Music was rad, wish I had the options for powerups sooner.
Music was awesome, love dynamic systems that adjust to the way you play. Tight controls with a a fun but fair difficulty curve. SOLID SUBMISSION! KEEP WORKING ON IT!
Such a beautiful game! It fits the theme perfectly, I really like the way you implemented it. And the art, the music, the gameplay...everything is great! Good job \o/
Awesome game! It really feels complete and playable.
Couple tweaks I would make: * Lower the bg music a bit and maybe add some variation * Tighten up the cat's hitbox for platforming, sometimes I was falling and I didn't understand why * I couldn't make it through the first level, it just got to hard at one point and felt impossible (three slide-y things moving in different directions with limited vision meant I just died there every time)
I really liked the power ups. It might be cool to introduce them in the levels for moments like that spot I was stuck on -- otherwise it means you have to choose your power ups just to overcome specific obstacles, rather than having a more dynamic choice of which one you want to carry.
I did also get into a little flow-state trying to speed run while playing with a game pad. When the platforming worked, it felt really good.
Great job overall!
@moldymagnet Thanks for the feedback! In regards to the background music, there should actually be quite a bit of variety. Each upgrade you purchase adds an extra instrument track to it (although it picks 3 of them randomly if you buy more than 3 upgrades, otherwise it would sound cluttered). The platform detection is a little weird because I coded it from scratch (the built-in system for it in Unity gave me problems). I thought I got most of the bugs out of it, but there are still a few lurking around.
Really cool game! Some of the platforming controls are a little buggy, mainly with when you can and can't jump. But the upgrade system is really cool. I'd like to try replaying it with different upgrades (I went with double jump, high jump, and light) Once I realized the background music changed with upgrades, I really dug it, too. And thanks for tuning into the stream!
This is cool! I like the dynamic music, and how you can really customize your difficulty. Jumping felt sluggish sometimes though; I think buffered jump inputs would really help the sense of control.
Nice work!
I saw this game on a Twitch stream and it made me want to try it. The powerup system looked cool but I actually managed to beat it on my first run without powerups! It probably helped that I knew some of the level design from the stream. I also really liked the dynamic music system. Great job!
Pretty cool. There are some problems with the physics--for example if you fall from a high distance you will go through the floor. It would be nice if there were more sound effects. The music is a bit repetitive but I appreciate the effort of adding/removing layers in the music based on game events. I liked the ending with the ball of yarn.
Super cute. I love the idea of getting a cat out of hell lol. I'm not super great at platformers but it felt alright. The music was great. We had talked about how the music kind of layers on itself with each power up. That was pretty clever. Great job!
Thanks for hanging out on the stream, as well. Here's the [link to the stream](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/420903849). Your game should start around [24:27].
Thank you for submitting your game to be played on my stream!
Once the stream is finished you can find the video here: https://www.twitch.tv/ursagames/videos If you want to know when it was played you can find your game in the queue here: https://tinyurl.com/y5rdokvp
I love the jumping sound effect! It made it much more pleasant to jump around. I love the light and the double jump and the shield power-ups. And I enjoy the checkpoints (thank you!). The only things I think could have been improved is the platforms could've moved up and down a little faster or something. Then again, maybe I will regret that advice. Anyway, pretty great for a platforming game! (i'm not really a platformer, so I'm just happy that I was able to beat it)
Some clever ideas here! Love the trade off of spending lives to get power ups that can help you on the run. I think using the 9 lives of a cat to justify it is smart too! I struggled with some of the hitboxes for certain platforms but the checkpoints were great!
Music was great, it reminded me of little big adventure! The different takes on the theme surprised me in a good way! Nice mood and the upgrades were a good take on the theme. They sure made a difference in playing. One of the best games I've played so far. I hope you get enough votes, because this game deserves to be rated!
All in all a super well made game! It was fun and engaging the whole way through and just the right length and difficulty. Super well executed considering the time frame. There came up a few bugs (where I'd glitch through a platform or spawn over the lava) a few times, and controls were sometimes a bit wonky- but lots of things to do and try and generally impressive.
Music was especially fun, I really loved how the instruments changed depending on how you played! Good job!
Enjoyed this, thought the level structure was really well plotted out and made it interesting to keep going and seeing what was ahead in the dark. Liked that there was different obstacles with the blocks, lava and enemies. The upgrades was also a nice touch in that they changed the feel of the gameplay.
Great stuff! Really loving the dynamic music, not just between levels but also between plays after the power-ups are introduced (a nice twist in itself, that it's not a pure restart).
Thought maybe it was a tad *too* dark at first, but then along came the power-up for that as well, so it was cool to see that it was very much an informed design choice. 💃
In the end, it proved a bit too tricky for me to ever get too far, even with the checkpoints, but I'm very thankful that you had them. Would've been nice if the landing on the platforms were a bit more lenient, I guess. :p
Nice work!
