Really cool start to the game! The footage you have of the more advanced level looks really sweet too, love the concept of using sunlight in a puzzle game like this. Great work, and Haxe gang forever!
I was playing this last night before the compo officially ended. Simple but effective. I agree with @cryptic-wasp - definitely addicting. My girlfriend thought the goal was to give them haircuts. I don't know if that's what you were going for but I love that as the "story". Now to go give some more haircuts. :v:
I wasn't able to get the web player working, but the game *looks* great, I love the sprites! Definitely a good entry in the humor category as well based on the description and good use of theme too. Wish I could play :(
Like another commenter said, I'm not too sure how this one fit the theme, but it is optional I suppose! That being said, love the graphics and feel of the game. It was tough though!
The mood was definitely the highlight for me. The TV static-y ripple effect was a nice touch. I did struggle a little bit with the sensitivity of looking around and wasn't too sure exactly how to progress at times. Still cool, good stuff!
The pixel art looks AMAZING! Really love this head on application of the theme, and of course a cute little veggie as the hero. Wish I could play this one, but I'm on mac :( But I offer a partial score, good sir. Great work.
You capture the mood you're going for really well, exactly like you said in your description on itch - the game is very "ominous", I think the sound design really contributes there. I had some issues with items seemingly disappearing if I accidentally moved during an interaction, but I still had a fun time playing. Nice work!
really cute, really well done, had a great time running around pokin' slimes with my pitchfork. i think another commenter mentioned this, but i did have a bit of trouble with the jumping mechanic (particularly the double jump), where i expected i might make a jump but would fall short. small thing and hardly impacts my overall experience, great stuff!
Wow, haven't seen a game that comes has a gameboy rom, that's super cool. I feel like that contributed a lot to making the overall experience immersive. Awesome!
I remember seeing updates on this one during the jam, glad I'm seeing it again to give it a go! The 3d, rotating mechanic was sweet. Got a kick out of the acapella jingle and the one liners at the end of each level. Level 3 was a good challenge too! Nice work :)
This was a really cool experience, I was genuinely surprised by how calming it was. A little bit of polish and I wouldn't be surprised seeing this popular on all the app stores. Nicely done!
Probably the most unique entry I've come across. Really, really cool idea and I think you executed it really well!
Really loved the visuals here. I had a bit of a tough time getting a hang of the keyboard controls, but I guess thats on me since you recommended controller! Awesome work.
amazing, amazing art. really captivating too, and i'm not usually a fan of clicker games like this, but this was really soothing and i had a good time with it. great stuff!
Super fun. The little robot sprites were cute too. Music was really enjoyable as well. The game itself was harder than I expected, what made it satisfying to reach the end. Really well done.
I saw this one come together through the updates you posted and it's really cool seeing the final product, nice work! You create a sinister atmosphere really well, which is a good juxtaposition to a theme like "harvest" which we've seen so many sillier/cuter takes on. Good stuff!
I've seen a few "soul harvester" games, but I like the humor in your's the best so far! Fun and witty spin on the theme. Nice work :)
Loved the art here, cool idea with light as the resource too. I had a bit of trouble with the controls, which affected my experience a bit, but enjoyable overall! Good stuff!
This brought me back to the cookie clicker days. The little farmer guy was cute, but was a little blurry at least on my end.
This was really cute! Loved the graphics and the jingle too, really nice. Like another commenter said the hitbox was a little hard to grasp which led to some frustrating moments, but it was still a really relaxing and soothing experience. It felt like a massage for my brain after playing a bunch of games today. Thank you for sharing, one of my favorites so far for sure!
So well done! The dialogue is amazing, the art style is super unique and captivating and I had a wild time slicing wildly to find the body party I was looking for. Amazing work!
The custom designing of the battleships is such a cool idea, really neat. The first round I played my mystery boxes had nothing but guns, so that was a bit of a confusing first go lol. I did have a bit of a hard time maneuvering my ship and I often got pinned between two ships with no way to escape and all my guns blown off. Still, good stuff! Would love to see a post-compo build.
i love the lil' monkeys! my one issue is i would take completed cups and track them to the line at the register instead of the register, which seemingly made the cup disappear into oblivion. i only made that mistake twice though lol. great entry, super cute.
