LD39 — Running out of Power

Nightlight by KevinTheTuna 2017-08-01T16:44:16Z

That was pretty intense, when you hear the chirping of the enemy orbs. That combined with the simple bass track and I have to say the music nailed the atmosphere perfect. It wasn't immediately clear how to keep the lighthouse powered, but it didn't take much to put two and two together. Thank you for the cross-hair by the way, a few fps games I've played in this competition have missed that. My only complaint is that the game is almost long to the point of tedium as the mechanics don't really shake up over the course of the game, but that's a small thing compared to the rest of it. Great job!

Robo Climb by pyrosneak 2017-08-07T23:51:15Z

What I liked:

-The sounds were cool -The gameplay loop was simple and fun -The art and characters were nicely done

What I didn't like:

-The attack animation seemed to separate the striking arm from the rest of the character -Having to hold the directional button to attack, as the character doesn't face in the direction I leave him facing.

Altogether the game was fun and hit the target. I enjoyed it! Thanks!

The Journalist by mato26 2017-08-01T17:18:54Z

I tweeted you! Ha! But, no, that was a really clever mechanic. I had a lot of fun with what could have been a super-simple typing game. I enjoyed the theme and the art, though I will say that I didn't get running out of power from it, but I really didn't need to. Besides the theme, everything else was pretty much 5/5, clever, fun. I enjoyed the sound and the art a great deal. Awesome job!

Pain That Binds Us by Jungle 2017-08-08T00:26:01Z

That was incredible. Playing this game was truly a joy. A stunning experience that got deeper and deeper as I went along. This is everything that I'm looking for in games writing smashed together into a beautiful tapestry. The overall length is the only indication I could find that this was done in only a weekend. I cannot praise this game anymore. Fantastic.

V-Empire by GabrielBucsan 2017-08-01T02:44:28Z

I definitely enjoyed the art. It was a little unclear which villagers were the ones to avoid at first, but you get the hang of it. Felt satisfying to turn into a bat. It took a few lives for me to get into the groove of feeding on the peasants. There were a few times where they didn't spawn or spawned just a bit out of my reach.

The Shutdown by Silas Reinagel 2017-08-03T01:25:28Z

I certainly had fun with it. A very good job to do in such a short amount of time. I enjoyed the art and the music. The level design was really good (It's easy to see bad level design in RPG Maker Games) The writing was on-point and I really think the little touches you add here and there brought the entire project to the next level. To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't care at all to see a full endeavor by you guys, you seem to know your stuff.

Alien Swarm by oxrock 2017-08-01T01:41:35Z

Nice. Really liked the turrets. Game started real easy because I thought I could just have the turrets do the work for me, but I was wrong. The only problems I really had was that aiming felt a bit unresponsive. A targeting reticle would have been perfect. Just a simple UI image with a script to set its transform by wherever you store the info for where you're aiming.

Project Sunspot by AntaresValdemar 2017-08-03T01:32:32Z

I'm going to start this by saying thank you for building this in WebGL. I've run into a good many Unity projects on here that would have worked great in WebGl but I had to download/unzip/unrar.

The Game:

Dark and super creepy. It kinda reminded me of the old Sierra-style adventure games, in vibe and art if not mechanics. Really nice and atmospheric. The actual gameplay was serviceable, but given the time and resources I'm sure you could do something really awesome with this.

Goo-Boy and the Maw of Darkness by Pandanym 2017-08-01T01:52:44Z

This was awesome. Short and with a nice little punch at the ending. The only place I dinged you was on theme, but overall, in terms of the jam, you're a 5/5 in my book.

Science Runner starring Nucleus Poitras by SpotOnJ2K 2017-08-01T02:59:15Z

I'm a bit rusty with the platformers, so I had a tough go of it, but those sound effects were hilarious. Very fun, very challenging. If the burgers were meant to do something, I couldn't figure out what it was. If they were just for decoration, that's a nice red herring to throw in. Honestly I would play again for the "Ouch!" alone.

Engolasters January 2021 by Deconstructeam 2017-08-08T00:06:50Z

Wow. This game was truly gorgeous. The art was breathtaking, and the writing was fantastic. If I had one thing, it would be the the truck handled a little weird, but it was a very small problem in an incredible game. I wanted to be fair and judge you on the build you put up before the deadline, but now I'm going back and playing the full one just for the sake of doing it. Thank you for the experience.

Lost Light by DrewG8 2017-08-01T02:17:16Z

This was brilliant to play. It's amazing what can be done in three short days! The only thing that got me was the GameMaker watermark in the corner, but that really can't be helped and doesn't detract from an awesome game. The only improvement I would make it allowing the player to hold down the key to move, I wore my finger out mashing those arrow keys. Great job!

