terms of sounds/music and graphics and maybe modify the difficulty curve after a while. However, it's great, like and old PC classic or something. I love what you've accomplished.

Natantes Paradisum by strong99 2017-05-16T00:06:53Z

Beautifully crafted. Congratulations! I loved the menu for building and the palette you chose for the game. The gameplay works, although you run out of game very quickly. Anyway, great job on overall aesthetics and implementing the game mechanic. It's flawless. What I didn't like is that although the musical piece you used worked in terms of style, the loop felt unfinished (too short and always tense).

Ecowsystem by concalf 2017-05-13T22:30:07Z

Lovely, fun, very well polished. Great work! One of my favorite games, so far!

Throw by somethinboutgames 2017-05-03T00:20:21Z

Interesting, simple and yet, challenging. I had a lot of fun playing your game. I liked the sounds you used, but maybe the piano wasn't very fitting as a musical resource (or the tune).

Overall, great job! I'd love to play this game again in the near future, if you decide to continue working on it.

Minos' Pond by Reflextions 2017-05-16T00:59:58Z

Very nice! At first I thought I was going to play something to close to Earthbound/Mother, but I'm glad It was something totally different. Very interesting. I liked the controls and the fact that you could also zoom in/out with the mouse. The graphics are neat and cute as hell. The sounds you picked were great. Maybe a nice tune playing in the background would be nice. So, anyway... I'd love to play the complete version in the future!

X-Pressed Delivery by GabrielBucsan 2017-05-15T00:49:40Z

I liked the concept and the 3d environment. I feel, however, that after delivering a couple of gifts the lack of challenge makes you lose interest. Maybe some music was needed to suggest some sort of narrative. Anyway, congratulations on thinking outside the box.

Bad RNG by FiloGC 2017-05-15T01:01:23Z

I don't know anything about computer science and I didn't understand the main objective or the whole purpose of the game. I still played it for about 10 minutes because I liked the voice acting and the fan (sounds like I liked very abstract things). I'm sorry I didn't get your game. Congratulations on creating something completely original, though.

COSMOMOMOMOº by NueboMundo 2017-05-15T01:09:43Z

Very interesting mechanics. Kind of hard, though. I liked the sound effects.

Horizons by Joseph Benton 2017-05-03T00:52:07Z

Great game, very challenging, but lots of fun! For a while, I felt like playing an old atari-NES title (I kept losing in the last level, but I still wanted to get to the end. Congratulations. I really loved the music (the loop stops after a while, btw).

Small World of Mine by 0uicmoi 2017-05-16T00:35:22Z

Well, this a little bit personal. My little brother died on a hospital bed, so your game made me cry right away. It's impressive that things like video games or other forms of art can convey or provoke these feelings. It's a ballsy entry for a game jam, for sure. It looks like you achieved something huge. I mean, in a very limited time you managed to create an experience, tell a story and convey a meaning. Most of all: to connect with people.

Now, on a more technical side of things, nice art style. Solid ambience work (in terms of decoration and sound work). What else is there to explore? Maybe if you read the story, be able to read the story. Being able to touch or hold the hand of your loved one could have been good (it's an important part of linking with them in that scenario, it feels like the most important connection you can have with them and in the end, it's one of the things you miss the most).

Anyway, thank you for pushing video games to be more. Game jams need more of these entries.

Bitverse by klekky 2017-05-15T05:01:18Z

Die! Die! Die! kind of game. I had fun playing it after I got a hang of it. Maybe you could improve the map for teleporting. Good job!

It Shakes the World Apart by lectvs 2017-05-16T01:24:15Z

Hi, there, Hayden! Congratulations on your game. It feels very honest and I liked the aesthetic. You really made those happy eyes alive with only a few pixels. Although, your game is already complete, maybe you could expand the adventures of these likeable characters and make something longer, with other mechanics involved. It's a great start. Nice!

My World by C4TFLY 2017-05-16T22:45:50Z

Congratulations on the aesthetic. It's all very intriguing and suspenseful, however I was expecting a little bit more or maybe there's a lot more potential to that dark environment you've created. Most of all, I enjoyed the audio work (music and SFX). Nice!

One issue about shooting: I felt the mouse pointing gun wasn't very precise, it kind of went to one side or something...but heck, that is how my gun would work in a situation like this. So maybe if you continue developing this game (you should!), maybe you can add some more stuff (like in Legacy of Kain or something like that). So back to the gun..., yeah...if the gun is not all that fast and precise, at least you can run to a place, talk to a survivor (or read his/her notes), hide/explore a cave, whatever. I'm just making up stuff.

