I tried pressing your play button but nothing ever happened. :( Music is epic though!

donamougou 2020-10-05 20:19

The gameplay on the video looks really nice, but I don't find the button/mouse click to start the game... Menu music is catchy though!

From the gameplay video, I have a question : What does hitting green target do ? It seems that it only gets us in danger, but I can't see anywhere a score system ? Or am I missing something ?

darthdeus 2020-10-05 20:19

Very fun, although a bit frustrating to lose all the legacies after getting hit just once :(

pixel-maniacs 2020-10-05 20:21

I'd love to play the game, but after pressing play nothing happend, like @funemaker is writing.

holly 2020-10-05 20:25

Hi! Wanted to try your game but I was unable to press the play button. Good music thou

cax 2020-10-05 21:01

Can't press play

oulsen 2020-10-05 21:03

Music is cool, but I couldn't play the game... I think your issue is that the playbutton is being blocked by a canvas or panel (the first image) where the checkbox "Raycast target" is turned on, but I could be wrong. raycast.png

tomaszjaworski 2020-10-05 21:03

U cant play this

beats 2020-10-05 21:04

Your game doesnt work bro

prostone 2020-10-05 21:09

As others wrote, Play is probably obstructed. Tried in different browsers with the same result.

bellringerquinn 2020-10-05 21:14

@funemaker @pixel-maniacs @holly Please try again as this should be fixed now. The game may take a few seconds to load.

slimmerburger 2020-10-05 21:41

That explosion at the end is absolutely awesome!!!

bellringerquinn 2020-10-05 21:53

@funemaker @pixel-maniacs @holly @beats @tomaszjaworski @oulsen @cax @donamougou this should be fixed now. I'm so sorry about the inconvenience and I hope you'll consider trying it out again.

If anyone is curious what the issue was, essentially what happened was that I originally developed the game in a higher aspect ratio. Then for whatever reason, when I run the game on a mac (in a browser), the game is properly scaled down in size. When I run the game on Windows in a browser, the game's UI doesn't scale properly so I had another section of my UI that was overlapping the play button. Lesson learned: always develop the game in the aspect ratio you plan to release it in.

funemaker 2020-10-05 22:04

I got it to work this time around and the graphics are so polished and well done for being that simple. I really enjoyed the playback of my player's ghost. Very enjoyable!

mellobacon 2020-10-06 04:07

I like it. Simple yet fun. Especially the implementation of the theme. Nice job.

3mpty 2020-10-06 05:34

Pretty cool, I found the intermission between rounds a bit jarring though

Why am I picking up green things again?

Very smooth and polished though, I like it

rustywolf 2020-10-06 06:11

Really solid game idea. I dont like how the AI arent predictable, lost more than once to them turning into me. I'd have had them move in a straight line to prevent that. Otherwise veery fun game.

bellringerquinn 2020-10-06 12:16

@3mpty the green things give you a 3 point bonus. Alternatively, you can survive 3 seconds longer and not bother collecting green. They were added to give the user a direction to move in.

@rustywolf thanks for your feedback. They definitely do all have predictable AIs; however, since I didn't do anything to make them distinguished from each other that must be why they seem unpredictable. I thought that it wouldn't really matter, but I definitely see your point and will consider making them distinguishable from one another if I make any future updates..

prodigysp 2020-10-06 12:24

Pretty fun, too fast for me....lol. Loved the sfx, how the pitch changes on collecting more greens, the "legacies" idea is really nice too. Pretty good game!

zepapa 2020-10-06 17:19

Fun game! The increase in challenge is very well done - using your movements from last round to further increase the difficulty. I made much more deliberate movements the 2nd and 3rd times playing. It's simple but very entertaining to play over and over. A thought might be adding lives to keep going since I did not make it very far. Good work!

polina-voro 2020-10-06 19:52

I like the idea and the theme music! But I couldn't play the game properly. In the video you move fast and can avoid the red things, but when I tried to play, I moved very slowly and died in the very first 5 seconds. I think the problem is not with the game but with my old laptop.

keithdae 2020-10-06 19:53

Very cool game! I think it's a little too challenging at the start so it's hard to survive long enough to create a lot of legacies ^^

chris-mulholland 2020-10-06 20:48

It's too bad some people couldn't play because this is a well executed idea! Delves into chaos quickly. My highscore was 94. Good stuff!

thomas-carey 2020-10-06 20:52

Novel and simple idea. Good execution, really nice effects

cedric86 2020-10-06 20:56

Very interesting idea with the legacies. Cool game. Maybe two or three hit points would make it less frustrating though. Losing all the progress after just one hit is hard.

don-tnowe 2020-10-06 21:03

+1 to Graphics for death animation!

