LD53 — Delivery

Unreasonably Fast Food by Skyeward 2023-05-03T14:24:41Z

This game was really fun, even if I couldn't figure out how to navigate the kitchen but I actually really love the concept of the game. I don't normally like multiplayer games, mostly because I think they're too risky to make. But this game, I can completely see why you'd want multiplayer, and I think Unreasonably Fast Food would be a great gamenight sorta game where you're chilling with your friends and just goofing around having fun. The game and the idea is silly fun, cooking food while you deliver it. I had trouble trying to navigate the city and buy food in time to cook it, and I wasn't able to cook it, but half the fun was driving and rushing to get all the ingredients. The music and audio fit really well with the game, and the art was simple but it looked good. The main criticism I have is that orders should have more time to deliver, it feels almost impossible to get all the items in time, but that might be my own skill issue or that I was playing solo.

Overall amazing game, with more polish I could actually see this being a successful game that people would base their gamenights around, would play with their friends and just have fun all around.

Spaghetti Rails by milano23 2023-05-05T15:56:44Z

Interesting game, I had some trouble with it because I kept making little mistakes and couldn't figure out how to undo tracks, but after a while I finally got it and it worked. The concept is really good, fits the theme of delivery, and is kinda like mini motorways but you have trains and no motorways. The art is simple but it's good, gives a nice simple style to the game. And the music and sound effects were nice, hearing a nice choo choo when I pressed play was fun, and the music was cheery and nice. The biggest criticism I have is polish for the controls of the game, that was a lot of frustration for me.

Overall great game, especially for 3 days. Good art, music, and great concept. Just needs some more polish on the controls and it would be all good :)

Deliverace by sbeif 2023-05-05T15:08:15Z

Nice game but I suck at it :( I didn't really make a lot of progress and I'm trying to rate other games so I don't want to spend a whole day getting good at 1 game I'm bad at. The art style is nice and simple, I like the black and white aesthetic, it's just hard to tell when there's a balcony or obstacle. The way the game is played, I think you'd get a workout for your right hand jitter clicking k, and you also have to know when to jump. It's a very tough game and I think it would be better if it wasn't as difficult, maybe making it easier to control the player with more than pressing k to add force. The music and sound is nice, for the first few times it was funny when I died cause of that sound lol. The theme also makes sense, delivering a pizza and dodging through obstacles, it's been the bread and butter idea of the jam but it works really well.

Overall good game, it's pretty tough so I wouldn't mind seeing it get easier somehow, like giving more responsive control or spacing out obstacles and making them easier to see, maybe by slightly tinting them a certain color.

Crystal Courier by Likirus 2023-05-03T13:54:02Z

Fun game, I've seen these kinda games where you have to collect stuff and then bring it back to a place to either buy upgrades or use it to accomplish a final goal, though I haven't played one where you're a car delivering stuff back and forth. The art style is simple but it works well and fits the game. The theme fits the game perfectly, delivering crystals back and forth, all to deliver yourself out of the planet lol. And the mood, even though it was simple it felt right, just you and a bunch of crystals you need to deliver to get off a planet or else you'd die, no music needed. It was pretty fun, I had some trouble controlling the car but that added to the suspense and challenge when I barely missed a crystal because I only bought 1 pickup range upgrade, or I missed the base by a hair and didn't unload as fast as I would've liked. The audio was decent, I liked the sound of the rover, I only had some problems with the weird beeping that happened every minute or so. I would've set up a timer that was formatted like an actual timer so I'd understand how many minutes I have, and then make it flash when a minute or so passes. Speaking of minutes, I think you could've taken off a minute or half a minute. I was able to finish the game just buying 1 pickup range upgrade so I didn't go crazy, 1 acceleration upgrade, and 1 capacity upgrade. It was a little too easy and I never felt like I didn't have enough time. Maybe lowering the initial capacity to 2 or even 1 would've also made the game more suspenseful and make you rush and inevitably fumble and miss catching lots of crystals easily.

