Nice game! using the power up and watching them all fall was surprisingly satisfying. I just wish there was a score counter so I could see how far I have gotten.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD41 → Tetris Breakout

Hey, good job. :) My main advice would be two parts. First, it's always good to put the instructions in the game somewhere, because most people I would wager don't actually read the full description before playing. Second, In a game as "Arcade-y" as this, it's probably a good idea to make up some kind of scoring system which is shown as the player plays. As it is I didn't feel much motivation to keep playing. Nice job though, keep it up. :D
Had some great memories with Tetris, now i have some with Tetris Breakout, Great Job. Feel free to drop a review at our game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/boomball
@Riddhee Dutta Thanks! I'll be sure to check it out.
Aye, having a score would be neat, but it'S a pretty interesting mechanic idea overall.
btw, I think your restart button is broke. At least for me on windows restarting seems to freeze everything.
@Iak Uh-oh! I didn't notice that. :/
Edit: I pushed a new version that doesn't have that issue. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
Yo, glad I could help with inspiration.
As some people have said a timer/score would be cool but what the game definitely is sound effects (and a pumped up music) but mostly SOUND EFFECTS to go with all THESE EXPLOSIONS. It would feel even more satisfying. (also I guess a few particle effects could make neat additions). Instructions could be cool, was a bit lost at the beginning, or at least better info with like the blocks beeping and flashing red when they are on the ground so you know this is not supposed to happen, maybe even exploding or dissolving.
Basically what I'm sayin' is any game can do with more feedback, but this one would definitely benefit from them A LOT ! Here's a little inspiration https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy0aCDmgnxg .
Anyways, good job congrats on making the game with so little time :D !
Nice game, the power up was really satisfying, especially as some of the rockets you had fired get dragged down with all the falling blocks. The movement was sort of annoying, maybe make the player slow down faster.
@Wevel Thanks! The movement is supposed to be wonky, to make the game harder :)
It's a really fun concept! Tho it got boring after a while since it was just moving left and right and mashing the space bar.
All in all it's pretty fun! Good job!
Nice mashup ! I did not spend that much time reading the description, so you can imagine my surprise when I saw these Tetris blocks coming from atop ! I really enjoyed it though, especially when a bigger number of blocks started to fall. Maybe you could reduce the cooldown of the powerup and increase the firing rate to add a little dynamism. Overall, great job !
nice concept but it could be faster paced i guess, godd job
Having bad sounds/soundtrack is much better than having none! Although it is a good idea of shoot'em'up tetris. ;-) Just add more weapons, vfx, explosions, buffs... brick types - and it should be a lot fun to play!
Thank you guys all for the feedback! I'm already working on all the improvements you mentioned, and I can tell you it's getting a lot more fun to play! Unfortunately, I can't release it until the play+rate period ends. For now, I've ported it over to my iPhone so I have something to play when I'm bored. Pretty cool stuff :)
This could lead to some really fun stuff. Destroying Tetrominos instead of combining them felt very satisfying :) It's sad you couldn't make an asset instead of an arrow, that would have add some real value to the game ! Also a kind of score would help to engage the player. Maybe a timer, as it seems that the purpose is to stay alive as long as possible ? We also made a mix of Tetris... with Shadow of the Colossus ;) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/tetris-of-the-colossus
Movement was a little annoying. I wish it was tighter. It was fun blasting the bricks.
