LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Abyssus in Anima by Tygrak 2021-04-27T15:16:53Z

Really liked the ambient music and artwork! But something to keep in mind for jams like this is player attention span. You lost me after giving me two dead end paths right at the beginning with such slow character speed :(

Manic Miner by ryannielson 2021-04-26T20:51:13Z

I could imagine playing something like this on my TI-83 in 8th grade algebra class. Really fun. I love the way the rocks make a little scream sound when you hit them first time. Pretty fun when you really try to go as fast as humanly possible. Solid game!!

Puzzle Cove by MaggardJosh 2021-04-28T18:09:27Z

Nice take on the classic icy floor puzzle! I like the addition of special mechanics as you go deeper. Really solid gameplay and puzzle design!

Fallen Shovel by silkworm_sweatshop 2021-04-26T23:02:50Z

This game is so good I lost track of time and burnt the rice I was cooking for dinner in the other room.......

LOVE the soundtrack, mechanics, art, and concept. You win the award for first game that I actually downloaded (I tend to really only play the ones that are HTML5 hosted) The gameplay GIF really captured my interest and it was so worth it!

Extremely polished and refined game. So impressive for 48h. 5/5

Meditation Journey by schwede 2021-04-27T15:28:45Z

Deeper and Deeper into meditation was one of the ideas I played around with for this jam too! I really loved the atmosphere and calm you pulled off.

I would have liked there to be a better indication of the breath durations, as opacity is really hard to tell a difference between 80% and 100% so sometimes I let go too early and had a harder time syncing my breath (imagine an inner and outer ring indicator like wii fit trainer)

download.jpg

Jupiter II by Wheffle 2021-04-27T16:32:40Z

Really nice atmosphere, artwork, and music! I really enjoyed the turning animation and the aesthetic of aliased graphics -- like how you could see pixel jittering the green scanner line and the particles

Transcendental by pdotjpg 2021-04-27T16:03:39Z

Would have loved a bit more visuals and movement in the background/character to create a meditative trance experience!

I love the concept of keeping bad thoughts away.

Stabalot by bw_devel 2021-04-26T12:54:03Z

Things I liked:

-Innovative and creative mechanics with the sword/heart/card system

-Nice pixel graphics

-Good music although the loop was a bit short

Improvements:

-I think the sword/heart/card mechanic could really stand on its own! The innovation and creativity with that system kind of trivialized the fighting mechanics since there was not much you could do except press X

Deep Miners by dimaswift 2021-04-26T23:20:03Z

Really sick demo! I appreciate the polish you put on the design, visuals, and structure instead of trying to make extra game systems. it turned out great

Clear Your Head by Styps 2021-04-27T00:13:32Z

I fell through the bottom ground in my playthrough and started falling forever.. Maybe some holes in the collision detection

Really nice graphics and mood! The music is relaxing and fits the game well. I like the concept behind going deeper into dreams but I didn't really get that feeling from playing it.

Just Dig by TwoWolf 2021-04-27T15:06:44Z

Great graphics and music! I would have loved to be a little faster, as I got QUICKLY cut off by the camera. Sometimes the input would lag and it would play the dig animation when I needed to be moving.

Beaver Submarine by cagibi 2021-04-26T12:34:31Z

Very tricky to control, but I really enjoyed watching the submarine at work and admiring the game systems you accomplished in 48h. Music is so relaxing and the graphics are perfect. I had to quit out because I didn't know what I was doing or how to win, but I truly enjoyed the experience!

Hellivator by Billnotic 2021-04-26T23:27:25Z

Got stuck in the first level as well. The jumping gravity is just a bit too much and I had trouble getting over some jumps.Screenshot_54.png

Where is Bob by ubershmekel 2021-04-27T15:03:59Z

I'll always click a cartoon poop-themed game. That was hilarious

memories.io - A Living Painting by NamidaSai 2021-04-26T20:34:58Z

I kind of wanted this to be an open-ended sandbox experience! Having a score and gameover screen very quickly interrupt this poetic concept felt out of place to me. Like an art piece at a museum or gallery, you should be allowed to experience it at your own pace. I think you were 100% safe to lean into making "art" instead of a "game" here :) Very nice work!!

R.E.M. - Vocab Nightmare by Smooches 2021-04-26T12:23:29Z

Really nice mood to this game! I am a huge fan of word games and I don't think I've played any with a "cannot contain" rule like this! It was really challenging and fun!

Sleep Walls by drom1x 2021-04-26T21:00:11Z

Really cool concept, art, music, overall vibe!! But like a lot of other feedback, the gameplay felt a bit light and I just ended up going one direction for a while. Still, super cool vibes and also you get points for going in a creative direction with the prompt.

Canyoneer by Kieron Woodhouse 2021-04-26T13:02:12Z

Things I liked:

* humor in the tutorial * great rope physics!!! * challenging * THE BLOOD SPLATTER!!!

Things I would have liked

* some ability to walk a little bit to set up where I want to throw a rope * ability to grab back onto the rope if I accidentally pressed spacebar too soon :(

DUNGEON SMASHER by goodwincek 2021-04-26T12:44:44Z

@smooches Thanks for playing! I'd definitely like to expand this to something fully developed!

