LD37 — One room

Wow, I love this! It was good fun figuring out how to edit numbers. Once I had generally figured it out, it wasn't _as_ interesting (perhaps different mechanics could be introduced over time).

Visually stunning too, shows what's possible with minimalism.

Besides being in a circle there isn't much in the way of the theme here.

The little dialogue at the start was fun.

Overall very good!

Principle of Locality by relick 2016-12-12T17:40:00

Yup timgarbos, I feel the same way about the purple blocks. Intended to have some other things instead for a couple levels that weren't controlled by the mouse, but I couldn't get them to work in the 48h unfortunately.

Thanks everyone for the ratings so far!

Slimy Throne Room by Sirnic 2016-12-12T16:11:00

Graphics are good, controlled well, music isn't annoying and puzzle 5 was nicely difficult.

Main complaint is lack of theme, but otherwise this is good!

Yuletide Bouquet by Kurai 2016-12-12T15:33:00

The graphics are really great. SFX aren't the best but at least there are some.

Unfortunately I really can't get a feel for this. It took half an hour before any 'nice thing' even popped up, and otherwise it's just a burning log simulator which isn't fun per se, and I've never felt that they put me in a nice mood like a real log fire does.

Seriously tho, it does look really nice so well done on that end.

Room 007 by Lancelot Gao 2016-12-12T15:44:00

Other than the whistle sounds (although you worked with what you had available) this was pretty cool. Graphics are neat and pretty, the explosions were cool and the puzzles were quick and fun.

Nice job!

OneRoom by Danman9914 2016-12-12T18:17:00

Cool game. Not entirely sure what happened in the very last part but I really liked how real the room felt.

Great use of the theme too.

Network of the Trapped by MikeTheWayne 2016-12-21T13:26:00

I can only guess that the game is unfinished, which is a shame because it's a nice concept. I tried several things. One was unlocking everything, although the virtual existence pods simply wouldn't even let me attempt them. I also tried to just make as much money as possible but no matter what my advert and data settings were I couldn't make any money. Was 10k in debt (with it to continue to go down at the cost of my 2 servers) despite having 200 current users and 400 total, and 16h usage time.

The room graphics are great, but the text being green on black gave me a headache after playing the typing game for to long. Otherwise it's a great concept and if you can fix it up then I'll definitely give it another play after ludum dare is over!

oops forgot to rate (does anyone know how to rate without leaving a comment?

One Room for No One Anymore by pokepetter 2016-12-12T16:48:00

The painting is pretty but I don't really feel like the story was long enough to be engaging.

Bubble Tea Cafe by urfbound 2016-12-21T12:07:00

Hooray for your second jam! I agree with the rest of the commenters, it feels pretty basic. However, my main gripes are with the controls - at first I tried using my gamepad which made the game stutter and unplayable. I switched to keyboard and the paddle was too slow to catch the ball most of the time. Or it was just that the blocks are too close to the paddle. With a couple of improvements this could be a neat little breakout game, but then, of course, it's just a breakout game.

Good effort nonetheless!

Speed Equals Size by Squatch 2016-12-21T11:11:00

Tried playing on windows 10, couldn't place bombs on the blocks so didn't get past level 2. Wonder what the problem is...

Room is a Relative Term by qualia 2017-01-02T20:44:00

Thought the graphics were okay, was a little tricky to figure out what was going on at first - what was most confusing was the paths around the edge, I thought they were just part of the background.

It was tough, but fun. I think perhaps the difficulty could've been eased up a little bit (less switches? more clarity on which switches do what?) but this level would be good as one of the final ones in a string of levels.

Bearing in mind the limitations of PuzzleScript it's a pretty decent game, but as the post-compo game shows, there's plenty to be improved upon compared to the entry. Good job nonetheless!

Kitchen Invasion! by zinexo 2016-12-12T17:50:00

Haha, this was pretty cool and funny. The sound was good and the graphics are clean.

In terms of flaws, I feel like the purple orbs disappear a bit too quickly. Zombies also sometimes walked backwards.

Good job!

Time Loop Traffic by _for_science 2022-10-06T12:29:01Z

Probably the best game I played this jam, great concept executed really well with good graphics and sound. Awesome work!

