This is great. This is exactly what I want in a game jam entry. Simple, not too much happening, but a good concept, where I have to think a bit. The art is simple, but fits very well.
Simple and great.
Good work!
- Nice Game Mechanics - Intelligent programming - Nice Art - Nice Sounds & incredible music - Very good UX/UI design - My mind is blown - Great work - wtf lol
Loved the characters! xD
It was fun and funny. When I read about one of the character I really wanted to see what the next one was, so I continued playing.
Good work :)
Artwork is phenomenal. Love it! It's a shame that I can't give a rating for graphics. It would have gotten a 5/5. The game fits the theme very well and my funny bone was tickled when Ritz Richie demanded caviar.
I like the concept, however it took a while for me to understand the concept. Before I did I was not sure what I was doing and why. To know that I would eventually summon a character, would make me curious and the way there would probably be more enjoyable.
Another idea that I think would work well is a "pokedex" of characters that you have gotten. Would give the player a sense of progression.
Overall, good work. Thanks for the experience :)
@lexgear To be honest, there could be a glitch with the duplication effect. Tests have been made, but of course there could still be stuff that I've missed.
One thing I want to mention is that the duplication effect is for items that are already in the cauldron, so if you put an item in afterwards, it should not duplicate.
If you're still stuck, try the Golden Apple before the boots, if you have that unlocked. It doubles the effects of items that are put in afterwards :)
And thanks for the review as well
@maymay I have seen that happen before. Unfortunately, I noticed the bug very late because it seems to only break in the webgl build. So I did not have time to fix it.
Thanks for the feedback, and I'm very glad you liked the concept :)
@kepsert Thank you for the kind words! :)
I had a lot of ideas. I wanted some actions to affect shop items, unlock one item temporarily, and many other things. There actually are some negative actions implemented, but no items that use it. Unfortunately, the time just wasn't enough for that. After the jam and the rating period, I will probably add more content in general to make it feel more complete
I loved it! Great graphics, good audio. Good puzzles. Some humor to it, even some story to it. Just difficult enough to keep me engaged, but not hard enough for me to give up.
It took me a while to figure out that I was supposed to just put the items in the correct way. First, I thought that I was supposed to draw the symbol with the pencil. The whole game also turned red after a while adn I'm not sure that was intentional.
It took a few minutes to understand all of the mechanics and controls, but when I did I had fun for a while. It got progressively more complex as time went, which is superb. Fits the theme, and had good consistent audio.
After a while, though, I kind of lost interest, and I did not really understand what the goal was other than killing the enemy minions. A clearer goal would be very good for this game I think.
Overall, the concept is very cool and impressive to get working in 48 hours!
Thank you :)
Very impressive to have done in such short time. I do like the concept. If I have to give critique on anything, I think it was a bit confusing at times how to do stuff and also why and what the goal was.
But, overall very impressive. Good job! :)
