Holy shit what a national treasure, I love the art more than anything I've ever loved in my entire life

preda 2020-10-05 23:59

@flying-cat-of-the-pepes Thanks for playing and being the first one to play!

boaz 2020-10-06 00:05

very good game the art and the sound is very good

flying-cat-of-the-pepes 2020-10-06 00:06

I clicked on your game because I liked the bad looking cover art, but it actually has some of the best art I've ever seen in a Jam game. Maybe change ur cover art to one of the other screenshots like the third of the four you have here. It's a cool image, just hard to tell what it is when its small as cover art. just advice tho. Good game

wujood 2020-10-06 00:10

The art (graphics as well as audio) are great! Sometimes i felt like the physics were a bit weird. Overall really good game!

bellringerquinn 2020-10-06 00:11

I absolutely love the art and music but found many of the jumps to be unforgiving. I really struggled to get onto the first platform. I also found the moving platform section to be very difficult because I didn't move with the platform.

preda 2020-10-06 00:18

@boaz Thanks for playing the game and for the good feedback! @bellringerquinn The jumps are not the best, the player could've done with a bit higher jumps, I agree @wujood The physics are pretty weird, its pretty weird working with gravity like this either way there is probably many things I could've done better.

nikolaj 2020-10-06 00:18

Very pretty and fun.. really interesting to figure out how to move with the loop. Would be nice if the clouds didn't require a constant shuffle

redhermit 2020-10-06 00:21

Whoah, just whoah! What a world.. so many loops everywhere! Love the details.. like the enemy hand getting bigger when punching.. and things flying towards the camera.. art style is great, and you have a main boss! Fantastic! Love that you journey to the center of the loop as the progression as well.. and that some puzzles and challenges were incorporated! Only constructive critisism I have is that when playing full screen (32 in monitor.. so wide FOV), some of the camera movement and world rotation almost led to some 'motion sickness' feelings.. nothing serious, and I game a lot - so I was able to fight against it, but for a more inexperienced gamer that could be an issue, so further playtesting and camera tweaks may be needed to prevent that.. I know with VR game dev work, using a vignette during the faster camera/world movement helps, but I don't know if that would apply to a sidescroller.. Anyways, overall, great entry - very fun and colorful, cheerful music and sounds, and an enjoyable playthrough!

preda 2020-10-06 00:29

@redhermit Thanks for the kind words and all the great criticism. When working on a game you get so used to everything that you don't even notice things like motion sickness, but its also a pain to work with a world like this even editing the world had me rotation the entire world to I could see it normally and not upside down. @nikolaj Thanks for playing! I though of the clouds not requiring that but it had to do more with time limits.

vcasadei 2020-10-06 00:47

I live the art and details. The animations of disintegration (from jumping on the head of the things) is also nice. I found it particularly difficult to control in some parts of the jump and the need to move together with the cloud moving platform. The music was also nice. This would be a great game to play with a controller and just chill.

preda 2020-10-06 00:52

@vcasadei I really messed up some part with the clouds and jumping up on some platforms. Thanks for playing it and giving feedback!

cydouzo 2020-10-06 03:14

Great game! I like the catchy and cheesy music and the art, they go great together and give personality to the game. I like the physics of the character, it is very floaty and rather responsive, which made it very easy to pick up.

I have a small comment though: There were some frustrating parts when I would walk for for a few seconds through empty lands, only to realize that the path is blocked. Then I need to come all the way back to take a cloud in order to cross that obstacle.

gilad-bar-ilan 2020-10-06 08:24

Fun game! Liked the audio!

preda 2020-10-06 10:57

@cydouzo i realized that too late, the clouds might be a big too high up. Thanks fir playing and for the feedback. @gilad-bar-ilan Thanks for playing!

rickropes 2020-10-06 15:29

Very nice game, very good graphics, the controls are a bit floaty, but since its a jam game i don't see that as a huge problem, great job

nikos 2020-10-06 15:58

I love the main concept of the game. The music, sound effects and graphics are very cute. My favorite part was when one of the little donuts pushed me onto the cloud where I needed to be :). Great game!

yngvarr 2020-10-06 16:05

Holy cow, what have I just played? :D This game is epic in all the imaginable senses! :D

I love everything about this game: the way it messes with physics, the appearance of the enemies (especially a boss, it's so hilarious), impressive death animation, cartoonish visual style and fitting music. Great work! What a wonderful game!

preda 2020-10-06 16:24

@rickropes A little bit floaty, thanks for playing! @nikos Nice to hear that someone pulled off a trickshot @yngvarr Thanks for playing and I'm glad you liked it!