ULTIMATE PROSELYTISM & MIRACLES SIMULATOR 2017: THE MOVIE THE GAME by Reuh 2017-08-03T01:40:50Z

The game was really well written and hilarious. If I had anything to complain about, it was that the platforming segments were a bit tedious. It wasn't always clear what route you needed to take and it was sometimes frustrating making your way up certain obstacles. Aside from that though, superbly fun and terribly clever. Thank you for making this.

Five Nights in Biah Village by Ye Yu 2017-08-01T16:58:30Z

I don't know if this was intentional, but the hours start at around 2100 and count up. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do with that. I got three of the endings, but I wasn't sure how to survive or whatever I had to do for any of the others. If there is a time limit, it would be nice to be a little bit more clear on what it is and how it works. Aside from that, the music and sounds were cool and I liked the art.

Lichometer by Kade 2017-08-01T02:50:31Z

The music was fun. It would have been nice to have a little bit of affordance at the start to familiarize the player with the controls, but they were simple once I looked them up from the menu. The art was great. The only thing I really missed was some real feedback when hitting and being hit.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

H3X F0R H1R3 by cakeknuckles 2017-12-06T00:09:40Z

This is one of my favorites this Jam. Hands down. Incredibly well put together and very original Loved the game. I only ran into one bug. Right before I would have won the first time around, I had the game freeze on me and the attachment sound effect looped rapidly. I waited for longer than I may have in another game just because I thought it might be part of it. That's the only negative thing I can say here. Great work!

TOO MANY CATS! by ramza 2017-12-06T00:36:43Z

@asellio You lose cats when they stray too far from the scene.

Can't Save Them All! by Robert Newman 2017-12-05T23:50:55Z

Whoa! I was a little bit surprised when I kicked this on. This was super ambitious, yet you've managed to put together a cohesive experience in spite of the gravity of what you were trying to put together. Very well done. My only complaint is that the controls got a bit wonky a few times and one time it prevented me from finishing. Aside from that, awesome for a jam game slapped together over a weekend.

Edit: I just read the bit where you mentioned you were a team of six. Less impressive, but slightly so. Still a great effort.

Pacific Parkour League (PPL) by alexpritc 2017-12-05T05:06:46Z

I found myself playing this for way longer than I thought I would. Deceptively challenging and surprisingly fun.

Group Game by rowanbane 2017-12-06T00:22:36Z

The best thing about this one were the sound effects, they were hilarious. It made the game feel really fun. My biggest problem was that the jumping felt a bit weird, like you shot up very quickly then sort of floated back down. It was partly because of this that I went through the ceiling in one section and ended up falling out of the map. Other than that, I would suggest making sure all your UI elements fit into the resolution you're building to. It's a bit of a pain to do, but well worth it. In unity, just make sure your game screen is displaying your target resolution during testing. The only reason I bring this up is because of the overlap of the buttons between levels. Altogether, though, good job guys. It was fun.

Sniper Protector (re uploaded) by ostoru 2017-12-06T00:13:09Z

Reminds me of the old Flash sniper games. The handling was a little wonky and the perspective switch from scoped and free view was too much for me to switch back and forth between them.

Gophergeddon by Ham and Swiss 2017-12-05T04:56:53Z

Took me a minute to figure out what was going on. An interesting concept.

Vikings 3000 by Zachary Petersen 2017-12-06T00:35:43Z

Interesting concept. I think you really nailed the theme. I certainly enjoyed it.

LD42 — Running out of space

Sphere by Ntimi 2018-08-14T16:34:48Z

I ran until I got bored and then a little further. I don't really get the point of this one, but some of the sprites are super clean and the music is good. Also, it seems to miss the mark a bit. This time last year, the theme was 'Running out of Power' and this would have fit that perfectly, but the theme wasn't that and it really missed the mark.

NO MORE ROOM IN HELL by panurge 2018-08-14T16:25:39Z

Really like the meta-humor in this one. It's very clean, well put together. If I had one suggestion, it would be some kind of affordance to let you know how many lives you had. It's pretty easy to figure out after the first time or two. I got as high as 187, just 13 away, but I had already played too long and I really can't take the time to finish, as much as I would have liked to see the end. I'm just not quite good enough to get there.

Really great game, really enjoyed it. Just a little tough for me.

Descension by Dragojt 2018-08-14T16:10:38Z

It won't unrar for me.

Descension by Dragojt 2018-08-14T17:04:45Z

Very clever puzzle design, and a clever take on the topic. Well worth the wait to get this one working.