Neural Rot by Angela He 2023-05-06T05:35:28Z

This game is so cool. I'm a big fan of Miziziz's games and body horror, and have watched a bunch of the devlogs, so when I saw the game on twitch I had a feeling the controls would be weird and fun. I love the mechanics and idea behind it, limiting the player's controls to make it hard to aim and move really makes you feel weak and weary about any enemies you need to find, very important for a horror game. I ended up getting good at moving and shooting, I usually stepped back to aim since it allowed for finer movement and aiming, it was really fun learning the controls and getting good with them. The game as of right now fits the theme, you're delivering the flowers to the scientist, having to go through the trouble of getting them before you can deliver them to her. The graphics are great too, pixelated but dark and eerie, and I like how much color there is with all the flowers and "rot" around the place. Speaking of graphics, the art for the scientist was cool, it was scary when I delivered the last flower and her eye was all red and bloody. The sounds are also good, the ambience really set the mood well and each shot felt like it had impact, especially the shotgun. My only criticism of the game is that when you reload you can just spam wasd and it usually gets you what you need, I don't think it punishes the player enough when you click the wrong key. Maybe that's part of the mechanic but I feel like it would really add to the suspense and horror when you press a wrong key and suddenly need to wait a tenth of a second before you can press again. Otherwise you can press wasd in a pattern really fast and speed through the reloading.

Overall, amazing game. I think with more work and polish this could be a really cool and fun horror game if you guys decide to publish and sell it :)

Delivering Justice by IgorFolz 2023-05-04T14:06:46Z

Loved this game. When I heard the theme delivery one interpretation I had of it was delivering justice, but I decided to play it safe and make a package delivery game. You guys took this interpretation and did a great job turning it into a good visual novel (is that an okay way to describe it?) with a really cool feature to double-check the evidence. I actually typed down the important dates from the receipt and search history to understand things better, and having the evidence line up and make it hard to tell what happened was fun to decipher and understand. The art was really nice, I love the style and how it took itself seriously, showing the characters and the court in a kind of manga style. I especially love Karen's design, the eyes make me question if she's really so cold-blooded or if she's manipulating us. The music also set the mood very well, I was in deep thought thinking about what decision to make. I really love the story of the game, I assume Karen is the one who typed out the intro, and I really felt torn on what to decide. Her fingerprints were on the gun but the receipt and bank info suggest she was outside, those could've been leftover fingerprints...

Overall, amazing game, especially in 3 days. I can't really find much to critique other than perhaps the genre being one of those court games, but the ability to look at the evidence from all angles was a really good feature and really spices things up. Nice job :)

Mother's Day: Requiem by jaydubbyasee 2023-05-03T15:08:14Z

I KNEW SOMEONE WOULD HEAR DELIVERY AND THINK BABIES

I had that idea too but I can't draw babies. You can though, didn't think of just drawing 1 sprite and rotating it lol. Great idea, and great take on the theme. I think you could've made the camera zoom out more when you shot a baby with a lot of power at a medium angle, I couldn't see the doctor trying to catch the baby until it was too late. But otherwise, the gameplay is fun, I had fun failing to catch falling babies. The art is nice, pixel art that isn't too high-res and complicated to take itself too seriously in an otherwise silly game.

Overall amazing game, and amazing take on the theme 'Delivery', just wish the camera zoomed out more.

