Really enjoyed this. Love the Papers Please inspired gameplay. At first I thought I could just enter anything in the form, but then I realised I need to look up from the documents. Very interesting take on the theme!

I love this type of game. The music was super cool, but unfortunately, it is not looping. :(
Also, the graphics are great and the handsome alien is really handsome, lmao.
Haha what a fun game. I wish my taxes were like this in real life. It had a very Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy feel to it. Great stuff!
I hate ... doing taxes. But I played ... thoroughly filled out your forms. Cool idea. I haven't done mine yet, delaying it.
+1 Graphics -1 Could not sign form after putting values in all yellow fields
The realization that I had to scour the documents for the information was really fun, and I enjoyed reading all of the hidden fun text on the documents. Well done!
Haha, nice. I managed, but it took a while. Of course would be nice to get on top of the pile when I take a document but I guess time... Nice idea for this topic. Liked the graphics and especially the photo :alien:
Love the immersive design on the itch page and (since apparently I'm masochistic) the concept overall! I managed to fill in everything right (although some things were a little hard to see sometimes). I love the choice of fonts and the little pieces of humor. Good stuff!
nicely done! fun concept! even in full screen mode, the text was sometimes difficult to read on some of the documents, but then i realized that wasn't the important info. i really liked how the theme is implied, and not all out there in your face, like so many other games (including mine..)! loved it! well done!
Lol that was funny, nice job. I would have loved to see what shenanigans would happen with filling the form out wrong, but the jokes and humor in this was on point. Nice work.
As someone that still hasn't filed my taxes this year (US, so it's getting close!) I can relate hard to this. Great game, super clever concept.
I agree with @anaxie-studio that the design of the itch page is indeed immersive. I liked that a lot. Maybe it's a good idea to give the player a hint or indication on what is wrong when unsuccessfully trying to sign the form.
Like the Paper's Please style of it, good humor. Wish there had been a way to zoom in more other than full screen. Great job!
Hah fun detective game! Got a nice mood going on. I think I got everything right in the end, but wasn't sure - the tax agency didn't tell me. But that's what they do I guess.
Would have been fun to have some extra interactions / red herrings / options. But nonetheless a fun start!
I love this so much! I've never had so much fun doing taxes. I wish there was a way to change the sorting order to bring some of the forms forward, but this was easy to work around by just shifting everything to the edge of the screen. Great work, solid entry.
Very funny and fun! I took my time reading through everything so the music (which is great) stopped looping, but other than that it was a real solid entry. It deserves that coveted criticism: what is here is amazing, it just needs more. Great work
@cryptomnesic I fixed an issue with validation in the "Home Planet" field, as that was tripping a lot of people up. The field was case-sensitive and also some write "Planet Name" others wrote "Name" without the word Planet. Now its no longer case-sensitive, and with/without Planet will work. Should make it easier for everyone
@all Thanks so much for all the support/feedback!
I never thought I would have this much fun doing taxes. Super silly. I liked it a lot.
Probably as funny as doing taxes can get, great job! Also awesome to have you on the stream today! Here's the link if you want to rewatch it: https://youtu.be/LUs4mltqVVw
Was pleasantly surprised with how interesting this puzzle would be. I do wish that either the documents themselves were bigger but you could choose what to move to the foreground or there was a way to zoom in to be able to read as I had to get very close to the monitor even in fullscreen to try and read some of the documents. Some feedback would also be nice as to what you had wrong with the tax form as I got stuck for a little bit until i stumbled on the right thing.
@sirred Thanks for the feedback. I totally agree. The size of the fonts are far too small, even with maximized screensize.
I was initially really against sorting, and moving documents to the top, as I believed the gameplay was about space management for the papers and shuffling them around. But seeing peoples reaction, the fun was more in the solving the puzzle of the documents and the silliness of it all. So, if I take this further to a small demo game, I think I'd include moving documents stack order.
I ran out of time for the Incorrect-Entry-Feedback. I'd love to have had some of the wrong fields flash red, so you knew exactly what you needed to correct.
Fun idea. Some parts were a bit unclear, but I eventually solved it. As others said, music doesn't loop.
Good job. High marks for humor/innovation.
Hilarious, reminds me of the work done by the Strange Scaffold folks (Airport for Aliens Currently Run by Dogs / space warlord organ trading simulator). Good entry!
Cheers, fellow tax slacker. I like the bfxr sounds. The barely readable bills which aren't sortable, which, I agree, increases the level of realism and insanity of tax reporting. I was absolutely incentivised to figure out which items I can count and how, a nice job with nice jokes :)
@occultone Wow, that is a huge compliment. Strange Scaffold is a big inspiration to me, so that is really kind.
@pcmaster Glad you enjoyed it! I think for a next version, I'll try some variety in text sizes and fonts. I like people hunting for the correct information, but I don't want them squinting and leaning into their screens :)
This was actually hilarious. I need a full Papers Please like game where you're an alien tax accountant.
Awesome idear. The graphics are very difficult to read and honestly I don't know how that fits in the theme?
