LD47 — Stuck in a loop

break; by SelfTitled 2020-10-06T22:00:37Z

I really liked the art and puzzle. But I found that the jump physics were a little frustrating. Also, your game would be much easier to learn to play if you showed the button to interact/grab/etc. when you tell the player they can perform an action.

Asteroid Catcher by Jcourt 2020-10-06T23:40:47Z

I like the artwork. Clicking on the asteroids is rather difficult. For a while, I didn't realize I had to click on the asteroids at all and couldn't figure out why nothing was happening. I think this is a neat idea, but is really hard to learn to play.

The infinity - Pool bar by eptwalabha 2020-10-06T22:10:03Z

I think I lost my mind ;) I did have some troubles with turning. My mouse was appearing on the screen and once it got to the edge of the screen it wouldn't go any further and I could no longer turn around.

Round Out by foolmoron 2020-10-07T00:09:29Z

I really liked the art and the sound effect when I circled a star. I originally tried to play the game in fullscreen and it didn't work, I couldn't leave the start area without dying. I found the game over screen kind of hard to read because of the red background. I really like how you applied the theme.

BULLETS FROM THE PAST by Cambryx 2020-10-08T13:45:29Z

This is really well done. The art and sounds are great. We both had a very similar take on the theme and I like how you made the bullets dangerous as opposed to the previous lives as I did. I really like how you made previous bullets and turrets red so that we'd have an idea where the bullets from previous lives would go. However, I did find the gameplay to be far too slow for me. During my first life, I discovered that I could survive for extremely long with very little difficulty whatsoever by just camping in the same corner all game. I mostly camped in the bottom left corner and would shoot anything I could from there; if it was safe, I would move up the sides and shoot cross map at remaining turrets. I made it to round 20 and would never have my health fall below 75%. At this point the screen was absolutely covered in bullets and previous versions of myself, but there was very little threat against my strategy. I committed suicide. Btw, I love the sound effect on the time rewind; overall this mechanic was very well implemented and animated.

RevolveWare by Fatsheep 2020-10-06T22:30:15Z

That was a really fun warioware inspired game. I loved the sounds and animations. I really liked your take on the theme. I do wish that the difficulty had scaled faster. Also, I discovered at around 60 points that there was no penalty for touching the wrong key; I realized I could simply spam all the keys quickly and last forever. Overall this was one of the best games I've played so far. Well done!

LO2OP by MrWahloh 2020-10-05T20:34:36Z

It took a while to get the hang of things, but once I figured it out it was really really fun! Great job!

Lockdown by Cole Wolff 2020-10-06T22:15:20Z

That was a really fun game. I'm not sure why I got a game over, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Revenge of the zombie attack by Sabeurre 2020-10-06T17:17:56Z

This is great. It is like a tower defence idle game, and it is my new obsession. It took a while to figure everything out, and for me the text is comically small compared to the rest of the UI. Overall, I love it.

Loop Land by Préda 2020-10-06T00:11:03Z

I absolutely love the art and music but found many of the jumps to be unforgiving. I really struggled to get onto the first platform. I also found the moving platform section to be very difficult because I didn't move with the platform.

TimeFabric by raoz 2020-10-06T16:50:45Z

That was a really well made game and I really enjoyed playing it. I only wish that when I push E my clone would disappear as I always forgot to step off of the button before creating the time loop. This would often force me to restart the entire level.

Broken Dungeon by PurpledArtFrog 2020-10-07T13:21:40Z

Overall I liked the game, but I found it frustrating how many times when I would enter a new level for the first time, I would die not because I lacked skill but because I'd never played the level before and didn't know where the traps were or what they looked like.

Beware, space! by Vladimir Smolin 2020-10-06T22:05:04Z

The controls seemed broken to me? I couldn't seem to look where I wanted to. The art was really nice and I liked the music as well.

Soundcloud The Concert: The Game by beats 2020-10-05T20:16:46Z

What am I supposed to do?

Spaghetti Quest by peterfonts 2020-10-14T13:58:41Z

This looks really cool and I really want to play it. Sadly, I am unable to left click and right click at the same time on my computer. Really great idea that looks really well made; great job!

Auraboros by nicross 2020-10-06T17:39:15Z

Am I supposed to be just seeing a black screen after I start the game? I hear myself shooting and I see nothing then eventually I get a game over.