Let me some space by Narudgi 2018-09-02T23:27:20Z

Really great art, wish there was some more game, but this was really cool.

Black Market Nostalgia by boyTurnedRobot 2018-08-14T17:18:26Z

I have mixed feelings about idle games in general, but this one was well executed and I saw it through to the end. I don't really see this as an interpretation of the theme, but I dug it nonetheless.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Gelato HRMS by Kyle Farwell 2020-10-11T02:19:41Z

This was incredibly well done, particularly from a technical standpoint. The humor and writing was absolutely on point. Awesome!

On the Phone (2020) by Linus Lindberg 2020-10-11T01:59:38Z

Very interesting take here. I think it has some interesting things to say. I'm really interested in how you integrated the news feeds. Are you accessing an API somewhere, or are you pulling the RSS feeds that way?

Zog's Hopeless Abyss by ramza 2020-10-05T21:00:22Z

Excellent work! I absolutely loved the textures. I also love the beholder hovering over the map. Very well designed!

You Are Going To Die Today by GeraldFIngBurke 2020-10-09T17:46:49Z

@mandy858 Thank you! I enjoyed the heck out of your game as well. Really solid puzzles!

You Are Going To Die Today by GeraldFIngBurke 2020-10-09T17:47:56Z

@arron-fowler Thank you for giving it a chance. I know walking sims are low hanging fruit, but this was my first real attempt at a 3D game and it seemed like a good place to start.

You Are Going To Die Today by GeraldFIngBurke 2020-10-09T17:49:47Z

@tauheed-game-dev Thank you! I think we ended up with pretty similar takes on the theme. I absolutely loved the humor and references in yours. The art was cute as hell too.

You Are Going To Die Today by GeraldFIngBurke 2020-10-09T17:51:40Z

@criggles Ha! My friends that proofread my script got a kick out of that one too. I have Peng's New Ting lined up in my queue for after work!

You Are Going To Die Today by GeraldFIngBurke 2020-10-09T17:53:30Z

@firetwoonenine Thank you for playing to the end! I was hoping my writing would create some replayability, because the gameplay is too flat to do that on its own. I have Gelato HRMS bookmarked for playing. I'm actually really excited about that one, as I love that style of game.

You Are Going To Die Today by GeraldFIngBurke 2020-10-09T17:55:23Z

@eugenik Thank you. Stoked about playing Frozen Potency later. I don't think I've ever seen a schmup use that perspective. I'm probably going to get my ass handed to me!

You Are Going To Die Today by GeraldFIngBurke 2020-10-09T17:57:53Z

@etrealjunior Thanks for the feedback! Most of the posters in the room are from games that my friends have made. I even put a picture of me making the game in unity on the laptop in the game. I had a lot of fun with that part. I have Resurrection on my playlist for this evening, so I'll be sure to leave you some feedback!

You Are Going To Die Today by GeraldFIngBurke 2020-10-17T14:06:24Z

@aduro Yeah, I spent a good half day trying to get the controller to work. Where I was aiming for the compo, I settled for good enough. I also ended up not using reference for my models so stuff like the toilet and sink were a bit janky. After a certain point, I started just modeling in Unity, so things didn't really get much better. Thank you for the note about the writing, that's sort of where I've been placing all my hopes for this one.

A Night Around the Fire by arron-fowler 2020-10-07T21:39:44Z

I had a hard time with the hiding. It didn't really seem to work if I was within the search radius of the aliens. So it felt more like a stop and wait til you don't hear the noise kind of thing. Altogether it was an interesting game. It was well put together and I love the touch of him hanging his head as he passes his friend's ghost.

Fancy Trash by sebastianscaini 2020-10-07T21:51:57Z

This is perfect for me. If they decide to let me pick the jam winners this time (still waiting on a response to my email) you'll absolutely be my top pick. The only gripe I could possibly have is that my cursor didn't lock, but literally everything else was perfect.

WORK ROUTINE by ROBOWARRIOR1982 2020-10-08T21:27:21Z

Thank you for stopping me! I'm not sure how many loops I would have done if you hadn't. I kept looking for ways to break the loop! Very good premise. I also loved the character animations. I even found outrunning the bus to be funny in its own way. I don't know if this is intentional or not, but the newspaper date stays the same. At first I thought this was a game about the daily grind, but I almost feel like it's someone trapped in limbo, reliving the drudgery of their life over and over again. The pills and the alcohol give me that impression. The only thing that doesn't fit is that you get progressively more money as you go.

Altogether a very good experience. I enjoyed it.

WORK ROUTINE by ROBOWARRIOR1982 2020-10-09T17:16:45Z

@robowarrior1982 Oh, man. I got a totally different read from that. I'ma stick with my headcanon, but I do appreciate the explanation.

