Good looking, highly polished, no bugs, multiple levels, enjoyable difficulty level. I didn't expect anything less  :muscle_tone4:

You would've gotten bonus points for lemmings-like spectacular deaths and failings. But I guess that kind of polish is just too much for 48 hours.

xesenix 2018-12-03 03:10

Really nice game a lot of levels but I think there could be some kind of noticeable consequences for leaving to many golems behind now it's enough that one reaches the end of level it would be much more interesting if more needed to reach end. Also best game I saw to this moment in terms of graphic + gameplay.

jeroenpx 2018-12-03 10:14

Thanks for the nice words! @bart-huylebroeck Spectacular failings would have been fun indeed. :) I will keep that in mind.

@xesenix Yeah, I ran out of time... :) My idea was to show 1 to 3 stars at the end of each level depending on how many reached the end. 3 stars would mean everyone that could got to the end. Maybe I can still add that at some point...

atium-addict 2018-12-03 14:51

Great puzzle mechanics, very thoughtful level design and very balanced progression! I really racked my brain to find something to criticize and I couldn't find anything other than the lack of sound, which is understandable given the time constraints and the work you obviously put into the existing game elements. 5/5

arkiruthis 2018-12-03 16:23

Very VERY slick and polished production. Some great teasers in the level design too. Maybe a post-comp version with sound/music would complete the ensemble. Very nice work.

piczkabobra 2018-12-03 16:33

wow graphic is just amazing! but sometimes it's hard to click on button just in time :c

stevenjmiller 2018-12-03 16:40

Great game, I especially enjoyed the last level. I would love an extended version with audio and possibly an option to speed up the movement for when you've finished modifying the instruction tiles.

momo 2018-12-03 16:58

nice game

jeroenpx 2018-12-03 19:32

@atium-addict Sound is indeed one of the things I had to sacrifice. :smirk:

@arkiruthis @stevenjmiller I have some interesting ideas for levels still so I might just do that...

@stevenjmiller @piczkabobra Some good feedback, thanks.

@momo Thanks

jharler 2018-12-03 20:19

I'm very impressed with the polish on what you have here. The visuals are stunning. The animation and particle effects are spot on. Very nice work! The level designs are good too. At first I was confused as I thought you could only have one golem per exit slot, but then I tried it and it was fine. Overall, very good entry!

fede 2018-12-04 15:17

Nice mechanics! I enjoyed playing this game.

wegpast 2018-12-04 20:18

Great game ! I like its atmosphere ! Nice level design too !

madrededios 2018-12-04 21:07

Hey that's a nice game! Cool mechanics and quite plenty of them!

2018-12-05 00:49

A bit slow, but good game. I included it in my compilation video series of games from the Ludum Dare, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/qbVCRHP5Rcg

velvetlobster 2018-12-05 02:55

Complex mechanics, nice work! This can become a good puzzle game, there are already some nice puzzles in there

arvejeitor 2018-12-06 13:29

Very good work! loved the graphic style

sokette 2018-12-07 22:42

Wow, nice game, nicely balanced and pretty satisfaying level design :O

jeroenpx 2018-12-09 11:16

@jharler @fede @wegpast @madrededios @velvetlobster @arvejeitor @sokette Thanks!! Nice to hear you enjoyed the game! It had a lot of fun making it!

@jharler You are not the only one who thought there is a limitation on the exits, I have heard that before. I'll see if I can do something about that...