@hilkojj Haha that's the unfortunate limit of the game on the web player.

@lakea I had some aspirations for that for the jam, but as time was running out I made the choice to just focus on making sure the mechanics were satisfying. Thank you for the feedback!

@kieron-woodhouse No failure at this point, but hopefully 30-60s of satisfying brick destruction to relieve the stress from the last 48 hrs ;). Thanks for pointing out the glitches you experienced though! I need to refine the collision detection some more next

@lesaintbiscuit Haha glad that it enhanced it for you! That is an export limitation with Godot when you play on the webplayer. The new release added threaded audio support, but at the cost of not working in a lot of browsers. But hopefully it will be fixed in the future!

@bw-devel Thanks for playing and for the detailed feedback! I would definitely like to expand this and I love your idea! There could be coin bricks that you have to steer your path towards to pick up, then maybe fly back to surface to upgrade your digging strength. And hmm, I will definitely need to look into that glitch.. That definitely shouldn't happen!

DUNGEON SMASHER by goodwincek 2021-04-27T19:14:33Z

@audiobusting @dimaswift @wheffle

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you had some fun with it!

@ariorick Hahah, awesome. I am totally saving your quote to put on the back of the box lol.

>"feels like punching the fabric of the universe. Awesome" ~ariorick

@cagibi @holyblackcat @rouge-dragon @jeremia @ryannielson @silkworm-sweatshop @felixmreeve

Thanks for the feedback, and I hope to definitely expand into a full game one day! I'll keep all your suggestions in mind when I expand the concept and also rework the code.

@astronautmikedexter

Sorry that you had some technical issues! I noticed there were a few bugs I did not catch, and a few issues with exporting to web from Godot that I am still learning to deal with as I learn more about Godot and HTML5. Hopefully my future games or updates can avoid some of these issues. Thanks for playing and for leaving some feedback! :)

Botanica by FDK 2021-04-26T21:05:13Z

Funny that you omitted "Humor" from the ratings with the way your character dies in this game from a tiny snake!

Deep into the vibe by Ariorick 2021-04-26T20:39:24Z

Sick visuals and music! (I sympathize with the unfortunate Godot web export audio stuttering though..)

Deep into the vibe by Ariorick 2021-04-26T21:14:13Z

@ariorick Yeah, I also tried the latency settings in my exports, but never got it to sound good on the web either. The underlying issue is that Godot audio is processed through the same thread as the rest of the game and can be affected by performance.

Fortunately they are addressing this! In [Godot 3.3](https://godotengine.org/article/godot-3-3-has-arrived#html5) they are supporting multi-threads! I've done test exports and it sounds great!! BUT....

....I would not recommended yet for web export because it can cause all sorts of browser issues with permissions/settings that need to be addressed on the server side (hosts like itchio/etc):

LD55 — Summoning

SUMMONING by xk_the_name 2024-04-17T13:48:39Z

Loved the intro animation! This game really feels complete, which is incredibly impressive for a compo game. Love all of the extra polish: the intro animation, the dialogue, all the upgrades, and even the bonus mini-sigils... the sheer variety of upgrades!! And most importantly, the basic attack spell with the homing missile dagger is badass and really satisfying to get combos with. Absolutely amazing work!! Perfection.

Mathemagician by bentglasstube 2024-04-16T11:39:40Z

Had a great playthrough and it definitely left me wanting more! All the planned ideas you had sound really cool. Impressive that you built this in your own engine! Love the art and design. The thumbnail illustration is also really nice. Great work!

The music was also nice, That autotracker tool is really cool! Thanks for sharing that

Demon bowel trouble by el-pepi 2024-04-15T22:59:38Z

Lmao that was hilarious! Love the different references you had here. Would be soooo good with some funny voice acting and sounds added in. Seto kaiba's run cycle was my favorite part.

Nexus by denvil 2024-04-17T11:49:23Z

Interesting concept! This would be perfect as a side-mission part of a larger game, maybe some sort of 3D platformer with the cat character. It's always fun to have your NPCs working for you while playing a bigger game (V Rising comes to mind for this kind of system!)

I like the art and nice chill background music which created a nice vibe. I think if I were to make immediate suggestions, it would be to create some player boundaries so you can't go flying off the edge of the map. At first I thought maybe my player was supposed to go into the pipes, or go through the mission doorway while holding the capsules (oops! I fell down to the planet like 3-4 times before I learned my lesson lol).

It was cool seeing the planet below, and I liked the animation of the hammer sending the hero capsule down. The cat has a cute design, and I like all the color choices. Nice work getting a 3D game completed for the compo!

Devotion - A fairytale by daandruff 2024-04-15T16:22:30Z

Incredible art and aesthetics! The audio creates a perfect atmosphere. Despite being so simple, there was a lot of me just clicking around randomly, not exactly knowing what was interactable or not sometimes. The maze puzzle 1, 2, 3, 4 was the only one I felt like I could use context clues to discover! That was cool I wish there was more like that! The art really kept me engaged to keep playing this point-and-click puzzle game. I wanted to see all the beautiful item graphics!! Amazing work!

