Our ideas have something in common :) The main switching mechanic is a pain in the mass: animation lasts long so you can lose some health due these periods. Well done!

coleb 2022-10-03 00:25

That was a lot more addicting then I was expecting. I really like the amount of powerups (Although I didn't use them much since I found it easier to just run in a straight line) and the screen flip always threw me for a loop

ben-parisi 2022-10-03 00:41

really cleanly executed. Feels like a very complete game. I laughed the first time my stuff got switched. Made it to level 3.

pandamander 2022-10-03 00:47

I thought I really had this under control...until the screen flipped. That really throws you off!

Fun intense music and I also liked the pixel art shader. Great work!

kevin-du 2022-10-03 00:55

amazing! the best game I played so far.

delightfullymad 2022-10-03 00:56

Fun game, and I like the style of it all. Good work!

gruff 2022-10-03 00:58

It wont load the page on itch for me :(

mrwarranty 2022-10-03 00:58

There is nothing I don't like about this game. Fantastic all the way around. Enjoyed the retro graphics and sound, and the control switches felt like me pointing the Vector3 the wrong way. ^_^

prologi 2022-10-03 01:03

@gruff yeah, thank you. I forgot to publish it :)

@coleb @mgnta @kevin-du @mrwarranty @ben-parisi @pandamander

Thank you all! It's really heartwarming to read all your comments! I'll check and rate your submissions tomorrow!

reevest2 2022-10-03 01:22

fun stuff, would be cool to see more!

gruff 2022-10-03 02:02

I won, I beat the hexadexgonic evil mage thing! got to have another try i thought on your now sorted upload - great lil fun game, sticks well to jam theme and can see lots of passion in there. liking the pixelated shader !

confusedsoph 2022-10-03 02:44

I'm going to have this little background track stuck in my head for hours /pos

vivianmochi 2022-10-03 03:44

This is so fun!! Super hectic, and definitely annoying when it switches around, but dang it's super enjoyable! I love the music too! Awesome game!

haydads 2022-10-03 04:12

THat was fun, although, I had a bit of trouble with the controls. Maybe something to do with the mouse position and perspective. Very cool game though

cafebeef 2022-10-03 05:47

This is absolutely my favorite game of the jam that I've played so far! The graphics/audio are simple but very well polished. Very easy to start playing, no instructions needed. And the gameplay isn't something that I've really seen before in other games -- switching around the controls threw me for a loop (in a good way!).

My only criticism is that the boss's projectiles are too easy to defend against. The player's reload speed is so much faster, and your bullets destroy the boss's bullets, so just kinda shooting anywhere will keep you from taking damage from him. (Though, in your favor, I think it's much better to have an enemy be too easy than too hard in a game jam.)

rickylee 2022-10-03 08:14

What a great game! ^^ my score \o/

image_2022-10-03_091234162.png

Is there a final boss or does it go on forever, I'll try again if so. The idea is simple but you've done it so well! really fun game :)

m11 2022-10-03 08:30

Really fun - great audio :)

grilladroid 2022-10-03 11:26

Fun, fast paced chaos!

justryne 2022-10-03 11:50

Great Game! Fast Paced With Some great shooting mechanics using the theme, and I really enjoyed the music and look/ style of the game.

thesnide 2022-10-03 12:39

Great game, loving the pixelated effect. Awesome music theme.

castitatis 2022-10-03 13:43

that game gets crazy pretty quick haha. Such a good concept, the music is really good :)

flamus 2022-10-03 15:42

Good entry, loved the music and gameplay!

xpycm 2022-10-03 15:46

I win the first level!

nash 2022-10-03 16:19

Feels very complete game! The art style is a smart choice for a jam game and it is also very stylish.

Some switcheroos were obviously (as designed) very confusing. Mirroring controls is often thought to be quite annoying for the player. Here it did not matter too much since it is a pretty short game. But if I played for longer periods of time I think it would start to get very jarring for the brain.

But overall, a very solid game. Good work!

httpsterio 2022-10-03 18:10

Visually a very stunning game and everything from the soundtrack to the pieces to the gameplay contributed to a very polished and stressful mood.

I'm not 100% sold on the idea of flipping controls, it didn't feel much of a mechanic I could learn to get better at. I mainly just ran away and focused on shooting behind me, which meant that a most of the levels were too easy.

