I like the game and the art style. Blocky and simple. You may want to work on how you control your character. The character isn't rotating with movement. Character animation and control is Unity3D is hard, but there are many tutorials.

Simple but I cracked a smile when saw the farmers xD Good Job)

The graphics is so good. The gameplay idea is okay, but I would have liked a bit more to do. Overall a fine LD game.

Nice game! Graphics is cool, and gameplay is pretty simple and fun, although i do not fully understand why I have to sacrifice animals to the yellow rotating cube :)

yuriaicruz 2018-12-03 22:10

Very good game, all praises to the yellow cube

I like the animations and voxel characters

Really nice presentation, bouncy animations were hilarious and the bunch of angry farmers too. Is there any way to get around them though? They always end up getting me when they come in a bunch! Congrats on the release!

xenop 2018-12-04 15:59

@oceanosaurus be fast or lure them in the fenced area's so you can go around them :P but yeah wanted to add a mechanic for that but Ludum dare, time constrains :)

You mention this was your first LD, so I guess you were a little over ambitious? To the poster above talking about player rotation - the player does rotate, but its to the mouse pointer, not to move direction.

This was really hard - too hard for me to fairly evaluate it, as I never managed to get more than one animal returned before a game over. If you were going to continue working on this after the jam - and you might want to, theres a good idea here at its base, and I liked the aesthetic - here are some suggestions for tweaks to make.

* have a health bar instead of one hit game overs * adjust your time limits based on how many different animals you have to collect, as you can only carry one at a time - due to the back-and-forthing, you need way more time to get 2 animals than one * your map is based on 'bottleneck' areas, which wouldn't in itself be a problem, but when you have a phalanx of enemy farmers (theres like, 10 spawned at the start of the game?) that home in on you and are insta-death on touch, the only gameplay option is to wait for them all to enter the same 'room' as you, then kite them away from the exit so you can get through - all of which eats up valuable time. Having two different corridors into each 'room' would help with that, as would having a more open map in general * Maybe ramp everything up a lot more slowly; like, start with only one farmer chasing you, and add a new one for each successful animal you sacrifice? Start with a really generous time limit, then give bonus time extensions with each drop off?

Hopefully you don't feel any of the above is unnecessarily harsh, believe me, I totally get how those compo time limits hit you, and your entry is probably better than my first LD entry!

@mrnyarlathotep love your comment. I can work with this. And to say I almost completely agree on all of your points. Maybe the health bar not really but yeah, I then needed to give the player more breathing room to walk. Thanks a lot for your comment. I don't take it harsh, its good advice ! :)

Lovely little game, cute too! I wish there was more animals though, because it gets very difficult to find any even though it's supposedly your farm, I mean, you should know where they are xD Well done!

jihem 2018-12-04 21:19

Nice. This @# farmers didn't let me do the sacrifice. It took me 4 tries to catch a single cow and get it back to the god.

zanagi 2018-12-06 05:44

At the start I really had a lot of troubles finding any animals at all. Would've liked to hear/see animal sounds, maybe set the volume/effect size relative to distance? Nice game nevertheless.

papabirb 2018-12-06 13:35

Dying didn't seem to matter much as it appeared to keep where I was at, not sure though. It was difficult to find the animals, but I love how goofy the farms looked. The footsteps of the player were rhythmic enough to almost be a soundtrack, I liked the sound effect in general too.

xenop 2018-12-06 16:14

@papabirb thx. To be honest there is a bug, on restart the list is not cleared properly.

sokette 2018-12-07 22:47

Hmmmm, the game ends up being luck-based, since you have limited time and you can't visit all the pens in time. Maybe I missed some hints about their location ? Also the movement fels really wonky.

Other than that the graphics were pretty cool, I really liked the models

sebastian-m 2018-12-09 00:30

You have revicido very good comments, I hope you take advantage of them. Especially from mrnyarlathotep. I congratulate you is a very good first entry.

cdunham 2018-12-09 00:50

Pretty impressive for your first Ludum Dare! The AI seems to spawn pretty fast and they're able to corner the player pretty easily. It'd be nice if there was a way to deter them or make it easier to avoid them somehow. Also the player being a one hit kill makes the game pretty hard.

xenop 2018-12-10 07:14

@sebastian-m I will for the next ludum dare or project ! :) very happy about them, and @cdunham yeah I know right. To be fair, time cornered me too and before I knew it, it was submission time :P haha