A cute, silly and kinda steamy take on the theme! Loved the cute plants. Nice work :)
@feor thank you so much for the kind words! really appreciate you taking the time to leave a thorough review. i definitely see what you're saying with the movement reactivity, a mechanic i'm definitely going to iterate on.
i'm gonna go check your's out now, stoked to give it a spin :v:
@mariavalcam thank you! definitely wanted to give players a challenge, glad you had fun with it :)
@johnnysix thank you! definitely will be adding an upgrade system in the future. the yampage is just beginning.
@hypernoodlejon thank you!! really glad you had a fun time with it. i just played your's too and it was awesome. stoked we both had a productive jam! :)
@spiritbeard wow, super in depth review, really helpful! i love the idea of leaning into the overcooked gameplay style a little more, good idea ! totally get what you're saying with the movement and appreciate you sharing your specific pain points. will be sure to address these in the future. thanks for playing!
went to take a look at your game but am not seeing one, let me know if thats a mistake so i can go check yours out if you submitted this time around!
@falkreon I'm so glad you enjoyed it and see potential. I'll definitely be revisiting this project :v:
@square-wave i can rest easy knowing that at least one person nose exhaled. in all seriousness though, thank you! appreciate you taking the time to check my entry out
@avi not intentional, but i appreciate you giving me the benefit of the doubt lol. glad you liked the aesthetics! definitely going to rework the movement, as that seems to be everyone's main gripe. thanks for taking the time!
@scidev thanks for checking out my entry! you deliver yams in the little "bins" (by the fences) by pressing 'Q'. happy delivering!
@kuboxxxxx thank you so much, that means a lot, glad you had fun! had to go purple for the yams! :v:
@adis totally agree with you that i can incentivize selling yams more - im thinking upgrade system, leveling stats, etc. for future releases. thanks for playing, glad you had fun with it!
@iluvatar thank you so much, i'm honored! i saw a post of your game and am obsessed with the art, so your review means a lot! totally would've loved to put some enemy death animations, etc. in. Definitely for future releases!
I'm checking out your game tonight, stoked! :v:
@simsax @adis thank you guys so much for taking notice of the itch page, honestly one of the aspects of this jam i'm proudest of haha
@acdimalev i see you took a look at the source, sweet! really appreciate that advice actually. i figured it was the drift, i'll play with it and make it a little more natural in future editions.
@bartalomew you aim where you're throwing with the mouse, sorry if that wasn't clear in the controls. hope you get a chance to play again!
@tessahardin thank you so much! glad you had fun :v::smile:
@danmerey had to go purple for the yams!
Loved the imp character design, I had a good time scampering around pickin' up goodies. Probably just me being a dummy but it seemed like I got caught in a loop with the teleporters where I couldn't get back to the sorceress. Increasing the size of the ingredients would be super helpful too. Fun entry, good work!
Loved it. The title is super cute and loved the use of theme. I definitely got territorial once it got to harvestin' time. My one piece of constructive criticism is that it took the game a little bit to get going, but once they started comin' they started comin'! Loved the graphics, loved the music. Great entry!
I'm not able to play this because I'm on mac but the art is gorgeous!
Super cool art style, definitely my favorite aspect of your submission. I would have loved to have some aspect of sound here - soft crackling of the fire or some crickets would really elevate the mood a ton. Either way really cool, great stuff.
Super creative use of them, I love how meta it is. I'm on mac so I can't give it a spin myself, but I'm glad you included a gameplay video. Looks really awesome. Good work!
This was really fun. Difficulty in levels went up nicely. I also really liked the use of the sticks as your life, not just the "keys" to the exit. I wasn't familiar with Pico8 before this jam but it seems super cool and you've inspired me to give it a go! Awesome work, really fun.