If your game area would've been a more of an enclosed arena, I would've felt like I should do more than just run and do damage. It's a very solid game nonetheless and very impressive for a jam game :)

pepjo 2022-10-03 18:12

Was very cool! I did have some trouble controlling the roll, I am not sure if it was because of the switches or something else, it seems to get misaligned with the cursor. Overall very fun and chaotic!

pinkemma 2022-10-03 19:07

Fun little game! I enjoyed that the switcharoo wasn't just left / right / up / down. Very challenging to figure out the direction changes.

nyxkn 2022-10-03 19:09

I love the art style! Very well polished game. I got to level 6 but then there didn't seem much incentive in continuing as it was all rather the same. Upgrades could fit well into this game. I'm generally not very fond of controls switching but I felt in this case it wasn't as annoying as it usually is and I could get a hang of it. Good music too. Good game!

2022-10-03 19:34

Enjoyed the art style. The gameplay was pretty intuitive, I think it would have been nice to make the 10s timer more apparent, so you could be more prepared for a switch.

fifut 2022-10-03 20:33

I love the 3D pixel art style.

The reverse commands make me crasy

Very nice game for compo !

madhumster 2022-10-03 21:56

This game is what I feel like when trying to fix rotation issues in the project:) Great idea! Loved the graphics!

kuboxxxxx 2022-10-03 22:46

That was a great experience, I wish I could play more. It's a great base game that just waits to be finished into a full game, I liked the different mechanics that make you stay alert at all times. Great music that goes well with graphics!

iguanana 2022-10-04 00:12

I really love the way this game looks! The constant switching for the controls really adds a level of difficulty I wasn't expecting, but I still won on my first try! Great entry.

kepsert 2022-10-04 00:14

Great music (albeit a bit repetitive)! Interesting (and mindtricking) mechanics! Lovely style! Responsive controls!

Thank you for your submission!

Sorry, guys, for tagging (gosh, that really a lot of people). I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I really appreciate your comments.

I'm really thinking about continuing the development, do you think that's a good idea? You can just leave a like or comment to let me know.

Again, thank you very much!

pusheeneiro 2022-10-04 00:41

Lovely graphics, and nice gameplay.

frib 2022-10-04 02:04

That music track is a total banger, good stuff! Liked the switcheroo, always felt confusing. The game felt a bit on the easy side as running away in one direction always seems to work. But it was a lot of fun regardless. Good job!

coolgunxdd 2022-10-04 02:18

Nice shooter game, the switch is good and works fine! I can't reach to the end of the game. Good work!

theseusinabottle 2022-10-04 03:17

I love the aesthetic. Graphicly this was really good, but also just from a gameplay standpoint it was really fun. I am a sucker for wacky mechanics and the moment when the entire screen space flipped and started displaying backwards was so damn cool.

charred-axolotl 2022-10-04 04:08

I really liked the hectic nature of this. It was very fast-paced and fun

cafebeef 2022-10-04 04:47

@prologi I think it could turn into a great full-fledged game! This is just my opinion: but I think you'd want to focus on adding *other things that could be switched*, rather than just adding more levels/more enemies. For example, maybe on a later level, your input keys (WASD) move you in an inverted direction. Perhaps a powerup that delays the next switch by another 5 seconds. Or maybe your health and the bosses' health switch. (I have no idea if these would be any good, just throwing them out there.)

prologi 2022-10-04 04:49

@cafebeef actually that's pretty good ideas. Thank you! It's really important to me to hear other's devs opinion

matt-green 2022-10-04 05:54

I love the 3d pixel art thing, it really made the simple models pop and feel exciting. The mechanic was cool. The music was a bit aggressive but it added to the mood (the mood was panic!).

I had a great time and I think I won, unless Rewind was just setting up a second level. Solid entry all around!

henrik-ganard 2022-10-04 05:58

Cool game. My brain turned into jello when trying to invert the controllers but I like it. The aesthetics were special and put me off at first, but after playing for a bit it grew on me and I started to think it was a good match for the game.

nardandas 2022-10-04 06:27

Really great aesthetic, I loved it! The switcheroos really messed with my brain. I'm sure the flipping of controls is overall a pretty cool thing, I just could never really get it to work. Ended up with quite a simple strategy, run backwards and shoot. Seemed totally safe.

saxops1 2022-10-04 09:37

Capture.PNG

Look great! I think it needs some better UX about telling the player which direction has swapped, but besides from that I had fun.

phillip-scott 2022-10-04 09:51

Fun shader, music was cool but a little loud. overall I liked the concept!

