I love the theme my friend!! The intro, start menu, initial dialogue, and gameplay all tie in very nicely with tight controls!!! I absolutely love the aesthetic. Very good use of 2d lights. Overall great job!

oulsen 2020-10-05 20:23

@newbiedev Thanks a lot!

tangomango 2020-10-05 20:34

Nice job! I absolutely love the art style!

guilhermesouza 2020-10-05 20:35

I really loved the time loop effect! however or game has some bugs like player always facing right when moving, and the space ship before energy back is a little bit to dark... but it's a nice entry, very beaultiful and game mood it's perfect!! Congratz

oceanm 2020-10-05 20:36

The game felt very well put together and has a good responsive feel to it. Nice job!

ansoneh 2020-10-05 20:38

Really love the atmosphere! The lighting and music add a ton.

oulsen 2020-10-05 20:40

@guilhermesouza Thanks a lot for the feedback! and yea, there are some issues :) but have you tried the flashlight? :)

cax 2020-10-05 20:41

Wow! This lighting is awesome Gameplay is cool but tutorial is pretty slow

oulsen 2020-10-05 20:41

@tangomango thanks! its all done by ProtoCap!

guilhermesouza 2020-10-05 20:42

@oulsen OMG, i'm very stupid HAHAHA sorry

oulsen 2020-10-05 20:43

@guilhermesouza haha no problem!

bellringerquinn 2020-10-05 20:46

Beautiful looking game, but I couldn't figure out what to do. I wandered around for forever and picked up the gas and the battery but then couldn't figure out how to use them. I don't understand what the time loop mechanic was for; it seemed to basically just restart the game entirely...? The animation for the time loop was really cool though. Why do I need to press a button to turn on the flashlight? It feels like there is no reason to play the game without the flashlight so why even give players an option?

Great itch page by the way.

prostone 2020-10-05 20:46

Great addition! I like the idea, I was not really stuck in the loop though, finished in the second loop. Love the artstyle, music fits it really well. Interfaces with text are responsive and everything works well together.

oulsen 2020-10-05 20:51

@bellringerquinn Thanks for the feedback! yea, we are missing a tutorial system or sorts. When you get the gas and the battery you can go to the Engine and turn it on and after that the navigation.Engine.png

kingdwarf 2020-10-05 21:27

Overall this game is amazing, really cool story and nice graphics. I absolutely love the music, it really feels like your in a spaceship! The gameplay is a bit hard at first, took me 5 minutes to press F and see that I apparently have a flashlight XD, so a tutorial or some indicators of what to press should help that a bit :D

oulsen 2020-10-05 21:33

@kingdwarf Thanks a lot for the kind feedback!! yea, we need a tutorial in there... but! have you noticed the main menu? ;) main menu.png

jag 2020-10-05 21:48

I really loved the shadowing on the 2D models! And the ambience was great. One thing that made me a little upset... I collected the fuel and battery but then when I went to click on the machine at the top I clicked launch ship before I clicked recalibrate, and I just los tthe game immediately. It kind of ticked me off that it was even an option to launch the ship before you recalibrate it after youve fixedd the computer and ship haha

kingdwarf 2020-10-05 21:57

@oulsen Yes, I have looked at the main menu. Guess I was too focused on the middle then xD

narom42 2020-10-05 22:03

Game was good. Graphics are cool and 2D lights put a really nice atmosphere. The time loop effect is great. Although, I had some problems finding the engine room too, i don't really know why. Thanks !

kp-gamedev 2020-10-06 00:47

nice game. a tutorial system would be nice. thanks @protocap for the review on the game really appreciate it. this was my first gamejam so am super excited

protocap 2020-10-06 01:34

no problem @kp-gamedev this is my first time doing this too, making the pixel art for this was really fun

jdeedubs 2020-10-06 03:57

The mood is really nice here. Love the lighting, and the music really draws you into the urgency. If anything, it didn't really feel like you were in a ship: more like a series of rooms with stars in between. Really nice game! Looking forward to your next one!

protocap 2020-10-06 04:12

@jdeedubs I appreciate that and yeah, I agree with how it doesn't feel like a space ship exactly, I didn't have enough time to make a more ship-like tile set, the one you see in the game was the first one I ever made, in the future I'll definitely have to make one for this

stefania-mak 2020-10-06 11:01

But who killed your crewmate?? :scream: (was it by the force of the black hole?) I really like the lights and the shadows, and the fact that there is some storyline behind it. I lost at first the 1/3 of the game looking for how to exit the first room (didn't realize I could use `E`), other than that, the game was simple, quick, and targeted, nice one!

TimeLoop.png

I actually got it first try so I had to replay it after reading the comments about the time loop lol. It was a cool experience! Short but well made, nice sprites, my only criticism is that the sound effects started to feel repetitive towards the end. Nice work, well done! :)

tjabberoni 2020-10-07 00:02

Love the art and how shadows are cast from your body. The sound and music makes it feel tense even though all you did was gather the needed supplies and start the engines. The dark icons of the battery and fuel gave a hint to what you were supposed to look for so that was nice! I just wish there was something more gameplay wise as the aesthetics are so good. Enjoyed it nonetheless!

johnsensei 2020-10-07 00:08

Good job for being new to game development. Was this your first game jam? Those make for great stories.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and video of this game. Some things I would have liked to have seen (maybe they were planned and there wasn't enough time) would have been a run ability and to use keyboard commands for the UI (which I know from experience that mouse UI is a lot easier in Unity).

etrealjunior 2020-10-07 10:19

I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection

protocap 2020-10-07 16:57

@johnsensei yep this was my first game jam and first time trying to do pixel art and yeah, we ran out of time before adding too many features, I would've liked keyboard commands for the UI too, we might try to make this a bigger game after the jam with combat and everything hopefully

tori 2020-10-07 21:21

Great game, i think the lenght is perfect and everything work perfectly together, from graphic to audio and gameplay, well done !

ariya-reddy 2020-10-07 21:30

This was such a great game!! I really loved every aspect of it.

harrm 2020-10-08 18:49

Quicky got lost without any idea how to proceed. Seems more like a level design flaw. Overall it's quite enjoyable.

skeffles 2020-10-08 18:54

This was a fun quick play. I think you really nailed the atmosphere with this.

feraligatr 2020-10-08 18:56

I enjoyed the game. It had a nice take on "stuck in a loop" with kind of a scientific relation. If you wanna keep on developing the game, I suggest you reduce the loop timer or add some more rooms and items to gather. Like This it was a rather short experience, but atleast it is a game I could finish :P

agentparsec 2020-10-08 18:58

I almost got it on the first attempt, but I got it after it looped once.

adjo 2020-10-08 19:03

Really liking the atmosphere! Great game!

arad-hamidsamiee 2020-10-09 09:19

It was an enjoyable experience, really liked the sprites, nice blackhole curvature shader, atmospheric, good audio design, good job.

oulsen 2020-10-09 20:32

@skeffles @feraligatr @adjo @arad-hamidsamiee thanks for the kind words!

vesk 2020-10-13 18:40

A cool little game. Simple and generic idea, but is has an interesting story behind it and the graphics as well as the lighting were quite impressive.

oulsen 2020-10-16 15:21

@vesk thanks a lot!