mog13 2020-10-06 16:49

I love the style and the music. The concept is cool and done quite well except the controls are a little floaty. I like the animation when the enemies dies! great job!

preda 2020-10-06 17:25

@mog13 Thanks for playing! The controls are in some cases really bad

eugenik 2020-10-06 21:36

Holy crap this is GREAT!

preda 2020-10-06 21:37

@eugenik Thanks for playing I'm glad you enjoyed it!

gonzalol 2020-10-06 21:47

It's a nice platform game. I enjoyed the designs.

samdwester 2020-10-07 02:40

I found this to be a funny and enjoyable game. The gravity was hard to get used to at first but it was worth it

veeramandadraws 2020-10-07 03:18

Great game! Such a fun idea and loved the art style.

preda 2020-10-07 04:20

@gonzalol I'm glad you liked it, hope you didn't have too big of a problem eith controls.

@samdwester Nice, happy to hear that is possible to get used to it. @veeramandadraws Thanks for playing and for your comment!

denzil-gomes 2020-10-07 08:36

The art really surprised me with this one, doesn't come across in the screenshots but really nice from the moment it zooms in from the menu. I liked the loop idea with the platforming but found the jumps were a little too difficult to reach and moving with the platform wasn't as fun. Perhaps moving with the platforms but having to jump to another moving platform might be a good alternative? I like the doughnut enemies, they have a nice animations, everything from the smooth walk to the punch and disintegration. Good job

*EDIT* "perhaps not having to follow along with the moving platform but sticking to it and having to jump to other moving platforms..." realised that bit wasn't really clear. I see you're using unity. If you know this already ignore me. But if not you can set the player transform as a child of the moving platform when he lands on it and set his transform.parent to null when you jump to have him move along the platform without slipping and continue as normal afterwards;

fabula-rasa 2020-10-07 10:03

I love the idea of being stuck in a cereal. The world is compelling and the vivid color palette really suits the setting! The boss design is awesome - the glasses, the hat, he is one fancy Loop! It is fun to play and platforming was well-done and not frustrating  This is an extremely cool jam game! Oh, yeah, and the music is perfect as well. It fits the setting and sets the mood. Perfecto!

The only thing I would add is some visual "hit" feedback to the boos. I was jumping on his head and wondering if that is actually accomplishing anything or am I just wasting all that Fruit Loop energy. He finally did fall apart but if he would just flash (or something to that effect) every time he is successfully hurt that would be nice.

Game also generates an error when you press "quit". Not really a problem but I figured that you may want to know (if you don't already)

preda 2020-10-07 10:44

@denzil-gomes I'm new to making platformer games so I really missed eith that, its floaty and the jumps are hard. Some people get the hang of it but for other it might be too hard and annoying. Thanks for playing and for your feedback! @fabula-rasa I'm glad you liked it, the boss was quite rushed so I forgot to add stuff like that. I tought the sound effect of hitting it would be enough but clearly it isn't. I know the quit button generates an error but I just left it there because I find it funny to try to leave a webgl game like that.

denzil-gomes 2020-10-07 11:01

@preda its hard to judge how difficult things will be for others especially when you are making it. keep at it this is a good game, just slight jump height tweaks is all that's needed. for floatiness increase gravity so they drop quicker and increase jump force to compensate maybe

neithernathan 2020-10-08 21:59

The game is very cute and polished, i really like the concept and the execution. But the game made me a little dizzy, i think the combination of the colours that are too live (they could be a little less saturated and bright) and the spin factor of the map made it happen.

preda 2020-10-08 22:51

@neithernathan I'm sorry to hear that, I hope you could enjoy some parts at least

mackandrius 2020-10-08 23:03

haha stuck in frosty loops love it  love the colourful atmosphere and sort of gentle feel of the entire game

preda 2020-10-08 23:11

@mackandrius Thanks for playing and for your comment!

kirby 2020-10-09 11:11

Nice game, very cute and cool. Congratulations)

doot 2020-10-09 11:15

Nice game!

The 2.5D graphics are very solid. The music is very good, and you even did a second one for the boss fight, good job!

The platforming controls work ok, but as always, this is beyond difficult to get it just right. Here, what was the most frustrating for me was some sticky corners on some platforms, and not moving along with clouds. Clouds were also very frustrating all along. My humble advice would be to always use them over shorter paths like one in the second loop, and to make them wait a bit at the end of their cycles.

I loved that the enemy only push you, this is very good. I like the idea of the mini game for elevators even if I personally don't like this mini game.

