That was one huge mitochondria
Lots of memes. I really liked it! Highest scores I've given a game. I hope you win!
aww thanks so much!
The interaction between the characters is fun, but what really makes this game stand out is its educational value. I'm going to send it to my nephew and tell him it counts as doing science homework. :P
@john-gabriel I'm glad you liked it, I hope that your nephew doesn't get traumatized by my game :p
I chuckled far harder at regular-sized tony than I thought I would lol. I enjoyed the game (even if I never read things the first time and so I killed the guy multiple times lol). Overall a good game I like it!
Excellent entry! Loved the narrative, the characters were very well written!
Though I do find it weird that the guy wearing a propeller cap says he wants to blend in and be inconspicuous...
Good old Regular-Sized "The Liver Extractor" Tony, why are my hearts beating so fast?
Such a well written little story, well intertwined with the theme and mechanics of the game. Today I had to carve out the entire right side of the body, to discover that the heart usually sits on the left. My google history log will let you know that I looked up walkthroughs ("mitochondria where in the body") And covering up for missing assets with clever story-telling - Beautiful!
My reply awaits at Old Willow Creek
@fnkee aww thank you so much for the comment, I'm so glad that you enjoyed the story!!! I find it really funny that it seems to be teaching anatomy unintentionally :p
Wow, great game!
Love the idea on the Harvest part, didn't saw any other organ harvesting games so far :o
Great little story, i love the art and the game play is cool and creative.
Overall i ruined one corpse, but thanks to the power of time travel no one noticed :3
Pretty bloody. Good game and good art!
Love the art and story. I have seen some ideas about organ harvesting games in the unofficial discord, but it's way more interesting than I expected!
The game mechanism reminds me of Surgeon Simulator, which "helped" me a lot with my science homework when I was a kid. Ruined a ton of bodies to get a heart, it's a bit strict that you need to make the organ fully uncovered.
Bloody game! But I like it!
Hehe, well, definitely 5/5, but my question: are you medical student? Well, but surely hell of an artist. There is nothing to blame here considering the 48 hours period.
I just died from the shock when the figure in shadows said to extract the bloody mitochondria. I thought, that I will have to use a nanomachine or something xD
I loved this game! Atmosphere is excellent. Story and dialogues are brilliant. Art is amazing! Both in-game and dialogues. To be honest not much criticism to make (5/5)! Maybe having to go slow with the scalpel is a bit annoying. I figure it adds to the mood but I'm always wary about mechanics that make games less fun. Anyway, amazing work!
Love the dark hand crafted art. Dialoge in the beginning super slick!
This game is a treat! Very well done! My only complaint is the gotta-go-slow mechanic, would rather see a mechanic where you have to be efficient while a timer is running, or something. Other than that, awesome stuff and good humor :D
An organ harvesting game idea ended up on my cutting room floor this jam. I'm glad it did, because this is an absolutely perfect interpretation of the idea. Very funny, a lot of heart(no pun intended). I absolutely loved this. I think this is the first "perfect" game I've played so far. And a compo entry no less. This definitely deserves to place.
This game feels like that carnival game where you have to shoot the star out of the card. It always feels like you are one round short.
Really well done. The art is fantastic.
awesome game! even playable with eye tracking :D
That was an experience! I loved it, simple to understand mechanics and intriguing plot. Also good to know that we're not the only team that went to organ harvesting way haha.
Pleaseant to play. Super Zen and also completed a childhood urge of mine. Thank you.
Thank you all so much for your comments!! I'm super excited that people seem to like my game!! Sorry I've fallen a little bit behind replying :p
@adis I'm not a medical student, no :p Just a programmer who probably reads WebMD too much lol
@nyxkn Thanks for your feedback!! I went back and forth on balancing the damage mechanic... I wanted there to be some tension so it wasn't just like scratching a lotto ticket :p But maybe a timer like @frib suggests could be another interesting way to add challenge
@geraldfingburke I'm so glad you liked it, your comment means a lot :) I did see some other pretty cool organ harvesting games also!
