Very fun! I played all the way through and really appreciated the tutorial text. I can definitely see this being more fleshed out but for a 48 hour submission I'm really impressed! Nice job

I felt that this was very well put together. The biggest critiques I have are that the game would benefit tremendously from coyote time (being able to jump for an extra frame or three after leaving a ledge), and it would benefit from being able to see what materials you need in order to get the upgrade you're looking for. This would help the player to know what they want to collect and dump.
Well done!
TODO: review game
Great graphics style. An amazing amount of work for a short jam. Well done! I found the controls really hard to master. Not used to these types of games so it could be just me. I would have liked them to be more forgiving so I could more easily recover from falling into deeper holes. I was needing to do tricky double jumps to get out, taking forever!
@tim77 I agree the controls are not forgiving at all, originally I was going to add a dash mechanic that was upgraded with the suit, but I ran short on time :(. Thanks for the quality feedback!
LATE EDIT: I added it for the jam submission.
@youthfulidealism Thanks for the kind words! Coyote time would definitely by a nice addition. I thought about adding it earlier on, but I pushed it off thinking I'd do it Sunday. I ended up forgetting about it lol. Also, I agree that being able to see which materials to collect while outside the elevator would be useful. Maybe some kind of addition to the UI?
LATE EDIT: Both were added for the jam submission.
@delicioussalad Thanks! I hate reading tutorials that are just plain text (like instructions on the game page, or a "How to Play" section in-game), so I try to make them integrated into the game while staying ignorable if you're replaying it. Glad to see others like it too!
@lakshyaisagod I wouldn't give myself that rating, but I'm happy to hear someone else would :)
EDIT: They edited their comment?
Nice graphics. Lighting works. Got stuck too fast. But well done for publishing.
Really cool game, i think the biggest issue is really floaty jump, also i think a designated UI element for tutorial text would work much better with this ammount of mechanics, something simallar to what gta V has, when you reach a certain area a text appears instructing you in one of the corners, text in world space is cool, but only when there's not that much text, also a more noticable effect when mining ores would be nice juicy element and maybe give few bullets at the start, i was confused at first why i can't shoot, and thought i need to reload, pressed R and restarted level lo other than that game is really good, and impressive, also i am not sure but i think for compo you have to make everything yourself and you said you used not your audio, i know you opted out but still i think it all needs to be made by you to submit for compo, just saying, i don't really care personally but it may cause some problems for you and just wanted to let you know
also i had this bug: bug.PNG
Wow! This is really impressive and fun. I liked the floating help text a lot. I was so laser focused on this game (I'm a terraria addict so it really spoke to me :smile: ) that I said "awww" out loud when the game was over. I loved needing to prioritize which ores I could collect so that I could upgrade my storage so I could get more ores. The combat and movement are really impressive for such a short time period, too. shooting the bats was fun. I loved the last level, where I was running around frantically trying to find the right ore, clicking on ore to toss it, and jumping around to avoid the bat fires. Genuinely super fun. Great job.
@kristinamay I appreciate the kind feedback :)
@noeloskar Good advice, I'll fix it for the jam if I have time. As for this compo entry, if I run into an issue with me using other sound effects I'll just take it down. I don't especially mind since I'm going to resubmit for the 72 hour jam anyways. It is what it is. I hope I'll be fine though.
EDIT: This submission is now for the jam and has been updated.
@mdotedot Where exactly did you get stuck? I'd like to remove any known softlocks for my jam submission.
Got stuck in the first level as well. The jumping gravity is just a bit too much and I had trouble getting over some jumps.Screenshot_54.png
@goodwincek I guess I didn't make it clear in game, but that isn't where the end of the level is. There is nothing past that. Once you have all of the energium necessary to progress you go back to the elevator. You weren't stuck, it just wasn't clear where to go.
I Enjoyed my play through. The tutorial text were really super helpful, especially for right click mechanic. The play with lights adds immersion, and there's a really good feeling of exploration some jumps are a bit tricky, i felt that the music didn't match very well
Cool game. I like the dark flashlight vibe. Would have liked to get into the action even sooner!
@youthfulidealism Both your suggestions were included in this page's resubmission for the jam. I appreciate the quality feedback.
@cinderblade I couldn't think of anything unique or fitting, so I quickly made a song that was more chill since they tend to be easier and simpler to make. If I had enough time to make a proper soundtrack, I'd for sure add some better more "cave-y" music. Thanks for the feedback!
