really leet

themonsterfromthedeep 2014-12-10 03:12

Pretty fun! I like the concept.

zakchaos 2014-12-10 03:16

really cool concept, might be more fun if portal is a little bigger?

p1x3lruckus 2014-12-10 03:19

Overall very fun, and a good use of the theme. But gameplay was damaged as soon as you realise you can win 100% of the time by shooting a portal behind the other players paddle. But I guess that's easily fixed if you where to ever remake this.

I actually kind of enjoyed this game. smooth movements natural curving all of it was great, and i like the Ubuntu themed terminal, nice touch.

rjhelms 2014-12-10 03:24

Really cool concept, well executed.

I had a crash trying to play a level after I had already beaten one - but they all works if I restarted the game.

moomoo112 2014-12-10 03:38

This is an interesting concept, though it's a bit too easy to cheat a win. Maybe it'd do better with some dead spots, so that you can't play a portal right behind the other paddle, or over their portals.

The 'breaking the game' effect was an interesting addition, given the time constraints of LD.

Nice tribute to Mr. Pong who unfortunately left us few days ago.
A (bad) coincidence, though ? :)

Still, the association of the two gameplays works, nice entry!

dalbinblue 2014-12-10 04:07

I liked the idea of the game. Super hard to beat the AI in the game (lost many times), but pretty cool to use the portals.

I did find a bug in that at least on Windows the game crashes when you try to start another level after ending a previous one. Starting the game back up works to play the next level, so it isn't that big of a deal though.

Wow that meta! The terminal interface, the code scrolling by in the back-ground, and the victory screen are really clever. The music is stunning!

I want to know how many people start trying to run other commands, and I'm kind of curiuos as to how you created the terminal in the first place.

The gameplay itself is kind of confusing and feels unresponsive (maybe that's just my machine?). Regardless, this is a great entry.

lostcodestudios 2014-12-10 04:14

@ZnCatlaw, Monospace font and just coded it up using simple arrays and command parsing. @Wampus it was just an afterthought, but we thought that breaking the theme is breaking the game, so what better way to that than actually just breaking the screen!

bthedestroyermc 2014-12-10 04:16

Pretty neat. Managed to crash it somehow though...

ky533541 2014-12-10 04:30

What a great idea, this is a super interesting experiment! Some nice visual effects too

robustinteractive 2014-12-10 04:31

great concept! love it!

tcarter 2014-12-10 04:44

Very innovative! I loved the ending animation.

radmars 2014-12-10 04:56

Awesome concept! Bit too easy to lock the ball behind the paddle but pretty fun nonetheless. Would love to see some multiplayer for this. Did you make the music yourself though? If not you should probably opt out of the category.

playvue 2014-12-10 05:19

Nice approach! Love the crazy update on pong, which you'd think couldn't be done in any 'new' ways by now. Love it! =)

lostcodestudios 2014-12-10 15:54

@radmars We didn't make the music. I've opted out, thanks for the suggestion. I don't know how everyone else is using the opt out feature so I just assumed people were using it for categories they didn't address.

Neat little game :)

Portal creation process can be a little confusing at times tho
