Incredible submission! Really good use of the theme in a fun a creative way. the design of the games art and music combined very well making for a great atmosphere.

Good job!

When I realized the trick to that last screen my jaw dropped. The main mechanic is super neat, especially with the discovery of new melodies later on. Amazing aesthetics, as well. Extremely cool stuff! My fingers hurt. pied piper.jpg

Incredible, one of the best for sure

hot-noggin-studios 2024-04-15 20:16

Very nice submission! The theme was interpreted in a great and fun way and the puzzles are nicely challenging.

Never before have I been so frustrated at my own dexterity, haha!

I don't think the `W` or `S` keys do anything (unless I missed something?), so it's a little confusing having them show up at the start; but I do understand that just showing `A`/`D` may have been more confusing :) Maybe fade out the W/S keys? Just a thought!

When I was messing around on my second playthrough, I managed to clip through the level, and restarting sent me back to the first room; not a big deal (as before, it was my second playthrough (I couldn't get enough of the rats(!))), but you may want to think about failsafes in the future, and *again* again this did not effect my enjoyment of this game!

I didn't hear the music until I turned up the volume near the end, but it fits well. Great puzzles (I got a few a-ha moments; those are always awesome) and well executed gameplay mechanics!

...and (SPOILER?) thanks for the laugh from "Gravity Rat"!

@literally-void Thank you so much for the thorough feedback! Your points are very valid, and I really appreciate it. I had a decent amount of playtesting done, so I'm surprised a bug this big still exists, but I guess that's bound to happen haha.

warren-fisher 2024-04-15 22:17

Really awesome job! I love the atmosphere, and the gameplay is really innovative and fun. I'd love to see this fleshed out into a longer game with more flute patterns and summons. Love it!

ghettobastler 2024-04-15 23:01

This is a great puzzle platformer! The mechanics are great, and the puzzles very clever (especially the one based on the last ability). The overall theme is also a nice take on "Summoning". Love it!

sudocoffee 2024-04-16 01:13

This was a seriously awesome puzzle game! The audio and visuals were a vibe, the puzzles were all satisfying, and I loved the little melodies on the flute. Flying through the air in the last room was kind of magical.

Also found speedrun strats:

@sudocoffee Thanks for playing! I actually looked into skips on some of the levels, but I didn't find this one! Really cool strat :)

goodwincek 2024-04-16 01:22

Really unique mechanics!! Playing this really gave me a sense of being a summoner, and mixed really well with the platforming. You really captured the theme of the jam perfectly. I really enjoyed the puzzles as well.

The levels were exceptionally designed, and I loved the detail of seeing a peek of trees outside when you were nearing the end. That last level.... SO COOL. You really required ALL of the flute skills to make it to the end of this game. What a journey! I had a blast! Absolutely incredible work for 48h!!!

Hey I love your game!! Total Loom vibes with the instrument. Great visuals!

drgcandle 2024-04-16 04:06

Your game's style is truly unique; it's hard to believe this astonishing creation was made in just 48 hours. Seriously, buddy, do you have only one brain? I mean, aren't you one of those geniuses with a bunch of brains or maybe cyborg-enhanced? It's really incredible.

And I absolutely love your puzzle design—the difficulty is spot-on, challenging without being trapping. Your skills are the epitome of mastery, and it's genuinely enviable. Pal, you deserve high praise; I thoroughly enjoy your game and am eager to learn some valuable lessons from you.

spratt 2024-04-16 07:51

Awesome submission! It was very satisfying to get the hang of the different note combos :rat: :musical_note:

luc-creationallabs 2024-04-16 08:18

Very unique and interesting game, well done!

digitaliliad 2024-04-16 16:34

Some difficult combos required, but I feel compelled to see it through when I have a little more time. Loved the 1bit graphics and the subtle, but crucial music. An amazingly complete compo entry, thank you for submitting!

2024-04-16 17:27

Love the Art style so much and also the mechanics, and overall mood and music! Very awesome entry!

wouterk12 2024-04-16 17:38

Very cute and innovative game. I really enjoyed playing it, well done! :D

2024-04-16 17:59

Awesome game! Loved the differents combo with the flute you can do, the visual and the level design. And the music goes incredibly well with the game. Well done!

fullsaphir 2024-04-17 12:35

Really cool game! But the last level was really too hard for me, I didn't make it even if I try a lot of times. You have to change the gravity mid-air, is that right? Anyway, the concept is really good, and the difficulty is okay the rest of the time. One of the best games I see here, for sure!

rpgwanderer 2024-04-17 20:04

That's an excellent puzzle game ! Being able to summon rats using your flute to your aid is very clever and being able to play an instrument reminds me of Wonder Boy in Monster Land on master system. Great mechanics, great mood, great music, I really liked playing this game :)

wuppos 2024-04-18 02:48

This was really cool! I loved the minimal, yet very cute asthetic. The little sounds of the flute especially :D I also thought this concept was very original and worked great for a puzzle game! The way you introduced each new mechanic step-by-step was done really well and not overwhelming. Then starting to combine them all made for some really challenging, but fair puzzles. Really well done!

magnusfurcifer 2024-04-18 03:04

Really cool game. I love the little rats following you around! The mechanics are fun to use and easy to understand, the visuals are amazing and the game sounds good too. There was a nice gradual difficulty curve so I didn't feel overwhelmed and the usage of the theme was on point. Awesome entry!

@ategon Thanks for playing my game on stream! Yeah, I'd be happy for you to put my game in the video :)

Got stuck, but really enjoyed the game. Very nice idea, easy to understand hard to master  Nice graphics, audio and gameplay. VERY well done!

saryah 2024-04-21 02:37

Fantastic entry, loved the design and colour choice. The Three Dart Rat level beat me unfortunately, but I still enjoyed trying.

yukimiitsuka 2024-04-21 16:15

Nice entry of this! The cute little guy and great level design make this game perfect. Well done!

kawa-yoiko 2024-04-23 17:37

As a fan of puzzle platformers like _Celeste_ and _VVVVVV_, I surely enjoy this! The controls are smoothly tuned and the puzzles are intriguing (minus a very minor glitch of rats stuck in wall blocks afloat), with cute, detailed 1-bit graphics. The melody part (an _Ocarina of Time_ tribute?) might not seem quite well justified (since they could easily be replaced with separate buttons without harming the integrity of the game's setting), but anyway, it adds the right amount of challenge in execution. Overall this is highly polished and enjoyable as a compo submission. Kudos!

arcolm 2024-04-24 02:18

@kawa-yoiko Yeah it was actually heavily inspired from Ocarina of Time since I recently played it haha. I appreciate that you recognized it! ^^ I wanted to make the buttons feel like you're actually playing the flute to summon the rats like the Pied Piper, but definitely I agree there's some friction for lots of players with the controls. I appreciate the feedback! :)