Speedy Delivery Co. by kristinamay 2023-05-09T06:57:27Z

Really nice game :D I kept playing till day 15 and was left with 73 dollars :(. Was kinda sad that the last few days were just big boxes and I lost money each day, but that's alright. The game fits the theme perfectly, delivering boxes and making sure you stack them right so nothing breaks. And the game was very fun too, I had a lot of fun making a text file and splitting the roads into 3 neighborhoods, so whenever I saw the address I could look at the file and see which neighborhood it belonged to. Also when there were a lot of fragile boxes I just set them all in the back and went off lol. The art is nice, was simple but charming and I didn't see any problems with it. There were however some problems with seeing where the middle and back boxes were, I couldn't tell if I had a box in a spot on the middle because it was covered by a box in the front. I have some experience working in Love2D(following harvard's course for 3 episodes), and I think you could've made the viewport a bit bigger and maybe show some depth by making the front boxes smaller than the middle, and the middle smaller than the back, that would've solved that problem. The sound effects were good, served their purpose, and I liked the music, very chill and nice, especially when I started a delivery. I feel like the mood could've been set better, maybe with a different kind of music, but it still gave me a nice cheery vibe while I worked on putting boxes in the right place. My main criticism is that it can take a long time, along with the slight confusion with where the boxes are, it also just took some time switching from front, middle, and back. Also think that if you don't set up some way of knowing the addresses and the neighborhood they belong to and instead rely on the map, the game would be even slower. I think some hotkeys would've been nice, maybe 1,2, and 3 for front, middle, back, and then M for the map, P for the package list, and U for the upgrades. And maybe packages could be moved to a spot by double clicking and placing them in the selected section of the truck.

Overall amazing game, with more time and polish I think a game like this could be really popular and fun, I already had a lot of fun playing this game so with more polish and more content and upgrades I would definitely play this game more. Could have more hotkeys and inputs to speed up gameplay and not make you dash around back and forth to click for the map and package list, maybe even making those lists resizable and draggable windows you can put around the game. I also like how it was made with Love2D, I don't know the engine very well but I do want to learn some lua incase I add mod support for future games, so you sharing the source code is very nice of you. Amazing job :)

P.S I want to learn how to make good pixel art so I'm gonna try Pixaki after seeing how nice your art looks o:

Great Race of Mercy by Dexort 2023-05-06T14:45:41Z

Managed to deliver the medicine in 197 seconds :D This game has a really cool concept, the idea of running around in a sled pulled by dogs around a tundra is really cool, it seems like it could be really relaxing and refreshing, the only games that really come to mind when I think of that sort of idea is Assassin's Creed 3 due to its setting, but I don't know if they have dog sleds there. The controls were good, I don't use a gamepad, keyboard and mouse only, but the controls were intuitive enough for me to get right. The first couple times I started I just didn't move, so I thought I was pressing the buttons wrong, but after restarting it was fixed. The graphics are actually pretty good, especially for 3 days by a solo dev. Sure the placeholder models for the player and I think dogs are still there, but the environment is really well made and pretty expansive. The sounds are also nice, the sound specifically, I love the sound of the sled dragging through the snow. Having no music and just running through snow really set a nice mood for the game, which I really enjoyed. The theme, while it's loosely connected via the objective, it's really not too different to a racing or exploration game, you don't even see what you're supposed to deliver, so while the game could really fit the theme, getting medicine from other places and delivering it back to the village, in its current state it doesn't. My biggest criticism is a lack of navigation, I had no idea if where I was going was the right place to go or not, though my instinct told me to follow the clearing when it appeared, which it turns out was the right path. Some kind of dotted line or clearer trail guiding the player would've been nice.

Overall, really nice game, great work on the environment and animations for 3 days. The setting and idea is cool, and the mood you set for the game gives it a really nice and relaxing feeling after you get out of the woods and just glide along the snow. The game could guide the player a bit more, maybe with some kind of compass and marker system. Still though, it's really good, great job :)

Chain Mail by AdamCYounis 2023-05-03T13:11:47Z

Great game, I loved how the game wasn't too complicated when you had to be strategic about who to bring to certain missions, but it wasn't braindead simple. I would've liked for there to be more interactive parts of gameplay, because I was really just clicking buttons a lot and not watching too much, but even as it is with more content it would already be a marketable game. The art and character design was really nice too, I was watching Adam's stream in the background while I was working on my game and I was really impressed with the art he was drawing for the characters. Music was also really good, got me immersed and it sounded nice, had a good medieval theme to it. The game fit the theme really well, delivery, delivering a message and all that. Overall great game, only criticism is that I would've loved more gameplay than the same loop of sending specific heroes out on mission to level them up for the final mission.