And yeah, gameplay, but so many people here already said it's absolutely amazing.

wouter52 2020-10-06 21:12

I really liked your game. it is an interesting concept using the player's movement as an 'enemy'. It makes you play in a way that you reduce the chaos in later levels, second guessing every movement. You perfectly nailed the death animation. The game is very hard, just like in the olden days. So the name is fitting.

eugenik 2020-10-06 22:17

Nice game! Good luck!

error-ff 2020-10-06 22:19

So simple and so fun. I imagine I play it in 1993 on my zx spectrum! Pretty challenging. But I would slow down this game a bit. Great presentation of jam theme!

etrealjunior 2020-10-07 09:53

I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection

mikdionio 2020-10-07 14:02

A simple take on this kind of game, but well implemented and still surprisingly tense! I love that it doesn't turn red right away, giving you some time to breathe at the start.

cambryx 2020-10-07 14:25

Really cool little game!

It was really challenging. This is the kind of game where you can't stop and always have to play one more round to improve your highscore.

It is amazing how good this game looks with its really simple graphics and great effects (glow, particle systems, death animation, ...).

I also really liked the music and sound effects.

The concept remindet me a bit of our own game, where your actions are recorded as well and your past actions influence your current round. It would be really cool if you tried it out as well and told us what you think :)

fabula-rasa 2020-10-07 15:02

It's really challenging. Gameplay is simple but enjoyable and the idea with legacies is brilliant! Music is not to my taste but it fits the game very well.

It's an interesting take on the theme. Congrats! I suck at this game ;) but after a while of trying I got to some semi-respectable score

sarahs7 2020-10-07 18:27

Very fun game! I couldn't get more than a few diamonds but this was sooo addictive!

daniel-whittaker 2020-10-07 20:42

Fun challenging little game, cant wrong with a classic formula like this. Perhaps a bit of a reach for the theme but we all struggled with that this time :p

jaybaus 2020-10-07 20:49

I thought this was a regular bullet hell with some nice polish at first, especially with the death animation. And then I got a legacy looper which was a nice spin and a cool moment because I wasn't expecting it, which is a cool way to teach a game mechanic. Good job :)

selftitled 2020-10-08 06:01

Interesting game, and polished too.

automatonvx 2020-10-08 18:22

Interesting concept and quite fun, but I definitely woud not interrupt gameplay to flash up a full screen "legacy created" and reset the player, it feels quite jarring and throws off the player. Also felt the difficulty could start of a bit lower there are so many of the initial red triangles that the legacies are not the main problem.. also for some reason I felt like it would have been nicer if the screen wrapped instead of destroying the player on the edge. Enjoyed the visual polish with the bloom and destruction effects.

kurt-roembke 2020-10-08 21:01

Nice game! The art and sound work really well together except for the green collectable sfx. It being dry took it out of the reverb space that was consistent in the rest of the sfx and music. Otherwise I thought it all worked really well.

c64gamer 2020-10-09 17:24

This is a really good example that games with non AAA graphics can be amazing to play. Really good entry guys. Had a lot of fun playing the game.

tverdo 2020-10-10 19:36

Pretty interesting concept. I really liked the sounds and visuals, especially the death animation. The game was challenging but fair. Visually I think you could improve the button style because they look like a standard design. But overall very good entry!

flying-dog-fish 2020-10-13 20:37

Nice and simple and fun! I think leaving the player and the enemies where they are when adding a new legacy would make the gameplay a lot smoother.

smiley405 2020-10-15 18:54

loved the blast effects when u hit the red bots and really cool concept, enjoyed playing.

peterfonts 2020-10-16 16:39

Amazing concept! At the beginning, I was thinking that it's only a game that you need need to avoid the triangles, but the legacy concept... BOOM! Blow my mind! Perhaps you can include more gamefeel when the player touches the green areas (is the victory!) I see that the effect when you are dead is spectacular, do the same catching the green areas! Despite that, it an awesome game with a robust concept but engaging. Congrats!

sg-goennung 2020-10-25 16:20

Always impressive to see what whan dev can achieve in such a short amount of time.

zjones 2020-10-27 22:01

Like the concept could make a fun aracda game, i would suggest a build up in difficulty for the game
