the html 5 link doesnt work

decadedecaf 2024-04-14 13:58

I was in the process of setting everything up @cleverdumb. Should work now! :]

sobigdrasil 2024-04-14 21:04

Heyo! This game has adorable design and characters :3 also cute and simple idea which is great for the games like that. Although i did suffer from a little time for dodge frames :'D

aevek 2024-04-15 03:14

Narrative bullet hell is a brilliant combination. Loved the aesthetic and the writing made me laugh (no comment on if that might just be post-jam delirium).

joua 2024-04-15 03:24

Best game I've played so far! Great game! I can see the references from other games interpreted brilliantly!

I loved the graphics, the bullet hell design, the narrative, and the soundtrack is a BANGER. I felt like sometimes the dodge didn't work as intended, or was I just doing something wrong (I'd dodge forward to go across a line of bullets, to just "dash" right into it on point blank range? Maybe I just pressed it too late haha)? Either way, great entry!

decadedecaf 2024-04-15 04:03

@kepsert I believe the issue is that the dodge button still works after the player dies (or on the same frame?), meaning if you dodge too late, it appears as if you "should've" dodged whatever killed you. I noticed this happened to a couple other people. Pretty frustrating, but I'm glad you enjoyed it regardless! Thank you so much for your comment.

Absolutely outstanding submission!

Everything was so well polished from the soundtrack to the cute little ghost designs ^_^ Definitely one of my favorite submissions so far!

andrewkennedy 2024-04-15 04:22

There were several times where I thought "wow I'm glad that level is over" and then level 12 happened :o. Unfortunately I couldn't beat it, but I had a ton of fun. It's cute, quirky, and fun.

arcolm 2024-04-15 04:22

really great game! graphics and music are really nice and game is clearly very polished. Was about to beat it when I pressed ctrl+w and closed the tab TT, fun game nonetheless!

ollie-d 2024-04-15 05:17

I enjoyed this game quite a lot! However, I kept closing the window on accident on Firefox since I'm using WASD and dodge with right ctrl. Ctrl + W closes the window! Who knew!

Anyway, I think the game itself is really well made. Great audio, great graphics, and a very engaging and challenging core game. Very solid submission!

decadedecaf 2024-04-15 05:26

Thank you @ollie-d! I'm starting to realize how poor the alternate control scheme (WASD, space, ctrl, shift) actually is. During testing, I used arrows + ZXC, so I didn't realize how awkward using ctrl to dodge would be.

Especially since ctrl+W closes the window, I heavily recommend arrows + ZXC to anyone reading this.

Fantastic! It has been a long time since I've played a good bullet hell and I had a lot of fun with this. Adorable ghosts, and death sound. Clean graphics. And I was able to beat it! But that sniper is the bane of my existence :joy:

Looks and sounds great, and pretty fun.

Tutorial is great, and it's great that you can skip the text.

As far as I can tell there's no real reason to not hold down the shoot button? At least for the first of the levels (I accidentally closed the window twice, and got frustrated). For stuff like this I think it makes sense to either have some sort of detriment to shooting, or just have the player auto shoot.

mertol 2024-04-15 18:53

That is a cute shooteer :)

djow 2024-04-15 21:48

Very good game! Congratulations!

lectvs 2024-04-15 23:21

Very fun game! Adorable graphics, energetic music, and a good ol bullet hell! Always love to see jam games tell a story throughout. If I can offer one criticism, I'd say add a little bit of lenience to things like timing and hitboxes. Overall very solid entry, and impressive for 48h!

luc-creationallabs 2024-04-16 04:50

Great submission, the music is sensational. I'm really bad at this type of game so I couldn't make it to the end, but I enjoyed it anyway. Very challenging and neatly packed. I'd say the pacing of new elements being introduced to the player is spot on.

oligue 2024-04-16 19:26

That was amazing. my pulse is over 9000 Died so many times on the last ghost

zhennaperks 2024-04-17 01:40

I got to the 4th ghost and had to admit that my cozy gamer hands aren't ready for bullet hell realness. Loved the music and writing! Super clear graphics and the vibes are immaculate. It ramped up in difficulty a little too fast for me (not a bullet hell gamer) but I want to know the whole story so I'll be sharing with some friends so I can appreciate it! Thanks for sharing!

typicalkin 2024-04-17 17:37

I could not beat the final boss I'm too skill issue but wooow this game felt really polished. It's like touhou with a ghostly court case and I enjoyed it a lot. :)

deadlysprinklez 2024-04-17 20:01

I was shown this game by @typicalkin and that final boss WAS very difficult, but I was able to get it down and get a score of 9m30s on the dot with only 57 deaths! I'd say the interlaced bullet walls are the roughest pattern to get down as they require a lot of precision that at times even focusing didn't help with, and I had to get lucky to get past both the boss that introduced it and the redux'd pattern at the final boss. All in all though I enjoyed the game!

drainkid 2024-04-18 01:57

Really cool game, though that fourth ghost is a big difficulty spike, having to spot-dodge like that with super tight timing was tough lol

decadedecaf 2024-04-18 02:04

@drainkid thank you!! Though, you can also directional dodge. Maybe I should've conveyed that better in the tutorial.

drainkid 2024-04-18 02:07

@decadedecaf Oh god for some reason I realized you could dodge from side to side but I didn't think to dodge upwards. That's completely my bad LMAO

EDIT: Second attempt fared much better lol

Awesome submission! I got stuck on level 8, I just couldn't beat those side-to-side patterns. It was so fun though! I loved the art.

Also thank you a ton for including a volume slider! I love being able to listen to the music in jam submissions but it's usually so loud at 100%. Thanks to that slider I could appreciate the great music

decadedecaf 2024-04-18 02:37

@drainkid LOL congrats!! one of the best times I've seen so far. I'm glad you figured it out :]

epb9000 2024-04-18 03:34

Only 94 deaths! LOL. 7 inputs on this cramped laptop keyboard was tricky, but I pulled through with a lengthy time of 15m. Those large interlaced bullets with the player's comparatively massive hit box were probably the roughest. I ended up dodging through them rather than focusing.

All in all though, excellent entry!

gabriel-bissonnette 2024-04-18 03:35

Loved the tutorial in the beginning, that made the comprehension of the game way more easy! Gameplay was super fun and the story was funny and well written. Nice entry, gg

pralista 2024-04-18 04:18

A good submission, I'm having so much fun playing this. It's so well-polished. Congratulations!

wouter52 2024-04-20 15:25

A fun submission! I'm not very good at this style of game, but the graphics are very nicely done and the controls feel solid. As I did not come very far, I wonder what the focus feature is all about?? I had fun playing yours

jimbly 2024-04-24 03:25

84 deaths later, I have learned I'm not very good at bullet-hells. I managed to get through it though, as I was really enjoying the writing! I had difficulty with the dodge mechanic, very often I found myself pressing dodge and a direction and ending up where I was standing, with a face full of bullets, instead of dodging the direction I wanted to be going. I suspect my pressing of the dodge button was coming through before my pressing of a direction, and it seems like it could be made slightly more forgiving (if a directional button is pressed while in the few milliseconds of being invisible and dodging, just dodge in that direction), and it would have felt a lot less frustrating. It also took me quite a while to learn what "focus" did (just slows you down?), maybe some explanation there would be useful =). I really enjoyed the ghosts, each of their personalities and different behaviors.