The Ritual by silkworm_sweatshop 2024-04-16T20:12:01Z

I really love the concept! I think having to close the book and start back at page 1 was kind of a hinderance to me, though. I actually ended up opening a 2nd instance of the game just so I could keep looking at the recipe book! I would have loved to just have the book open at all times for this game where it encourages experimentation.

Super polished visually and the music is SO GOOD. I was really jamming out to it. Love how the screen shakes and the grab sound effect is really satisfying. The dark portal effect too. I had a good time but the memorization of the incantations was the hurdle for me each time I wanted to try something. This is as far as I got:

Screenshot_37.png

Really nice polish all around! I had fun even though I got stuck :) Inspiring work!

Summon Death by TheMadPangolin 2024-04-16T12:33:06Z

Amazing game!! Mad impressive for a compo. The level of polish and juice is just so awesome. Really love the animation and all the little details like flash frames, debris, camera shake, and slow mo death... So many interesting balance tradeoffs as well like having slower movement while shooting. A lot of game jam games feel short and sweet, but this one really hooks you in and makes you wanna keep trying over and over. GREAT WORK!!!

Mana Delve by Alex Mulkerrin 2024-04-16T20:29:23Z

Agreed with the other comments on the difficulty to catch your gauges before running out of mana. In my case, I ran out of red mana and was disappointed I could not recover. The UI and interactions in the game are nice and polished. I like the bright colorful graphics. Everything was snappy and responsive, so no issues there. I had fun digging and uncovering the map too!

Delvecologist by Wheffle 2024-04-15T13:05:22Z

Hey fellow LD48-er! I remember your Jupiter II game, and LD 48 was my previous LD as well.

This game is really challenging, but awesome! Took me a lot of tries to just beat level 1 haha. But I started to get the hang of it after a while. Love the music - definitely kept me engaged to keep trying despite many early failures.

That lasted till about level 4 then it kind of got overwhelming having to keep so many different movement/attack patterns in my head, so I had a hard time making predictive strategic moves. I kind of just made random decisions trial and error to search for the solutions.

Definitely an ambitious concept! There are some tricky design challenges to convey so much information and I really think it needs an "Into the Breach" level of detail to what is shown. Being able to see predictive highlighted tiles or visual previews of where units would be moving would have helped a ton. But that would be wayyy out of scope. What you accomplished for 48 hrs is crazy good!!

Love all of the different animal designs and visuals! They have a lot of charm. I also really appreciated the free choice to try any level in the game. I had a lot of fun! Great work

The Klent by sirJupitron 2024-04-16T00:55:49Z

Gave me really old school MS-DOS game vibes from back in the day. It was fun exploring the little world you built here. I liked the detail of how the music changes whenever you die, which was refreshing to respawn and try again when I was on a difficult platforming section.

There was a really interesting pattern of exchanging your staff and mounting/dismounting to get past each obstacles which added a nice light puzzle element to it. The only factor I didn't enjoy was the dino summon disappearing after a short time. Dismounting = "Okay, I've gotta go on foot for bit... this will be slower and more calculated with my jumps." Ran out of time and disappeared = "Dangit... now I gotta walk back to re-summon just to get back to this screen again... this is gonna take foreverrrr!"

But it did create a sense of urgency to keep going forward and beat the game! I had a great time playing. I really enjoyed the character designs, especially the tall green guy. Loved this game! Good job

Screenshot_28.png

Unfamiliar by Untitled Studios 2024-04-16T01:53:02Z

Screenshot_33.png

Yay! This was a lot of fun!! Definitely has the engagement factor going on like Slay the Spire. Just one more run...

It was really cool exploring the different creature builds. I had a REALLY good team going in my winning run, starting with Yetis who could boost HP and strength every round. I felt unstoppable... until...

Screenshot_32.png

I went ALL-IN on making a "fabled" creature which ended up being cursed... I used ALL my resources to summon him and couldn't really recover from that - it was all downhill from here.

In my entire playthrough I didn't fully understand how the sigils affected the outcome. I was starting to get an intuitive feeling that plants = health regain, teeth = attack, bone = ???, ??? = strength gain, ??? = strength loss? It got a bit confusing and I would have loved a spellbook to explicitly tell me the properties of each ingredient so I could know for certain what I was going for in my recipe.

I had a REALLY great time playing though and getting to level 16 felt very satisfying. The battling had a really nice rhythm to it. Love the music, the graphics and making the sigils was really nice and responsive. The pace was perfect throughout going between the different game screens. The creature illustrations were also really nice! Maybe could have used a slightly less jagged edges and higher fidelity because it had a more hand drawn look than pixel-art. But it was still really nice. Amazing work!!

Arise, QWERT! by niterich 2024-04-15T11:59:32Z

I love this concept! There's so much potential in this and really adds a level of creativity to the "name your new friend" idea like in Pokemon, except here it's demonic and a high intensity survival game! Love the art and designs of all the demons.

Based on what you have so far, it's in the early stages and I felt like the demon summoning happened too often, interrupting the flow of battle and also not really getting a chance to get a good feel for the new spell I just got (felt like only about 20 seconds or so to experience it before I had to summon a new demon).

