@spaghetti sorry about that, it's there now
Great game, I really liked it! I kind of interpreted the response to the theme you chose to be "your nightmares come to life will inevitably kill you in the end, no matter what. But try to live for as many nights as you can." The monsters being scribbled drawings was simple, but still pretty creepy. The graphics, audio, and gameplay were all really good and well made, and the whole experience just felt nicely scary. I like how there was different things you had to do to get different monsters to go away, and even the instructions on how to do so felt scary in a good way. It felt almost like a jump scare when I turned on the lights and there was the drawings of the monsters on the wall - I particularly had that "oh no" feeling when I saw the spider drawing. I have no complaints. This was a fantastic entry to the jam, well done!
Nice game but the text is a bit too fast
I thought I knew what to do, but alas, it's been a long time since I was a small child scared of monsters in the bedroom, so I did not survive the night :(
Really well done visuals and audio. I appreciate the stylised tutorial (although some text disappeared before I finished reading). The limited ability to look around really sells the atmosphere! Even in a brightly lit room, playing on speakers and a small screen, the jumpscare got me good. Played the Web build on Steam Deck, using trackpad, and it worked perfectly.
I felt i was in monster s.a, liked the mood that the game give to us. Nice!
I love horror. Very atmospheric and cool done, especially given the limited time! Mouse control fits very well.
Honestly this is one of the best game jam games i've ever played. It is so original and beautifully put together. Played it about 10 times and still love it. Just an amazing job - super congrats!!
Lol, I played with the lights on and I still got scared. This is a very well made game, every element works and the camera movement is very cool. I like the drawings. Overall, very good mood and I'm scared.
I like this game. I could really feel the tension. The audio cues really add value to the atmosphere. Well done!
Impressively creepy. The feel of seeing something, then turning the light on and looking back to find it not there is not easy to achieve but it works very well here. I didn't totally take in the instructions the first time so it would be nice if there were a help menu or something
The atmosphere is really great, but maybe the tutorial could have been a bit clearer.
Great entry. Maybe the text during the intro could have been display a tiny bit longer. But I like the concept and the interpretation of the theme. Also the mood was spot on. Well done.
I'm not much for horror myself, but this was quite a fun concept, even though I only survived one monster after the tutorial (hallucinations). After that, I stuck my head under the bed on a whim, and instantly died :-/ I was a bit confused why would go for the looking control scheme you have here, but it is actually pretty clever to separate the game into different areas, as it makes you a little more panicky trying to fiddle with controls to get rid of a monster that is not in your field of view. Maybe there should be a warning when a monster appears (to be honest, there probably was a warning and I missed it, I heard some scream-ish thing). Great game!
I'm just going to tell you straight up; I'm usually a horror game viewer, not a player, but I sure did enjoy this game. Even though the controls were easy (very responsive btw!), the mechanics with the different monsters were interesting. Gave me a couple of good scares!
You did a great job setting up the mood. Great submission!
Wow! The mood is very good and the atmosphere of the game too!! I think the speed of the texts is fine but I don't know if others may find it slower or faster. Is there brightness control? I haven't seen it. I play outside at the sun during the day and it's hard for me! I loved playing it! Great game!
Excellent atmosphere with your great artwork and audio! I definitely get a "five nights at Freddie's" inspiration vibe. I think the "tutorial" at the beginning is too quick though. The texts disappeared before I could fully read them. Also, there wasn't enough time to read the monster info on the wall before things were already going.
Maybe the texts could have "dismiss buttons," and then you could have a "paused" game state at the beginning to look around, read everything, and get your bearings before clicking "unpause" and starting the night.
Aside from those minor details though, great work. Horror ambiance is perfect, as well as the jump scares!
Thank you all a lot for your feedback, it's really appreciated!!
@eoshadows : The interpretation of the theme was supposed to be that its inevitable to fall asleep, but I may like your interpretation even more. I'm happy you liked the monsters :)
@outfrost : It's great to know that it's scary even like that! And also thanks for testing it on the steam deck, I didn't think it would work.
@tompudding : Thanks for the feedback! I was kind of aiming for that feeling, so it's good to know I achieved it. I agree that there should be a way to get help, but I wasn't sure how to do it, and since I didn't have much time, i left it out.
@robonaut121 : Yeah, I think that's what I wanted, to make the player panic a bit, having to move quickly to avoid the monsters. There is a way to know if something has appeared, with three different sounds, but maybe they weren't noticeable enough.
@milq : I didn't think someone would play this under the sun, so I didn't add a way to control brightness (though I did think about it). I'll keep it in mind. Thanks!
@saintchristopher777 : Thank you! Yeah, I'm happy you can tell the FNAF inspiration, I had spent some time with it recently so it influenced me. I agree with you, there should be a way to interact more with the tutorial (making it pause, longer, dismissing...) and a pause menu, so maybe an updated version??
everyone else: Thanks so much for your feedback! I'm really glad you find the game scary, and that the mood and atmosphere is great. I agree that the tutorial has some issues, but it was the last thing I did since I wanted to teach how to play in-game instead of writing things on the game's page. I'll try to keep it up!
Nice! I'm glad you got around to finishing your game. I had stopped by your game a few times the first week of submission and the link wasn't available. When I saw other people also mention it wasn't posted, I left it at that.
The wait is over! And by the way whyyy a horror game? Lol
This game had me on the edge of my seat over and over. You did a great job adding in all of your elements together to make this game an experience.
I see other people mentioned the tutorial so I'll leave it at that.
Very dark and disturbing game 🏃♂️💨
Graphics were good, Gameplay was challenging, but confusing as of the tutorial not explaining what tiredness is, but overall, good game.
Really great mood, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't have an extreme jump in my chair during every jumpscare! The audio was really well done and incorporating the instructions on how to get rid of the monsters into the environment really kept the player in the experience, which was really great instead of it being UI! The animations felt well done too and the graphics were great as well!
I personally think the monsters should have been 3D models, I thought at first that the drawings would be sketches of what they looked like which symbolically, that works very well like the person you play as has scared themselves by keeping monster pictures on the wall so is always scared they are coming, but for me it kind of broke away from the horror-feel to it... don't get me wrong this is a minor thing because I was still absolutely terrified playing this the entire time! Overall though this is probably the best mood-game I've played so far, I even like the text style as well!
The text could have maybe stayed on the screen a bit longer, like a click to continue thing because I felt as though I didn't always have enough time reading them. Maybe the action for looking under the bed and pulling up the covers could have been reversed as well, so down for looking under and up for pulling the covers over you? These are both very tiny nitpicks, because this is such a well made game overall with a very high amount of polish!
Overall, the audio was amazing and so were the graphics and the mood of the game was incredibly well made as well. This is an incredible jam entry that I had a lot of fun playing!
Also I want to add that the general gameplay was also great! The reason I've wrote this much feedback is because I really like this game! Anyway! Thank you for submitting!