@publicidadeba childhood urge to harvest organs? should we be worried? :p
Wow, great and fun game! I really enojyed it <3
Funniest game so far, didn't think I'd enjoy harvesting organs so much! And what a twist at the end haha
This game was genuinely pretty funny! I am not much of a fan of this style of game, but I think you pulled it off really well! The mechanics worked great and its always impressive to see a game from a game jam that has multiple levels worth of content. The twist ending was a nice touch!
Jokes were frequent and fairly funny. Neat concept! I enjoyed making the body into swiss cheese while trying to find the envelope :)
Really enjoyed this one. Very funny and nicely paced. I loved the name of the main character. Really dig the aesthetics!
So well done! The dialogue is amazing, the art style is super unique and captivating and I had a wild time slicing wildly to find the body party I was looking for. Amazing work!
Coooooool game.I was instantly addicted.
Very good and complete game!
I'm usually pretty squeamish, and was hesitant to play this. I'm glad I gave it a try- As odd as it sounds, this game feels very nostalgic, kinda like how I felt playing Va11-Hall-A. That very relaxing feeling of going along for a ride. The gameplay had me on edge in a good way, and it felt very balanced. Great game!
@pazzi I'm glad that you enjoyed it! I was considering making a bloodless setting for more squeamish players but it would have required basically remaking all of the art assets and I sadly didn't have time :p
I really loved the precision I could get with the scalpel (at first I was very much a mad butcher until I realised that definitely wasn't working out). I loved the puzzley take on it, as well as the interpretation of the theme! But my favorite thing about it was definitely the wonderful plot twist at the end!
I wasn't expecting a biology puzzle game, but it's a pleasant surprise. The narrative, too, is far better than any game about organ harvesting should have. Great fun, and well done.
Oh wow I didn't expect this idea from the theme! Very lovely narrative and hand drawn art AND it's a compo entry!! I'm super glad to have come across and played this game, such a good gem.
I loved the narrative between the characters! Depending on how you want to combine the game's mechanics, it may be helpful to automatically extract the organ (or ------spoiler item------) after it is fully revealed so the player knows how much they need to cut.
@rogerw that's a great suggestion! The way that I wrote the logic to determine if an organ is uncovered is kinda hacky (it creates two images, one of the organ and one of the organ masked by the layer of cuts and then does pixel comparisons) so I'm not sure if checking too often would degrade performance...
This is such a well-executed sweet and simple game! Love the art, story, and overall theme. Kind of wish there's a sequel now! If I had to give a suggestion, it would be to introduce an easy mode for people who want to experience the story but struggle with the gameplay (I got too dangerously close to 0% too many times for comfort hahahaha, but maybe that's just on me and my shaky hands lol)
Really nice game, the 2 clicks gameplay feels great and the little story added on top of that is "cute" (i guess) x)
Nice game:
- Good enough graphics - Short enough (although I almost dropped the game on level with harvesting 3 organs, but decided to finish the game) - Funny ending - The game lack some guide on where the organs might be (or I didn't find any), so you just cut it and restart the game - Harvesting organs is a good way of understanding "Harvest" theme. I was sure that someone will make that kind of game, although didn't want to make it myself
@danmerey thanks so much for the feedback! I agree that there could be more in the game to help find the organs. I was originally thinking of having them all scrambled up and having some mechanic where you could probe for them before you extract them. But I ended up just trying to put them in vaguely anatomically accurate places (with some exceptions :p)
BTW Potion Craft is one of my favorite games :)
Hey, I beat the game and learned the little twist. Graphics and vibes are good, I liked the ending and the liitle jokes here and there. Fun one. I wish the story was more complicated, perhaps with a few dialogue choices. And maybe an easy and a hard mode, as the game was rather easy. ;)
Really neat, and I feel like I learned some anatomy along the way! Some of the dialog made me laugh out loud, and I played through to the end. Occasionally I'd get hung up and thing an organ was ready to go when it wasn't (some little white blip hiding amongst a white highlight or something), and the penalty there felt a bit rough, and usually led to redoing the level, but otherwise felt pretty fun! Audio was also pretty great, and non-obtrusive.
Loved the game! The humor is on point! The gameplay is simple but effective. One of my faves so far actually.