Could you keep adding the spells on top of each other like in Vampire Survivors where you add new weapons and upgrade them?

I think it would have been really cool if you actually summoned them by your side, and have them follow you around in battle, like familiars in Brain lord. ref | youtube.com/watch?v=kfI6VxdRE5A | I could see in an extended playthrough you might get attached to ZZZZZ and ASDFF so you really wanna keep playing and not let them get hurt.

Very cool game! Very excited to see where this could expand!

Necrogeddon by Wargon 2024-04-17T22:54:49Z

That was awesome!! You are certainly the master of massive waves of enemies. Performance was great even with so many things on screen!

A few little things that felt a bit unrefined like when the necromancer summoned skeletons, the animation occasionally felt unresponsive and limiting that it stopped your movement. Later in the game there were so many monsters that I pretty much had to sprint nonstop... and if I did stop to summon, I'd get swarmed!

Really fun for the first 5 min or so when I had my own massive army. It was really cool how you can choose how to build you army and upgrade them so much! I did a couple different runs to experiment with different upgrade paths. Super cool game really satisfying to watch the zombies and skeletons fight each other.

Demon Keys by JulienLussiez 2024-04-15T23:26:20Z

This was great! Good job on getting back on track and finishing a game after a few false starts — I definitely relate to that from other jams. Recovering and backtracking from wrong directions is a skill in and of itself tbh, so you leveled up in that department for sure.

Love the funny demon illustrations and a solid, simple well executed concept. For what it is, it's very nicely polished and complete! I love the wiggle effect you added. Only thing I wish is that it kept my score on screen after the game ended so I could share a screenshot. The sounds were nice, funny, and the music had a nice beat that almost made me wish this was a rhythm game.

Great work I had fun playing for a minute. :)

Summonion by KeithSwanger 2024-04-17T17:10:06Z

Found this via the news feed post! Awesome entry that I hope more people see! One of the most enjoyable games I've played here. The characters are so cute and the pacing is just PERFECT. Super approachable and intuitive to play. What a great entry, awesome job!

Capture the King by ZEN 2024-04-16T20:51:25Z

Pretty cool concept! A few times I'm pretty sure I had checkmate but my pieces didn't do what I expected haha. The AI made some funny moves sometimes. It was fun watching the game play out though! Love the fire effects around the pieces! nice work :)

Summongrel by James_7777 2024-04-15T22:51:47Z

Absolutely love the sound design! The character responses are so funny and I couldn't help but mimic the wizard every time.

The levels were also really fun! Easy to figure out the solution, but tricky to execute after the first few levels! I had a lot of fun playing! Amazing work

Only critique i have from my experience was the music loop getting a little repetitive when I started getting frustrated with level 7! I generally prefer arrow keys for non-FPS game movement so I had a bit of trouble with the controls when it needed a lot of dexterity to do everything left handed. Shadows on the clouds would have also been helpful for judging my position with the chained Bounce blocks too.

But amazing work for 48 hr! The graphics were spot on - I'm a big fan of pixelated 3D and you really nailed that style!

The Ordnancer by ForceElementZ 2024-04-19T12:10:03Z

Sick game! The pixel art and explosion effects were amazing. Really cool weapon variety and fighting mechanics. Only thing that felt out of place was that we're fighting on a bright grassy field blooming with colorful flowers. Didn't really match the vibe of the digital violence and dark music. Music track was really great! Everything else was super cohesive with it — from the enemy attacks to the sick death animations. Love it. Great work!

HEXX by andrewkennedy 2024-04-15T11:37:19Z

Really great! Very easy to grasp, nice simple tutorial, great visuals and love the satisfying effect when you get a big move that captures 4-5 enemy hexes. The AI was pretty strong in the early game and I was outnumbered 10:1 at one point! Had to stage an epic comeback, which had plenty of those multi-captures!

Wonder how you might be able to innovate this concept further to differentiate from the DOS game. Visually and aesthetically you've made a massive improvement over the original, but I could envision interesting directions you could take it even further! What if there were some special pieces with different properties like a chess board?

I had a lot of fun in my playthrough! Excellent work!

Ecaroh's Mecharoh by goodwincek 2024-04-16T10:50:58Z

@nathmate thanks for that feedback on the difficulty curve! I'm going to be expanding this for the concurrent Godot Wild Jam going this week, so I'll try to iron out some of those issues! Thanks for playing!

@james-7777 Thank you! I also have some ideas for how to make the chaos a little more controlled with some kind of 'lightning rod' to gravitate the electrons towards a point.

@el-pepi Woo! Grats on your win. Thank you for playing!

@andrewkennedy Thanks for giving my game a try, and thank you for that feedback on the tutorial skip! That's a great idea I'll definitely implement.

@wheffle Haha good catch on the AI, that's exactly what is happening! Thanks for pointing that out — gives me the nudge to retune the AI a bit to be slightly less predictable. Also love the orbiting idea I'll definitely try to include that one in my next update! thanks for playing

@niterich Thank you for that feedback! I'll definitely keep that in mind with how to convey that better to players. I see a lot of people missed that aspect too, so you aren't alone. That's really valuable for me to know so thanks for leaving a review!

