Would be a good idea to highlight the fishing rod, I ended up running around trying to figure out what to do for around a minute lol

Map size could also be a tad smaller.

Interesting concept though and with a bit more polish it would end up being pretty neat.

olavdeng2 2024-04-15 20:29

Thank you for your feedback! Will definitely take it into account for the next version.

locksmitharmy 2024-04-15 20:58

Still needs some work, but its a great start. I like how you used the theme and still made what you wanted lol, very nice ;)

olavdeng2 2024-04-15 21:06

@locksmitharmy Definitely still needs some work and we plan on continuing with it, but yeah, ended up making what we wanted. But I think the twist of the theme definitely made it more interesting!

Really great graphics in the game itself- it would go a long way if you made the UI look as good as the gameplay, right now it looks like it might be a placeholder font.

olavdeng2 2024-04-15 21:10

@yossarian Yeah, the UI is definitely at the place holder stage. We didn't have anyone that really focused on UI for this Jam, so just cobbled together quickly as programmer art, I appreciate the feedback though

zablas 2024-04-16 11:30

Needs some fleshing out on the UI and maybe a tutorial? But the idea of fishing for summoning materials is dope :)

sozey 2024-04-16 12:32

I love the concept and the game looks great! As others have said, the UI could use some work but it's easy to say and hard to fit in such a short deadline. Good work to you guys!

pfannkuchen 2024-04-16 14:08

I really like the concept and the story, but the game needs some more work on the game process mainly. I just found it a little bit confusing and not much captivating in it's process. 3D graphics are cool. Wish you good luck!

benjiehotwheels 2024-04-16 14:18

Its a little confusing, lack of instructions made it quite challenging to pick up.

cpu 2024-04-16 14:19

i spawned a skeleton and a warior with skull armor but I couldn't spawn the worm somehow pile of dirt is the brown rock right? putting the name of the object next to the image would've helped to be sure what is what :(

martenj 2024-04-17 14:03

Funny Idea, but catching a fish was quite confusing. After I finally summoned a Worm, I never really understand how to fish and what to press and where the fishing rot will go. There would be a Instruction quite helpful. But I loved to be Summoner that just wants to fish!

niltonfirmo 2024-04-17 14:29

Nice graphics but weak gameplay, could free up the mouse to control the camera

iwant-pizza 2024-04-17 19:10

YEAH

smoky01 2024-04-17 20:54

Good game!!, The gameplay mechanics in this game are so intuitive! It’s like the controls become an extension of your own instincts. Plus, the art style adds a unique flair that keeps you engaged throughout. Definitely a gem worth exploring!

bitluderrb7804fr 2024-04-17 21:41

I didn't get how to catch the fish. The fish seem to hook, then I press the key on the screen, the fish lands at my feet, then rolls back to sea... I like the idea and the graphics thoough.

nicekot 2024-04-17 21:52

It's the most unexpected entry giving the theme of the jam! Although, it's kinda clunky to pick up and drop items and items lack labels or tooltips. But it's kinda chill and cute, I like it!

maimai 2024-04-18 00:18

It took me half the game time to figure out how to summon something. On that note, I don't really see what value the time limitation actually brings, aside from allowing for a win state in a jam game (something I didn't manage). Overall, the game is clunky but the idea seems interesting. And I mean that as a net positive, game jams are for prototyping ideas, aren't they? Also, extra points for using Unreal, haha!

cshep99 2024-04-18 04:54

definitely an interesting take on summoning! the hardest part was just getting items into the summoning circle, if i was too close or facing it i would just pick the items back up again (also i think the dirt hitbox is too large or something cause it just launches if i touch it the wrong way). on my second go around i did manage to finally use the vampire bait to catch what i believe was a shark! very difficult under the time constraints.

olavdeng2 2024-04-18 09:11

@maimai Yeah, that time limit thing was really a game jam idea and I really regret adding that. I also agree with it all being clunky, and im gonna spend time refining everything, but for a gamejam to get some feedback and such im quite happy with it. Thank you!

olavdeng2 2024-04-18 09:12

@cshep99 Yeah, its a problem I encountered which is why i also added F to drop items. But really basically every mechanic needs a rework to be less clunky. Thanks for the feedback!

marcie 2024-04-19 16:56

I was a bit confused, it lacks unboarding I think! But the idea is fun and original :) I have the impression that you were also inspired by the fishing theme haha The environment is really beautiful, the water is incredible!

olavdeng2 2024-04-19 17:28

@marcie Yes we were inspired by the fishing theme! Improving the beginner experience is most definitely on the list, hopefully I wanna get a version out this weekend (obviously not for the game jam) which fixes some issues and adds a tutorial of sorts

pebkac 2024-04-20 07:31

It looks amazing - though it could have done with VSynch and a couple of highlights on objects. Also, a description of each item you pick up would have been helpful - is this a rock o a "pile of dirt"? And what is this pink thingy? The fishing minigame had weird Quick Time Events, I couldn't manage to land a fish.

neandi 2024-05-01 20:17

I think a different gamemode that doesnt make you race against time would fit the whole vacation theme. THe whole thing looks super nice though! Maybe you could find ways to incentivize exploration more via gameplay, because you environments look super nice! Would have loved to enter the house.

olavdeng2 2024-05-04 15:54

@neandi i definitely agree, and its something il work on for a next version of the game