Looping Gazelle by Maxime Cyr 2020-10-08T13:04:35Z

I had a lot of fun with this one. The puzzles were great. I ended up getting a few extra keys because I got really into trying to solve the puzzles. I wasn't able to solve the rune one using the clues, so I got it with trial and error. The design of the maze was great too. There were a few visible break points where it was obvious I was looping around, but there were more than a few times where I saw that gazelle symbol and thought "How did I manage to do that?"

5 Minutes Before Halloween by Glaas 2020-10-08T22:07:48Z

Very well done. The theme didn't really come across for me, but it really didn't have to. I had a lot of fun with this one. It took a couple of tries but I finally got the 'Scary' score.

Space Loop by IndivisibleParticles 2020-10-08T21:30:35Z

The gameplay is deceptively difficult. I've certainly never played a dodging type game like this. I also really appreciate the literal take on 'loop' for the competition. I've ran into fewer than I thought I would.

Dare To Stair by jackalson 2020-10-08T21:56:06Z

I love this kind of game. I managed to fill all of the building slots and get the max population, which was my personal win condition.

Hotel Mobi by TheCreator 2020-10-07T00:39:56Z

Absolutely wonderful. Incredibly atmospheric. It was a great little meditation. It took me a few revolutions to find the charging station again, but it was overall a very wonderful experience.

F#@#! Its Christmas Again by Unicornfrog 2020-10-08T22:12:19Z

This one was absolutely hilarious. A wonderful take on the theme and a genuinely enjoyable, difficult game. Kudos!

Isolation by Tauheed Game Dev 2020-10-07T00:53:57Z

Very well written. Loved the jokes and the references. The art was fantastic as well, and I never got tired of the background music, which is impressive for a game that takes a little bit longer to play through. Loved this!

Purgatory Mechanic by Flawed 2020-10-08T13:12:47Z

I managed to smash this game with a high score of... 1. It's very well put together and a super interesting concept, but it was just a little bit tough for me. I absolutely loved everything from the art to the music, to the incredibly clever premise. Fantastic game, I just happen to suck at it.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Island Management by Pete 2022-04-05T22:33:49Z

Unfortunately, I really didn't get it.

This Mortal Coil by Baconinvader 2022-04-05T20:33:38Z

It wasn't immediately clear that it was turn based, but I may not have been paying enough attention at the start. Otherwise, it was a really great interpretation. The time ticking down and forcing you to be less thoughtful and make more reckless moves as time went on was a really great touch.

Vesuvius by TheHansinator 2022-04-05T22:29:29Z

Absolutely hilarious! Loved the sound effects!

Boulder Rush by SaraMartins 2022-04-14T03:18:05Z

First, I want to compliment the layout of your game page. You genuinely don't see a lot of that.

The game itself, I suck at it.

The play is tight and everything looks and sounds good. I just couldn't get very far. Still, great game and well executed.

Dont Sleep by PhoenixofForce 2022-04-05T19:44:21Z

Incredibly clever concept. I absolutely loved the eating animation as well. Great sense of humor and very well polished. I'm amazed you did this for the compo! Great job!

12 Hours by GeraldFIngBurke 2022-04-05T19:25:46Z

@noirox @phoenixofforce

I appreciate it! I completely get what you're saying. Each of the pieces of furniture were going to be interactive and the game was going to be more about managing resources as well as time. I had a convention this weekend though and ended up only having a few hours to work. Had to jettison almost everything that wasn't the core idea.

12 Hours by GeraldFIngBurke 2022-04-05T22:05:02Z

@phillip-scott Thank you! I'm glad I did submit, as I very nearly didn't.

@baconinvader I was streaming development while I was working out the character controller. Everyone laughed at how the player was spinning around so I left it in.

@digitaldude555 I screwed the pooch by working on art before the core game. I made the terminal reactive minutes before the deadline and did it the lazy way instead of the right way because I didn't want to have to create more UI to tell the player how to interact with it.

@flying-dog-fish Thanks for the heads up. I got this in minutes under the wire so I totally spaced on the form. It's fixed now. Also, I had to Google that reference. Never got into Lost. I didn't have cable when it was popular and I feel like the buzz around the ending has made it hard for me to go back and try it.

@remicraft I really feel bad about the audio. You really need it, especially in a scene that's supposed to be tense.

@meg4cyberc4t Thank you. I only wish I didn't make it look like this was my first jam game, because the truth is pretty far from it.