@drgcandle Thank you for such a kind review! I'll be working on an update for the aforementioned Godot Wild Jam this week, so stay tuned! Really glad you enjoyed my art style. I've gotten pretty fast at pixel art and have years of sketchbooks I turn to for reference when I am looking for inspiration to create new assets. Making this as a solo dev just took a lot of time. I didn't sleep much over the weekend and put probably 30 hours of work into it over the two days! Also shout out to my brother who helped playtest and give me some great feedback before the last push to deadline. Now my favorite part: getting some rest and playing some of the other jam games! Thanks for playing and glad you're hyped!!

@digitaliliad @owtuvammo @brucezoom Thank you all for playing. Glad you had some fun :)

Ecaroh's Mecharoh by goodwincek 2024-04-24T12:50:54Z

@alex-mulkerrin Thanks so much! The lighting effects were really fun to do. This was my first game where I took the time to implement a real tutorial so happy to hear it helped!

@ilari Thank you for playing :) Glad you enjoyed the visuals, and noted on the difficulty curve. It was valuable feedback that I took into the [expanded v2 of the game for Godot Wild Jam](https://ecaroh.itch.io/ecarohs-mecharoh-2)

@sirjupitron Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for playing :)

@hot-noggin-studios Thank you! And agreed, I think that the electron ammo limit was probably a mistake in my design in this version. I also had that frustration a few times while testing!

@dywanix Thank you for playing! Appreciate the feedback.

@domenixius Thank you for the detailed feedback of your experience! I think I do need a little more tuning to the electron system. It's tough to find the exact right balance between control and chaos, because like you said the electron chain reactions is definitely the most fun part, which is partially due to the chaotic system. Thanks again and glad you had some fun with it :)

@zen Really appreciate it! Thanks for playing!

@gaverion Good call! I heard that feedback from a few others as well. I ran out of time for the healthbars but I definitely could have implemented a basic text display in the corner for your HP. I'll definitely keep that in mind for the future — provide all the information the player might need, even if it's not fully polished! Good lesson there thank you :)

@denvil Awesome! Glad you had enough fun to try a couple runs. That was the exact length of time I hoped people would enjoy with this little game. Thanks for playing!

@josang1567 This version of the game is definitely a bit messy with how I designed it. The summons can be placed near the three "power crystals" which send energy back to the central tower, which recharges the electron ammo. This whole system was reworked when I made the [updated version](https://ecaroh.itch.io/ecarohs-mecharoh-2)

@linky439 Thanks for the great feedback! It was really helpful in my revisions and improving the controls and also reworking the enemy summon pattern to be less frustrating (and exploitable haha). Sounds like you mastered the game! Thanks so much for playing and glad you enjoyed :) (PS there was no health display, regrettably, but I did add a health display in the new update game!)

@silkworm-sweatshop Thanks so much for checking out my game! Yeah you have to keep moving around the map which is not always super obvious to players. I added a stage boundary in my updated game which I think helps players naturally discover the 3 crystals. Your feedback was greatly appreciated and helped a lot with tweaking the design! Thanks again :)

@maxthedoom Thank you!! Really makes me happy to hear you enjoyed it so much! 100% agreed on health indicator, and you're right about the tower 'health bar'. Had a lot of fun doing the sound design and ambient sounds so glad you loved the atmosphere :)

@kirass @roman-dubrovin @cogcomp @ruslana Thank you for playing :)

Phasebound by Kepsert 2024-04-15T18:56:42Z

Love the writing, the art was incredible, and the design was quite unique and innovative! I had a great time playing. It really makes you think outside the box!

Symthesis by ollie_d 2024-04-15T17:52:50Z

WHAT A GAME! Took me forever to figure out level 7 but was immensely satisfying to crack the code. Then I was in it to win it, and had a fantastic time solving the puzzles!! You did an amazing job on the balance and difficulty level of figuring out the combos, and there was a surprising amount of nuance to how you sequence the cards. I played this a good 20-30 minutes and the music never got old, so great job on the sound design as well. Very simple graphics but didn't leave anything to be desired. Maybe some color codes or slightly more distinct card graphics would have helped memorization quicker, but I really liked the aesthetic overall. Super fun!

Screenshot_26.png

Siela by Gnum_ 2024-04-17T11:40:14Z

Really great atmosphere and art design! Brought me back to the days of questing in World of Warcraft haha. The win screen illustration was really cool!

It would have been cool if the lantern was magically floating with a glowing effect like the summoned bridge — since the lantern wasn't attached to the character it was distracting seeing her hand clip through it.

Summoner Under Attack by Ilari 2024-04-16T21:19:54Z

Okay.... that was AWESOME!!! At first I was a little worried that I had to wait so long for my summon spell to unlock... BUT OMG that was worth the wait! I was expecting to summon just a little rock dude, but you gave us a gigantic colossal golem!! Super epic, and a joy to watch him smash those little bad guys. Incredibly satisfying and love all of the effects and debris. I had a great time playing!! Love the pixelated graphics and the way it looks when the camera turns. Amazing work!

