Really clean pico-8 game! I'm impressed with how well you implemented everything and how good at all looks. I'm gonna come back to these game files later to see if I can learn a thing or two!

5 out of 5 Simple. Elegant. Polished. Great work.
Really loved this one! The game felt much bigger than it was, really well done. Accomplished a lot with very simple pieces. Boss battle was great. Couldn't figure out how to finish it though, but I will check back later. Thanks!
Pretty cool game, with a great concept
Nicely done, although...
(SPOILER)
...the red herring orbs threw me off. Didn't realize there were more than 3 to get. I spent way too much time trying to figure out how to get the three I knew about. Everything else, great job!
Very challenging! Neat way to handle branching paths, too.
@agentparsec every Orb is possible to get! None are Red herrings, just some are harder to find than others, which is probably may bad oops
That was pretty fun. I was able to beat it, but only because I accidentally got one of the orbs after passing through an invisible wall, which just lead me to mindless wall hug throughout the remainder of the game, instead of paying attention to environmental cues. Overall I really enjoyed it. Maybe the music could be spookier?
@jacob-bernard Really? Just as a warning if you do, my code is very messy and inefficient (plus nothing is marked, bad habit I know) but I'd be more than happy if you learn something!
You should upload a thumbnail for your submission!
@bookerbluejay I know they were all possible to get; what I mean is, I could only find one path that got 3 of them in a single pass, and this path didn't include the first 2 I had found. So until I discovered the additional ones, I just kept going in circles trying to figure out how to get the 3 I knew about in one pass, which was impossible.
Very nice! I loved the graphics and the gameplay was nice as well. I found it really evil that some orb can disappear depending on which other orbs you got before… I almost thought it was a bug for some time. Congratulations.
A small remark: I think it would have been more player friendly to be able to attack below and above the character (not only to his left and right).
Good job. Fun to play. Impressed on the number of different enemies and rooms. I also thought the Wizard fight was well done.
Very clean and polished game. The mechanics are simple but the controls felt really fluid. The boss fight is also really well designed, I like that he has obvious tells so the fight doesn't feel unfair. I also like how looping serves as a purpose of discovering new paths and more orbs. Overall, amazing job!
This is one of my fav's so far. Love the art style. Gives me some C64 vibes.
I really want to make a game with this but with random levels.
The controls are really slick and have a great feel.
Don't have any criticism sorry. Love it!
Nice game, you did really well in compo !
Very good game, clever and simple, above all, the grafics were very pico-8 and i really liked them! GG

Really great little compo game! I had a lot of fun finding the three orbs - I must have fought the boss 4 or 5 times. The controls felt very polished and fluid, and the polish was really nice too. The dungeon really felt like a maze and I had to concentrate (in a fun way!) to find the solution. Great job!
Really liked the game. Very glad there is actual feedback to whether you landed a hit or not cause I've played a lot of games were there was no feedback and it left me confused. Also the variety of the monsters as well as the different stages of the boss made it feel like this wasnt made during a game jam. Really nicely polished and I've enjoyed every bit of it. Well done
@bookerbluejay oh wow man ! I saw your comment about our game and was looking for a game I can play on my mobile cause I’m already in bed. And wow that was a ton of fun !! It’s incredible how the phone just changed to a Nintendo device in seconds. What do you use to do that ? It works even in horizontal doing a kind of “DS” setup.
The games is super cool ! Really loved the fact that you have to complete it at lease few times before having the clues on the orbs positions.
Overall is so 5/5 ! The game is just so polished :-) And +1 for making it so accessible on web and even on phones, for some people it not might be a thing but honestly for me it is !
Making a game as accessible as you did requires a lot of effort.
Well done mate !!!! Gg wp :-)
Always love to see Pico-8 entries! It's polished, you've got some lovely effects in, and I think the graphics and music worked together to set a good tone. I agree with your other reviewers that you manage to get feedback and impact working just right, which always goes a long way in making the player feel involved. It took me a few runs to realise that there were *also* illusory walls, but I think all in all it worked as a means of getting the player to explore the whole map. Great work!
@satolas Thanks so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it, and the mobile compatibility is purely the game-engine and native launcher, but I'm glad you were able to play it on your phone! (also audio is a bit busted on mobile in my experience so I hope it worked)
Nice game. I made a map on paper, which is nostalgic fun by itself :)
Really nice dungeon crawling game! I though that the melee range was pretty small, but you could say that just adds to the challenge. I enjoyed exploring all the rooms, finding the secret rooms, and fighting the wizard. Good graphics, solid music for a gam jam game, nice job!
That was so much fun !
The 8bit ambaince from the graphics to the music and the hidden passage were really well made, that has so much charm. And that's a finished game with that !
Congratulations ! (And ironically, I managed to beat the wizard by stucking him into a loop of attacks :stuck_out_tongue: )
That was fun. I go the "3 orbs" message even if I finished with only two on my first try. I could get 3x orbs on two differents path on my second and third attemps, but I was never able to collect 4... Is 4x orbs the secret way for leaving the loop ?
@benjamin It was intended that you can only get a max of 3, and I'm not sure what caused the two orb win. Thanks for playing and I'll look into that!
