LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Phone Tree of Despair by Jezzamon 2020-10-18T04:46:02Z

This was amazing!! What an incredible idea, it was so fun to play. Actually hilarious and made me laugh while also being frustrated. The voice recognition was really cool, love to see unique ideas in game jams. Really glad you added a web version so more people could play too! This was absolutely incredible and reminds me of a book I once had that had numbers to call in order to solve a mystery, no idea what it was now though. Anyways, great job!

Loop Racer by oscalbal 2020-10-14T03:22:54Z

Having the game quit after death makes it very annoying to keep playing. I really like the style and it stuck to the theme really well. It's very difficult as the purple walls are instant death and sometimes very hard to avoid in time.

Get Stuck In The Loop by el-pepi 2020-10-18T03:52:16Z

This game is ridiculous and I absolutely love it! What a silly idea, it's beautiful. I found the wall running a bit finicky, but it was still easily playable. I appreciate the quick restarts, made it fun to keep trying a level without having to wait for anything. Overall, this game was a lot of fun and a really funny idea. Good job!!

DEATH STRING by miziziziz 2020-10-14T04:11:13Z

Amazing idea that was executed really well! Such a unique take on being stuck in a loop, loved it. I found the death string hard to use, I felt I didn't have much control over where it went and was just using it in the general direction of enemies until they all died. Even after using it more, it felt that the best strategy was to run around, looping a bunch of enemies and trying to move around them to get them to hit the string and die. I'm also a fan of the channel and, as a current game programming student, really appreciate your videos!

Samsara Safari by jelch 2020-10-16T03:09:57Z

I really love the visual aesthetic of this game! Really weird but definitely unique in several ways. There were some minor issues with colliders catching on other colliders but nothing broke which is good! How did you get the visuals to look like that in Unity, just curious what you used to create it as I really do love it.

Ribbon by 100th_Coin 2020-10-18T03:45:27Z

Holy cow! This game was fantastic! Such a unique mechanic that works really well. Took a second to get used to but once I figured it out it was pretty intuitive. It was a little disorienting if I moved the character back into the ribbon when I was controlling the ribbon, so maybe some sort of transition or smoothing might make it feel better. That's really the only little complaint, everything else about this game was amazing. Good job!!

Beat Farm by Andrfw 2020-10-18T05:04:29Z

This was a really cool idea! I love this little game. It was a little tiring having to go around the water so often. The art was really nice and the loops that can be created sound great. All of the elements work together so well to create a pleasing experience that I found a lot of fun. Good job!

Blind Faith by sohakes 2020-10-18T03:31:00Z

I really like this game! The art and sound are really nice. Definitely an interesting take on the theme, and one I enjoy quite a bit. I got hit a few times when I felt like I had blocked the attack, but maybe I did mistime it slightly, who knows. Other than that, it was a really solid little game.

Defuse in under 5 by Darylsteak 2020-10-14T03:42:28Z

Amazing idea executed beautifully! Really good take on the theme. Took a few iterations to figure out how to play, but once I got it, it was really fun! Could see this as a fully fleshed out game. Fantastic job, well done!

Satellone by Weirdybeardyman 2020-10-18T03:39:07Z

I really love this game. It's got a very sombre tone and the music really adds to the feeling of emptiness and being alone. I like that the moon has a smiley, makes me feel like the moon is content to have the satellite in orbit around it. The poor little satellite drifting off forever into the endless void definitely makes me feel something. This game found its atmosphere and nailed it, good job!

Lasso'em up! by honey 2020-10-16T03:34:59Z

I really love the hand drawn aesthetic, very lovely! The lasso mechanic was really unique and a lot of fun to figure out and use. The horse riding felt a little awkward to control but once I was used to it, it felt fine to play. Was a lot of fun lassoing the cows and I love this interpretation of the theme. Would love to see this idea expanded upon further! I did manage to escape from the rocks and find my way outside of the background grid texture, but nothing actually broke so it was not too bad.

While(True) by RubixNoob13 2020-10-16T03:00:32Z

For five hours of work, this was a nice little game. The jumping is a little weird as you fall really quick when not holding space but float down when holding space. That took a second to get used to but it wasn't unplayable by any means. I didn't really get to spend as much time as I would have wanted on my game either. Nonetheless, this was an interesting little idea!

Revenge of Loopy the Turtle by Flying Dog Fish 2020-10-18T05:28:53Z

[LoopyTheTurtle.jpg](///raw/c57/53/z/3a40d.jpg) The art style is really cute. It did feel pretty easy to spam click and hope for the best. Also, if you put your mouse over Loopy, they spin around as it cannot follow the mouse as it is too close. Sometimes animals would spawn super close and make it impossible to get their bodies out of the way as even after they are "looped" they can still kill you. It was a fun little game to play, so well done!! Also, I beat your highscore! Took a while though!!

WhileLoops by Ausstein 2020-10-16T04:05:42Z

This was fantastic! Each pop-up made me more and more anxious and it became overwhelming quickly, which is good! Definitely a unique idea for being stuck in a loop, I never even thought about while loops being a possibility. Absolutely nailed it with this game, I really love it!

