Cute! I love the graphics and the theme. But it would be more satisfying, if you could see the enemy taking damage, you have no real feedback that tells you that the more expencive "towers" are moore powerful. Maybe an animation or a number telling the damage or both. :)

Love the art direction and music in this one. Special shout out to the title screen also. The cat designs are great and I lost it at the cat mushrooms, too good. I agree with the other commenter that the difficulty balance isn't quite right, it becomes very difficult very fast. Otherwise a great foundation for a tower defense, with some balance tweaks it should be purrfect

The artwork in this game is so charming! It just looks amazing. Also well done one the music track.
The game is kind of difficult though (which isn't a bad thing). I wasn't able to get past wave 2.
One improvement I can think of would be to change the targeting AI of the cat towers. Often stop attack enemies with low health and target another one. I think it would make sense if they prioritised targets with low health or that are along the path the furthest.
All in all amazing game though!
Really great and cute graphics, I love all the characters! As other have said, this is a very hard game :sweat_smile: I think it was most frustrating that sometimes the cats would stop targeting the furthest along enemy and just let them wander past
Very cute game! During my first playthrough I placed the 5-cost cat on the farthest left spot and it wasn't able to defeat anything. I tried again in a different position and was able to get to wave 2, but I couldn't build up enough cost for more powerful cats.

Jajajaj Cat astrophe kills me, is a very nice and pretty tower defense and the art is (bad word) incredible!!!
The art of the game is pretty cute and the music is nice as well, but there's some serious balancing issues. Firstly, I couldn't tell which way the moster were gonna appear until they already started appearing. Second,I've tried placing the first cat in all 4 spots multiple times but I was only able to win round 1 like, 2 times, becaue I always get stuck at 4 points and I can never summon a second cat. On the 2 times I did got to round 2, I tried placing the 20 points cat in the middle but it was still not enough to win the round, and thus I never got to the 3rd round. Maybe it would be nice if they targetted the enemy with the lowest health instead of the closest.

I would like to see more cat-tower slots and types and enemies. Also adding sound effects would enhance the experience a lot. I think it is a pretty game and I enjoyed it :heart:
The art and themeing here really is spot on. Love the sprites for the characters, and the little story. Felt bad about taking out the little dogs! I am reticent about the idea of changing the balance of the game post-jam though, I think you should add an option to play it as it was submitted, as usually post-jam fixes are more meant for "typos" - i.e. things you'd have caught that are small fixes. But the game I played was solid and a nice enjoyable experience. Well done! Splendid job.
It looks ok in principle, but it was very boring to play). Plus I didn't even see the enemies' health to calculate places for towers. And I guess you forgot to set UI scaling. But still well done.
@pickens-inc thank you ! It was more a bug that the balancing was wrong, since it did not work as we intended, but we do not want to Break the rules. It was a First Timer for our programer though and this is a hard decision. We can Reverse that for the ratings.

@meru If I didn't change almost anything, then personally I would just speed up the game (that is, I made the enemies faster and the towers faster). And the map is too tortuous and seems very long (perhaps because of the speed). And if you already change the game, then I would add all sorts of at least typical solutions to tower defence, when there are not only bullets, but some kind of laser or status effects, but I think that you just did not have time to do this. Well, it was also boring because getting the `+1` currency from one enemy does not give you any tangible pleasure.
But maybe I just didn't understand something, so don't take my words as the ultimate truth).
That's fair! Don't stress too much about it then, if it was a bug!
Incidentally, I don't think feedback of "very boring" is particularly constructive or in the spirit of things. If you'd like some constructive criticism, certainly I think the two things you can focus on is pacing and what's called "game feel". The pacing thing has been talked about, I but the game feels is the part that's tricky to nail, it's all about making it feel satisfying to actually make progress in the game. It applies to most games really.
In your game, that would really come down to making it feel nice to spawn towers and watch them destroy the enemies! You often achieve this with punchy responsive controls, nice animations or particles, and satisfying sound effects. I fully appreciate that sound is often something we run out of time for but it would have really helped out here, since the cats have no animations! If you could give them animations, sound and some effects, and make some nice effects and sounds when enemies got hit and killed, it wouldn't even matter as much that it was a bit slow, because it's fun just watching the machine go through.
I usually say that if you have to choose between more gameplay with no sound/polish, or less gameplay with sound and polish? A smaller but more polished experience always works out better! But that's a skill you'll get better at with time. As it is, I think this was a cute little entry.

@pickens-inc Thank you so much for your feedback! The cats and attacks had an animation... but unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to add them to the game :( I believe we'll include them in a later version of this game. :cat2: :sparkles: Same for the sound effects~
My pleasure! Ahh, that's a classic jam thing. My poor artist made numerous effects I just didn't have time to add mid-jam. Definitely would be fun to see it polish!
Great art and music! The dog sprite in wave 3 is so cute.
This was such an enjoyable game! I love the art style and the strategic aspect of it and I can totally see myself play this for hours if it would continue xD I loved that it speaks to the cat audience people that just love kitties.
Very cozy game, the music was really nice, and loved the art ^^ I had some issues with the UI not scaled correctly to my monitor and the esc/pause didn't really have a pause menu, also would love to be able to see some kind of visualisation on how much damaged the enemies but overall very good game :) Also a big plus for the cat theme :D
Hey, you guys made a really fun game. It plays off the whole Lovecraftian theme in a cool way. The gameplay itself, is quite uncomplicated and even boring, especially towards the end, you just get tired of waiting for the end of the wave, but the general atmosphere and humor is definitely the main advantages of the game, which more than covers for it.
I really liked the style! With some visual tweaks it would be a very pleasing game! Good job!
This was a good take on classic route defense. I enjoyed watching the numbers go brrr. The color pallet was excellent; good job. The soundtrack was an absolute bop and I'll be humming it in my sleep.

Lovely graphics, cute story and good music. Managed to win quite easily, it was a but dull just waiting as once you placed the cats there was nothing else to do. The attacks just shooting circles was a little disappointing, and health bars would have been useful. A great entry though. Good job.

The gameplay is basic, but it was a fun experience.
I would remove some of the text, make the graphics more contrast what is gameplay important and what is just decoration. Also healthbars of the enemies would be nice.