12 Hours by GeraldFIngBurke 2022-04-08T14:54:51Z

@hcs-hades I was pretty dumb about it. I had a booth at a local con for my gamedev meetup and I thought it would be neat to do the jam live. I ended up not being able to get anything done for the people coming up to talk to us. Great result for the con. Terrible for the jam. I ended up with a rough design I could comfortably do with 72 hours and I had to squeeze it all into the few hours I had after work Monday.

12 Hours by GeraldFIngBurke 2022-04-08T14:57:34Z

@p-r WASD or arrows. I just stuck with them because they're universal. I'll add a note for it on the itch page.

@bradur Thank you! Ended up with a "9 second timer" because I got lazy with the floating point math and UI.

@lecloow7 Thank you!

The Time Between by RemiCraft 2022-04-05T21:06:13Z

This got me hard. I'm turning 30 this year and having the hardest time being happy where I am in life.

M.A.D.D. by Flying Dog Fish 2022-04-05T20:46:37Z

I reached inevitable mutually assured destruction! Not sure how to feel about that...

The Inevitable Company by Katsuhira 2022-04-11T18:01:51Z

Excellent story. I ended up chasing every ending and finding every branch. I love when a game does that for me.

BOULDER by macaroni.dev 2022-04-14T03:13:42Z

Extremely well done. The myth of Sisyphus is a perfect fit for the theme. I enjoyed how you managed to capture the look and sound of a particular era of games. Honestly wouldn't be surprised to see exactly this running on an NES.

Oedipus Rex by Brachistosauro 2022-04-14T13:05:52Z

Very well done in terms of retellings. The writing is very good. The Oedipus myth is a really great fit for the theme. I also appreciate that you came up with a believable alternate ending for those of us that knew to avoid the man in the cart.

NOT YET by TheGreenWorm 2022-04-06T11:34:58Z

Really great interpretation of the them. Very well made for the 48 hour time window. Honestly it was really solid and polished in general. The art and sounds worked great together. The boss fights were really well designed as well. Number three beat the crap out of me more times than I would like to admit.

Mutating Escapist by Noirox 2022-04-05T19:35:48Z

Definitely dug the Portal vibes. The random mutations were a nice touch as well, but I had a hard time finding a use for a couple of them, like crouch.

The voice over was great, but there were a few places where if you moved too fast or died too fast, it would cut off or step on itself in a slightly awkward way.

Great game though. I played through to the end.

Door Man by Mavvy 2022-04-06T11:40:09Z

Very smart and cute puzzle game. The first thing I tried was letting go of the button as soon as she stepped in the doorway and I'm really glad you assumed I would and accounted for it. It doesn't quite hit the theme for me, but everything else was awesome.

CATch time by Re-Mar 2022-04-05T21:10:22Z

I got it on the first one, but I played again to see what would happen if I didn't. I'm very familiar with that scenario.

Very simple and I love the art style. I disagree with @tulio As someone that grew up with guardians like that, trying to stay out of trouble genuinely feels like delaying the inevitable.

ENDURACE - Drift Or Die by Phillip Scott 2022-04-05T20:29:28Z

I really had a lot of fun with this one. Great concept and great execution. Got spun around a couple times and had a hard time getting back on track, but this was really awesome.

Let's Do Alien Taxes! by BurnsDesigns 2022-04-11T17:32:18Z

As someone that still hasn't filed my taxes this year (US, so it's getting close!) I can relate hard to this. Great game, super clever concept.

MOUSE&CAT by SethNerd 2022-04-13T17:55:50Z

I kept going until I got the mouse "permanently" stuck. Very clever idea. I really enjoyed it. The music got a bit repetitive, but it was fun the first couple of minutes.

Chad Runner by StudioCope 2022-04-05T19:48:15Z

Absolutely hilarious

Fill The Generator by LemonScripts 2022-04-11T17:25:35Z

If I had one suggestion, it would be to make the grab a toggle. The g is just a little bit of a stretch to hold while using the movement keys. Other than that, it was a clever concept. It kinda reminds me of my first LD game https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/midnight-manor

LD52 — Harvest

Verdant by JustinMullin 2023-01-10T02:53:07Z

Everything about this is incredibly well done. It has a very high level of polish. The story and writing are great. I'm sure there's a way to win, but I wasn't able to do it in my time with the game. Honestly the sense of doom felt thematic. Fantastic art, well paced, great sound. This is a fantastic entry. The fact that it's your first is all the more impressive.

HELLGATE HARVEST by kodingnights 2023-01-09T13:49:49Z

The first track was a little long, just given how often it repeats, but honestly it was a nice ramp into the more complex second round. Very good rhythm game, once you get into the rhythm.

Homunculus by Iluvatar 2023-01-09T18:07:23Z

This looks really great. It's very well done. Short, simple, and to the point. Great job!