An Ocean Planet by JamieOK 2023-05-03T14:49:40Z

Nice relaxing game, I liked the calm music mixed with the sound the ship made when it moved. The art style is low poly but it looked decent. Controlling the ship wasn't much of a hassle, and overall everything was just calm. It instantly reminded me of subnautica because of the ocean and the ship, and so I think exploration above and below the water would be nice, more calm and not scary. Only criticism I have is... not really any, just small nitpicks like not being able to see what's in the water. I also liked the lore, that great sphere probably has something funny going on.

DO NOT OPEN THE LETTER by MarcoDeevil 2023-05-05T15:40:07Z

I opened the letter right away and paid for it lol. I then went back and sent a funny letter that was a little more cryptic. This game was amazing, the graphics are great, amazing pixel art style that makes the world feel there but also kind of empty. The sounds were good, really made the place feel eerie, which is important for a horror game. The game fit the theme really well, really focusing on the item being delivered, that mysterious letter, very cool. The actual concept and being able to send people letters was also really really cool, reminds me of the message system from FromSoft games but with some more personality to it. My only criticism is there wasn't a replay button so I could play again lol. The game is a bit short, but that's okay, for 3 days this is a lot of content and is really cool.

Overall amazing game, loved the horror feeling, the art, the music, and especially the concept behind it. The only problem was there wasn't a way to play it again without closing it :)

Become a Courier by alisher_fazilov 2023-05-04T13:06:47Z

Nice game, I like the concept, I can see it being more fun with more polish and maybe a better camera angle so you can see better. The game fit the theme really well, delivering stuff to places so you can buy vehicles and offices to buy more stuff. My main criticism is the shooting, I felt like it was out of place. Even then, the shooting was pretty off, lining up a shot meant lining up the gun rather than the crosshair. I think it would be better for the game if you guys revamped or even got rid of the shooting and replaced it with another way to fight the enemy workers. I shot one of the yellow workers and he ragdolled to me and I kept taking damage and losing money, so that was definitely a bummer. The sound effects hurt my ears a little, really high pitched and sudden, so taking damage constantly wasn't too fun and it didn't make delivering stuff feel very satisfying. The music was alright though, and the graphics were simple but they looked good.

Overall with more polish and sound effects that don't hurt some people's ears, and maybe more refinement on the idea, I can see the game being fun and good. Nice work for 3 days :)

Drop Dead Delivery by Martta 2023-05-03T15:01:41Z

Nice game, I think the concept is cool, getting to destinations to do something all while fighting off enemies with limited ammo. Cool idea for a horror game. Art style was basic low-poly, nothing bad about it but it was pretty simple. I liked the voices for the ghouls, that got me a little tense as I was rushing to find ammo. I like that I couldn't find any health pickups, I think it adds to the horror feeling of the game. Speaking of, it had a nice horror feeling to it, not being able to mow down lots of enemies with lots of ammo was big. A big part of survival horror is making the player feel weak and I did not feel like I could take on all the ghouls. I wish there was more you could do to fight them, like maybe locking them in certain places, I was on the roof of the house and I thought it would've been cool if you could run back down the plank and shoot it down so the ghouls would die when they try to follow you. My main criticism is the theme, it was really only there in name and looks. You weren't delivering to anybody, like the house was there but it felt like you were turning on generators instead of giving people packages. I think the game would've been really cool if you were like a courier to people who are still alive and hiding from the ghouls, that would've fit the theme better and have been cooler.

Overall, lot of potential, good game right now, I had fun playing but I think it could've fit the theme of the jam better, not that it has to, but it was the main thing I noticed aside from the actual game.

Careless Couriers by python-b5 2023-05-03T12:46:52Z

I liked the art and music, they were cheery and nice. On the gameplay, it was a little funny crashing into things and trying to control the courier to not run into a building. Maybe I'm just bad at the game but I had a really hard time figuring out the controls and when I did I still wasn't very good. I found it more fun having a hard time trying not to crash into things and getting a good laugh but I think more responsive controls would have made the game give more than laughs.

