very cool! great vibes, the grapple to your past life was very interesting!

jon-curtin 2025-04-07 05:17

"If you think your game is too hard, make it easier. If you think its too easy, make it easier" I can't remember who coined this sage piece of advice, but I'm glad you ignored it.

Very fun and the backing tunes are great. The ghosting is impressive.

busisen 2025-04-07 08:11

this is so good! love a lot about this, esp. the past life system - makes it a little easier over time without making it easy whatsoever. great submission!

busisen 2025-04-07 11:14

keep coming back to this game lol, simple but so fun

msd 2025-04-07 11:18

i could not reach the bottom but had fun, good job =)

gdman 2025-04-07 14:36

Very addictive and interesting game. Definitely will try to beat it later. Chaining bodies is... something. Definitely need strategy. Currently I've got minimap, star and gravity.

ghettobastler 2025-04-07 14:38

Nice entry. I did not manage to grab all the stars, but it's an interesting idea, very well executed. I'll come back to it and try again. Good job!

adam-gallina 2025-04-07 19:13

Really fun game loop, definitely challenging but in a way that makes you want to keep trying. It would have been nice to be able to purge multiple souls at once, I could only purge 3-4 souls before landing and dying, and I ended up having to restart because I had too many souls in my way. Overall I had a lot of fun, tying to other souls is a really unique mechanic and was well executed!

helagos 2025-04-07 19:20

Great game. The gameplay is addictive. The graphics are also effective and give the game a good vide. Ghosts are also a good addition. You did a very good job !

yossarian 2025-04-07 19:22

@adam-gallina Thanks for playing! I realized how useful purging multiple souls at once would be just shortly after the submission window ended and had some downtime to test more, hah. I've got it implemented now but alas, will have to wait for a post-jam version.

xwilarg 2025-04-07 19:45

Really great idea, and definitely more strategic than first anticipated!

juno-menager 2025-04-07 20:05

damn, that was good

bad-fetus 2025-04-08 00:46

This is incredible for a compo entry! Great music, a fantastic idea and mechanics explored in depth. It also feels surprisingly polished. Trapezing off of past lives is cool enough and yet there are many other mechanics that interplay in interesting ways. Very, very well done!

donutshoes 2025-04-08 05:31

This reminds me of the style of game I would play on like, addictinggames.com in 2008 lol! I like the fast paced restarts, and the past-life grapple is really unique!

jk5000 2025-04-08 06:54

A very well made game. Love the music and visuals. The gameplay idea is super fun. For me the game was way too difficult. Overall a good jam game. Well done.

fernando-puig 2025-04-08 07:00

Love it. A truly crazy concept for a game. There's something tragic but hilarious about one of my past selves grabbing an item that affects my run or tethering myself to a soul only for it to fling me at a wall. Love that the characters break into pieces when they die, super satisfying.

2025-04-08 07:06

This was sooo fun and the core mechanic was so unique. Loved it and had a ton of fun even when most of the time I was just smashing into spikes. My main wish would be to have some way to quickly purge my most recent soul, if only so I could get back to playing it quicker. Great work!!

reecemungus 2025-04-08 08:29

this game is so cool! The ability to grapple onto past souls is so unique and fun. It's great fun exploring the map though a bit too challenging for me - I will definitely keep coming back to this game, great job!

plidomo 2025-04-08 08:45

Wow this is great! So many good mechanics working together - love that you can attach onto the ghosts. Difficult but really well imagined. 5/5!

julienlussiez 2025-04-08 11:51

The game is really fun and the mechanics works really well. The fact that past self influences present self is interesting.

mega-marlon 2025-04-08 12:52

took me a sec to realize i can grapple onto the previous ghosts but once i did this game was a blast. I love the obscene difficulty level of it. It has that "just one more" spelunky feeling to it.

zirrrus 2025-04-08 16:37

It was really fun messing around, even though I didn't get very far at all. Great overall mood!

khatri 2025-04-08 17:34

Amazing. Great idea and very cool gameplay.

scott-r-howell 2025-04-08 18:47

Love the idea, love the implementation, love the depth that grows out of the mechanic, the entire thing goes from silly game to mind game when it clicks how free you are to pull insane manoeuvres, I only got to 5 stars though! My 1 criticism would be a lot of the deaths feel like dying blind, if you develop it further consider an indicate on the screen for the nearness of death spikes offscreen then I might have had more strategic swings

Really great work for a jam!

budster16 2025-04-09 02:11

Insanely unique game! love how my past selves can get items for me and the purging of old souls could help a lot when I made a horrible early gravity switch!

jahwffrey 2025-04-09 02:13

This is super cool! Extremely clunky to use correctly but really neat! Very on theme, hellish, and fun - I love that echoes can get upgrades for you!

matt-giuca 2025-04-09 11:21

This is such a cool concept, my first few moments with the game my jaw was dropping with the gameplay possibilities. Unfortunately, after 10-15 minutes and countless restarts, I found it too annoying to continue. I didn't feel I was able to really use the mechanics to progress.

For example, swinging on another dude just caused me to wildly swing around, and I can't really think of a reason to want to do this. The reverse gravity was similarly interesting, but I could never figure out how to use it to achieve anything, because I would have to time the guy picking up the arrow precisely with the guy who needs to use it to go upwards, and it would also mess up everybody else.

Maybe I just suck, but I just died a lot, and ended up becoming frustrated. Really cool idea. I think it would be great to start off in a space where there aren't spikes everywhere to learn the mechanics. Great work on the art and music as well.

One more thing: on the web build I couldn't figure out how to go fullscreen, which would have really helped with the mouse interface (I was often clicking near the edge and clicked buttons on the web page).

svenerik 2025-04-09 19:12

Really surprising and creative game! The past-life grappling mechanic is super unique and adds a fun layer of strategy. I loved how chaotic it could get, but it still felt rewarding. Great mood, clever design—really impressive for a jam game! Tried it again, although I still didn't get all the stars, I did get a bit better, marvelous work!

foursay 2025-04-12 05:11

This is way more difficult than it looks! I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with the SMB-style death recap: it’s great because it gives me a chance to make each death feel meaningful, but at the same time, I end up retrying so many times that the list stacks up fast. Then I have to figure out which entry to purge, and sometimes I accidentally delete one that gave me a cool anti-gravity item, which I really didn’t want to lose. Still, I love the core idea—very solid work!

atsh 2025-04-13 16:07

Incredible idea, really funny animation and graphics, and overral great execution

I suck at the game badly so couldn't progress much, but the the nice thing is that it's still entertaining. Begging to see a master of this game play it

crow-seeds 2025-04-13 18:39

Played this on Newgrounds and holy shit this is an incredible idea. Like literally genius and clever

shadyshade 2025-04-15 18:12

The game feels so polished and so fun, nice job! :thumbsup_tone1:

oeuegha 2025-04-18 12:16

From what angle of ur wicked mind did come idea of collection all stars for 1 try?