Genomancer by Ravernt 2024-04-16T02:26:36Z

Really fun auto-battler! I really liked the concept and having so much customization in your team comp. I played several runs and the furthest I could get was level 8. In all of my attempts, it felt like I hit a brick wall at a certain point, which made it feel like I just had to get lucky RNG in order to progress.

Had a ton of fun in my playthrough, love the aesthetic and sound design. I really like the color choices and high contrast design. Everything felt really satisfying and polished. Excellent work!

Molag Brawl by aznoqmous 2024-04-16T12:04:28Z

That was awesome! I really like the concept behind the glyph summoning/upgrades for this kind of survival rougelite genre. It was really intense to stay inside the small area and defend from the monsters! Super cool idea.

I didn't really get a great sense of my upgrades taking effect tho, and it was quite an investment to complete a ritual so I wanted to feel a bit more of a power surge, especially in the context of a short game jam play session. It felt like a struggle to get the first ritual completed in the game, and seemed like the monsters just kept multiplying so fast that I could barely keep up! I wanted to be able to turn the tides after 1-2 rituals and feel overpowered!

But it was still really fun and engaging, the sound/music design was really immersive, the graphics very clean and readable. I love the starfield in the background, it really makes you feel like you're in some otherworldly dimension. Very cool game, I had a great time! Excellent work!

6 Kadabra Resurgam Ocus by nathmate 2024-04-15T11:08:13Z

Really interesting and unique idea! But kinda hard for me to remember all the inputs for different elements and combinations. I needed a lot more hand-holding like in the tutorial. Maybe some color codes and re-using the symbol shapes in the spell book would help me memorize which element is which. I had a lot of trouble getting rotation to work as well. Couldn't get the Fire-Triangle to scale up properly in the larger inverted symbol. Neat idea but a little unwieldy to use on keyboard! Could be an interesting concept in the VR hand-tracking world :astonished:

Got to level 9! Pretty cool concept and fun! Very simple and easy to pick up. Basic rock paper scissors balance. Did feel a little bit impossible on some rounds if the enemy composition suddenly shifted. I could refund one unit, but wouldn't have enough money to buy a replacement sometimes, so I was a bit stuck in my team comp. Nice audio and visuals! Really fun to watch the auto-battling sequences. Really nice work!

Idea Catcher——Summoning Tools by DrgCandle 2024-04-16T11:11:56Z

Excellent puzzle game! Really satisfying to figure out the solutions on some of the levels! The levels were so well designed and challenging, but fair. I had a great time! Level 2-4 was my favorite :)

PIED PIPER by arColm 2024-04-16T01:22:38Z

Really unique mechanics!! Playing this really gave me a sense of being a summoner, and mixed really well with the platforming. You really captured the theme of the jam perfectly. I really enjoyed the puzzles as well.

The levels were exceptionally designed, and I loved the detail of seeing a peek of trees outside when you were nearing the end. That last level.... SO COOL. You really required ALL of the flute skills to make it to the end of this game. What a journey! I had a blast! Absolutely incredible work for 48h!!!

Imp Master by Owtuvammo 2024-04-15T17:07:10Z

I absolutely love the pixel art and character designs. Super charming. Really interesting mechanic interactions as well with lots of variety and layers to the puzzle design! I think the imps were sometimes misbehaving with my clicks though. I found it hard to get them to go directly to the lever when I spawned them, so I often felt like i had to "trick" their pathfinding by recalling them while standing awkwardly on the other side. Since I wasn't trying to do anything clever and just get them to hold the lever, it felt a bit cumbersome. But when you have to intentionally recall them into the forcefields, that was really cool! Nice work! :)

Conjurer's Quest by Dywanix 2024-04-16T21:09:20Z

The summon mechanics were really interesting and had a nice variety. I really loved the art and aesthetic too. Really fun platforming and challenging level designs that were approachable but difficult to get perfectly the first or second try. I think adding some 'coyote time' would have helped a lot, especially when using the cloud summon. Really nice polished game!

The Wizard Games by nickCherns 2024-04-15T16:31:08Z

Nice 1v1 hadouken simulator! I really liked the way you showed the button combos. Being able to see ahead helped me keep up my speed. Really fun spellcasting! Did I have fun? VERY MUCH SO. Really satisfying to go fast with this. But would I wanna play another round? I think I'm good. Didn't get hit once in the whole round. Really fun for a once-playthrough, though! Nice work! The intro title sound was funny ^_^

Numeric Summon Circle by BruceZoom 2024-04-16T11:29:27Z

Really cool concept! One bug that ended my run was that LEFT CLICK also seemed to kill my units :(

And my guys were so HUGE that when I tried to click on anything in the screen (including the nodes in the sigil), it accidentally registered as clicking my unit... and yep he died so I was left undefended.

Screenshot_35.png

Really cool and unique design! Really great interpretation of 'summoning'. I like the math aspect and how overpowered you could make your units with a bit of multiplication power. It was really satisfying seeing them spawn at giant scale with huge numbers.

It was a little confusing when I first started the game — I didn't realize I had to start with the top-most node in order to produce any defenders. I think if that was glowing brighter than the others, I would have known that was a requirement to start. Took me a few Game Overs before I even realized that!