Once upon a delivery... by SayuriNyooko 2023-05-03T13:28:25Z

Loved the graphics, nice low-poly style that was simple but still looked nice. Music fit the game even if you didn't make it. The theme, you can't get much better than that, little red riding hood's story fits the jam's theme perfectly. It was pretty innovative, I know there are a couple games (even a soulslike) that are based off little red riding hood, but this one made a lot of sense choosing that story considering the jam's theme. Concept is fun and interesting, I think it has potential as a roguelike with procedural generation. The gameplay was fun too, though there are a couple issues, mostly balance. Everything has a collider so when I got stuck after taking a detour I was wondering why I couldn't move, turns out the flowers were stopping me lol. If it didn't look as silly I'd say it's a good feature though because it forces the player to follow the road, and then when the road ends it gives a good challenge. This challenge doesn't exist though if you happen to get the dash powerup, it feels and acts like a teleport button that gets you past all the obstacles in the way so you can beeline towards the objective, so I think the overall balance of the game could be improved upon.

Overall great game, main criticism is balance. One thing I loved about the game is that you implemented an arrow above the player to point towards an objective. I tried the same thing in my game but you made yours way better than mine lol.

Reincarnation Express by Xlores Liang 2023-05-04T13:23:31Z

I don't play many visual novels, but I like the story. I didn't catch on it the first time, so I had to check the spoilers. The theme fits the game, but it's definitely not as direct as other games in the jam, it still fits well. The art is nice, seeing that you didn't opt out of the graphics that means you made the art yourself. It caught my eye right away and I'm glad I checked your game. The music is alright, sets a somber and calm mood for the game that fits it very well. I wish it was easier to skip dialogue since it does take some time to go out of hell and to the destinations. Overall, great game, especially considering it was made in 3 days. Choosing to make a visual novel was a good choice to make time to focus on the creative aspects of the game. Nice job :)

Grocery store by dUmMy432 2023-05-05T14:58:53Z

Nice game, it trained me to quickly spot the items on the list and I got kinda okay, highest rating was like 16.4. The art is nice, doesn't look bad, fits the game well. Gameplay is relatively simple, but it's fun and mixes up a couple genres. The game fits the theme of delivery, getting items a customer requests and then giving it to them, pretty nice. My main criticism is the sound, the game could've used some kind of sound, be it a noise when you click something, any music, or a noise when you lose or deliver successfully. It does also have a bug when you exit, and my avast kept acting up from seeing an unknown publisher's file so I had to deal with some of that, but that's alright. I also think it would've been good if you had cars appear on the right side too, the best way to deliver is to hold w and d and bypass all the cars and beeline to the top.

Overall okay game, I feel like you could've worked on the sound a bit more, added some kind of audio system, though I'm not familiar with pygame so maybe it's not so easy. But it's good for a game made in 3 days :)

Mt. Deliverest by QwillaK 2023-05-04T13:41:48Z

Amazing game, I was really excited when I finally got to the top and got the flag. The gameplay and concept is unique and interesting, it reminded me of that game Get Over It but you guys put a great spin on it and made it really well. There were so many moments especially with rocks and blizzards messing with me that got my heart pumping because I was so close to getting the flag and didn't want to lose all my progress. The art was really nice and I loved how the player moved whenever I tried to go for weird grips so both my hands aren't on the same rock. The audio was also nice, game doesn't need music so that it sells the mood of being alone at the top of a mountain with a flag. The sounds for the rocks got me to move fast and the blizzards got me scared because I really didn't want to make a mistake and let go for one second and die. My only criticism of the game is that it doesn't fit the theme as well as other games, you're not really delivering the flag from one place to another, unless you're delivering yourself. But games in the jam don't have to fit the theme and overall for me this game is a 5/5.