Thanks for the game I had fun 💕

preda 2020-10-09 11:17

@kirby Thanks for playing!

@doot Thanks for the important feedback its definitely something to note. I'm glad you got trough it somehow at least!

roboshamit 2020-10-09 11:19

A very unique experience, loved it. Camera movement sometimes gives a nauseating feeling when suddenly changing direction. Other than that great stuff!

flazone 2020-10-09 11:22

Loved the game and how you interpreted the theme. Art and music are really great and polished!

Few feedbacks on gameplay: - Jump is a bit floaty - Would have liked to be parented to moving platforms, it's a bit hard to stay steady - A bit too much moving platforms imho, but maybe I didn't liked them because of the second point

Making platformers is not an easy task, congrats!

m0dsat 2020-10-09 11:33

Nice game. The fact that gravity started becoming wierd as you reached the center was quite fun. The end boss was a bit easy, although it wasn't clear for me what I was supposed to do with him. The sound and animation when I jumped on his head, made me feel like I took damage, and I lacked the visual confirmation that he was taking damage. Overall nice job!

raffe 2020-10-09 11:37

Hey! I played it for a while, and it really started to seem like an epic game that something like Nintendo would publish if it had more levels and stuff to do and super polished. The character was super cute, and so was the whole game. Mood was super well done, and that's just the kind of a game to make you happy. The joyful music added up well with the graphics, animations and sfx.

I found the movement to not be sooooo consistant which kinda irritated me sometimes, but it's still very playable. Also some weird but minor bugs with getting stuck into a cloud, or something along those lines. And maybe it could've also made some things a bit better, if you didn't have to move yourself while being on top of a moving cloud. But at least that made it so you had to at least do something all the time.

One thing that is very true as I saw someone comment, was how different the game looks from the screenshots! It doesn't look that impressive and when you hop into the game, it was super sick.

But anyways, one of the more impressive LD entries I've seen, and you guys did an incredible job! You should be proud of this one :D

instrex 2020-10-09 11:49

Very interesting concept, great job! But yeah, as others have mentioned, the movement and gravity is really awkward, and the level design is a bit boring(especially parts where you have to wait for platforms to come back). I really liked the intro zoom animation, that was absolutely charming.

fpoli 2020-10-09 12:20

Nice game! Liked how the world moves in a circular motion. The music reminds me of my old Sega Genesis (which is a good thing of course). The character is cute. The only thing I would improve is the controls. For this kind of game I think it's easier to use the arrow keys. Apart from that, I had a great time playing it. Congrats!

preda 2020-10-09 12:40

@roboshamit Yes nausea is a factor I'm not too good with, even in vr I never really got motion sick even when fps wasn't the best.

@flazone I'm not good with platformers, never made one and never never really played them. I'm surely gonna learn from this!

@m0dsat The boss really wasn't the best part of the game, I rushed it and I didn't think of any visual feedback.

@raffe Thanks a lot for playing, the movement was pretty bad I have to agree, some platforms were too high and the player didn't get stuck to the clouds.

@instrex I'm glad you enjoyed some parts, the start on the big loop was really dragged out with only a few clouds and nothing else...

@fpoli Ohh in that case I should've had both a,d arrows and controller support because it would've been pretty easy to add. I really got out of the arrows era and didn't even think anyone would use them. Another good thing to note here!

Thanks for playing everyone and for your feedback!

commanderstitch 2020-10-10 01:56

So much going on here. Decent jumping. I loved all the loops! they're everywhere!!!!! The game got more interesting the further you went into it. At first i was like, eh, but then i was curious as things kept changing. :-) Great work. :D i beat it!

preda 2020-10-10 19:54

@commanderstitch Thanks for playing! I'm glad you went trough the whole thing!

trypants 2020-10-10 23:02

Had fun! Bit of motion sickness with the camera movement. Movement were a bit weird. Everything else was point !

ursagames 2020-10-13 02:31

Your game was played on my stream ( https://www.twitch.tv/ursagames/videos ) on 10/12. Thank you for sharing your game with us! You can find the timestamp of when your game was played here: https://tinyurl.com/yy4oycvv

frank-gevaerts 2020-10-17 13:10

The graphics and audio are great, and it fits the theme really well. I just couldn't get used to the physics though, and a lot of the time when you miss a jump it's a fairly long walk back to have another go, so I didn't manage to get very far. Not all your fault though, I'm never good at platformers anyway!

deathstorm 2020-10-26 12:30

The Music was really cool and the soundeffects fit aswell. The Controlls where a bit "squishi" and where not really on point which makes the navigation a bit hard.

But overall a cool game. Well Done