Really had fun once I got my army going, though! Until the bug I mentioned where I killed my own army by accident. The first was an accident, then the 2nd was me confirming that it was indeed a left click that killed my guy. Whoops. Things were starting to get a little crazy with the fractions going on too.

Screenshot_36.png

Really creative premise and fun game loop. I really liked watching the automatons fight each other. Excellent work!

They Ran Out Of Flying Spells So Now I Summon Platforms by Gaverion 2024-04-16T21:34:18Z

Really cool concept and great title! Was really cool getting the timing and rhythm of this game down. It felt kind of cool to be able to choose your own way to solve it. I personally liked just making a really tall tower of platforms and jumping to the goal. Nice work!

A Following Wind by digitaliliad 2024-04-15T13:29:19Z

Really love the way you visualize the wind! Really nice aesthetic vibe overall. The waves around the temple looks super cool too. I love the snappy pixel art overall.

Audio seemed a bit low for me so I really had to crank it up. But love those foley sounds, and the chill background lute.

Gameplay was fun and satisfying as well, but occasionally the ships would stop responding to the wind and get stuck in crash-courses that I couldn't seem to affect. Not sure if it was user error or a bug.

Although I loved the wind visuals, it was a little confusing to know exactly where the "game interaction" was taking place, since they were kind of appearing and disappearing all the time and I would lose track of the vectors I had drawn. Sometimes a ship would rush past before the gust of wind intersected with its path since it would kind of slowly crawl along the click-and-dragged vector path. I think my instinct was to want the wind to be a bit more immediate and semi-permanent so I was more aware of what vectors active on the screen.

Overall, really fun concept and excellent work!! I had a great time playing. :)

Blood of the Altar by Hot Noggin Studios 2024-04-16T02:10:37Z

The variety of summoning spells was really cool and unique. I had a blast playing. Survived till 0:52 in my best run, so definitely a short and sweet game. There was definitely some loudness factor with all the sounds overlapping, but I dig the retro sound FX. Sometimes adding some low or high passes to sounds can separate them better when they'll be overlapping a bunch, or just soften them overall.

Love the pixel art and all the crazy particle effects!! The kicking felt really good how it slows down a bit during the kick. Nice gameplay loop. Great job!

Bunny’s Dusty Odyssey by Snowdrama 2024-10-08T13:59:47Z

https://youtu.be/fJoq5l9QKgE Super interesting aesthetic! Love the color scheme and designs. Feels very.. "digital glitch dimension" though as opposed to being inside a vacuum like the story suggests, so I didn't really feel connected with the story. But I liked the concept! I basically hold down shift the entire time and there's not much reason to walk instead of run, so that would be better just toggled permanently by default. Level 3 music got SUPER LOUD and gave me a reason to end my play session. Had fun for the first few levels tho :) Nice work

Tiny Game Hunting Holiday by Antti Haavikko 2024-10-08T17:50:14Z

https://youtu.be/vMj1XwPVuB8 Really nicely made UI and the character's bouncy animations are super fun!! My lack of geography knowledge definitely was the hardest part of this game. Wish the map was labeled or at least had more lines between countries to help me get my bearings better! Felt confusing when I'd land in "Unknown lands" and not have a way to reveal what country I was in or where the borders were.

Towerfall by Avi 2024-10-08T23:33:49Z

https://youtu.be/-xLn70cPqaI

Really cool concept and fun game that had me hooked all the way through! The core mechanic has a lot of depth in its simplicity, gave me Downwell vibes but with a new spin on it. The levels were really well designed over all, but a few of the levels I felt like I had to break the game a little bit to complete. I wasn't sure about the intended solution so just had to spam wall jumping a little bit to get past the crumbling blocks. There was a little bit of stuttering in the movement here and there that made it a little tricky too, but overall felt good to play. Great job i enjoyed it a lot! :) Also love the music!!

Fantastic game!! :) I was really hooked by it. Really great recipe for a fun game loop!!

Love all the environmental animations and details. So much charm!

Only thing I'd suggest is a tracker for the 5000 gold objective. I didn't realize it was cumulative, and thought I had to forego upgrades for a while to stockpile 5000 so I could win. I would have bought a few more upgrades while I was farming!

Had a great time playing. You also made the length of the game perfect, around 10-15 minutes to beat. Great work!

incredible work!! Everything is so polished and cohesive. The art and sound design is really inspiring. I wasn't very good at the actual game loop but I appreciated the creativity! I would love to explore this world using this style of point & click gameplay to be more of a slow-paced thinky puzzle, or lemmings kind of game rather than fast reaction times and high score though

Chimeracle Maker! by giraffalope 2024-10-08T15:27:57Z

https://youtu.be/Z4qsvBT8R2c

Love the art and design of the creatures! The music was excellent too. I liked how the music got more and more intense as you progressed. Everything felt really nicely polished. The game loop itself felt a bit simple at times. I found myself focusing more on the selection part menu, racing against time instead of getting to appreciate the charming and funny characters. There's a unique appeal in creating your own little chimera, but the gameplay of matching the CPU's design and then quickly discarding it to progress kind of took away from that 'design-a-monster' charm. It might be worth exploring ways to let players enjoy their creations a bit more before moving on. Really nice game overall tho!