Untitled: Space Cats by Rainsong 2020-10-14T03:55:14Z

Really cute game with an interpretation of the theme I didn't think of. Having it be an arcade shooter makes it super easy to jump into and keep playing. For the number of collectibles, the sound was a little grating and I didn't realize why it was playing until I realized I was picking things up. Overall, it was a lot of fun, but a little confusing and cluttered at first.

Vinyl by YellowKamel 2020-10-16T03:47:03Z

A really nice little puzzle game! Was a little confused at first on what exactly I was supposed to be doing in the puzzles, but I figured it out and was it all good from then on out. Godot did seem to complain about some errors when I first started it up, but they did not seem to break anything so presumably those were fine. I like the use of a vinyl record and a family curse being tied to it/the record player. It was a neat little concept that was executed well!

Divine Drifter by Enzar17 2020-10-18T20:57:23Z

This game is fantastic! The music and art is incredible, and the gameplay is fun and satisfying. There were a couple times when vehicles would phase through each other, but that seems to be the only issue. Thie hitboxes are super tight so I never felt it was unfair when I hit something. This was really well done. Good job to everyone on the team!!

VINYLED by Kamuniaft 2020-10-18T04:06:18Z

I really love this game! The music was killer so whoever did that, kudos to you! I do agree there should have been more of an indication about switching to another track, but I feel I probably would've gotten it after a little while anyways. There was once where when I moved to a new track I immediately got hit and couldn't avoid it. That's really the only complaint as I loved everything else about this game. It was a really nice little experience, good job!

Mid-Life Crisis by swimdoctor 2020-10-14T02:53:13Z

This game really represents the theme. I zoned in trying to manage my bars until Valentine's Day. I love the little animations for each action. Agree with others that sound would really help the game.

Dinosaur Game Level 1 by JDcierski 2020-10-18T05:44:28Z

This was really good! As someone else mentioned this really reminds me of *This Is The Only Level*. I thoroughly enjoyed this game and each 'level' was a unique, creative idea. It was a little difficult sometimes but overall fantastic. Good job!!

Frozen Potency by Eugenik 2020-10-14T03:32:55Z

Really interesting interpretation of the theme! Great to see such a unique idea and see it implemented well. The soldiers talking over each other got mildly annoying late in the game as there were so many at once. But overall the experience was enjoyable and oddly kept me wanting to play trying to be #1 in the world.

Loopsky by Matootsy 2020-10-14T04:21:18Z

Really cool little puzzle game! Very pleasing to play and quite relaxing. I love that it works on mobile and pc, could see this as a fully realized mobile game. Figuring out how to use loops to move stars took a bit but once I got it, it made complete sense and worked relatively intuitively.

Neon Embrace by ARBEX 2020-10-18T05:16:42Z

This game was super difficult to get the hang of. A bit too difficult where it teters into being annoying rather than fun. This game is really well made and aesthetically is very cohesive. I love the soundtrack and they are all really well made. I agree with someone above about not knowing I had to enter the specific part of the circle to get points. But I do really like the game, so good job!

Skelehunt by Catomag 2020-10-14T03:03:28Z

This is really cool! The graphics are very cohesive which is really nice. You took a ridiculous idea and executed it really well, love it!

YOUR TIME by m7rk 2020-10-18T03:23:57Z

Really like this game! Love the art and sound design on this. Having the player's actions affect them throughout the game is really cool. Overall a fantastic idea for this jam and a lot of fun to play through!

Monotony by jaxsen 2020-10-14T03:11:49Z

This game really sticks to the theme, made me feel like I was just wasting time, stuck in a loop of working 9-5 forever, unable to escape, no end in sight, just repeating and repeating ad infinitum. Dance! Dance! Dance! Dance! Never-ending! by Egan Henderson 2020-10-14T03:48:18Z

I'm aware the arrows don't line up with the music quite right. The arrows are random and drop on a time interval, but I didn't get the music in until late so couldn't get it to be perfect. It annoys me too!

@weirdybeardyman Adding visual feedback to let the player know they hit it is a good idea that I definitely should have implemented!

@el-pepi I didn't want to put in a specific lose of win condition, so the player was actually stuck in a loop until they quit. And the box covering the arrows goes down and back up and down and up, looping forever. It just takes a long time and I don't expect anyone to play for that long, unless they really want to!

Dance! Dance! Dance! Dance! Never-ending! by Egan Henderson 2020-10-14T04:25:43Z

@jezzamon Using AudioSource.time might work, I'd have to look into that and see about figuring it out. This is the first time I've worked on a rhythm game so wasn't sure the best way to sync the arrows with the track. The game could definitely use some more content you're right and I appreciate the feedback!

ASTROGAMEIA by HOM BRE 2020-10-14T03:18:33Z

Definitely was stuck in a loop. I kept sliding around making it very hard to push the buttons, but it did create an interesting challenge and I'm not sure if it was intentional or not.

Aztec Ride by Idan Rooze 2020-10-14T03:37:33Z

Holy cow, what a great little game! The graphics were really nice and super cohesive. Having a roller coaster with loops is a great idea for the theme, loved that. This feels like a flash game I would have played as a kid, but it was made for a game jam. Just absolutely incredible!
