The graphics and audio are really well made and they fit the mood of your story very well.
While walking you can sometimes get stuck on objects.
Also after picking up a couple of items I didn't really know what else to do. I walked about for a while and then exited the game. Is there a feature I'm missing?
@supremekurt Thank you for you feedback! The game is essentially an item gathering game. You are supposed to gather food items before the storm comes (on a short timer). After the storm, it is determined if you harvested enough food to survive the winter.
Graphics are insanely good, very impressive.
The pixel art looks really good and the mood of the game is great, good game
I really like the game! The graphics are great, of course, and even though the game is really simple, it adds to the idea of an empty apocalyptic world. Sometimes my character get stuck here or there, and it is a bit hard to tell what is food and what is not, but overall a great game! Good job!

Pretty good looking, but I couldn't play because it's not web based - if you publish a web version I would love to give it a try.
Man the graphics are amazing. The animation is also pretty good. I liked the ambience of the game. I think it could use a little bit more gameplay. I also got stuck multiple times, but damn the graphics.
Incredible graphics, animation, and mood. Some of your building hitboxes are larger than they probably should be, and I'd have loved to see the trucks and trash cans interactable as well, so you could interact them and sometimes food pops out. really fun just to walk around and enjoy the pixel art though

Hello, as for me, this is a 4.5 for a compo game - you have made so much art and level design as well as mechanics and audio in such a short period of time, that really amuses me.
However, sometimes you get stuck when you are moving, and also walking sideways makes you faster - try to normalise direction vector - it's a common problem for new gamedevs :)
Overall, great results!
As the others said, great graphics and mood! I also got stuck on the collisions sometimes and I agree that some sort of feedback to the player (be it on form of UI or dialogue or otherwise) would help with the end not feeling so abrupt. But especially for a first game jam entry, this is very good!

The graphics in this game are solid 5.0/5.0! It's an excellent game.
Everything you made is amazing. In fact, this is my dream game.I like it.It let me to stop saying "but".I wonder how can you make such a great game in 48 hours.
@poietic-ruby Thank you! To be honest it’s just a walking simulator, I had the core game loop finished in about 2-3 hours and was starting on art right after that. I put around 16+ hours into art between the first and second day. I kept finding that each step was actually taking a lot less time that I thought it would. I did run into an issue with GMS2 at the end of the first day where my placed tile sets would not show. It also helps that the theme was one of my stronger ideas for a game with super simple mechanics. Thanks for playing!
@greynovembergames In my opinion,a game with the best art is the best. You can't make the art look great and achieve the greatest core game at the same time.I admire you for your ability to draw and your spirit of not giving up.Maybe those are the reason why I love this game. If you are brave enough, the time is enough as well!

The art and mood is great! The game is well polished.

The main-menu button are easy to miss because of color palette, i have been clicking endlessly "ESC' to go to the menu without realising I was in it already ^^ I miss some tips on how many object do I have/ miss. Otherwise, beautiful game with a lot of effort put in music and art. Out of the danger zone ! :)

Very good art and mood. Of course minimal gameplay, but this could easily be fleshed out to be a nice exploration game.
The art is incredible. Very good, simple concept. I have two thoughts/suggestions. Not every door could be interacted with. This is fine, but a little bit of feedback would help, like a sound that indicates the door is locked. The other is that one of the buildings in the top right of the map didn't do the roof cutaway like the others. Other than that, this is a great entry. The visual feedback for the impending storm was great. If anything, it could afford to ramp up maybe a little more towards the end. Awesome submission!

The graphics and audio in your game are superb, i really love some pixel-art games. Overall is a amazing game to be made in 48hrs.
The game is really well polished. The art looks well and the music fits. With that said, I would have liked for the main menu buttons to contrast more with the background. It actually took me a minute or two to figure out how to start the game. The gameplay was simple if a bit lacking but for a Ludum Dare entry, that's kind of to be expected. Overall it's quite a good game, well done.

The art looks so polished, love it.
Thanks for the feedback everyone! I have added v1.1 on Itch. This is an update outside of LD, and addresses the nasty sticky movement and the poorly placed UI in the main menu.

Uhfgh I love post-apocalypse so much,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Pixelart is great, music is okay, the whole atmosphere is nice, but it's hard to walk sometimes due to a bunch of invisible walls.
@witchgf Thanks for the feedback, yeah sadly I had changed some things right before I submitted it and didn’t realize it made the player stick to walls. It’s fixed in 1.1 download on the itch if you’re interested.
It's great to finish such a picture in 48 hours! However, some of them are not complete enough
Nice game really fits the theme.

Graphics are pretty good. Gathering mushrooms and trash is a nice idea, although I felt no objective at all (as well as no freedom, since there's nothing to do in the world), so I almost dropped the game before the storm. Buttons in main menu are barely visible, I'd change that in the future versions. Played LD52 version.

@danmerey Thanks for the feedback, the buttons on the main menu have been moved to the bottom in the latest version. A change that really needed to happen.

I luckily survived the winter :D I dont think I can say much more than what has already been said in these comments. I loved the art (I always love it when pixel art is done well!) and the music was very atmospheric. The gameplay was simple, but because of the time pressure it became interesting. Perhaps communicating this pressure early on a little more would work even better, but I already really liked the wind and white dots that appeared near the end. Very moody and pretty game! Very nice submission :D

Wow, monumental accomplishment here! I like that instead of a timer, you depicted the weather growing colder and colder... very effective tension as I scrambled for my last items! (I survived) Glad you uploaded the more finished game in addition to the actual entry so we could see it all:) Again, amazing job! Would love to see a full length game in this style!

I love the apocalyptic themes and dystopian vibes so the game really suited my taste. I'm a huge fan of pixel art too, so graphics and theme was on point for me. I got a little confused on the map while looking for stuff, but I guess it's supposed to be like that. I didn't survive with the stuff I gathered but knowing the stakes as the ending apporaches it makes me want to play again and challenge myself. Overall pretty good game. :D

The sprites are so pretty. This looks really great. A couple more movement option and a clearer style to different between important objects and unimportant objects could have gone a long way. Still liked a lot. Nice twist on the theme.
Mood wise this was probably one of the best games I've played this jam. The environment really looks abandoned and slightly hostile, the music makes the mood really grim and the storm slowly rolling in is unsettling to say the least.
I liked the concept of having to find food in the given time limit, the collectables were nicely indistinguashible from the background objects. I would have liked to see how much time is left before the storm though.
The art is really nice and consistent and moving through the world to see all of it is basically entertaining on its own. Speaking of, sometimes you get stuck on random or invisible things when moving.
Overall a really good entry, especially for a compo game.
Really good entry with an interesting take on the theme. I felt you did a great job with the atmosphere of the game and feeling alone. Diagonal movement I think needed the direction normalized so it would be consistent speed. The application was VERY slow to open the game that I thought it broke and ended up opening 5 copies before the first one showed up. Otherwise things felt smooth. Keep on making games
The graphics look awesome. Collision feels a bit buggy, almost got stuck on right side of the map between a house and the edge. Otherwise feels like pretty nice little game, with a bit more things to do this has some potential. Good job!

The pixel art ist amazing! Some more visible effect of the oncoming storm would've been great though. As others have already stated, collisions are sometimes a bit suboptimal. The music is nice and adds to the atmosphere, but could've benefitted from a bit more variation / a longer loop. Would've loved to have a bit more to do in this game, but it was fun wandering around this world anyway. Good job overall!

hey we both have same name for our game :P anyhow your graphics are amazing and love the post apocalitic vibe you got going their and didn't expect to see world building in a jam game!
