hey miziziziz, great game again! watched the live streams of the development (and cant wait for the post-mortem) and i need to say that the music and the art are fire! but the movement system takes a while to get used to, you could add more health pickups to make it easier. overall great game, love the environment and the lore! and you might wanna change this lol

Game closed when pressing "Enter" when the wall of decay is meant to let you through. Other than that great game, the controls were confusing at times and it was difficult to maneuver where I needed to go, but that's the point lmofa I didn't think the amount of health pickups was too small, I think it was just right. One thing I will mention is it wasn't clear what weapon was selected when looking at the UI. I know the weapon is shown on the player, but it should be clear on the UI as well imo.

This was pretty compelling, but it keeps crashing on me:

``` ERROR: Condition "slot >= slot_max" is true. Returning: nullptr at: get_instance (./core/object/object.h:972)```
It looks like [a bug in the engine](https://github.com/godotengine/godot/blob/master/core/object/object.h#L971) so it's not something you can be held responsible for.
I'll just rate based on what I was able to play (up to just a little bit after meeting the scientist).
badpiggy 2023-05-03 13:19
Unfortunately even I was only able to get till the scientist I think. I went through 2 doors. One instantly crashed the game, and one led to another room where I killed some monsters, and then the game crashed after I exited the room
Splendid graphics, audio, atmosphere! I found it extremely hard to navigate about at all so the first moving enemy was much too much for me. I would have liked to continue and I like the idea of how the uncoordinated controls work but it just was too hard for my brain. Perhaps if the character wouldn't be turning on the spot when walking one leg forward, but dragging the other leg after and slowly turning, then it would have had the same principle but easier to get where one wants :thinking:
Words cant explain how impressed i am by this game it felt more like i was playing a fully made release instead of a game jam game. The gameplay was fresh interesting, challenging but fair. The story was great and the audio and graphics where incredibly immersive. I love this, through and through
agudar 2023-05-04 17:44
love the bloodyiee
arya-s 2023-05-05 15:58
Incredible mood, art, sfx and music. Unfortunately I struggle too hard with the controls. In that regard it's tuned a bit too rough for me. Maybe a partial auto-aim would help with this, the movement alone is already challenging, aiming with it is even harder.
I love the idea behind this though, hopefully I'll make it past the two monsters at the start eventually D:
Really cool submission!
xk-the-name 2023-05-05 21:30
Wow! So much content. Very clever mechanics. I had some hotline miami vibes in this for some reason and I love it!
stellarr2 2023-05-06 05:35
This game is so cool. I'm a big fan of Miziziz's games and body horror, and have watched a bunch of the devlogs, so when I saw the game on twitch I had a feeling the controls would be weird and fun. I love the mechanics and idea behind it, limiting the player's controls to make it hard to aim and move really makes you feel weak and weary about any enemies you need to find, very important for a horror game. I ended up getting good at moving and shooting, I usually stepped back to aim since it allowed for finer movement and aiming, it was really fun learning the controls and getting good with them. The game as of right now fits the theme, you're delivering the flowers to the scientist, having to go through the trouble of getting them before you can deliver them to her. The graphics are great too, pixelated but dark and eerie, and I like how much color there is with all the flowers and "rot" around the place. Speaking of graphics, the art for the scientist was cool, it was scary when I delivered the last flower and her eye was all red and bloody. The sounds are also good, the ambience really set the mood well and each shot felt like it had impact, especially the shotgun. My only criticism of the game is that when you reload you can just spam wasd and it usually gets you what you need, I don't think it punishes the player enough when you click the wrong key. Maybe that's part of the mechanic but I feel like it would really add to the suspense and horror when you press a wrong key and suddenly need to wait a tenth of a second before you can press again. Otherwise you can press wasd in a pattern really fast and speed through the reloading.
Overall, amazing game. I think with more work and polish this could be a really cool and fun horror game if you guys decide to publish and sell it :)
npckc 2023-05-06 06:27
i loved this! i had a hard time with the controls at first but i feel like it fits the mood of the game very well. i got very good at reloading with the arrows after dying many times!
ryanansberry 2023-05-06 18:58
I enjoyed the reloading quick time event. It really increased the tension of combat. Great Job!
mediflect 2023-05-07 05:31
Loved it! The controls were fresh and unique, and they do a great job of selling the feeling of being riddled with infection. The fact that the enemies move around the same way you do was a great immersive touch. I thought that I could cheese the reload mechanic by just mashing the keys, but when I realized it's the same sequence everytime it made so much more sense. The art and music were absolutely on point, and combined created an eerie, mysterious mood that was just lovely. One of my favorites!
sodoj 2023-05-07 19:44
What a rad game, the concept is hilarious, yet challenging and engaging. I love everything about the visuals and core design! The only real gripe I have with the game is that the rotating camera was on by default. I left it on because I had no idea what it did and what kind of game I was getting into and it proved to be really annoying, so I had to restart the game to turn it off.