You Can Save The Rat by poboy 2024-10-08T19:33:23Z

https://youtu.be/6T3sz4CKst0

The game is very sweet, cozy, and relaxing UNTIL THE VICIOUS DEATH SCREENS which were a very high contrast to the mood of the rest of the game. But I really liked the art style!! Writing was well done and interesting. The ending death scenes definite hit the emotional note, since the writing with Tiny is so wholesome and heartfelt. If the cat simply scares him back into his hole and a soft reset rather than a death restart... i think the ending would have been even more impactful from a writing standpoint, since the player wouldn't be prepared for it or have any expectation of it coming. It kind of pales in comparison to the gruesome death we've already been exposed to.

@fusionnist thank you for that download report! I fixed the upload now the .zip will have the correct files all there. Thank you for playing, and glad you enjoyed :)

Also thanks to everyone for the amazing feedback and suggestions so far! A lot of great feedback that helps us see where we need to improve, and which aspects are working. We're really thrilled that so many of you enjoyed the concept! We've already been brainstorming and planning how we might expand this into a full feature game one day.

Pom Planet by LittleBlackDog 2024-10-09T20:25:49Z

https://youtu.be/3aNWSU6bI4Q I really enjoyed this game! The real-time aspect of the puzzles once the enemies were introduced made it a really unique puzzle game that was not only challenging to solve, but then required careful execution and timing. The mechanics have a few flaws that let you cheese the game a little bit on occasion, but most of the time I felt like I was solving the puzzle as intended. Like others have said, a pause button would have been nice at times, but I can also see the impact it would have on the synchronization so maybe that wouldn't work in this game. In any case, many of the little creatures were given as sacrifice to learn the flow of each level first before I made a move. Great pacing and level design. Love the art, really liked how the sounds had reverb and made you feel like you're inside the cave. Only complaint was the 'breaking glass' sound that starts around level 16 was kind of loud. Excellent game that had me engaged the whole way through!

Domohavoc by Alexandru Barbanoua 2024-10-08T19:38:09Z

Character is really funny! Quite funny being able to grab such huge objects. Music loop way too short but i guess that's why Domovoy is "sooooo annoying"? Sounds are extremely loud and hurt my ears. Gravity is a bit too low and hard to see platforms underneath when you're in the air. Pixel art was well done!

https://youtu.be/Er-9kcNDvRw

Lovely game perfect for this time of year. Love all the characters and dialogue that makes a super cozy game! I enjoyed the game loop but it did start to feel a little repetitive without much obstacles or challenges, just more branches doing the same task. But it was really well done! Love the physics of the branches and all the little pixel art animals. I really like the Leaflings and their little acorn hats. Well done!

Dice Killer by WildCodePlay 2024-10-08T12:56:36Z

https://youtu.be/AS4g3D13BEk

Really cool concept for a tower defense style game! Like @ruruie i felt a bit of lag with the dice and some delay on attacks so I missed a few targets, but otherwise it was really fun and intuitive. But why did the single target crosshair turn brown instead of blue like the rest? That was hard to see sometimes.

I think the real-time aspect made it a bit too difficult and could possibly be interesting with a turn-based aspect like Curse of the Necrodancer or something, where each time you attack it causes the enemy to take their actions (moving down), so there's a bit more predictability and strategy. When I had some bad luck with 1's 2's and 3's it was difficult to clear the wave and it was a bit too fast for me to look ahead at my next dice and think of the optimal attack strategy.

Overall cool idea, love the pixel art!

Aww man.. I am so easily hooked by incremental games... or should i say incremANTal? SUPER WELL DONE clicker game. 30 min flew by so fast! Love the music and pixel art, and really well balanced and fun theme. I really wish there was a win condition though!

A few notes from my playthrough: The skills in the upgrade tree that cost 2 or 3 need an indicator, I was confused for a while why I couldn't click them. When you're not in full screen, the UI gets a little bit squished and overlapping.

Overall, really fun :) Great job Screenshot_49.png

Really nice environment and interesting perspective to explore! The lack of music made it feel a bit empty but the design was so vibrant and interesting. Loved all the little details! The mouse sensitivity was a bit high, even when i turned my mouse DPI all the way down as low as it goes, so it was a little tricky to control. I liked how each character had a unique ability too! I also loved each character's animations :) nice work

Clumpnuggets by j_rara 2024-10-08T16:08:21Z

Clumpnuggets!! Funny title, fun little game. I definitely agree about having mouse visible. Alternatively, if the mouse dragging simply rotated you left or right it wouldn't be necessary to show it. But since you move towards where it's actually pointing, that becomes an issue.

Really nice game concept with lighthearted cute characters. I love the level designs! Very well thought out and interesting use of the switching mechanic! I like the details like how the cat will sleep when you're switched to the dog. Gameplay was responsive and felt good, although the gravity felt a little bit odd but I still felt really in control with the platforming. I love the 8bit sound effects, but maybe just a tad bit loud / too crunchy at times. Overall, really solid platformer game that had me engaged the whole way through. The well-crafted levels really stood out to me as the star of the show! Great work!