Harvest Rush by Steven Garberg 2023-01-09T17:00:10Z

11 was my best. Very simple, but there's nothing wrong with that. The first time around, it took me a second to figure out what I was doing, but it was pretty smooth after that. Solid entry.

Mustered by arron-fowler 2023-01-11T03:51:06Z

Could be improved with a better camera, but altogether very well done. I enjoyed this. Left a comment with a photo on your Itch page as well, as that's what led me here.

Harvest Village by Ja_viera 2023-01-10T02:59:42Z

Got the harvest queen my second go 'round. Died on the first because I was trying to suck shield dudes and it took me way too long to realize I couldn't. I do have to say the camera felt a little too far out, but otherwise it looked and played great. Solid entry!

Druid's House by LuizGT 2023-01-09T16:40:53Z

@mortith No clue how you managed! This game was tough! I couldn't manage to get more than three scythes, though that was probably more a failing of strategy on my part. I couldn't make it through, but I did play it for a good hour, so that's definitely worth something.

The Cursed Vest of Soul Harvesting by Frogravity 2023-01-09T14:34:11Z

I really enjoyed the tactical gameplay. This is incredibly well put together and polished. I'm impressed with the depth you were able to get out of such a simple concept.

Disassembly Line by Tsamf 2023-01-10T03:23:43Z

I had to face Dr. Shelley's Wrath and, ngl, I ain't scared.

Forked Up by Paroxysmal 2023-01-09T15:35:23Z

28 days. This is the longest time I've spent on a single game in this jam. I would complain about how grindy it gets, but honestly if that was actually a problem, I would have stopped playing. The difficulty curve is great and the action ramps up as you get your upgrades. This is an incredibly well done entry. This is the kind of platformer I like to play outside of the context of jams and it's just absolutely solid in that regard. Well done!

Wheat Master by nyxkn 2023-01-09T17:54:01Z

Untitled.png

I'm a huge fan of idle clickers, so I found a lot to enjoy here. On point with the theme and everything looked and sounded great. The 6k yield upgrade seemed superfluous, but I'm a completionist, so I had to get it. Great game!

Specter by ForceElementZ 2023-01-09T16:56:11Z

Looks great, a lot of fun. Could definitely use some more variety, but what's there is well executed.

Repear by Waysneighborgo2 2023-01-09T17:15:01Z

Took me a minute to understand what I was supposed to be doing, but after I got the hang of it, it ended up being pretty fun. It's a clever little platformer and fits the theme pretty well. The scythe attack was weird, but it's a jam and that kind of stuff happens.

Organ Trail by maymay 2023-01-09T14:06:30Z

An organ harvesting game idea ended up on my cutting room floor this jam. I'm glad it did, because this is an absolutely perfect interpretation of the idea. Very funny, a lot of heart(no pun intended). I absolutely loved this. I think this is the first "perfect" game I've played so far. And a compo entry no less. This definitely deserves to place.

Final Harvest by GreyNovemberGames 2023-01-09T16:51:12Z

The art is incredible. Very good, simple concept. I have two thoughts/suggestions. Not every door could be interacted with. This is fine, but a little bit of feedback would help, like a sound that indicates the door is locked. The other is that one of the buildings in the top right of the map didn't do the roof cutaway like the others. Other than that, this is a great entry. The visual feedback for the impending storm was great. If anything, it could afford to ramp up maybe a little more towards the end. Awesome submission!

Wheat Run by simsax 2023-01-09T18:10:03Z

Not bad for a first entry! Very simple and well done. Maybe not a whole lot there, but for the time constraints and knowing that back story, this is a really solid entry. Kudos!

4 Harvest Bags by kenneth-dd 2023-01-09T17:25:55Z

Almost got it on my first go round, but the rng gods said otherwise. Got it on the second though! A very hectic game, and a very interesting concept. I played it on PC, but it looks like it was designed with mobile in mind. There's definitely not enough web based mobile games out there, so big time kudos for that.

Boar'd'Hell by Blublu 2023-01-09T13:38:42Z

Very well put together. Clever concept. My brain is too smooth to handle the multitasking, but that's more on me than the game. My only complaint was having to fire up Chrome, but there have been worse tragedies in human history.

Down to Earth by Chum Chum 2023-01-09T15:41:50Z

I'm way too scatterbrained to multitask like this. But that's me. The game itself is really tight, fun, and a very neat concept.

Soul Harvest by twilightrh 2023-01-10T03:08:36Z

Neat game! I love the concept of the grim reaper flying around in a soul-powered rocked. Feels like a parable. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to make the enemies a little bit more consistent. Felt like I kinda had to wander around to get them to spawn.

