Nice graphics, very polished and well made game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_9PaAd0SRA

This game was great ! I mean, the amount of polish on this game is unbelievable ! Great graphics, great animations, camera shake, sound effect, well designed levels ! This is amazing !

A little music was the only missing thing... (and i'm happy to see a Godot game hehe :) )

Nice idea and execution. Challenging and fun! The only two things I would fix is that you should have a moment of invulnerability when you get hit (the first time I encountered one of the eyeballs that chase you, it killed me in less than a second), and that the destructible gate still seems to be solid even after it has visually disappeared (if this was intended, just keep the gate graphics until the explosion has stopped and it will clear up any confusion). Good job!

I reached a black screen, is that the end?

It looked nice, kinda brought me back to my youth playing Marble Madness. One minor offputting thing was the ball not always masking properly when behind a wall. Some nice visual effects (could of used even more though, like for example a better indication when getting hurt). Sounds were quite nice also but got annoying/repetitive without background music and any variation.

The collision angles sometimes were off, but dunno, might have been intentional (especially when breaking stuff). I would have made the dragging start point way larger than it is now. The game shouldn't be about pixel perfectly being able to click on the center of the screen. The smallish window and it having no fullscreen option didn't help either. Is that really a thing in Godot, never seen a game with fullscreen made with it?

I would also decrease the size of the player hitbox. At least so for enemies/bullets, it just didn't feel fair. Grabbing the diamonds/keys would be fine as it is now, even though it is indeed quite generous.

Anyways, good job!

Love Dungeons so.... Music is missing, but the others (graphic, animation, sound effect, idea...) it overcame it. Nice work!

Solid entry! I love you set that I can kill the enemy in fast speed! I think it's one of the challenges that we need to select the ball when it's moving but I think if we can select everywhere to move the ball, the gameplay will be smoother.😝

This was fun! This is definitely one of the best mashups of genres I've seen so far. The dungeon-crawling is surprisingly sophisticated for such a short amount of time (locks n keys, etc).

Oh, and as everybody else has said, the graphics and overall aesthetic are great too. Just a great entry!

Really like this concept. Very cool! Dungeon diving and golf awesome!

Sweet concept! I loooove dungeon crawlers and I'm a sucker for golf games, so when I saw this I had to play it! The visuals are awesome and nostalgic and the mechanics are simple and intuitive. Great job!

designernap 2018-04-26 11:12

Great entry and execution. I started playing and assumed I had to wait for the ball to stop moving to fire again, when I found this was not the case I was so happy! great fun to play. Well done.

This game was surprisingly fun, and had just enough challenge to keep it interesting. the sound effects weren't amazing, but it did feel really good to wack those eye balls out of existence. The art style is simple, but works well and got the job done. Honestly i wanted more levels to keep playing. If you made this into a full game i would buy it for sure. Only thing i would have added is a par and scorecard for each level. Awesome job!!!

dark-roast-studios 2018-04-27 08:10

Nice idea, very well executed. The ball had a nice solid impact feeling to it, though it did feel a bit like playing golf with a cannon ball lol. Nice job, enjoyed it lots!

@jupiter-hadley Thank you so much! It’s super fun to watch your game being played.

@olivier-millochau, @larryseinfeld, @designernap, @dark-roast-studios, @atelier-duchu, @nick-rafalski, Thank you! :D

@agentparsec The eyes originally had a longer damage cooldown but the problem with it was that they quite often ended up pushing you out of the level when you got stuck between them and a wall instead of killing you. I figured that making them basically kill you instantly when you stand still was a better solution but far from optimal. Maybe I should make them bounce you away when you get hit? The gate not disappearing was a bug which I now have fixed. Thank you for the feedback!

@antti-haavikko Some really good feedback! Thank you!

There is no proper fullscreen but windowed fullscreen should work, at least on windows. I’ve heard there it doesn’t seem to work on Mac OS X so I’m guessing you used that version. I haven’t tried any other versions than the windows one so it’s possible there are some issues with the other versions. I’ll look into it.

At the end there is an end screen with your score and a button to go back to the main menu, so it shouldn’t be black. I have no idea what would cause that, and I can’t seem to replicate it. Seems very weird. It might be a mac related bug as well?

@ryan-bishop Thank you! Some good suggestions that would probably improve it quite a bit. As it is now the Golf mechanics aren’t very well implemented. Now you just loose a point every time you shoot, which I’m guessing most people doesn’t even notice, so not optimal.

antti-haavikko 2018-04-28 11:46

Oh, you're right, the default functionality of making window go fullscreen does work on mac too. My bad, never actually even considered trying it... ☺️

Just played it again and got the black screen again so it is indeed probably something mac related. Also, now that I played fullscreen, these small black lines appeared everywhere when the camera was moving and the walls had this nauseating effect of redrawing the jagged pixel edge over and over again making it look almost animated.

Is a really cool combination and works well together with this implementation.

I find the effects well made. Keep up the good work!

paulhocker 2018-05-03 04:48

wow a mini golf dungeon crawler - who knew it could work - maybe with some other rogue elements this could be something - thanks for making this

igorsgames 2018-05-12 16:19

Neat little game, great visuals, indeed incompatible genres, sound is a bit loud, and the possibility to heal would be nice to see!
