Nice game! I made it through with carrying 2 boxes and press SPACE D and Z together to single-jump across the spikes while pick up the last box.

@bad-b4dguy wow, didn't know you could do that, that's some speedrunning strat right there :speedboat:
Hey! I love Kiki's Delivery Service! :D I liked the weight/jump tradeoff, it took me a few attempts to figure it out. Art is basic but it's nice. Fit's the theme perfectly. Good game, khmm Jiji. :) Also, how did you manage to get your godot export to work in ludum dare, it wouldn't play for me. :(
Thanks that was a very cute game. It took me a few tries to figure it out jiji! It's like a little puzzle game. I could see there being more levels with the same mechanics where each level has a different way you need to pick up the packages in order to get them all delivered.
Pretty nice game with the movement and rules. But with my "professional" opinion (and my craving for original platformers) you should continue making this into a full game.
@remus - thanks! you have to export as HTML and name your file "index.html". Then go into the export folder, select all files and make .zip archive out of it. At first it didn't work for me because I was zipping entire folder, not the contents. Other than that I followed the official ludum dare html embedding guide which came to editing index.js file manually and replacing all instances of `'serviceWorker'in navigator`, `"serviceWorker" in navigator` etc to `false` (but I am not sure this step is necessary)
@candlesan @hugetube thank you very much, yeah I think this mechanic with exchanging multi-jumps for packages has potential, maybe I'll revisit it in the future after gaining some experience and skills. I've got some ideas for new levels where you could for example: pick up stones to put them on platforms to unlock doors, drop package/stones them from high enough to destroy some barriers, pick up packages that grant some kind of powerups/bonuses as long as you hold them, different boxes weightinig different amounts and impacting movement, boss fights etc.
Only sad part is there is only one level, nive and easy to understand game. Congrats on the first jam & not giving up!
Great! It's a puzzler disguised as platformer. Was a joy to figure it out! Only issue I had is that I did not first understand I needed to hold down space to jump, so I could not even get out from the pit with the boxes
Pretty cool stuff! I am glad to see someone got a Godot game working on here! Game's pretty fun, too - would have liked to see that the spikes existed first before plummeting to my near-death-experience, but I enjoyed myself!
@teadrinker thanks for playing, haven't thought of that. I might add some jump strength indicator in the future.
@kylethecoder haha yeah, literally got the idea this morning of adding some camera overview of the level before giving control to the player. But that would count as a feature so it's too late now.
Cool little game, feels good to play and it was fun figuring out the fastest way to complete the level. Jiji
Great game idea jiji :)
Cute idea :D
really cool little puzzle, the controls were a bit unintuitive for me but i got used to them. i can see the mechanic of trading jumps for objects that you need to carry being expanded in a bunch of really cool ways, it's a really neat puzzle mechanic.
really nice short game :)
Nice base for a puzzle game. Could see it expanded with different items sacrificing different abilities, to give variations on the "get this fox and hen across the river" puzzle. I'm always a sucker for paint.net graphics.
I glad you decided to see your first Jam through to the end! Good job coming up with a unique mechanic that is indicated very nicely. Naturally there could be improvements in having multiple levels and stuff of the sort, but with the card you were dealt you did amazing!
For a first game jam game, very well done. Love the game play of strategically exchange jumps for more package slots. Awesome job! *Jiji*
Jiji's delivery service? It's cute enough for a few hours work. Good luck in your next jam!
Nice, got it fast. Very straightforward. Great first entry! Shame there is only one level. Could have expanded at the beginning to make more platforming. Maybe next time :)ld53-4.PNG
I like the concept you came up with in the last day. So even if there is not much to play, you proved a great concept. Really nice. Was a straightforward experience <3
Congrats on your first jam! Got a neat little base for something which is better than giving up. Can definitely be expanded on. I really struggled for a while trying to get back up to get the last box. I always came up a but short in height. I finally managed to do it by stacking my first 2 boxes, standing on them and they gave me just enough to reach the high cliff. Felt pretty neat even if not intended .
Agreed with others that it's really cool you finished your first jam game, especially since it didn't go smoothly. Congrats!
This is a cute little prototype, could see a puzzle platformer built on this base. I'd encourage you to see if you could come up with another level or two leveraging these mechanics.
Controls are a bit slippery and the presentation is pretty basic, but for a few hours of work this is neat. Well done.
I struggled to deliver more than a single box. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get back to the high point and always died in the spikes. I guess I am not a very good delivery witch...