A-Maze-ing Adventure by Vodzik 2022-10-05T23:18:12Z

Atmosphere is intense, but it's very hard and the 10 second change means it's hard to actually get anywhere. Possibly having more guidance about where to go despite the changing labyrinth would've been a good improvement, but I quite liked the sound design and the graphics worked well :)

Gun Dude by blaster391 2022-10-05T20:04:36Z

I liked the leaderboard, but I couldn't really understand what contributed to score. I guess speed and precision? In any case, the 10 second limit + the precision requirements made this feel like a neat puzzle game to me rather than a fast paced shooter - taking my time with each kill made levels a lot easier. The sound design was very nice, I liked how smoothly it changed with each kill especially. In any case, I think the concept is cool, with a big dose of polish on the graphics and controls it could be very addictive!

KindergARTen by benskca 2022-10-05T21:06:29Z

Neat use of theme and overall well made and polished. The "copy the image" minigame concept is a pretty common one but it's always good fun.

BABY ROOM by pfs 2022-10-05T22:55:31Z

Cuuuute game. I'm not very good at these kind of hectic games but it has good design, controls, and graphics. Could easily be expanded into a full game without needing much changed! Nice work.

Deca-second by aa4z2 2022-10-05T18:58:30Z

I like the concept, but it feels like it could've done with an ounce more polish (e.g. a rotating clock instead of player would go a long way to make the controls easier). It took me quite a while to work out what to do and then once I had, the random movement of the enemies made some levels very quick and some levels achingly slow - but I didn't feel I had any control over that. That said, the stacking music was a neat idea, and once it gets going it is quite fun!

ANIMAL HOLE by ben_throop 2022-10-05T19:41:42Z

Funny game! Very catchy. Not much to give feedback on but the singing was on point!

Ťɦȩ Ɽḗḋ ꓤⴃὄⴅ by jaybaus 2022-10-05T20:19:41Z

Ahhh I love escape rooms! This one's pretty interesting - I think it probably took me about the same amount of time to beat as if there had been no time loop, but the loop allowed you to have fun with the ways in which clues were revealed, which was cool! Generally, I think the graphics were a little dark but the 'warp' effect was a nice touch. I think music would've been great but the ticking sound was plenty to at least set the mood. Very nice :)

HURTEC by Trexxak 2022-10-05T21:33:24Z

I quite enjoyed the button smashing, I think I would've preferred it if that just kept on going though rather than bringing in the binary mechanic! The binary mechanic kind of brought everything to a crawl and at first I wasn't even sure what I was meant to do. Besides that I agree with others that it was hard to tell who I was vs enemies, but otherwise there's a fun little game here, good job :)

Sailing through life by Chase of Bass 2022-10-06T13:31:22Z

It was quite long for what it was, but it's a nice little experiment :). Audio looped perfectly for me btw!

Schrodinger's Afterlife by JosephWalker 2022-10-05T17:52:32Z

Cute game! I really like the music. It took me a bit long to realise the platforms weren't on a timer but were switching when I jumped. The last level was quite fiddly but it wasn't too hard. The only thing I was hoping was that the last screen let you choose which music to jam to!

📺 You Call The Shots! by Choo 2022-10-05T20:33:44Z

Pretty zany, reminds me of old quiz games in a way, and I enjoyed it. I did find it very hard, though, mostly just my lack of movie knowledge! Nice game :)

Perihelion by Fuse in a Bowl 2022-10-04T12:43:51Z

Really neat small game, very easy to understand each concept straight away. I really liked the graphics and the overall tone, though the controls were a little fiddly - I seemed to slip off ledges and miss jumps when I wasn't expecting. In any case, really nice! Got 2 minutes with all collectibles :)

Another LAST 10 seconds by Serxiolas 2022-10-06T12:39:39Z

Nice effort on the sound effects, it evokes quite an intense feeling.

Split-Second Darkness by Edtg 2022-10-05T22:48:12Z

Very cool! I got stuck at the end because it seemed like they wouldn't move unless I was within death range, making it impossible to reach the buttons, but honestly the concept as a whole came out really well. Good job on the art and the sound :)
