It's so hard to judge turns XD good game though I could actually see myself spending time playing something like this on a phone.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD53 → Crystal Courier

I like the gameplay setup, only thing I would add is either a more defined background, or a directional arrow back to base to better know where you are on the map. Also I'd probably drop the turning radius a little lower when using arrow keys, though I think this would be fine with an analog stick.
@jclardy Thanks :) There is a small arrow, but maybe it should have been bigger.

really good game... had fun playing it...hats of to you for using a custom engine written from scratch
It is a cool game, I even see some room for improvement, with new features, like fuel management or even other plants to process the crystals. Still had fun playing it.
The driving controller is feels really natural! I was a bit confused what the range upgrade did, because I assumed it was pick-up range but that wasn't the case from what I could tell when I got the upgrade. Regardless, the controls were nice, the objective was clear, there was room to learn and improve as a player: A really fun experience!
That was fun. I really liked the audio in this one. The graphics did their job, and everything was clear and understandable. I especially liked the cute little rocket. The truck is hard to control, and I found myself coming to a full stop before pointing myself in the right direction to set off again. I did play to victory, but alas I didn't do it in time.
Good stuff :8ball:
Fun game, I've seen these kinda games where you have to collect stuff and then bring it back to a place to either buy upgrades or use it to accomplish a final goal, though I haven't played one where you're a car delivering stuff back and forth. The art style is simple but it works well and fits the game. The theme fits the game perfectly, delivering crystals back and forth, all to deliver yourself out of the planet lol. And the mood, even though it was simple it felt right, just you and a bunch of crystals you need to deliver to get off a planet or else you'd die, no music needed. It was pretty fun, I had some trouble controlling the car but that added to the suspense and challenge when I barely missed a crystal because I only bought 1 pickup range upgrade, or I missed the base by a hair and didn't unload as fast as I would've liked. The audio was decent, I liked the sound of the rover, I only had some problems with the weird beeping that happened every minute or so. I would've set up a timer that was formatted like an actual timer so I'd understand how many minutes I have, and then make it flash when a minute or so passes. Speaking of minutes, I think you could've taken off a minute or half a minute. I was able to finish the game just buying 1 pickup range upgrade so I didn't go crazy, 1 acceleration upgrade, and 1 capacity upgrade. It was a little too easy and I never felt like I didn't have enough time. Maybe lowering the initial capacity to 2 or even 1 would've also made the game more suspenseful and make you rush and inevitably fumble and miss catching lots of crystals easily.
Nice game. Quite fun. You really have to try a lot of different combinations to see which works best for collecting as much as you can in the time you have. Great visuals and sound. The indicator showing me my base direction was a bit small but I finally noticed it and it helped when collecting at the edge of the map. Controls were easy and they worked. So many times I over shot the base even holding space, still great though. Good game.
@glove Thanks :) The range upgrade is indeed for increasing the crystal pickup distance. The stat is correctly named Pickup Range at the top left, but for some reason I only named it Range in the shop lol :D
@stellarr2 Thanks for the novel-length feedback :) The weird beeping you mentioned is probably the backwards driving indicator like trucks beep when they drive backwards. You probably only used "backwards" to slow down and the vehicle only was in backwards driving for a split second, triggering only a single beep. Ah, I was afraid there is some cheese strategy like not buying or only buying very few upgrades to win. Balancing is always the hardest challenge for me.
Hey I like the concept. I kept restarting by accidently pressing r instead of e. I am not sure whether the amount of time till impact incentivizes the need for upgrading. I find I want to be really choosy as to which ones I choose an in which order to make it easier. Not sure speed, accel, make it any easier and I wasn't sure how range played into things and if I even need to care. I will keep playing to see if they work themselves into play if I get good enough to escape.
Had a lot of fun playing around with the upgrades seeing what worked. Was too chill at the start took me ages to realise there was an asteroid but maybe that's my poor reading compregension. Made it off eventually. In the end it was no upgrades just collected and escaped.
Graphics and sound were good - really liked the way the car controlled.
Good game, I like the trail left by the mining cart on the ground, it makes me feel very immersed.
Cool idea ! I liked the ease of driving, but it's quite unforgiving, you can miss the crystal when you're quite close sometimes. I also think that going backward and trying to turn should have it's directions reversed, which is more natural and would match the usual way this kind of games work. Other than that, nice entry. GG.
You have no idea how much I love the driving mechanics after playing way too many _awful_ driving games here :D Really nice feel and the upgrades were fun. Didn't finish on the first try and then I had to clear the browser cache so I could reset the crystal count. Lots of fun!
@m2tias thanks, glad you like the driving mechanics :) Looks like you found a bug, the crystal number resets when restarting, but I forgot to update the UI... when you collect some crystals in the second game and drop them off, the number is correct again.
I enjoyed this one :) Maxed my car out during endless mode. Funny how you didn't need to stop to unload (I just mashed E while driving over the base thing) and also if you keep the menu open you can just buy stuff wherever you are to save time. But you can't see very well but you don't really need to :D The sound when collecting sometimes didn't play when collecting many at once which threw me off a couple of times. Nice entry good job!
