Hahaha, I opened the letter ;)
Great game!
Very cool. The horror aspect made it interesting. I like that there's a branching story here.
I really liked the dialogues with the letter. The mechanics of the tic-tac-toe game are very cool. The sound is pleasant in the game.
The 1st time I opened the letter straight away to see what happened :). I really like the atmosphere and the premise. Good work.
I really tried to do what I was told, but I got lost and then temptation got the better of me!
Love the concept. What player wouldn't give into immediate temptation? Great use of the theme as well.
A unexpected great horror game, under the mild theme - delivery. The mood is the best in this LD, which keeps reminding me scary stories and films. I bet I won't be able to sleep well tonight.
Btw the link in the LD page for the download is broken !
Very nice concept, I tried multiple runs to see what would change (even though I couldn't replay the game in the web version. But sadly the game is not really that scary :p
One thing that could be improve is the overall flow of the level, to make sure the player has all the necessary information in the proper sequence, as to build up the world.
Sry guys I didn't felt horror in the game
But good interpretation in theme itself
First, I felt scared but it was too too easy!!!
I completed both the endings and story wise it was ok!!
Play my game guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sadly could not find any bugs ;) Good creepy atmosphere with nice assets. Loved playing it
It was a very fun game! I love how you managed to create a horror atmosphere with so few lines of dialogue and interactions. The rock-tac-toe was instantly intriguing and very subversive! And the sounds complement the spooky vibe , very cool! Also, the cutest dia-log ever :) (couldn't figure out how to open it lol)
Check out our game as well if you feel like it :p
This is a very unique and cool game! The dialog, art, and music all combined to make a creepy and immersive aesthetic. I had a great time playing it. Awesome job!
Cannot resist to open the letter :D Nice game!
i cant believe i got jumpscared by a literal piece of mail.
10/10, would get sent to jail for 5 years for violating 18 U.S. Code ยง 1702 again. loved the message mechanic.
Thanks everyone for feedback, community's letters so far if anyone is interested :D db.png
Great job here. The mood was perfect. Honestly, the creepiest game I've played for LD.
Really liked the mood and style here, and everything seemed to work as intended, though I did notice at the game over screen you can continue hitting the interact key to get killed repeatedly haha.
A very cute "horror" game! I don't normally enjoy horror anything, but this was just the right amount of creepy. Also, I opened the letter immediately on my first run... and got a nice little message from someone. Very fun mechanic, to leave messages for other players! I hope no one makes you regret that. Nicely done! :tada:
Took a bit to find my way around, but very cute!
I like the atmosphere and the dialogues, nice game! The jump scare was nice! But of course I couldn't help but open the letter ^^
Nice atmosphere, I like it!
This game is like good cripy pasta. Like it! The blood runs cold 0_0
Very nice game. I really like the atmosphere. Impressive that you did this in 3 days good job!
Liked the game a lot, the graphics look great and the atmosphere is great too. Just had a small problem on my monitor because I really couldn't see anything outside of the light because it was too dark :)
As a fan of Undertale/Deltarune, it was really cool for me! I hate screamers, but you were kind with it haha.
I opened immediately the letter, even before talking to the NPC. Looks like I'm used to this kind of game! I played the game twice to see the different paths. The ambience was absorbing.
That's exactly the kind of game I like, and that I love to create too. Good job to everyone, really! And very good idea to let us write the letter at the end, even if I'm not sure someone will read my message one day!
Played the game twice just so i could deliver the letter. I kind of instantly opened the letter on my first run ... Great game
I delivered the letter intact the first time, then played it again to open the letter before delivering it. I liked the creepy atmosphere and the characters. The rock paper scissors was a nice touch, as was the interaction between players leaving notes.
I love this idea for a game! Great entry, had a lot of fun!
So adorable yet scary! Love it
As many of others I've opened the letter quite fast oops I like the spooky atmosphere of the game and conversations with random stuffs !
Not a ton of gameplay, but a solid small-scale experiment where interactions all branch based on whether you've opened the letter. Delivering letters between players is a nice take on the theme.
I followed the instructions to the letter! It was moody to walk around, I liked the lighting especially. When I was writing my letter, I was still walking around and talking when I used wasdf. Whoops! I used the desktop version so my letter might be properly passed on.
Excellently done, I would definitely pick up a longer-form version of this!
This was a much more immersive experience than I would expect form a game jam, very well done!
@kinart @james-laird @lola-linuesa I update my comment with db status, from time to time! You can see ur message is there. Unfortunately we cut letters at 80 string length, so sometimes not all content can make it. Next time if we will want to implement something that "connects" community we will do it better, i like the fact that you can always learn something from these Ludum Dare projects. Anyway thanks for playing!
Thing with web build not getting and posting letters is that we did not use web sockets so webgl can't communicate with our proxy db, thanks for using windows version :D Part of sending/receiving letters with other players is just a small smile towards community, so it's not crucial thing :). Tbh we thought that some people would like leave troll messegas in letters, but we are suprised that LD community is so wholesome and your messages are great!
Thanks to everyone for playing, rating and leaving feedback!
I opened the letter right away and paid for it lol. I then went back and sent a funny letter that was a little more cryptic. This game was amazing, the graphics are great, amazing pixel art style that makes the world feel there but also kind of empty. The sounds were good, really made the place feel eerie, which is important for a horror game. The game fit the theme really well, really focusing on the item being delivered, that mysterious letter, very cool. The actual concept and being able to send people letters was also really really cool, reminds me of the message system from FromSoft games but with some more personality to it. My only criticism is there wasn't a replay button so I could play again lol. The game is a bit short, but that's okay, for 3 days this is a lot of content and is really cool.
Overall amazing game, loved the horror feeling, the art, the music, and especially the concept behind it. The only problem was there wasn't a way to play it again without closing it :)
The longest I played in the jam so far. Liked the story and some puns. Had to guess plenty, knowing where it's going, but that really touched the mood, thanks!
Fun and creepy game with nice art and sounds! I can't even say which version I liked better: opened letter is so ominous, but with non-opened letter the world is much creepier. The creepiest part was: if you enter = in the letter it changes to Alice. Who's Alice and what is she doing in my letter? 0_0 Cool game, I wish you had more time to make it longer.
Great creepy mood! I liked how everything is ominous, but the interactions change when you open the letter. Also, great idea to have some interactivity between players, that should earn you good scoring in innovation! I also left a message. I enjoyed the minigame of tic tac toe too :)
The game felt polished with good pixelart and soundscape. Only thing that gave a little unfinished feeling was that you couldn't quit the downloadable game even in the end without alt+F4.
Great job overall!
Loved the idea of connecting the community writing letters for each other :) Enjoyed running through the game to see all the dialogue. I wish the knife was used for something though!
My first time I clicked on the letter first thing and it said stop hitting it. So I kept clicking it and unintentionally opened it
It's an interesting little horror game. It's not very scary, but it was enjoyable to play. It was interesting to see different storylines. The pixel art graphics are very pleasant and beautiful.
