LD46 — Keep it alive

Cat Dad Redemption by Riftpoint Entertainment 2020-04-25T07:55:28Z

Really great stuff here! I found a bug where I got to level three, but it didn't advance after I killed all the dogs. Beyond this I think adding a punishment for hitting right click too soon would be good. Great stuff overall.

Algernon's Flower by bentglasstube 2020-04-25T23:34:49Z

Quite a nice little game here. Music is great, I felt like the track fit really well. I also enjoyed the art. The death screens looked especially nice. I would definitely say the enemy AI, and movement while sprinting could use some work. The AI kind of just felt like a non factor, and it was around 2 minutes of playing before I had to worry about them. The movement felt unresponsive while sprinting. Although the way it moved could potentially be fun. I found it hard to turn, and you had to slam into a wall before you could properly turn again. I think this has the potential to be a great mechanic if the levels are designed around it.

Useless Machines Inc. by herniewise 2020-04-23T04:57:18Z

Great aesthetics.

SPECIAL MEAT for a special boy by LethalTurtle 2020-04-24T05:08:12Z

This is a pristine aesthetic. Loved playing this game.

MACHINA by Harry Alissavakis 2020-04-27T05:33:43Z

Incredibly well crafted experience. Great job!

A Meatball by Slowpoke 2020-04-20T19:53:02Z

Overall this was a pretty fun little game. My only complaint would be the controls feel a little wonky. I naturally wanted to hit Left arrow and down arrow to move downwards due to the orientation, and the opposite to go up, but this caused you to go diagonal. I would recommend either changing the orientation, or changing the control scheme to match with your current orientation.

SideKick by Paul Nadan 2020-04-25T03:26:03Z

Nice take on the endless runner genre. Art and music could used some work, but game play mechanics were awesome.

Pocket Bomb by Fajpaj 2020-04-27T05:24:44Z

What I liked:

- Art is excellent - Sound design is great and it fits - Love the Wario ware like minigames

What could be improved

- Punishments for messing up mini games. I noticed I could just cut all wires without listening to the phone, and it would still count. - More variety of mini games

Overall excellent work!

Feeding Time! by Drachmor 2020-04-20T03:27:45Z

Enjoyed it quite a bit! I think the platforming may have been a touch hard for the first level though. Loved the milk boost mechanic, and the animations were cute!

Keep Him Alive by Lamossus 2020-04-25T23:48:45Z

Fun game. Quite challenging. My only complaint is adding some more spice to the shooting. It didn't feel like I was shooting something. Otherwise solid mechanics!

Lamps by qkjosh 2020-04-26T22:18:51Z

Loved the silent hill/resident evil look and feel to this game. One of the best entries for sure.

Can't Control Cage by Shay Cichocki 2020-04-24T04:37:32Z

Wonderfully fun concept. Great art to back it up. However, didn't feel like playing much because I didn't feel like I knew what was going on. Some explanation of what does what would help.

Me and My BEAST by Electric Blue 2020-04-20T05:02:36Z

I liked the concept, but the game was so sped up it was a bit unplayable. I know the problem come from the frame rate, but a touch unfortunate. Another note, I think a better graphic for the wheat would be nice, I thought they were fences at first.

Flare by emmyoop 2020-04-26T22:02:45Z

Things I enjoyed:

- Great moody feel to the game, the lighting and effects were excellent - Music is great and fits well with the theme you two were going for - Love the idea. I could totally see being an awesome game to play with my girlfriend

Things I did not enjoy:

- Biggest thing is I couldn't wrap my head around how to control. The views don't convey depth very well and it's hard to tell that the two screens are the same Level. I only got past the first two levels, and it was more by trail and error than understanding of the concepts. - Menu art could use some tweaks, but this is a small critique. My game doesn't even have a menu or pause button haha.

One tip I'll add is to reference other 3-D puzzle games like captain toad here. Often before the level starts they do a rotation around the level so you get a sense for what you're looking at. I think this could do a lot to help the player gain perspective on the level.

