I like the art style and the mood you set. I did find it a little difficult to control the character. It feels like it could be more of a point and click type game. Nice job overall though.
I certainly didn't expect the sudden twist at the end.
I agree with difleder! Controls could have been easier, rest was awesome
That's a really really fun one! I've liked so much your add to the theme and i've get so involved in the narrative that i totally miss the time (and had to look your hint, shame on me).
Some things to add to a full game:
-Improvement of the player movement (I think i'm not the only one complaining about, but in any case, hope it'll be improved);
-Some charachters variations (diferent animations, models, etc);
-More friendly UI, the text is kind of "blinking" on the screen, even in the playable version.
Anyways, nice one!
I'm always super impressed by LD submissions with story and cinematics, this one was no exception. Great work! The music, sound effects, the animations, the mood, it was all great.
the sound of the drunk guy falling down was awesome, great game!
Great game!
@jamesxt @ale @seezogames @spacemyname thanks for the nice comments :)
@agentparsec ha I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing, but I'm glad it made an impact I guess. I have a weird habit of dropping things like that in at the end of my games 😅
@diefleder @flashcash0402 thanks for the feedback -- I agree, I didn't think to do that but it would make more sense as a point and click game. Probably would have been easier to implement too tbh
@jonathanfdr thanks for the feedback! To be fair, I didn't do a great job directing attention to the day and time, and there were other things I wanted to do to clarify that but ultimately had to axe them. And yeah, at the end of Saturday I had to make a list of my top priorities and ended up running out of time just before fixing the character models and animations unfortunately. Glad you enjoyed it!
@ale Thank you so much! Using state machines, coroutines, and cinemachine in unity can make it a lot quicker to implement (if you're interested, my 'gamepeanutbutters' base code has an example implementation)
Nice game, I like the quirky and humorous feel of the game. After I got the sword, I didn't what to do though. Also, the tank controls is really hard to control.
took a few attempts to solve, but the puzzle was quite good in that regard. "Ok, I need to do this. How do I do this? Aha!", so it was satisfying :)
One guy was hidden by the camera so I couldn't see him (the last one I spoke to)
I enjoy a game that makes me feel smart at the end of it, so I enjoyed this one. Really impressive in a weekend, to have such cinematic presentation. Clearly worked very hard on it, and I think it shows a wealth of talent behind it. Good job.
liked the art :v:
Nice game, I enjoyed the story and the drunken guy fall. As said above, the controls could have been better: while a point& click would do the trick, simply making a & d translating left and right instead of just turning and q and e to rotate would make the controls much more intuitive in my opinion. I admit I wouldn't have succeeded without the hints but the puzzle was well done and I liked the graphics and music
Nice take on a time loop story. I got the sword but I couldn't figure out what to do with it. Didn't love the tank controls.
I dont usually finish these types of story based games, but I sure did with this one. Music was great, the humor kept things amusing. I got some Groundhog Day vibes while playing through the looping days.
Cool puzzle! Movement was my only major issue as most people pointed out, besides that it was a really well put together puzzle narrative, nice!
Cool idea, I loved the story and humor! I think to make the controls feel more natural, you should just make the character move in relation to camera, so if you press down, you always go towards the camera, and moving left or right would move perpindicularly to the camera's rotation.
This is a really solid entry. The puzzle isn't too difficult to figure out, and it is interesting interacting with the characters to see how things go. It is satisfying getting the right sequence of events to play out, and the ending was not what I expected. Very well made for 48 hours, good work!
@thecakeconsortium @hanra @amin-jk000 @vivien-fargette @masterkrepta @krysh @dans17 @burnedkirby thanks for the nice comments!
@hanra @judgezedd @krysh @burnedkirby I really appreciate the feedback on the puzzle. It was my first time making a puzzle/mystery game like this, so I was pretty worried about the puzzle itself. I originally planned it to be more complicated, and a programming error led it to being a bit simpler than planned, but I'm glad I decided to leave it that way 😅. Seems like it ended up challenging enough to be interesting, but easy enough that it was possible to get through (despite some missing in-game hints)
@vivien-fargette ha, yeah, I had a lot of fun making the drunken guy faceplanting and the sfx for that
@thecakeconsortium thanks for the feedback! Yes I agree, the game doesn't make it super easy to figure out where to go with the sword, and the movement controls aren't great.
@hanra yeah, I realized he was pretty hard to find when it was too late so I had to add the hint ha
@judgezedd thank you so much, this comment made my day!
@vivien-fargette @dans17 thanks for the feedback on the controls! I totally agree on that control style (camera-relative input). I've actually implemented that in other projects, will have to consider adding it to my base code to make it easier to get into my jam games in the future.
