Great game!
wish there were 20 more levels
Wow, great puzzler, superb music. Gets surprisingly challenging with the later levels. Also the Theme was covered pretty well! Good job!
Dude I've loved that game! The level design is flawless and the gameplay was really catchy. I've liked so much when I realize that the "energized loop" was anitmated by the song beat, it really adds a cool atmosphere.
The only thing that I can complain is that the "red walls" animation made me kind of dizzy, I suggest that you make them a little bit slower.
But as notanimposter said, I wish there were more 20 levels, however, for a Game Jam, it was a perfect amount.
Wow this was really great, thanks. The mechanics are really clever, you did a great job ramping up the difficulty, and for me it struck a perfect balance of being challenging while not frustrating. The graphics were great and the visualizer is really cool, the music is really pleasing. I would nitpick a couple things in terms of the polish I guess, like the ending animation after the level being a little long and a few of the effects being a little soft (e.g. it would be nice if there was more impact to hitting the end goal or the red orbs). You did a perfect job prioritizing the game itself though, so it's still a 5 star rating from me!
Super neat idea! Everything worked great and the dynamic music was a wonderful addition. Level 12 seemed too easy compared to what came before it. Also the levels that were all red made me feel a little dizzy. Other than that, no complaints at all, and I'm blown away by how quick you got that all done.
Great job! Hope you keep working on it and make 200 more levels! Had a blast playing it and loved pretty much everything about it.
The Music was great! And the gameplay was fun too. Good job all around.
This was really fun! Thank you for sharing, I really enjoyed playing this.
Superb audio. Very responsive and accurate input. Challenging levels yet attainable. Love the inclusion of the unlockable speed attack mode.
Great Idea for a puzzle game. I really like the level design. Challenging but totally doable. I liked how it goes from thinking that the static loops are your friends to actively trying to avoid them because they are certain death. Way to reuse your classes in innovative ways.
Audio is on point here. Fun puzzle game, tottally loving the idea :V:
This is a stand-out Compo entry. Very well done, nice audio, interesting puzzle idea, and even a speedrun score! Lots of love went into this and I had fun beating it! Played it on my stream, here's the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/762084588
What a jolly game! Good job!
Played it live on https://www.twitch.tv/fatsheep__ Very simple but cool puzzles. Really enjoyed the mechanics! My speedrun time was 3:24.32, but I missed quite a few of the schmoves I did in the first try, so I know I could do better if I put some time into it!
This was one of my favorite entries. The concept was superb but I honestly couldn't get over the implementation of audio into the gameplay. I wont even explain it here I would just suggest everyone play it themselves. Top Shelf friend!
Like the result. Didn't beat speadrun mode, but overall the game is pretty nice and competitive. For COMPO category this one is for sure is a very nice result
Great puzzle game, I like your music in general and the one here is not an exception :)
Pretty cool puzzles, i also liked the graphics and controls of the game. Overall, Great Job !
What a wonderful and pleasing entry to end my stream on, even with the tragedy of my failure to complete level 11, despite two incredibly near attempts.
The concept was simple, intuitive, and immediately obvious to learn. The classic example of simple to learn and hard to master, which was essential for the harder levels. I really liked how much you could do in those puzzels with such a simple yet powerfully and demonstrably versatile mechanic, and I applaud you for coming up with it.
As I said on stream time and again, I have a big soft spot for games with mechanics or features based on music or rhythm. The progression and chance in your audio was absolutely lovely and actually my favourite part of the game. Everything about ti from the different instrument sets to the sound and feel of the transitions between levels was great for the audio. Wonderful job with them. I also loved the visualiser. Crazy you had time to learn how to do that amongst everything else.
I have only three minor gripes with Periphery and we have spoken about them on stream. The main one is the palette. It feels dark and washed out, the green in particular feeling out of place ocmpared to the blues and purples and reds. Juxtaposed with the chipper spritely nature of the flute-filled bouncy soundtrack and the sleepy almost-murky aesthetic of the colour pallette feels at odds. I think a pass on this may improve the game immensely.
The second and third are super minor. They are that I felt like the puzzle on level 11 held too much chance in its timing as it was too difficult to mentally plot, and the third was that it'd just be nice to have a level count in the level itself. :)
Again, what a lovely compo entry, probably my favourite of 47. Excellent job.