Good entry

osh-studio 2022-10-04 12:07

So fun, loved the use of pixel camera! Simple but fun game with an easy but still tricky goal to work towards. Well done!

cinar 2022-10-04 14:32

Cool game

r3d3r 2022-10-04 14:38

The pixelated aesthetic of the game is fantastic! This makes my trigger happy...happy, and I enjoy the boss battle and how nicely the camera throws me off! xD:) Wonderful concept! Thank you for a wonderful experience! :D I even beat the boss B)

mbrezu 2022-10-04 15:55

Awesome! First game that was easy enough for me to win quickly, almost everything else I played was way, way too hard or had a steep difficulty slope.

Loved the concept and the graphics!

prologi 2022-10-04 16:00

urjarm 2022-10-04 17:49

The music is a banger! I really liked the overall "composition" of the game and that everything fits together so well. The graphics are a nice implementation of a pixel are look and the idea is very original; even though it may sometimes be a little overwhelming. All in all, a very fun and surprisingly polished game!

elysiagriffin 2022-10-04 18:10

vader89gg 2022-10-04 22:15

great concept for a game, althrough it resulted way too confusing when the screen switched sides

jose-bonilla 2022-10-05 00:26

Loved the concept, a Vampirelike shoot em up! As discussed on the stream, I'd include an option to choose a permanent upgrade from a list of 2-3 available ones at the end of each level, to encourage replayability. Mechanic is great and the art style is not exactly my cup of tea, but I think it works. Music was a little bit repetitive. Mobile version would be awesome. Good job, especially for compo!

2022-10-05 08:54

Not sure if making another VS clone with a confusing mechanic that just makes things harder without rewarding you as a player at any point is all that fun.

Have your tried riding a bike with inverted controls? Can be a fun hard exercise for a bit.

Have you rode a bike that inverts controls every 10 seconds (but not consistently)? Well...

Also, posting this anonymously so there won't be a backlash. I'm tired of every game having the same wall of positive comments regardless how fun it is really to play it. Let's break this corrupt cycle of hypocricy :)

badcop 2022-10-05 09:48

I played this one on stream last night! unfortunately the VOD got muted, so no link :(

crossover episode with my game when???? switcheroo.png

prologi 2022-10-05 10:28

@badcop On LD52? :)

senso 2022-10-05 11:35

Good compo entry , lot of nice little details and the switch effect is realy nicly done!

zerbu 2022-10-05 17:51

This game seems to be all over Twitch. Props for great marketing! The game is good too of course, I love the audio in particular.

waffleworksgames 2022-10-05 22:58

Very chaotic but very fun. I really like the pixelated 3D graphics, haven't seen that style used very often but it looks super clean. Nice work!

levi 2022-10-05 23:43

This game is like you cracked open a can of Wako Pop and poured it on my eyeballs. Great visuals, funky chiptune music. My only negative is that the game leans on the easy side. Well done! :)

rage-paint-games 2022-10-06 02:09

Despite sucking with inverted controls, I still enjoyed this game. I'd love to see this game get developed further after the jam is over. I noticed so long as I ran away from the enemies, I could easily win the game without issue, so I think to prevent people from just constantly backing up, you could give them a goal they HAD to reach, such as saving Meeples -- other people the Wizard have turned into game pieces.

little-doctor-games 2022-10-06 05:45

Hey! Thanks for showing us your game! Here's video from the stream. (Check the description for when Switcheroo starts) https://youtu.be/_ypAI4tkaho

serxiolas 2022-10-06 23:14

I won! (Only Level 1 I think XD) And my brain recieved some dizziness in the process!

Juicy movements! Nice visuals and consistent audio! Good entry!

shibaya 2022-10-07 21:56

Switch! Good take on the theme! I really enjoyed playing the game. Good job!

wolderado 2022-10-08 08:13

Very fun game! Unique take on the theme. Switcheroo absolutely destroys my sense of direction but was able to beat the first level easily

2022-10-08 13:41

short and sweet

tsfreddie 2022-10-09 21:22

Really fun and simple. If you are planning on making the full version still being pixelated 3d, I do happen have a couple of shader and camera tricks to make a pixel-art like visuals without all the edges go all shimmery. If you would like to see that, I can update some demos when I'm awake. Good luck on your full game!

prologi 2022-10-16 19:43

@tsfreddie Yeah, that would be great!