Desert Harvest by math_daemon 2023-01-10T02:17:28Z

The art reminds me of a 90s era RTS in a very positive way. Beyond that, though, I kinda felt like a hat on a hat. I wasn't sure if I was actually helping or hindering by carrying the little tank boys around. I may have missed the point, though.

CelestialPersperation Hollow by derpygamer2142 2023-01-09T14:25:20Z

My only two complaints were the fact that the crops took a little too long to grow and when you had a bunch of crops to sell, you were barraged with the coin sound hundreds of times in a row. Other than that, solid entry. Good job.

Backyard Fruitball by twchapman 2023-01-09T17:04:19Z

My first round, I didn't realize I was controlling both characters and could not, for the life of me, figure out what I was doing. The second go-round went a lot better. A very simple and fun idea.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

The Roads Away by harark 2018-04-24T13:26:03Z

If I had one glaring issue, it was that I couldn't find a way to return to the main menu, so in order to try out all the characters I had to reopen the page in the browser. That said, well done. Very well put together game. I'll have to go back and check out the game this one is based on.

ULTROÏD by Geckoo1337 2018-04-23T16:08:11Z

Everything looks and sounds really good, but this just feels like a well polished breakout clone.

Heartless Ninjas by King Kujito 2018-04-23T15:53:34Z

I was really impressed with this. The seeming randomness of the spotlights was a little bit frustrating. But you've struck an incredible balance, forcing players to weigh their security against their mobility. Very clever.

Heartless Ninjas by King Kujito 2018-04-23T16:37:44Z

@King Kujito Yes. I had a hard time timing my route because I couldn't figure out where the lights were going to be.

Heartless Ninjas by King Kujito 2018-04-23T16:58:26Z

God no! If you start fixing everything on a jam game you'll shoot yourself in the foot. The game was great as it was. I was just looking for critique points.

Jeff From Accounting by Almax 2018-05-03T01:01:13Z

Just another person jumping on to tell you how great your game was!

Golf with Guns by Issac 2018-04-24T14:02:04Z

This idea was thrown out when we were brainstorming. I'm really glad we didn't do it, because I can't really see how we would have competed with this. You guys nailed it!

CardDunTris by jcwelgemoed 2018-04-24T14:28:28Z

I like the idea here, but I had a hard time following some of the action.

Discard by CruelMotivator 2018-04-24T13:17:12Z

This was really fun and I loathe rhythm games. I had about fifty percent accuracy. The music was really cool too.

Officer Pain - The Smash Cop by DaragonGames 2018-04-24T13:51:49Z

The art and design are hilarious, but it does feel a little flat. However, you made a fighting game that works with a reasonable level of complexity within a few days, so hats off to you. It worked!

The Big Spy Fiction-Comedy Mashup Game by karmo 2018-04-24T13:35:50Z

Maybe these games just aren't my bag, but I wasn't able to get too far.

Flappy Typing by Frodewin 2018-04-23T15:59:17Z

I'm going to be honest and say that I sucked at Flappy Bird. I also suck at this. But I do think what you did with it was clever and the game itself was technically executed very well. I want to say that I don't like the seemingly random level of responsiveness when typing, but I don't know if that's the game or just me. I like what you did, though, and it is good, just not my cup of tea.

Swap Swamp by Le Slo 2018-04-24T14:21:58Z

That was really awesome. It took me a minute to realize that the way to refill water was to match water tiles. Very clever.

Where's Waldy by Dartictheunic 2018-04-24T14:35:12Z

This was hilarious. Difficult at first, but that's fine by me. Loved the concept.

Cloak Wars by slotha 2018-04-24T14:13:28Z

I've been playing game with an egg timer to make sure I didn't spend too much time on any one thing. I turned it off for this. Really glad I did. Great game, fun story.

@Akanthaur As a co-developer on the project, I can officially confirm your statement as canon.

Cyclevania by Allen Oliver 2018-04-24T13:00:39Z

@reuno @ooku I totally get you. It took me an hour to beat it and I already knew what to do.

Cyclevania by Allen Oliver 2018-04-24T19:03:11Z

@HagamosVideojuegos If you follow the catapults up to the top level, you shall see!

@SNOK TROK I'm sorry that was your experience.

GAZBUSTER by jiukka 2018-04-24T14:25:30Z

I didn't have a problem getting it open and running, but it was super laggy. I couldn't really play it.

Endless shooter by theBOSS12 2018-04-23T16:11:36Z

Aside from not really seeing the theme here, I did enjoy this one. It was a little vanilla, but it's a whole lot to do in two days. Bravo.

