along with ratings, I want to say that this is a good game design

thomas-bringer 2020-04-20 17:21

@despdair Thank you! :)

bigtinygames 2020-04-20 17:59

This is very good game sir I played all levels and it is just A MAZ(e) ING! :)) great puzzle. It lacks some sfx but its a little downside

thomas-bringer 2020-04-20 19:06

@bigtinygames Thanks a lot! Yeah right sfx would have been nice :)

love the graphics

thomas-bringer 2020-04-20 22:22

@immortalitybh Thanks :)

dani-desa 2020-04-20 22:22

Love the graphics, it would be good to move the camera around the level. I found the player's controls are a bit too "unresponsive", he moves too slow imo. Overall I think is is a good concept, I would like to play a more polished version.

thomas-bringer 2020-04-21 07:13

@dani-desa You can actually rotate the camera with A & D or Q & E (this is told in level 4). And yeah I definitely agree that the whole game needs more polish. Thank you for your feedback!

maximbegunov 2020-04-21 13:16

I like such puzzles as yours where core mechanic is so simple and elegant you could create a bunch of interesting levels using only it and nothing else. Also good job on game feeling, I liked the squashing characters and relaxing music.

thomas-bringer 2020-04-21 14:28

@maximbegunov Thank you so much! :D

Very fun and interesting puzzles! It has its charm to it that not a lot can create! Good job!

thomas-bringer 2020-04-21 18:00

@agentnick Thanks a lot! :D

fabrizio-spadaro 2020-04-21 18:11

Fun gameplay, nice "cinematic?" and great level desing and art style :D

dedicave 2020-04-21 18:14

Lovely idea! And very good level and game design. Nice job!!

finntastico 2020-04-21 18:21

Really lovely art style, I like how everything wobbles. Also liked the little introduction in the beginning. The movement itself felt a bit unresponsive, but the puzzles itself were quite fun. I felt quite stuck in the 3rd level because I didn't realize I could move before making the decision haha

framboisedodue 2020-04-21 18:36

I loved this game, quite interesting and innovating gameplay ! Great level design too ! Congratulations for what you managed to do in such a short time !

thomas-bringer 2020-04-21 19:00

@fabrizio-spadaro @dedicave @finntastico @framboisedodue Thank you so much everyone for your feedback! Glad you liked it overall :)

@finntastico That's funny cause when I started developing the game you couldn't move before choosing which tree to keep but I decided to change that because it felt weird not to be able to move in the beginning. And yeah agree that the movement could be polished. :)

duck-reaction 2020-04-21 19:24

What a huge amount of work of one guy in 48 hours ! It was really fun to play. Could be a commercial game. The soundtrack is too repetitive but your game still awesome.

thomas-bringer 2020-04-21 20:28

@duck-reaction Thanks a lot! I indeed worked very hard last weekend haha. And yeah music was probably too repetitive, agree on that :)

bereg 2020-04-21 22:47

That one is my favorite so far. Great idea, nice graphics and a lot (A LOT) of cleverly designed levels! I enjoyed playing this game.

greon 2020-04-22 05:57

That game has an very good art, the puzzles are very well made, you did an nice job for 48 hours, and for some reason the story got me in, i'd love to see an end to it haha. if the player could move faster the game would me even more enjoyable, but well done, that was a great work, keep on with it!

thomas-bringer 2020-04-22 07:47

@bereg @greon Thank you so much for playing and sharing your opinion! Glad you liked it :)

jin9310 2020-04-30 20:36

Game with this title just can not be bad! This is really awesome in fact. Amazing what you have created and I must confess that I got stuck in one level, but I hope/believe it was the last one! :D Nevertheless, great job! Love it

@jin9310 Thanks a lot! So glad you liked it! :)

Nice game, I loved the idea and it was well developed. I like the way you set up the levels but I think you could have added ssome sound effects.

notan-lemon 2020-05-10 10:41

This is nice! I love the art style, and the animation is really funny. Almost everything is green and sometimes it is hard to find out where I can go, but other than that it looks good. Also the design of mazes is great. You made full use of 3d space. I love the level where I walk over a top of a tree first and cut it down later to walk through it. Good job!

