I really enjoyed this; I will unironically be coming back after the ratings are done to play more aha. The only thing it felt like it was missing to me was an explanation of what was classed as more efficient/better parcel layout. Great job :)
nice game .felt it would be nice to have hint for optimal arrangement of parcel
What a satisfying game! Stacking boxes was really fun. I didn't really feel any negatives not ordering the parcels by address, but I'm sure I could have reached higher stats with it. Is the game endless? I ran out of time to play on day 11. Overall, great entry.
@ntimi there are 300 total boxes, so it goes as long as it takes you to deliver them. But it does randomize them each time so it's different each time you play. Thank you for playing!
Great game! Really enjoyed it a lot. The upgrades didn't feel like they changed a lot and I am not sure about the limited amount of packages and running out of money at some point, but overall I did enjoy it a lot - one of my favorites so far!
Really nice game :D I kept playing till day 15 and was left with 73 dollars :(. Was kinda sad that the last few days were just big boxes and I lost money each day, but that's alright. The game fits the theme perfectly, delivering boxes and making sure you stack them right so nothing breaks. And the game was very fun too, I had a lot of fun making a text file and splitting the roads into 3 neighborhoods, so whenever I saw the address I could look at the file and see which neighborhood it belonged to. Also when there were a lot of fragile boxes I just set them all in the back and went off lol. The art is nice, was simple but charming and I didn't see any problems with it. There were however some problems with seeing where the middle and back boxes were, I couldn't tell if I had a box in a spot on the middle because it was covered by a box in the front. I have some experience working in Love2D(following harvard's course for 3 episodes), and I think you could've made the viewport a bit bigger and maybe show some depth by making the front boxes smaller than the middle, and the middle smaller than the back, that would've solved that problem. The sound effects were good, served their purpose, and I liked the music, very chill and nice, especially when I started a delivery. I feel like the mood could've been set better, maybe with a different kind of music, but it still gave me a nice cheery vibe while I worked on putting boxes in the right place. My main criticism is that it can take a long time, along with the slight confusion with where the boxes are, it also just took some time switching from front, middle, and back. Also think that if you don't set up some way of knowing the addresses and the neighborhood they belong to and instead rely on the map, the game would be even slower. I think some hotkeys would've been nice, maybe 1,2, and 3 for front, middle, back, and then M for the map, P for the package list, and U for the upgrades. And maybe packages could be moved to a spot by double clicking and placing them in the selected section of the truck.
Overall amazing game, with more time and polish I think a game like this could be really popular and fun, I already had a lot of fun playing this game so with more polish and more content and upgrades I would definitely play this game more. Could have more hotkeys and inputs to speed up gameplay and not make you dash around back and forth to click for the map and package list, maybe even making those lists resizable and draggable windows you can put around the game. I also like how it was made with Love2D, I don't know the engine very well but I do want to learn some lua incase I add mod support for future games, so you sharing the source code is very nice of you. Amazing job :)
P.S I want to learn how to make good pixel art so I'm gonna try Pixaki after seeing how nice your art looks o:
@stellarr2 thank you so much for such an in-depth review! It made me happy to read, and I totally agree with your critiques. If you check out my other games on my itch page, almost all of them are made in love2d, and while the code is probably pretty questionable (game jam code!), they're at least examples! Feel free to fork them and play around with them yourself. And if you ever want to talk about game making in love2d or pixel art in pixaki, let me know! If you message me on twitter (@kristinalustig) I'd be happy to chat. Thanks again!
I think this is a really solid game idea, that can actually have potential to be a serious game for learning. I played through a week of the game, and quite enjoyed the vibe.
However, I think the game could improved upon in terms of balancing. First off, I didn't really use the isntructions, and just tried to fill in the truck as spacially efficient as possible. And it turned out well every time! I didn't read the labels, didn't look at the map, it was just a very cozy space management game to me.
I think the map and labels is generally a mechanic, that if it'd work as you planned, might've made the game a bit too long to get into. In this regard I'd say there are two ways to improve it: 1. Get rid of the complex elements, and focus more on space management. That would make it more fun, but also rid it of the more serious aspect. 2. Rebalance the complexities of the labels and map, and make it more engaging. I think if you make it not as tedious, but still involve strategizing it can become a truly unique logistics learning experience.
I really enjoyed the game. Great job!
A good game idea with simple implementation
A great prototype. If you'll continue to work on it, it can become a great big game!
The graphics in this game possess a unique and identifiable style, reflecting the developer's personal touch and creative expression
Really fun concept, and really nice graphics. The UI is top notch, but for the user experience one thing would be greate: only show the current part of the truck we are using (front, middle or back). Currently, it might be a bit messy haha
Overall, a really great entry! Congrats
I liked the graphics and the strategyish touch on this. Good little game in such a small time. Well done!
Cool game, I'm a fan of this genre. I liked that the game has options for development. But one times, when I thought I was a delivery genius, thisissue.png happened..
I love a good sorting game, and graphics are really cute too. It was a little hard to understand the rules at first but even just putting the boxes together was really fun!
I really liked the concept of this game, but it made my head spin. It felt a bit like homework haha. That said, I think with some onboarding and polish it could be a veryfun puzzle game. Great job!
Cool to see another box packing game! The gameplay was fun but I felt like there wasn't any downsides to ignoring the rules, as I was successful by just putting the boxes in however they fitted. Overall a solid game though, nice work!