Cercle funeste by LoicLeGrosFrere 2020-10-06T19:52:47Z

Beautiful game. I wish the space bar mechanic were explained clearer. It seems as though I push space and I teleport somewhere randomly? There were also a couple typos in the story.

Scvng.R by ComicSans 2020-10-06T00:42:15Z

It took me 20 minutes to figure out how to kill the first enemy and win the rocket launcher. I killed the first enemy and the game froze :(

Jack's Inferno by mharring 2020-10-06T15:37:17Z

This was a really ambitious game that was done well. It needs some more polish in order to keep the gameplay engaging. I also found it really confusing that I couldn't eat the fruits or pick up the gold.

Bob the Time Travelling Square by SciDev 2020-10-05T20:12:48Z

Overall it was a really interesting game with interesting mechanics. However, the controls were very frustrating/confusing and the mechanics need to be explained better.

Za Loopo! by NarRenArr 2020-10-08T13:54:56Z

I loved the sounds. The gameplay needs a bit of work. I found that jumping and slicing the balloons could be really difficult. Also, I lost one time because all the people I had to save were at the very top of the screen and I couldn't jump high enough to save them 😞.

Delivery Boy Forever by civmaniac 2020-10-07T00:02:15Z

Really great job overall! I loved the art and the story. I did get stuck at one point and couldn't figure out what to do next.

Progress by Anant Ahuja 2020-10-05T21:22:19Z

Nice.

Duck In A Loop by Matt Lewis 2020-10-06T20:16:53Z

Graphics are fun. Cute little game. I liked that I had so many choices for which duck to play. However, the controls were a little weird and the physics were pretty wonky. At one point I was floating in the air for over a minute and could fly just by holding down the up arrow. I flipped my duck upside down at one point and became invincible. The music should loop.

Shiny by Noire 2020-10-06T00:47:56Z

That was a beautiful experience.

Nine to Five by Kristian Kurktchiev 2020-10-06T00:26:48Z

This is a masterpiece!

ShredyCat by BBadger 2020-10-06T17:46:53Z

I like the art but I don't understand what I'm trying to do.

Super Platypus Drifter by ricargoes 2020-10-06T20:07:07Z

I really loved the graphics and thought the voices were hilarious! I found the game to be really hard and I found that the text that appeared by my ship was too small for me to read. Also, I often saw a wrap around of the various planets and my ship (seeing 2 of the same planet was confusing); I played most of the game with 2 of my ships on screen.

Shadow of Archimedes by Eckkert 2020-10-06T00:02:05Z

Really amazing job! I just wish there was a tutorial.

Donuts On Donuts by SlimmerBurger 2020-10-05T21:26:46Z

This is really amazing for something done in such a short time. Great job! The only point of criticism I have is that I wish when I pushed Space to restart it restarted as opposed to bringing me back to the main menu.

Stuck in the Rhythm by Thejaspel 2020-10-06T20:11:15Z

I really liked the music and graphics. I couldn't figure out where to go. I spent forever with the 'Get Closer' prompt. I also never seemed to be able to figure out the timing of the beat. I'm not sure if it was just me.

The Loop of Death by TheMosterts 2020-10-06T18:22:30Z

Fun game. Great art. I couldn't figure out if it was possible to kill anyone. Also, at around 1400 points the game started to lag; at 1500 points it was literally unplayable.

HERO BURGER by mhm32167 2020-10-06T18:27:20Z

That was really cute and quite fun. I wish it was easier to see the finger coming. Overall it was a joy to play.

Link is dead

CRYSOPHILIST by Wouter52 2020-10-06T20:22:04Z

Interesting game. Great art. Some of the mechanics could use a little work (like the jump for instance). Also, I found the font to be really hard to read.

Coin Cavern by HappyDevilGames 2020-10-05T20:25:18Z

Overall it was a really fun game and a really interesting take on the theme.

However there are a couple things that could be improved: - the camera made me a bit sick at first - I didn't like that I shot as I moved - Is there no way to win? I wandered around the first level for way too long. I collected everything and killed everyone and went everywhere.

Loopy Luke by Donamougou 2020-10-05T20:01:36Z

Overall it was a really enjoyable game especially considering the time constraints.