lythom 2020-05-10 11:31

Nice game! There a lot of puzzles for a game jam entry and they are very qualitative! I think the story part is a bit naive and could be written in a more powerfull way with the same "whoose you destiny" topic, maybe try to be a bit more deductive and a bit less descriptive. I'd say take inspiration from the level design and reuse that same skill, since the LD work very well with that "discover and quess the pieces" aspect. I've not be carried by the aesthetic also, yet it's still very acceptable for a jam entry (and even more considering the overall other content). Overall, a very neat game that I enjoyed playing! Thanks for the game!

f1krazy 2020-05-10 13:49

This is great! I was amazed at how many levels you managed to cram into this, and how complex some of them were. You really had me racking my brains! The game's mechanics are simple but flexible, and utilized in pretty much every way possible, and the result is a surprising amount of variety and challenge. The graphics have a lot of charm to them, as does the story.

My only complaints are relatively minor. The music got a little repetitive after a while, especially since it doesn't loop very smoothly, and if there's a long straight area, it's a pain to have to press the appropriate arrow key several times, and wait for the jumping animation to finish between each press.

Overall, though, this is a really impressive entry, especially for a Compo game. It actually feels like a fully-finished, standalone game. Great job!

magus24 2020-05-10 20:41

really fun, I liked the graphics and the music goes well, but what stands out the most is the puzzle design, great entry Captura.PNG

thomas-bringer 2020-05-12 11:03

@elysiagriffin Thank you so much for playing! :)

@shaubbyplayz Glad you liked it! Yeah it definitely lacks some sfx.

@notan-lemon Thanks a lot! Yeah I didn't realized that everything was so green while I was working on the game...

@lythom Thank you so much for your feedback! Very interesting criticism here :)

@f1krazy Thanks a lot! Yeah the audio & controls are definitely two major issues.

@magus24 Thank you!

thedancingyouth 2020-05-12 15:21

Wow, this is so great. I love this game so much. This is incredible how many interesting levels you designed and created. Amazing how you interpreted theme. This game looks such surreal but the message in it is pretty clear. Dialogues are a big part of the atmosphere in this games. I agree with the point that the sound loop is a bit short, would love to hear an extended version of this, but that iteration makes the game experience more surreal, I especially like that moment when the music stops, it has something off and dark about it. I enjoyed playing this game very much.

Hands down, imo, brilliant submission.

@thedancingyouth Wow, thank you so much! Glad you liked it :)

fabula-rasa 2020-05-12 16:14

It's a pretty cool puzzle game! I liked the music and the low-poly blocky art. Colors are just great and the bouncy quality of the whole world is adorable.

The setup is very corny but that doesn't matter much :laughing: Some additional sound effects would flesh out the world even more.

The only thing I wish is that the character would keep moving when we keep the button pressed, so you don't have to pres and press when you want to move the same direction for a longer stretch.

Very impressive compo submission!

fatpenguin 2020-05-12 18:13

A sweet little puzzle game; I like it, really good for a compo! I found the idea and your interpretation of the topic awesome! To actually choose one object amongst many that wouldn't turn into an obstacle, brilliant; choosing the "lesser evil" so to say :D Would have liked it if the boy was slightly faster, also if I keep the button pressed he should continue to walk, how you did it can feel a bit tedious after a while. Also the intro was a little long for my taste and the text arrangement made it weird to look at while my focus was actually with the visual action. Like I have to read, but also wanna see the characters (but even Bethesda does that, so yeah might just be personal preference.. ^^) The grahics looked great and the coours and lighting were very pleasant to the eye :) Music and sound were fitting and the mood was therefore good! Btw, for the love of godzilla, I wasn't able to figure out this level:

Good job and congrats on finishing your compo game! :)

thomas-bringer 2020-05-12 19:09

@fabula-rasa Thanks a lot for commenting! Yeah I definitely agree that the lack of sfx + player controls are major issues.

@fatpenguin Thank you so much for your feedback! I agree that player movement is not the best. For the intro I chose to focus on the character who's talking just because for me it was the fastest solution, but yeah, I wish I had the time to make a small picture of the character who's talking :) Also solution of this level: 1. Go on the top of the tree next to the axe (the second tree). 2. Choose to keep the tree on the right (the one next to the house). 3. Your player will fall and you should be able to walk to the house!
