Really liked the idea summoning JEEVES! Really did not expect to see that!

Something to ponder on; I think the point and click approach is neat. The phasing and tempo could be improved in following ways 0. Make the text visibility faster, like, a lot faster 1. SPACE does not skip the line, but rather makes the text fully visible 2. I had issues going through the doorways because I was missing the colliders, can you check those and maybe have a little visual cue there?

Really liked the theme and hope you good time jamming! - Sami

Thank you for the feedback @zamizmi! I did notice the text was going slower in the build than it was in the editor, I imagine it is because text is being loaded in a coroutine. I do agree SPACE fully skipping the dialogue is inconvenient and I hope to revisit this dialogue system in the future so that is something I will consider.

I really liked this game. the idea is just great, it was very interesting. but I think it would be great to make different music in different rooms, to add atmosphere to each room. Great!

Intriguing story. I couldn't successfully complete the game, but it was still interesting. It's worth to note: I couldn't immediately go through the doors on the right and left, typing speed is too low, layer of player character is always on top.

This is a fun idea! Great job :)

I allways loved mistery games, my wife and I used to play them quite a lot.

About the execution, nice introduction, nice font choice, good music, incredible pixel art (I wish I could draw like that...) IDK incredible entry team!

Keep the good work you rock!

(About the SPACE key I agree with the first review BUT WOW, that's nothing you did a fantastic job)

Cool narrative and nice art. Good job:)

Nice enjoyable puzzle game. One thing I would like is for the text to be moving faster since I don't want to skip over it. I'm impatient, and there was one bug trying to talk to Mr Tera dactyl. But nice game overall!

axodo 2024-04-16 13:47

I enjoyed the game, although as others pointed out, using space to display the text instead of skipping it would be a very nice touch. The game also crashes if you talk twice to Mr. Dactyl. Besides that it was nice, the game has a good atmosphere

Very fun! Shocked you were able to create so much pleasing pixel art in such a short time! Same advice as others regarding dialogue and doorways, and I was unable to solve the mystery even after a few tries, but I had fun! Thanks for the entry!

I like this game! You guys are great!

mrwarranty 2024-04-16 23:35

Great job, guys. I want to spend more time in the Jeeves-verse! Why is he a ghost butler? Does he have to spend more time solving crimes before his spirit can move on? Is this some kind of unholy pact that Mr. Dactyl has? Is that why the game breaks when you try to talk to him more than once? Are he and Valorie going to move past the affair? Will Terra receive her comeuppance for being so conniving? I'm thinking we need a sequel.

This was such a refreshing entry! The idea is great and the art looks wonderful. Others already mentioned the minor issues with the game but it's a great game nonetheless, and truly impressive result in 48 hours. Good job to the team!

Nice story, loved the music! Unfortunately, I expected space to make the text faster and so I missed out on some dialogs because I accidentally skipped it.

the4thcircle 2024-04-17 10:57

the text was just too slow and the music was too repetitive. If the text doesn't timeout, there's no reason to have it appear slowly, just let people read at their own speed.

prcastro 2024-04-17 19:52

Very good idea, its fairly well written for a LD entry and the graphics are good. However, I have some pieces of feedback:

* Don't mix pixel art and non-pixel art fonts, its a bit jarring * The text is slow, speed it up a bit * When hitting space in the middle of the text being written, it shouldn't skip the text, instead make it complete on screen * Don't mix mouse interactions and keyboard keys like I for interaction. This makes the player let go of the mouse and use the right hand to find the key. Instead, interact with E. Better still, implement the whole system only with the mouse (walking and interacting)

Other than that, you should be proud! Adventure games are complex and you did a good job!

brandon-mcdonald 2024-04-18 11:33

Thank you @prcastro. Had never considered the mouse interactions since most of us used Laptops with touchpads, definitely something we will consider in the future.

Reminds me of the old Sierra Online games. Brings back a lot of great memories. Thanks for the great game.

I really love pixel games!!!

deerofblue 2024-04-19 22:01

Cool game. I love the art and nice sound design. The story is really refreshing and cute, I like it. I will be better if there is a feature of accelerating the text space or skip text it will be better!

mikropiru 2024-04-28 16:21

Really interesting and cool entry! I loved the implementation, except for the issues other have listed above. After I had interrogated everyone else a couple of times, and again "froze" the game by talking again to Mr. Dactyl, I didn't feel like starting over properly so I just skipped to accusing everyone — and of course it didn't work without going through the interrogations... (Which I think is a good choice obviously but a bit annoying after a crash.)

Anyway, all in all, a great entry! Amazing job!