Croc Crate Consignment by aschab 2023-05-03T00:11:49Z

Fun game, was a little hard at first to control the car but after a few tries I was able to get better and complete more deliveries. The art is pretty good and I liked the music. I also liked how some spots on the map would slow you down, those cobblestone floors and all, made me try to take different routes instead of trying to squeeze between gaps. Overall fun game.

Delivery Chaos by Jithu 2023-05-04T14:21:55Z

This was a fun game lol, I got 600. I love how janky the controls are which makes for some funny moments when I'm trying to make a tiny adjustment to get a package but then keep missing and end up running into zombies, was pretty funny. The way the car moves is perfect for making the game feel funny and give some goofy fun. The zombies were a nice touch, their noises were alright, they added a lot of wackiness to an already wacky game with a hard to control car. I also loved the addition of other NPC cars that just run around, one ran into me and I wasn't able to deliver the last package, but that's alright. The graphics are okay, the zombies do feel out of place visually with how simple the town is and how they're more detailed, but the rest is fine. Only criticism I have for the game is it can be a tiny bit frustrating getting completely surrounded by zombies who completely stop you, I managed to escape by miraculously making a precise turn to get out but I would've liked it if you were able to run zombies over and they would get back up. It would still slow you down but you wouldn't be out.

Overall fun silly game, car controls really add to the janky and fun nature of the game, especially with the zombies who are comically out of place. Nice :)

Delivery! NYC by Obe Dot 2023-05-03T12:56:51Z

Fun game, the sound of the package being shot kinda hurt my ears but the rest of the game is wacky and silly, I like it. I used the grappling hook to climb to the top of a big building and saw all the trains floating and that was wack and fun. Nice game :)

Delivery of the king by KingZero 2023-05-03T14:04:58Z

I liked the concept of the game, nice little puzzle game where you gotta find a book, looks like you would've went through a big dungeon. The music was pretty good, I danced to it a little when I heard it and I can see how it would've taken most of your time. Personally I believe gameplay and level design should be focused on first, it would've been nice to see the stuff you implemented in the test level get included in the main level. It was a calm and relaxing game though, the kind you'd play while you're chilling and want to get your brain working a bit. Art style was also okay, low-poly, simple, but it tells you what it needs to tell you. Overall decent game, more could've been done on level design and content, but I can see a lot of potential with this kind of game.

Dungeon Delivery by squareronin 2023-05-03T14:33:45Z

Cool game, really great for a first game jam. I like the concept, running up and down to deliver stuff to merchants and probably braving through obstacles and monsters along the way sounds fun. I think you could've added some way to know where each merchant was, maybe a little minimap. I also think it would've been better to have an easier way of getting back up to the packages. The wall climbing was really more of a problem and that might be part of the game, but it made parkour pretty frustrating. I always had to step away from a wall before I jumped. The sounds were alright, simple and satisfying, the art was also nice, there could've been more in the environment but this is a 3 day jam so it's alright.

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-03T13:34:56Z

@jminor thanks a lot for the feedback! I should've mentioned to follow the arrow in the menu. I'll try out PICO-8 and TIC-80 and try to improve my pixel art, right now I think art is my biggest limitation, I find it's harder to work on a game when you're not seeing the results clearly and only seeing a bunch of squares and capsules moving.

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-03T13:40:27Z

@tom-wadley thanks. I made a mistake in the basic architecture of the game, each house requests a package which spawns, and when they spawn the house that requested that package becomes the only house that package scores on. When the player picks it up, it destroys the object and stores the package's scriptable object and requested house in lists. Then when the player shoots the package it sets the requested house of the package after spawning it using the data from the scriptable object. The main flaw is houses can't check if their requested package is gone so they sit there waiting till the delivery is failed. And if the house did time out, the package that was around still gave you score if you shot it at the right house.

Thinking about it now I should've just randomly spawned packages and then have the arrow point to the house closest to time out, then you'd have to match the package you have equipped to the kind of package the house is requesting. I'm glad you enjoyed the concept though :)

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-03T13:41:33Z

@hatheus Thanks! I'll look at the code and see if I made a mistake, I don't remember dumbbells never scoring, could be that bug I described to tom-wadley.