It's also possible to get suck in the game, but luckily there is a reset button!
Overall, this is a really polished and surprisingly meaty jam game, definitely one of my favorites this jam!
snakemuho 2023-05-07 20:41
My right hand hurts and I want more
uppitydonkey57 2023-05-08 00:42
Interesting game! I looovvvee the graphics. I really liked the movement mechanics too. However I don't really see how this fits the theme.
firespike33 2023-05-08 00:45
Really cool music and atmosphere, and an impressive amount of content. The wonky controls are fine once you get used to them and add to the horror element of it. The most important trick for me to learn was using backstepping to aim better, so maybe include a tip about doing that (unless that's already in there and I missed it).
Some minor issues: The reload microgame can be cheesed by just mashing all the arrow keys. The camera was kinda annoying and I would have liked to be able to control it manually, but I did get used to it after a while. The weapon select thing in the UI was a bit confusing and I would have preferred if they all stayed in a consistent order, with the currently equipped weapon being highlighted in a more obvious way (like being green). The fullscreen scaling looks really rough on my 1080p monitor.
frelude 2023-05-08 08:29
Great mood, driven by awesome art, good sounds feedback and ambient music. You try something fresh with the controls, but it make it hard too aim, too much for time I had. You surely iterate on it, but I wonder how it would be to turn has long as you hold the button, or to the opposite move according to the grid below ?
Other than that I want to know more on the story. The polish is good. Great game.
tempestcognitor 2023-05-10 11:38
Wow, holy crap. This game is atmospheric as all heck. The controls were really awkward to begin with, but by the end of the game I'd gotten used to them, and it just made all the rooms to clear that much more terrifying. The music really adds to the tension as the enemies spot you, and even though I could cheese them in some corridors, I felt like I needed that to get used to the shooting and the movement. Great game!
thaprofesional 2023-05-10 11:49
Great graphics and phenomenal music along with an amazing world create the coolest atmosphere.
Really dug the difficult controls they added a lot of flair and while challenging to get used to they were also rewarding to get on top of. Really appreciated the slower moving backwards to help with aiming. Reloading mini-game was great - easy until there was a bit of pressure then just stressful enough.
Agree with a few other commenters the weapon selection was difficult to decipher - I found it easier to just look at the character to see what they were using.
I'd definitely love to keep playing / see where the story goes.
kierogi 2023-05-10 11:56
So unsettling and stressful. I'm not a fan of horror but I can appreciate it! I managed to cheese my way in parts but I feel like that's only fair with the difficulty of the controls. Looks good and sounds good and I liked the challenge of even just moving around!
atmospherium 2023-05-15 19:38
This was EXCELLENT - everything, including the wonky controls (especially the shotgun recoil), felt like it was all working together to sell the story being told. From the very first moment it's clear that you, the character, are struggling - but it never feels like you, the player, are trapped. The game was challenging without feeling overbearing. I don't enjoy the controls, per se, but they were perfectly done for this experience. The art is killer - everything feels incredibly grimy and textured and organic. Only complaint is I wanted more creepy scientist eye chick. The audio was also really effective in selling the mood but also in providing feedback to the player. I'll have to go back and read the notes - I admit I got impatient - but the story hints and overall vibe were really engrossing.
robobarbie 2023-05-19 15:14
loved this experience, even though i am dog shit at it!!!!!!! the mood was perfectly set by the art/music and the controls (while throttling my world) were intuitive and felt smooth. nice job!
alexrose 2023-05-19 16:52
Really enjoyed the vibes of this. The mechanic at first is super hard but after a few stages you get the hang of it, especially once you have the shotgun and smg. Beautiful graphics, the girl gives me Elden Ring vibes (maybe that's because I'm basic and there is a much better comparison than that haha)
The health system was cool, it was the right level of forgiving where I get my stuff back, I liked the reload mechanic, the level of health given out seemed appropriate too
All in all great entry
