While a lot of fun, I did find chasing after all the enemies in the big arena to be quite annoying. The music and graphics were great too.

Great work! The game feels really polished and cohesive.

What I liked was how satsifying the arcade gameplay felt - just dashing around, shooting, all had the right kind of feel aurally and visibly, with the little footprint/ghosting effects and the chiptune sound. The shop and risk/reward gameplay add another dimension too.

It was quite challenging and I died on the first wave a lot from being too aggressive. Do enemies spawn at fixed time in the wave? I was waiting on the last enemy a lot in the first wave, and I'm not sure if I was waiting for them to spawn or if they just weren't heading towards me (do they gravitate towards the player).

I think having the arena be bigger than the screen is cool, but I'd appreciate a marker that points in the direction of where enemies are, since it's easy to get lost in the arena.

i liked the music and the graphics, the gameplay was great too! it gets challenging at first, but once you get the hang of it, it starts to get easier, really fun game!

Game Feels awesome. Super polished and enjoyable. The dash is smooth, and moving around and shooting enemies is a good time. Upgrades in between rounds was surprising, and added a ton to the game. The only thing annoying is hunting down the enemies that spawn far away from you. I would also say it would add a sense of urgency if the enemies could attack the core, that might make the gameplay more stressful.

Game has an incredible feel, really polished. Great little arcade game, I reckon with a bit of work you could turn this into a real mobile game. Definitely my favourite game so far, well done

Good gameplay, lots of polish and even a tutorial! Maybe the arena could be smaller, had to do some searching every now and then

It took me forever to figure out that you have to stand on "Next Wave" to go. I like the use of the theme. You're like enslaved to the core to keep it alive. The shooting and movement feel good. The "feel" of shooting with the slight camera shake is really good. The little details like the trail and the dash effect are good. To do all this and include a shop in such a short amount of time is bonkers. This sort of reminds me of a score attack game such as Geometry Wars. I did end up using the radar arrow as a lead to cheese the AI a bit :D. I'm always fascinated by AI in game jams. We have to make an opponent with little time and use simple methods to complete the illusion. Good work in this regard! I poked at your AI to see how it worked and I think that's a really good solution. Responsive to the player and seems intelligent in a Dalek "Exterminate" sort of way. I would like to see later iterations of this. Good work! Thanks for letting me play your game!

Cool Game ! Good Job

You made an amazingly good game in that short amount of time. But for some reason, in the restart screen, I had to click below the button. Was that just me, or is that a bug? Anyways, this game is definitely on the top 3 of games I played so far.

itskdog 2020-04-20 23:45

Nice looking game. Did have troubles clicking play. It would click if the mouse was not over it. Also, the enemies should have came to the center.

bmacintosh 2020-04-21 01:11

This is just a nice game all around. I did find it a bit easy and quit after maybe a dozen stages.

rngames 2020-04-21 01:20

@bmacintosh I didn't really have time to balance the game which was kind of a bummer. I'm planning on releasing a more balanced version once the voting is over. Thanks for the feedback!

good game!! :D

javasaurus 2020-04-22 07:51

I like how you turned this simple concept into a full fledged addiction! Sure it has some quirks and glitches, but for a game jam game this is far beyond acceptable! I'd love to see this turn into a mobile game !

Really fun little game. Quite impressive for a compo game. I went to wave 6 or 7, and it started being a little boring due to no new mechanics or new ennemies, but after 10 minutes of fun, that's totally forgrtable. Grat job ! Music and music and nice !

quinn-patrick 2020-04-23 00:26

Excellent work, this one shines with polish. The feedback that the game gives is great, between the sound effects and screen shake. That, on top of the variety of powerups and the heart-pounding circle-strafing combat is evidence of the amount of work and skill that went into this. Imagine my surprise, then, when I was killed by just touching an enemy once! This can be especially frustrating when enemies are lurking just below the edge of the screen, and I'm focusing on a different one. Change that, however, and you've got a really solid game with lots of room for expansion beyond Ludum Dare. The music, especially, is a slam dunk.

I think this was a really good game, I felt like I got the main mechanics of the game right off the bat. I was a little confused at the beginning of trying to find how to start the game. I would suggest putting an indicator for the next level. Overall I thought it was good, I liked the store idea, that really introduced new mechanics and opportunities.

le-don 2020-05-02 09:48

I liked this one a lot! Feels very polished and the tutorial is also nice. But at some time I felt like a little variety might be missing.

mono 2020-05-05 21:35

Oh my, this game feels awesome! The controls feel tight and the feedback is great, good amount of screen shake. Definitely among my favorite games from this jam. Keep it up!