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-03T13:42:27Z

@jithu Thanks, if I ever pick it back up I'll definitely polish it and probably move the package spawner to a city and keep the houses in like a residential area with lawns instead of one big field.

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-03T13:44:24Z

@martta 1005 is a lot o: Yeah I loved that feature, when I realized I could do it I had to add it in. Art and sound design aren't my strong suit, I'll be working on that though. Now that you mention it, having a highlight on the house you had to deliver sounds a lot better than an arrow pointing at the house.

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-03T13:55:06Z

@dummy432 thanks :)

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-03T14:08:41Z

@cosmogonicfrog If I pick this back up I'll definitely focus more on the knockback and refine it, it clashes with the player's movement which directly changes the position instead of using a rigidbody.

I still need to learn what resolutions work for art, especially pixel art, and need to improve there. Most of the sprites are 256x256, 128x128, etc. I had ideas to add about double the houses in the game right now but it got chaotic very quickly, probably should've lowered the max zoom.

The arrow was kinda hard for me to work on, once I was done with it I didn't touch it. If I pick it back up I might scrap it and instead make a highlight for the house that you need to deliver to.

Also 1000 points is pretty nice o: round and clean :)

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-03T14:09:59Z

@amedea Thanks! A lot of the objects in the game had their scale modified in the editor, so I think I could've made the actual sprites bigger, or put them on the same spritesheet to get the sizes right. I should've made the houses and icons bigger though, thanks for the feedback.

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-03T14:27:08Z

@milano23 Thanks! This is my 2nd game jam and my first one I didn't finish the game, so getting this done was huge. I'll scale my art up next time.

Funny enough I made it so you couldn't pick up the packages within the first second because when you shot a couch it got picked back up because it was so big lol. They're really heavy. I didn't have enough time to add a decent song in the end, so I chose to just have none. Glad you had fun :)

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-04T03:07:19Z

@stupidhobbit Thanks :) I should've explained how to play the game better than I did. I was trying to make the arrow run to the edge of the screen and then go to the house you need to deliver to when it's on the screen but I couldn't get it to work lol

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-05T15:00:09Z

@marcodeevil Thanks :) I got my TODO list for when I remake the game as a full game. Goodluck to your future endeavors too :)

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-06T05:01:31Z

@lucas-taniolo Yeah I'll add in a highlight when I pick the game back up, thought the arrow would help but I wasn't specific enough in the instructions lol. I'm glad you had fun though, thanks so much for rating and leaving feedback, now I got those 20 rates :D

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-06T14:23:47Z

@nizanth-p :D Thank you. I'll scale my art better so it's easier to see, it really is my weakness right now.

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-07T04:31:22Z

@stagyl Thanks :D I originally made the shooting part first then decided to add knockback to make the cannon feel powerful and loud when you shot it. Then I realized I could make the player just shoot for knockback, then I imagined sweaty players jitter clicking so they can get the most speed and then I just had to add it.

Making the system choose box automatically sounds like a really good idea actually, I didn't consider it when thinking of new features for the game, but I'll definitely give it a try when I remake the game.

DeliverY by StaGYL 2023-05-06T08:11:52Z

That was actually really fun, was one of those games that made me really think on how to solve the puzzle. I don't play many puzzle games but this one was really fun and creative :) The graphics were simple but they fit the game and gave it a nice feeling, especially with the music setting a nice happy mood and helping me not get frustrated when I made a mistake trying to solve the level. The last one in particular was tough, but I managed to finish it. The game fits the theme really well too, delivering a letter to the word it belongs to, it took me a few minutes to understand that you had to make the word victory though, so I had to do what that one guy did and ask chatgpt to form a word using the letters on the second level lol. My main criticism is it takes a while for you to move around, maybe decreasing the time it takes to move around would be nice so the levels wouldn't take as long.