Anyway, I enjoyed your game. Great job!

AstroCats by kipelovets 2017-05-13T22:24:01Z

I couldn't find anyone to play with :'(

Tiny Invasion by James Hartley 2017-05-15T04:27:52Z

It's not a wildly original game, but the graphics, sounds and music are coherent and nice. Everything works as it should be. Maybe you could adjust the learning-difficulty curve so it starts easy and then becomes super hard overtime. Anyway, congratulations on your game!

STACK by Doc ill 2017-05-15T01:18:26Z

I didn't love the camera, but I liked your game. Congratulations, additionally, on adding some story. I like it when people give some more context to what's going on in the game.

Run the World! by Monty 2017-05-16T00:14:49Z

I loved the Top Gear series, so it was great to try out your game. Maybe the track, distribution or amount of cars need some tweaking to give gameplay more fluidity. I didn't love the sound you chose for the car starting and maybe the car engine sound was missing. Anyway, you kind of achieved the classic feel of these old video games, so congratulations on that!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Fighter Flight Sim by chunkybrewster 2018-04-25T17:03:32Z

I didn't feel like hitting people at first, but then I realized all of them were evil robot clones from the future and I was some sort of Terminator myself, so I convinced myself they deserved it. I focused on punching the glitchy robots (there was one guy with part of his arm inside his belly). I said "take this, you evil bastard" and he replied something like "that's it, I've had it". Or maybe it was another passenger. So, the thing about gameplay some people said...I agree. There's no clear objective. I didn't really understand what the score was for or if I could really stop the pilot from crashing the plane. Also, the flight was really long. Anyway, it felt good that the plane crashed because I probably didn't want any survivors. Good job on the plane recreation and for thinking something weird and new. Thanks for the surreal experience.

Alida of Arx by jsmars 2018-04-25T17:44:18Z

Hey, I played the whole game and had a lot of fun (I lost, by the way haha). I really like point and clicks. You achieved incredible results for a one weekend jam. Congratulations to the whole team for pulling this off. The one and only thing I could say I didn't really like was the inconsistency in recording and output levels for the voice. However, you did have voice acting which is really commendable. Oh, and I almost forgot...you had saving and loading options (which I didn't try). Thanks for the experience! PS: I'll play it again to get the good ending. *cracking knuckles* Let's do this!

Toodee and Topdee by dietzribi 2018-04-27T16:48:13Z

Great mechanics, excellent use of the theme and level design. This puzzle game has a lot of potential.

Jeff From Accounting by Almax 2018-04-27T16:46:17Z

Excellent from every perspective. I can't really say anything bad about it. Congratulations, team.

Harvest Doom by Fiote 2018-04-24T22:36:48Z

Very well done, overall. The art is beautiful and the music sets the right mood. I agree with what another user said about being able to hit your own towers and walls.

Court Invaders by Robber 2018-04-24T03:09:34Z

Wow, super hard. I was right to walk away from tennis. Anyway, funny concept, well executed, nice graphics!

End of the day by Hagge 2018-04-24T16:09:57Z

Interesting concept. At first I didn't like the music a lot, but then I remembered that when I worked in retail they forced us to listen to the same CD over and over again every single day of our lives, so after a few months I had to quit. I think I did better in your game than in real life, though. Oh, yes, back to your game. I'd say some tweaking is needed in terms of balance. Have you played Papers Please? You can really feel a progression there, but here I didn't really see stuff happening after a few days. Keep working, at it. I think there's potential in the psychological aspect of your game. Well done.

Definition of a Ghuest by Sand-Gardeners 2018-04-27T17:11:48Z

WOW. What a claustrophobic experience. I loved this game as an artistic proposal. The whole experience was super weird and uncomfortable. Although I don't like feeling like that at all, like trying to run away from something, rarely a game confronts you with yourself like this, like how it feels to read a book, to be in your thoughts, to participate in the plot and to feel immersed and compromised. Congratulations. This is one of the Ludum Dare experiences I'll treasure forever and I'd love to see more from this studio. Also, you made an excellent use of the theme.

F.P.S - Frootz per Second by Albuquerque 2018-04-25T03:17:32Z

What is this madness?! I love it!!!! I played for way too long. As a cat owner, I can absolutely relate to this. I don't know why. Also, it feels so good to be able to hit that damn computer. Also...a very relaxing experience. Wow. What a ride.

Gender Circles by EkkoEkko 2018-04-25T02:58:31Z

A great example of "less is more". While the mechanic seems fairly simply, this game is fun and challenging enough to make it interesting. I really enjoyed playing it and would play it again. Congratulations!