@rhoff95 Maybe I should have thrown an enemy in on the first level just so player's don't get bogged down with reading all the text. Thanks for the feedback!
This is a pretty neat idea. Its amazing how much you were able to get done in a weekend. I think you concept of a context based melee-ranged system was interesting. One critique I have is that the jump feels really stunted. Maybe that was intentional, but it made getting up onto platforms sometimes really tricky.
@retrospecter The jump is upgraded along with the suit, but I didn't make it very clear. Dashing makes up for it a good bit, but I can understand that it can be tricky to grasp and might feel annoying for the average player. Thanks for the feedback!
Loved the in-game tutorial, and the gameplay (especially the dashing mechanic) was quite fun. The screen shake was a little intense for me, but I think it was used pretty tastefully and I'm just not a screen shake guy haha. Very nice job
@nykolar If I had time, I would’ve added a way to modify settings and screenshake would definitely be something players could tweak. I’m aware it isn’t for everyone :sweat_smile:. Thanks for the kind words!
LOL, your game name is kinna same as mine. I love your game, very authentic. But it a little bit dark tho. Great job. You should try mine too brother
5/5 in all categories from me.Awesome !.
@baconn00 Hellevator is a common term, I first heard it from terraria :sweat_smile:. It’s dark for the atmosphere, but if I had time I should have added a darkness slider in case people couldn’t see well on their monitors. Thanks for the feedback, I’ll try your game as well in a bit!
@eugenik Thank you!
Wow,I like this graphic style, it's so cool. Really amazing.
Really nice game! Graphics are awesome. Maybe the camera shake effect was too big for my taste. Overall its really nice and polished game. Good job!
great game, wish we could mine the ground blocks though, also the UI is a little confusing, you should expand on this game, got the itch to keep going, the inventory is a bit unforgivable tho, maybe lets has have more space?
@the1 Screenshake is something I personally love, but I should have added a way to tone it down in case other players didn’t. I appreciate the feedback.
@achila-eranga-mohottige Mineable blocks would have been a great gameplay addition! The inventory is upgraded with the suit, I messed up by not making that clear. If I ever expand on this, I’ll be sure to make the inventory easier to manage! Thanks for playing!
@kenforest Thanks! Once you get rid of the darkness effect it’s a lot less impressive though :sweat_smile:.
As others have mentioned, the jumps are a little rough. I also had a lot of problems with the camera moving a little too much. Like when pressing against a wall, it shake a lot. But there is a lot of game here for just a jam. It doesn't seem like it would take much to flesh this out into a sellable product.
@danial I agree with what you and others are saying, jumps and dashes seems to not be as easy as I thought, and I really should have set time aside for a way to tweak settings. You're right, with some new additions this could really be something cool! I spent most of the time on building the base of the game, so adding more content would be rather easy :smile:.
very sick
Great Terraria feel. Good work on the particles for the dropped ore. Cool concept. I didn't realise right away that I wasn't storing my resources, and only had my carry capacity. After that, I was more precise with what I mined and collected.
Enemies are good, the luck dragon sheep thing only being visible in the dark is a good touch, but it still hurts when you can't see it.
@hamblock Thanks!
@Xeke-Death The sheep is slightly buggy due to it being added in like the final hour :sweat_smile:. Thanks for playing!
Amazing ludum dare game, it looks and feels great. I had some trouble getting used to was the jumping, it felt a bit off for me.
@krexor The jump is relatively weak at the start, but upgrades alleviate that. I should have made it feel fine from the get go instead, but I never really thought about it. Thanks for the feedback!
The game was very polished and full featured. I think maybe having the camera not move with the mouse might make the platforming a little more difficult. I really liked picking up the oar, very satisfying.
@simpathey The mouse adjusting the vision definitely made platforming less-than ideal, since I'm working on expanding this game further, I'll be sure to include a way to optimize it! Thanks for playing!
Congratulations on your game, beautiful graphics, I really felt like I was in a mine, a suggestion would be for the light to be fixed on your character and the light not to go through the walls so it creates a more realistic feeling, very good experience, a big hug, if you can give your feedback regarding my game I will be grateful.
@etrealjunior Thanks for the good feedback, and I'd be glad to try out yours.