Overall really nice game, fun, creative, good art and music, and very cool concept. Just wish it would go a little faster, but that's about it. Nice work :)

Flap, Flap, Drop! By Equal Energy And Lachlan5150 (Purplishlilac) by EqualEnergy 2023-05-06T14:29:45Z

This isn't supposed to be funny, I'm supposed to be mature, but I found it pretty funny lol. I didn't think someone would make a game on scratch for the jam, but here we are. Pretty funny game, the music and sound effects really sell the game's mood and funniness. The art is obviously a parody of flappy bird but it only makes it funnier. The theme actually fits pretty well and this game is definitely a different take on flappy bird's usual game design by letting you drop stuff in the pipe. I do wish the game was harder in some way, maybe by making the game bigger and having pipes on top like in the original game, but it's fine.

Funny game, obviously silly but still fun to play, even fits the theme of the jam. I also find it impressive you made this on scratch within 3 days, that's pretty cool too.

Postman Bat by Tom Wadley 2023-05-05T14:47:42Z

This game was really cool, I love the idea of being a bat who has to sense their way through the environment with echolocation, and so it only gives you brief glimpses of the world in order to navigate. I haven't seen any games that do this but that might be because I don't play enough games lol. While making the player a bat and having them fly is a logical and fair decision, I think the game might have been better off if the player couldn't fly and had to deliver things on foot, so you couldn't just fly over everything and drop letters from very far away. It was still cool though and I loved the idea, I also loved the texture and how the world looked whenever you used your echolocation, it added to the mystery of the world and was really cool. I could see this idea being perfect for a horror game where you have to run from monsters while getting a location, and you only have a few glimpses of the monster's shape rather than the monster itself. The game fit the theme pretty well too, being a bat that has to deliver letters to places for Dracula is pretty cool and could make for a cool story. My main criticism is that there's not really any sound, sound plays a pretty big role in games and not having any can make the game feel empty and dead, which could be the theme this game is going for but even some little ambience or flapping or paper swooshing would've been nice. It would've helped set whatever mood the game was going for really well. I also wished there was a way to use echolocation without flying, that would be a nice feature.

Overall, nice game, amazing idea, cool graphics. It could use some sound, but just because it has no sound doesn't mean it's bad, especially for a 3 day game jam. Very well made, awesome work :D

P.S Tho bats aren't blind lol

Apocalyptic Pizza by hatheus 2023-05-05T15:23:32Z

Game is good but it's really frustrating a lot of the times because it's really easy to get stuck in cracks and get pinned by zombies. Usually one little mistake will cost the game and with no way to restart I ended up having to exit and open the game like 10 times before I was able to deliver 1 pizza. The theme fits pretty well and I like the setting, zombie apocalypse is going on but people still want their pizzas lol. The procedural generation is unique and really impressive, great job there. It's just some more play-testing and understanding how easy it is to get stuck and lose would've been nice, giving the player a way to comeback from their mistakes and not die when they make 1 is pretty important unless you're looking to make one of those rage games.

Overall, the game has a great idea and it fits the theme pretty well, but the actual gameplay and fun of the game is lacking, delivering that 1 pizza after so many failed tries was satisfying but I don't think I would play the game for too long if 1 tiny mistake meant losing. I'd suggest changing the way the car moves so that it can move out of cracks and with bodies under it, and give it a way to build speed while being surrounded by zombies.

Infobahn by CosmogonicFrog 2023-05-05T14:28:41Z

Really nice game got 644 points :D I love the aesthetic, looks really retro but still cool. The music set the mood really well with a very techy feeling, and is also pretty well made. Gameplay is simple but fun, and I like how it says when the game speeds up, that's nice. The game also fits the theme pretty well, being an IP delivering packets is definitely a more unique take on the Delivery theme, I like it. My only criticism is that it can be a little hard knowing when you're able to deliver a packet when you just get to a wall with a square on it, and the camera angle makes it hard to tell when a firewall has passed or not, ended up running into a few of them instead of getting just past them. That might be my own skill issue though.

Overall cool game, I love the idea and aesthetics and music, very nice :)