Save the Fish by Duck Reaction 2020-04-25T03:18:49Z

The presentation on this is amazing. I found myself smiling the entire time I was playing. Extremely creative and fun.

StarMart by LadislavOdstrcil 2020-04-20T19:55:30Z

Game looks like a lot of fun, I would recommend reuploading to Itch.IO. You seem to have hit your limit for downloads on the current site.

StarMart by LadislavOdstrcil 2020-04-21T17:50:19Z

Really neat game. The amount of content you crammed in here is straight up impressive. Love the art, and the gameplay is reasonably fun. I'd definitely say you have something great here.

Robo Riot by RNGames 2020-04-20T03:53:19Z

Game Feels awesome. Super polished and enjoyable. The dash is smooth, and moving around and shooting enemies is a good time. Upgrades in between rounds was surprising, and added a ton to the game. The only thing annoying is hunting down the enemies that spawn far away from you. I would also say it would add a sense of urgency if the enemies could attack the core, that might make the gameplay more stressful.

Run Knight Run by ForAll 2020-04-26T21:43:53Z

Nice start to an endless runner. Game feels kind of buggy overall, but I could see it working better with some polish. I seemed to fall through the map at one point, so it would probably be worth checking your collision detection. Unity can be pretty inconsistent with this, so look up some videos on making better collision detection.

I'll also add that the giant octopus bosses attack patterns don't work as well for a game that uses primarily melee combat. It's impossible to have time to predict where the spot without projectiles is going to be without having space between you and the monster. I ended up just staying back and using the alternative attack on this boss.

Graceful Planet by 3ago_ 2020-04-21T18:10:51Z

This is awesome. I think you truly captured what a Jam is all about with this one. You have a simple concept that is easy to pick up and learn, but makes for fun gameplay. The music is nice, and I love the overall aesthetic. Did you 2-D model things and crunch it down to look like pixel art? Or was it all traditional pixel art? The grabbing animation on the planet is extremely satisfying.

Protect the Babey by samsdevlog 2020-04-20T04:19:30Z

@forevertrash The directions are below the game on Itch.io, I didn't have time to add a tutorial haha. You can teleport to the mouse with E, but only after the babey is thrown.

Protect the Babey by samsdevlog 2020-04-20T04:24:20Z

@fiakaiera

Thank you for the advice on the description, I will update accordingly.

Thank you for the feedback! I agree, with the camera, it was not my ideal way of doing things. I wanted a system where if you teleported out of a certain area around the player, the game would slow down until the camera caught up to the player. Had to focus on getting everything finished though, so I took a good enough approach there.

I saw that bug! I choose to leave it in, because none of my play testers found it.

Protect the Babey by samsdevlog 2020-04-23T03:52:50Z

@pilarius Thank you!

Protect the Babey by samsdevlog 2020-04-23T03:54:17Z

@n8 Yeah I was surprised by how fun it was after developing it. I have plans to continue working on it for the next year or so. If anyone is interested in seeing the progress go ot @samsdevlog on twitter. :)

Protect the Babey by samsdevlog 2020-04-25T07:46:48Z

@blobo Sooon. I plan to release some updates for it. I'm torn between keeping the movement the same with the ability to teleport through things, or giving the character 3 dashes and having time slow when you through the babey.

The rabbit's game by Jakub Bera 2020-04-24T05:01:03Z

I can see what you're going for here. I like that you can't just fire carrots off rapidly.

Train by bigassopper 2020-04-23T05:07:33Z

Nice concept and well executed. I could definitely see this being a great couch co-op game if you ever expanded upon it.

Oregano Thanks by veesus mikel heir 2020-04-20T04:02:24Z

This is a prime example of graphics not making the game. Incredibly fun, I was really surprised by how fun it was to protect the plant. I would say you could improve on the UI the most, I couldn't tell what all the bars on the screen ment, but I had fun blasting away!