What was really good: - music - art - coal mechanic was rather intuitive

Things to work on:

- the whole game doesn't fit on the screen on itch - on the rules page the back button is much smaller than the text - the quit button on the gameover screen causes a crash - it wasn't clear what the targets were - I couldn't figure out why the yellow targets didn't disappear when I shot them. after a while I figured out I needed to shoot them a few times. you should consider making them change colours or flash red or something in order to give the player some sort of indication that they were hit - the gun doesn't seem to fire where my pointer is? - on the first level I missed the first target. I finished the rest of them up on the first lap. then on my second lap I shot the first target. then I had to wait until I finished the track to finish the level. that was really boring

Loop of Shapes by IronWood777 2020-10-06T22:20:57Z

I thought the tutorial was fine. I thought the game was fun and loved the music but I found it very hard. Also, the game was super tiny compared to the window on itch. You can set the size of the window to match the aspect ratio of your game; this will make your page look sharper.

Meteorio by Myster 2020-10-05T19:50:18Z

I think this might be a dead link

This Will Be My Cycle by don-tnowe 2020-10-06T20:28:17Z

Really interesting game. I love the double jump animation and the mechanic to where you can place the rooms. I found that controlling my character was difficult and took a lot away from the experience; the controls are far too sensitive.

Mom! I've got a job! by Food Lovers 2020-10-07T13:08:21Z

Love the art. Love the sound. Love the music. I wish fullscreen worked. Also I found that as I progressed through the game I started to get inpatient when I had to walk all the way over to collect a piece of trash and then walk all the way back with just one piece.

Addicted by Kortimaso 2020-10-06T15:21:08Z

Hey great effort. Sometimes jams don't go as planned; keep at it! I really liked the pink goo effect. I wish there was some sort of audio.

Swing to safety by Noirox 2020-10-06T18:34:53Z

This was really fun and interesting but waaaay too hard.

Legacy Looper by BellringerQuinn 2020-10-05T21:14:08Z

@funemaker @pixel-maniacs @holly Please try again as this should be fixed now. The game may take a few seconds to load.

Legacy Looper by BellringerQuinn 2020-10-05T21:53:19Z

@funemaker @pixel-maniacs @holly @beats @tomaszjaworski @oulsen @cax @donamougou this should be fixed now. I'm so sorry about the inconvenience and I hope you'll consider trying it out again.

If anyone is curious what the issue was, essentially what happened was that I originally developed the game in a higher aspect ratio. Then for whatever reason, when I run the game on a mac (in a browser), the game is properly scaled down in size. When I run the game on Windows in a browser, the game's UI doesn't scale properly so I had another section of my UI that was overlapping the play button. Lesson learned: always develop the game in the aspect ratio you plan to release it in.

Legacy Looper by BellringerQuinn 2020-10-06T12:16:51Z

@3mpty the green things give you a 3 point bonus. Alternatively, you can survive 3 seconds longer and not bother collecting green. They were added to give the user a direction to move in.

@rustywolf thanks for your feedback. They definitely do all have predictable AIs; however, since I didn't do anything to make them distinguished from each other that must be why they seem unpredictable. I thought that it wouldn't really matter, but I definitely see your point and will consider making them distinguishable from one another if I make any future updates..

Escaping the Void. by Oulsen 2020-10-05T20:46:14Z

Beautiful looking game, but I couldn't figure out what to do. I wandered around for forever and picked up the gas and the battery but then couldn't figure out how to use them. I don't understand what the time loop mechanic was for; it seemed to basically just restart the game entirely...? The animation for the time loop was really cool though. Why do I need to press a button to turn on the flashlight? It feels like there is no reason to play the game without the flashlight so why even give players an option?

Great itch page by the way.

SORO BORO by nethead 2020-10-06T20:00:44Z

Great art and music. Gameplay is extremely hard. It was confusing when I first went through the the door and didn't see any difference.

Crima by amfibian 2020-10-05T23:06:25Z

Amazing art and sound. The jump is way too quick and the gravity is way too strong. You should make it so that the camera keeps the player a bit closer to the middle because sometimes I would die from something I hadn't seen yet. Great job!

Haunted Loop House by smiley405 2020-10-14T12:59:44Z

Fun game with a good interpretation of the theme. I'm not sure why the game asks if I'm scared nor do I understand the consequences of my answer.
