fun idea. Getting stuck against the walls is really brutal here.
Cool game, really great for a first game jam. I like the concept, running up and down to deliver stuff to merchants and probably braving through obstacles and monsters along the way sounds fun. I think you could've added some way to know where each merchant was, maybe a little minimap. I also think it would've been better to have an easier way of getting back up to the packages. The wall climbing was really more of a problem and that might be part of the game, but it made parkour pretty frustrating. I always had to step away from a wall before I jumped. The sounds were alright, simple and satisfying, the art was also nice, there could've been more in the environment but this is a 3 day jam so it's alright.
Enjoyed it! My only criticism is that it's a bit difficult to jump through tight gaps since you can't jump while touching a wall
compared to other jam games, this one is pretty unique. however, I felt like the "wall sliding(?)" screwed me up more than helping me because I'd end up getting stuck on walls especially trying to get back up to the top.
I don't know if the wall jump is intentional but it felt very clunky to use.
maybe the money could have been used for upgrades or something like that.
overall it's pretty unique but the execution is not the best.
I really liked that you could throw packages down to merchant A! :D Getting around was a bit tedious, since I'd always get stuck on the steps when trying to climb stairs, felt like the collisions did not work as they were supposed to. The monsters had just the right speed to feel threatening, but manageable. The time constraint was a good choice, just long enough to have some complexity, but short enough to play a few rounds. Overall, nice first entry, you two! :)
Really cool game for a first game jam ! Impressive Some commentaries : The concept is simple yet really cool, but the navigation in the level is quite difficult, and I ended several times in the bottom of the level, unable to go up. Maybe lowering just a little bit the plateform would greatly increase the experience ! And because I'm not really agile and I spent my time throwing the packages down without knowing the recipient, it became really difficult
Pretty solid entry for a first jam! Cute graphics, I have a soft spot for anything pixel art :)
Some feedback: - I noticed I'd get stuck on the walls and be unable to jump back up most of the time after going down a single time. - If I landed on a monster's head, sometimes the package was still destroyed even though it didn't touch the monster. Not sure if this was intentional or a bug. - There was no music until I got to the game over screen and pressed the "menu" button, THEN there was music for the second round. - Maybe an indicator showing where to take the package you're currently carrying would be a nice touch, as I often forgot where some of the merchants were.
Still, as some of the others said, the difficulty (other than getting stuck on things) felt pretty balanced. The enemies weren't too fast, but they weren't so slow you could just ignore them completely. The sound was also decent in my opinion (my Jam entry didn't even get sound at all due to running out of time lol) Great work and I look forward to seeing more entries from the two of you in future Ludum Dares!
Interesting concept. The walls being very high friction was strange. I actually used it to my advantage a bit to climb up the left side of the map by jumping, sticking, jumping away from the wall then back toward it and sticking higher up. You can definitely just drop the A packages off the left side as well straight to the merchant.
Strange friction, packages going flying (catching a corner while you fall), high contrast noisy textures for the background, and lack of content prevents this one from really shining. The idea is there though.
congrats on your first game jam! the character controls were standard and intuitive. I guess the previous comments mentioned it but it was weird to have high friction on the walls. The movement speed, for both the character and the enemies, could be lowered too. Overall great work!
It is nice and pretty hard game. I managed to deliver just one package (at least one!). I like colors (combination) and textures. I enjoyed playing it. Good job! :-)
