music is really good. i like the unique gameplay mechanic with the diamond navigation. the pacing is a little slow. the heart was actually a little challenging when it started tracking you. really creative idea and execution. i think it would be helpful to have health bars instead of the fractions showing your health.

Really fun game! I liked the humor and Undertale vibes.

The fighting mechanics are very interesting, but I thought that the character movements were a bit slow (:

quoclon 2021-04-27 01:58

That was great. I agree that the movement, dialogue, and transitions between portals were a bit too slow. I thought the combat was awesome. Maybe may favorite mechanic so far. I loved the rhythm of dodging. The guitar during the battles was epic!

Nice twist on the combat. Has a dream like feel to the visuals and mood. A nice variety of music but could use some sound effects as well. As others have mentioned, a lot of things could've been sped up from the text to the movement.

Really liked the ambient music and artwork! But something to keep in mind for jams like this is player attention span. You lost me after giving me two dead end paths right at the beginning with such slow character speed :(

Great game with great music and very challenging and many variation in the fights; you really explored your interesting system here. I also liked the style and the mystical story approach. Great game!

This feels like an emo Undertale. The movement during combat leads to unexpected strategies. You've done a lot of work on combats and it shows !

I really liked the art and the take on the Undertale like combat system.

I found the movement speed was a little slow and the combat encounters were quite difficult. It would be better to ease the player in a bit more with some easy encounters before ramping up the difficulty. The game would also benefit from a run away feature so you can escape an encounter you're having trouble with. I was having a really hard time defeating the heart and had to restart the game to try going a different path. Fighting the brain was much easier, so it would've been nice if I could try different alternatives without restarting the game.

Great work! Given more time and polish, I think this could be an interesting game.

What a great entry! A good reinterpretation of the Undertale’s combat system

Nice job !

Interesting game, fights were really cool. Here's my completion time:

Great atmosphere! Loved the music and i think the slow pace between fights was really fitting. The combat system was super unique and i really enjoyed it. The art was good and consisten, which is quite important imo.

Great job!

Completed in 25 minutes! Damn "myself" was a hard challenge!

Also not sure how I feel about the fact the heart is much more challenging to fight than brain.

The visuals are great and the music is catchy. Especially the music on the last boss just keeps playing in my head. I can't believe this is a compo entry and was created in 48 hours with all its content. That's a lot of content, it is a finished game actually. Great great great job!

I like the innovative fighting mechanic. The thing that was a bit off to me is the corridors on the first level - they were just too long and too straight. The other thing is the second level with bunch of portals. It seemed that I was supposed to have a choice, but didn't have any.

But this is just nitpicking, I can't express how surprised I am that this whole deep experience was built in just 48 hours!

Awesome boss fights and unique but simple combat mechanics! Music and graphics were great. Not sure how the sun and moon relate to anything, and the level pathing could use some work. But I beat it in 13:52!

This was AMAZING! I loved the combat system and the difficulty was just right for me. I want to see more of this now

Really cool combat system. I fought the brain, but found the heart a bit too hard. It kept me coming back but I gave up in the end. Some combat SFX would be good. Nice work.

homlet 2021-05-04 16:58

That was a great take on Undertale gameplay, with a psychological theme. I really felt I was living the fever dream by the end. Unfortunately I didn't manage to beat myself. Having more than 3 hit points in the final battle would have been helpful, even if just as a difficulty setting.

bonsai 2021-05-04 20:36

great game! it was really challenging. a little more dialog would have been great after the final battle to wrap up the story and reward the player. i also agree with the others who said that more easy opponents in the beginning would add a lot to the game. :)

tim77 2021-05-05 06:36

I liked the idea of the separate minigame for combat. I didn't know what I was supposed to be doing in the fight against the heart - what were the blood / exclamation mark icons? Was I supposed to collect them? Some parallax background would to keep the player aware that they're moving down that long corridor. Good luck for the jam!

crow-seeds 2021-05-05 06:38

Holy cow. I really love the strange aesthetic going on. It has the same sort of vibe as Undertale/Earthbound but there's a whole another component that feels really original and genuine. I really like the music and how it helps convey the mysterious yet determined atmosphere. The gameplay was really fun and the fights felt fair with the indicators. My only complaint was that the walking speed was a bit too slow. Overall, a really great entry, definitely one of my favorites of this jam!

la-bread 2021-05-05 19:51

the dummy and gameplay at the start made me think too much of undertale, but after playing this, it's much more different is a good way. I love the music aswell!

Great implementation of battle mechanic with this diamond box I haven't seen that before. Congrats!
