Really cool! I love the way you captured that retro feel. And very funny too.

anocturnaldream 2020-10-06 21:25

Love the pixel art!

denzil-gomes 2020-10-08 13:46

The folder is empty for me?

catomag 2020-10-08 14:11

Thanks @denzil-gomes! Should be fixed now.

spotline 2020-10-08 14:11

it seems the zip file of V2 windows is empty ?

catomag 2020-10-08 14:18

The website is still updating @spotline, if it didn't change try this link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1AEV_usXreixWS9mf8-zxMqOeMq2wqGCN?usp=sharing sorry for the inconvenience

Edit: use link in submission titled V2 Windows

Solid entry. Graphics is nice and I love the music! Props for not using an established engine and coding everything by yourself! I also prefer this style of jamming (if you want, you can checkout my submission, made with in-house engine written in C++).

Unfortunately, game hadn't work when I downloaded it and had to debug it myself. You messed up assets' names (including assets directory), all files are ending with `(1)`, which prevents game from running. After removing that, the game runs smoothly.

samdemaine 2020-10-08 15:21

I love the classic style of the graphics very arti-esque, the music is really fitting as well, nice game!

ditam 2020-10-08 15:28

The ice boots are really cool. Before reading the description here, I thought they were some sort of water-skis or jet pack, but ice boots makes more sense, and knowing what they are has greatly elevated my mental image :)

ale 2020-10-08 15:35

Yeah getting it to build was difficult. If you make a github repo, I'd be happy to send a pull request to make it easier to build on linux.

Other than that, the game was pretty good, and had some cool ideas. The water turning to ice when you walk on it was clever. The music was great, and I also loved the retro graphics. It was very difficult though! The skeletons move super fast, and sometimes they clip through the walls lol. The collision detection seemed buggy and caused you to get stuck rather than letting you slide along the walls, but that was actually a good thing since it also affected the skeletons. If they didn't get stuck on walls, I imagine the game would be a lot harder.

Nice job, and props for not using an off-the-shelf engine for this!

2020-10-08 15:38

oh man, the graphics look great, but I'm honestly not sure how I'm supposed to start the game. Am I supposed to run Makefile first?

For info, when I run skelehunt, I get that error that OpenAL32.dll cannot be found

momo-hunter 2020-10-08 15:52

Nice game with nice music, but somehow I always had to fight against around 100 skeletons at once, that was really hard, also shooting not only in the direction you're looking at, but also in any other direction would be nice, especially if you're chased by skeletons

madnesssguschenka 2020-10-08 18:39

The game is cool, but the grass sprites are painful to look at.

kharath 2020-10-08 20:28

Sorry, can't get this to run at all. I tried downloading everything from the google drive link but it just crashed on startup. Kudos for writing something from scratch in C with no game engine though! I'd recommend providing a single link to a zip for people to download and run.

gord10ahmet 2020-10-08 21:14

I also can't play it, because I get a "The application was unable to start correctly" error after I downloaded OpenAL32.dll myself.

catomag 2020-10-09 00:17

Sorry once again lads, i have two folders called ludem dare 47 and all the file names got mixed up (google drive thought they were duplicates and added a checky (1)), should be fixed now. This time I'll test if it actually works on windows now.

catomag 2020-10-09 00:25

Also changed the game to a zip file for faster download. Thanks everyone for your feedback!

gord10ahmet 2020-10-09 00:45

I still get the same error. Also, OpenAL32.dll is still not in the zip file, I had to add it by myself.

disco-pope 2020-10-09 10:49

Nice lil game! i enjoy the style of the sprites and the music : )

coderaurus 2020-10-11 12:04

Missing OpenAL32.dll. Graphics do look nice though.

catomag 2020-10-12 10:50

Ok, I have added the OpenAL32.dll to the thing, it should work flawlessly now.

jam373 2020-10-12 15:06

Would love to play but I also get OpenAL32.dll is missing :(

Let me know if you get it working (@ me)!

tuatarian 2020-10-12 17:25

missing OPenAL32.dll

@ me if you fix this! looks great on screenshot

gamescodedogs 2020-10-12 18:46

I don't know why but the game brings back so nostalgic memories. I was wide smiling when found a car :) Something from early days and a bit of Dwarf Fortress (probably because of the map art style). Thank you for sharing, best of luck!

catomag 2020-10-13 10:36

omg forgot to update the link, ill update it this time

catomag 2020-10-13 10:38

correct link has been updated

catomag 2020-10-13 12:59

@tuatarian thing fixed

catomag 2020-10-13 13:08

@jam373 thing fixed (added dll)

gord10ahmet 2020-10-13 14:14

I still get "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)" error. I use Windows 10 64 bit, by the way.

jam373 2020-10-13 14:46

@catomag Realy sorry to tell ya, but it still didn't work for me :(

This is the error I got: 0xc000007b

Wish you luck (though it may have just been on my end!).

pedrocoden 2020-10-13 18:51

Nice game!

kr4ft3r 2020-10-13 22:37

I'd love to play this but getting same error as poster above, Windows 10.

egan-henderson 2020-10-14 03:03

This is really cool! The graphics are very cohesive which is really nice. You took a ridiculous idea and executed it really well, love it!