LD59 — Signal

The Union by GeraldFIngBurke 2026-04-21T03:01:30Z

@cloverfall Thank you! I used the vanilla web stack for this, so it wasn't hard to get a decent looking UI pretty quickly.

@arada Thank you!

@pastmoments That's solid. I was worried about that and tried to put together an explainer tutorial, but it was just more text

@greenradiation Absolutely fair. It is kind of a lot. It's a tough balance with this genre. If you go too deep, it alienates people, but if you go too shallow then it gets really obvious you're just moving numbers on a spreadsheet. It's probably why this kind of game isn't super common in a short jam.

@squimmy I feel that completely. It's a lot to jump into and hard to tell where to start. I can also tell you right now it isn't balanced at all. I did a few tweaks in the last build for the really obvious stuff, but it's a real challenge to execute something like this in the time.

The Union by GeraldFIngBurke 2026-04-22T12:55:33Z

@csuth17 Thank you so much! Honestly, I thought about taking each region down to 3 cities, and maybe even consolidating some of the regions. Because the implementation complexity was such that adding more regions and cities didn't complicate development, I kinda overdid it.

@drainkid Thank you! Yeah, it does get to be a lot. I noticed that in playtesting, but I was against the wire and didn't want to cut so much that I broke something. I think after rating is over, I'm going to simplify the map a bit.

@dogshroom I've been a web dev for years and a friend has recently gotten me on board with using the web stack. We both focus primarily on narrative games, so most engines are overkill, and the ones built for IF often get in the way. Web is just crazy good for 2d narrative and strategy games.

There was a point after I'd implemented most of the core systems that I realized this game would be incomprehensible if I didn't explain some of it. I hate that it basically had to be an info dump, and it probably means I was doing too much if the systems weren't self-explanatory. But it was a lot of fun to build.

Robo-Miners by Wizard 2026-04-28T01:35:36Z

Definitely had a hard time keeping control of the ship. This kinda reminds me of Rings of Saturn. Great concept!

Klat Shat by Xahon 2026-04-28T01:39:05Z

Very nice! Puzzles are tough, so this being your first one is very impressive.

Crawler Of Doom by nightchild 2026-04-21T16:40:41Z

This was an interesting take on the genre. I had a hard time with some of the controls. Didn't seem to be able to turn most of the time. Doing a multiplayer game like this for a three day jam is still very impressive.

Signals and Points by squimmy 2026-04-21T17:08:45Z

This was incredibly well done and polished. A 'nice-to-have' would have been a way to set up switch automation. Honestly, you might want to take this one beyond the jam. It scratches a very specific itch.

Null Signal by OnlinE_Play 2026-04-27T15:22:15Z

That was brutal. I didn't get very far. I like the concept, but maybe the signal degradation could go a bit slower? It might just be me, I'm terrible at platformers.

Love Caps by Wouter52 2026-04-20T23:55:36Z

This was absolutely adorable. Loved the fact that you got the point across without hitting the player over the head with it. Screenshot 2026-04-20 195418.png

Numbus Crossing by Mavvy 2026-04-27T15:14:46Z

Phenomenal entry! Loved the music, super cute art. I did hit an issue where a bird rear ended another and it caused a fail state, but that's a small problem.

Searching for Signal by BalimaarTheBassFish 2026-04-27T15:35:09Z

Awesome work! Absolutely loved the hand-painted art style. The atmosphere reminded me a bit of Oddworld. The soundtrack was also phenomenal. Stellar entry!

The Terraformer by Cloverfall 2026-04-21T17:12:29Z

I absolutely loved the voice in this. Game is absolutely adorable. Love the little robot dude just out here doing its best.

СtРaНge SiГнAL by vlaflya 2026-04-21T00:22:25Z

I absolutely love this. Also, I'm a native English speaker and the translation worked perfectly well. It's a beautiful, weird little piece of art.

Lost Focus by Helslo 2026-04-20T14:22:17Z

Great work for a first jam! It was a little bit on the tough side for me, but that could just be me. The mechanic was interesting and the way the puzzles built up worked out. If I could change one thing it would probably be to show the player looking down, even when they're grounded. Took me a minute to realize I could shoot down, which ended up being a game changer. Awesome work!

THE HORSE WE MADE by cesta 2026-04-27T15:49:59Z

This is some high concept stuff! Particularly enjoyed the 'drink' scene. That could just be something inside of me, though.

GHz: WEE by Entink 2026-04-27T15:41:26Z

The mechanic used here ws genius. I really enjoyed this. I did get locked on the second level because a baddie was basically permanently on top of the spawn point. Really great entry!
