LD47 — Stuck in a loop

SPÅRVAGN by Dustyroom 2020-10-08T03:15:01Z

This is the best I've played so far, I loved it from the time I saw the first screenshot, and it didn't disappoint. Graphics are beautiful, the music is very relaxing and I think the game perfectly captures the essence of being stuck on a loop.

If I had to critique one thing, it would be that the difficulty curve is a bit steep. I ended the first levels on the first try until the last one, which costed me a lot of tries (I think I made 6 or 7). For me it was a very relaxing experience (until the last level in which for a moment I felt frustrated trying to keep an eye on so many things). Nothing more to say, I think you're going to win at least in some of the categories. Congrats!

GIANT Sushi Party! by Barbiche 2020-10-06T01:41:25Z

Hahahaha, what a funny game! Very well polished, had a great time playing it and didn't encounter any bugs. I hate that guy that eats very fast and steals the sushi for the other customers!!!! haha, It was a great idea. Congratulations!

a Damsel a Day by alec 2020-10-06T01:08:40Z

Cute game! The pixel art is top notch, well done! Loved the simplicity of it, and how you introduced the "loop" theme. Had fun playing it (reached 15 days). The controls feel very comfortable too. Is the track generated randomly?

Loopomotive by JPiolho 2020-10-07T02:31:42Z

Very polished game and the art is very cute! What a dangerous town to live where the train crosses streets without any barrier haha!

Active Cell by Jonas Michael 2020-10-06T12:44:37Z

Wow! This is really something different to what I've played so far. Loved the simplistic art and the puzzles are very smart. I would improve the audio aspect of the game, but apart from that, I liked it very much!

You booped me! D: by detectiveLosos 2020-10-06T03:16:29Z

That was hell of an epic boss battle! Well done! The music was very well selected!

Defuse in under 5 by Darylsteak 2020-10-05T13:54:16Z

Hi! I had a similar take on the theme! I like the simplistic graphics of yours, and the idea that you can adjust the difficulty at the beginning. .

Loop Land by Préda 2020-10-09T12:20:11Z

Nice game! Liked how the world moves in a circular motion. The music reminds me of my old Sega Genesis (which is a good thing of course). The character is cute. The only thing I would improve is the controls. For this kind of game I think it's easier to use the arrow keys. Apart from that, I had a great time playing it. Congrats!

Programmer Nightmare by Cary Stanley 2020-10-07T02:25:54Z

Very funny and engaging! I felt bad for the poor guy who got stuck on the animation loop. One thing to point out... I used all all the "items" except for the opening curly bracket. Can it be used somewhere? Anyway, it was fun!

Very simple concept, but very well implemented. The responsiveness felt quite good, and the art is very nice. I made 15 points. I think it starts very slow though, I would increase the base dificulty a little bit more, but apart from that, I find that the dificulty curve is well made. Congrats!

Loopy Glitch by fpoli 2020-10-05T16:46:32Z

@lamossus You are right! I hadn't noticed the unresponsiveness until you mentioned it! It's fixed now. Thanks for playing and for pointing that up! The slope problem is a little more complicated (although I was able to reproduce it). I think I minimized it a lot but it's still there :(

Loopy Glitch by fpoli 2020-10-06T02:45:53Z

@trypants Thanks! I played your game too, and I was astonished by its beautiful voxel art!

@detectivelosos Wow! Great review! I'm glad you enjoyed the game, and that, for you, I achieved the part of teaching the mechanics without telling anything. I was really frightened about that part haha. I'm planing on expanding this game with more interesting puzzles, so you can see this as the "tutorial part" in which you learn the basic mechanics. I wish I had time to make a more complicated level, but I also wanted everybody to reach the end (at least for this jam). Thanks for taking the time for playing and giving your feedback. Stay posted for future updates! I'm planning 20 levels at least in the full game.

Loopy Glitch by fpoli 2020-10-07T16:42:24Z

@coderaurus! Glad you liked it! The fact that you ask for more levels encourages me to expand this into a full game! Thanks!

@miklou Thanks! Glowy lights rock!!!!

@etrealjunior Thanks! I played your game and it's very addicting! Well done!

@shortbread Haha, I love how that walking animation ended up too. Actually, I knew a person who walked almost exactly like that. Thanks for the thumbs up!

@dani-tufeld Yeah! I played other games from people who had a similar idea. I'm happy to know that you liked it!

Loopy Glitch by fpoli 2020-10-07T16:47:05Z

@edalbung Thanks for your review! Sorry for responding this late! How sad that you experienced that input lag problems, other users experienced it too, but unfortunately I am unable to notice it in order to try to fix it :(. I think eventually i'm going to find out what's going on. I'm glad that you enjoyed the game apart from this flaws.

Loopy Glitch by fpoli 2020-10-10T17:26:09Z

@justcamh Thanks for playing! I was sawing your stream from the start, but it started to get late, so I had to go to sleep :(. I'm glad that you beat the game and that I was able to see you play it today!

Your comments were really helpful!!!

One thing to note: You don't have to wait the whole loop to end, I was suffering for you when I saw the recording and it was too late to help you!!! You can actually kill the character (with K) and you're still standing on switches, so the loop ends inmediately (although you kill a poor innocent loopy).

I'm working on expanding the game with more puzzles, but I wanted to keep it simple for the jam so that many people could beat it quick and move on to other games. My idea is to make at least 20 puzzles, in which the bomb mechanic is going to be used (hopefully a lot because I hated coding it). You're right about the fact that there's no real indicator that you had beaten the game. I wanted to make it look like an infinite loop, but the truth is that an endgame screen wouldn't have hurt.

Also, I should have opted out of the "Humour" category, my bad... but it's my first time in Ludum Dare, so, lesson learned!

Thanks for all your feedback!

NeonLoop by aDaxxas 2020-10-06T01:14:41Z

Very engaging, almost hypnotic. I also went for that neon aesthetic in my game too! Had a great time playing it.

Looper - The Last Mission by Coding4rtist 2020-10-05T13:02:57Z

Cool game! I took a similar approach, but your past selves are more cooperative, haha! Loved the art style.

Back To Routine by Xisco 2020-10-07T01:35:33Z

Loved the animations and graphics. I found it to be really funny. I got a desease because I'm a workaholic haha. Good work!

Collateral Damage by Michael Parrish 2020-10-06T01:19:56Z

Dude, the sound design for this game is insane! (The graphics are very nice too). I destroyed the earth so many times just because I loved the sound and the responsiveness of the controls when I shoot. Congrats!

Aztec Ride by Idan Rooze 2020-10-07T02:04:57Z

This is by far the funniest game I've played. The extreme camera mode is incredible, the sound design and presentation are perfect. It's a very simple idea, but done in a way that you can't stop playing. Now I'm more afraid of rollercoasters than before! Congrats!