Quite a nice game for a one-day rush, well done!
I hereby welcome you to the Ludum Dare community! Hope that your entry will spark another attendance of yours next time :)
There is not much more I can tell about the game itself than others have already said. I treat and rate it as your process and time taken to participate in your first Game Jam.
A couple of things that you may take a look into:
- Jumping when standing on the box does not allow you to move in the air while jumping (quite weird bug) - Maybe 2-3 levels design (introduction to mechanic > simple puzzle > advanced puzzle) could give you a nice setting stone for further development!
That being said, making and completing **your first game**, with actual logic and mechanics is a **priceless feeling**, so enjoy it! :video_game:
And hey! I liked the cute graphics
Nice submission for your first game jam! The game has nice mechanics and everything runs well while playing.
Well done, this is a great game for your first ludum dare entry! Really impressive. I like the concept and gliding over the spike pit felt great
Great first Ludum Dare entry, especially given the short time frame! I can see the potential for this concept to be a fun puzzle game. One small complaint is that the audio was a bit too loud. I hope to see you participating in more game jams in the future!
Nice concept. It would be interesting to see what kind of levels could be made with this.
@floke - spoiler alert - the trick is to take all 3 packages at once and glide over the pit without jumping :D I am surprised that people managed to transport only 2 packages and then go back for the last one, that wasn't intended at all.
Pretty simple game, but good take on the theme. It would have been useful to have a better way to know when a package was delivered, since I had to keep picking up and dropping the packages near the chest until I reached the end screen.
@elementary you were supposed to place them on top of the orange platform, but you're right, it would be good to add some indicator like animated arrow pointing downwards.
Was a bit confusing at first but I really enjoyed it. Good take on the Packages, I tried to avoid this specific style as it is fairly common :P
A nice really cute self-contrained game! I was quite confused at first but soon got the idea! I think this reminds me of an anime?
@weirdbitgames yeah it was inspired by studio Ghibli's anime: "Kiki's Delivery Service"
I like the core delivery mechanic of weight vs jumping and the art is all quite nice. Thanks for the play! jiji? :)
@boon thanks for playing, Jiji is a name of the cat from anime "Kiki’s Delivery Service"
Not bad for a first game jam! Godot is great. Is it godot 4 ? Took me 3 tries to understand I couldn't go back to the higher platform when I dropped only one package. Good game!
Interesting game and congratulations on completing your first game jam!
also @sdelay can Godot 4 even export to web? I thought that was only available up to 3.5
Yes @ollie-d, Godot 4 Can export toi web
Interesting idea of combining platforming and puzzle genre. Had fun playing it.
This was a decent game! I didn't love every aspect of it but I didn't hate it, I can tell you took a long time working hard on the game, the only thing I don't like is that you don't regain your jump when landing on a box itself, because jumping on the box would take a jump then I wasn't able to get to where I needed to go, it could have just been me not knowing how to get through the level correctly or what but that was a problem I was having while playing the game. Other than that this is a nice submission! Keep up the good work!
I see a Jiji's Delivery Service-inspired game, I click. I can say the puzzle was pretty good because I was tunnelvisioned on making the big jump back (until I read about gliding in the controls section). I was disappointed to see it was the only puzzle, but you have a good foundation for a game
I can at most carry two box to pass the gap,is there ana way to carry three box? ps: nice work, like the game idea
Cool little game! I like the concept a lot, it's clever and could be expanded. Loved the refs to Kiki obviously. I think the most priority thing to improve though is the character movement, it needs polish. Overall nice entry!
p.-s.: jiji
Good job on the game! With some more polish this could be a great platformer.
@olddog you can carry 3 at once just fine, try it.
Nice little puzzle here. I needed some hint from the comments to realize that I should carry the packages first on the cliff and then to the other side. I always tried to get back from there  A few more levels with similar puzzles would be cool.
Welcome to LD! The little witch reminds me of that animated film! Overall, the completion is quite good! Looking forward to meeting you again here!
Oh wow, I had to checked the comments whether it's possible to deliver all the 3 packages, and got spoiled the method while I'm at it😅. It's a pretty fun game, with the unique trade-offs mechanic. Awesome job! And you solo'd this as well? Respect!
Congrats on your first game jam! The solution to the puzzle is pretty clever and I definitely could have seen the mechanic being expanded on if you had more time. Good job and jiji!
This is a cool idea, I like the puzzle aspect to it. Would love to see more levels making use of this mechanic in more complicated ways, I think it's got potential!
Very clever game design, thank you!