@jupiter-hadley Yes, the first levels are a bit slow. I did not realize how slow until I watched the recording. The speed gets better near the end I think, till at some moment it goes almost too fast (as @piczkabobra noticed ). But yes, I think I will follow @stevenjmiller his proposal and add a speed up button in a future version of the game. The more I think about it, the more I think that is a good idea.

bloodjohn 2018-12-09 13:26

Love graphics! Simple, but cute.

zachz 2018-12-09 13:56

Simple, but well polished, and I love the graphics, especially the wavy grid. I liked your font choice too, it's something small, but small things like that are always a nice cherry on top.

harksa 2018-12-09 14:16

It's a nice little game ! I hope you'll update it and put different possible paths, that'd be really neat !

arkinrev 2018-12-09 16:36

I really liked the look of the game, and enjoyed the look of golems trapped in ice. Some sort of 1-3 star (or ice cube) rating for getting a certain number of Golems through would be great. I could never tell how well I was doing. I really like the programmed move aspect, that worked well. Nice work!

esosek 2018-12-09 16:39

Oh boy, this is so good for a compo game. Graphics and overall look is so great. Idea is original, puzzles are challenging but not impossible. I miss some kind of music and sound, it would be perfect with it. One thing that suprised me was that after freezing a golem, the circle reseted. That was a little bit unintuitive. Great game and keep it up! :)

meldrian 2018-12-09 19:09

You did this in just one Ludum Dare Session? Amazing. It look really awesome and plays very well. Had to be very quick some times but i guess thats the point, huh? ;) Good Work.

jeroenpx 2018-12-09 21:47

@bloodjohn Thanks!

jeroenpx 2018-12-09 21:49

@zachz Interesting you mention the wavy grid. Nice to know it makes a difference!

When I was working on the wavy grid I was quite conflicted about it since it took more time than I expected, I was more than 24 hours in and the golems were not even moving yet. Aaaaah! I thought, what am I doing spending time on this?!?

jeroenpx 2018-12-09 22:00

@harksa Thanks. How would you see those multiple paths? There are already some levels with multiple possible solutions.

Unrelated, but when thinking about it, I just realized I made a level during the compo and forgot to include it. :frowning: ForgottenLevelSmall.PNG

jeroenpx 2018-12-09 22:03

@arkinrev Thanks! I was a bit doubtful if I could make a convincing ice cube but it actually came out nicely...

"Star score" was on the list but it did not make it in time... I didn't think of using ice cubes for it though, that could be cool.

jeroenpx 2018-12-09 22:13

@esosek Haha, yes, the ice circle resetting automatically is a bit unintuitive. In my mind it made sense when I implemented it but it is indeed really inconsistent.

Music and sound would have been really nice but I don't really have any experience with making music. It will take me some time learning that.

jeroenpx 2018-12-09 22:20

@meldrian All code, graphics, levels, ... were made during the compo. Those were some really crazy 48 hours but they were lots of fun!

Having to be a bit fast was indeed part of the idea. I thought it would be fun to make it a puzzle game with a bit of action.

xphere 2018-12-09 22:59

Nice puzzler! The difficuly curve makes a big leap in the last level, but it's rewarding. Liked the graphics and puzzle design. Good job!

jfraser314 2018-12-11 17:48

Nice lemmings style puzzler. It took me a few minutes to get started, then once I was going I really liked it. I wish there was a little more affirmation upon finishing the level, but I definitely understand not working it into the project with the time constraints.

harksa 2018-12-11 21:34

@jeroenpx Well, if there was some levels with multiple solutions, I guess I just couldn't see them, then :stuck_out_tongue: I think of them looked like there was multiple solutions, but one looked undoable from the beggining (actually the level from the gif above)

fre 2018-12-16 00:53

This game is great and especially impressive given the compo constraints!

I liked the small animated details and use of multiple point lights. The tilt shift effect is a bit strong for my taste, but hey, gotta make use of the post-processing stack :)

Thanks also for sharing the making-of guide, I found it very interesting!

2018-12-16 21:10

Simple enough game, fun concept. But without sound I feel like i'm missing 50% of the experience. Its also not very hard.

lucecyl 2018-12-17 22:26

Nice concept, and great use of the theme. The game is fun, and have a good and simple mechanic. I just think maybe, would be good if you could see every turn point on the screen, because the player already has his attention on golens, and have to grab the screen to move.. i don`t know...
