LD38 — A Small World

Planet Desumaton by SiegfriedCroes 2017-05-02T20:04:20Z

I love the theme, I love the silly graphics, the game was very difficult but not frustrating. I also would've preferred to see my own health.

Shrinky Planet by MrDeadpuddle 2017-05-16T09:27:42Z

I also have no friend to play this with, but it looks like a lot of fun. Waiting for a lan party :-)

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Snaketris by Yngvarr 2017-12-07T14:08:54Z

Lovely idea, so simple and elegant! The controls felt a bit stiff and awkward, probably due to low framerate. The two game mechanics work really well together, and I imagine there could be lots of yelling between two "coop" friends :)

Sea Wars: Piratefront by Ogniok 2017-12-04T23:39:37Z

Super polished game! I love the graphics, the idea, the music, the animations, it all combines to make a super game! I found myself trying over and over again. My perhaps only critique is a very minor nitpick, in that having a lot of lootboxes doesn't seem to make things very much worse. I would've expected the ship to run or turn noticable slower, but I didn't feel very handicapped. It was simply a bit difficult (and out of my control, mostly) to keep the lootboxes on the ship.

I found that the best tactic was to simply destroy ships within a limited radius and not care about the loot. That, about 30 seconds before the end of the day, start picking up all that loot drifting in the sea :)

Catastrophic Cities by Drauthius 2017-12-06T23:42:34Z

I was able to get past turn 30. Things seemed mostly under control. People really seemed to like playing with fire in my city, most of my budget needed to go there! :)

I was unsure if the location of my buildings played any role. It was annoying to see that my second fire department was built practically next to the first one. I also don't know whether to prioritize building new buildings, or simply spending the money on the departments as they were.

I did see a relation between my spending on each of the 4 factors: I was able to keep crime, unemployment, and health at a very low number and I was still making a profit. So I think the balance was not too bad, but I would've liked a bit more feedback. Every sim player loves graphs :)

Also, nice graphics!

SheepMotion by fastpath 2017-12-06T22:11:38Z

Unlike @lekiy and @alext_design, I had a fun and relaxing time driving the sheep. I finished the third level. The art was really nice, the sound was functional and added to the experience. The dogs were easy to control. The camera was not always helpful: it focused on one dog only (I guess he was the alpha dog), and at times it simply showed me a tree and no sheepdogs at all. I would've appreciated the ability to scroll the camera, for example using WSAD. Some colliders seemed a bit wrong, and the in level3 pathfinding was a bit strange: sheepdog were running around a tree stump the long way, even though there was a clearly shorter path. For game readability, I think it would've been better if you marked the grassland zone and the "home" zone more clearly, for example using colors or using the fences.

For a minute, I thought the third level was an impossible assignment because more and more sheep were spawning. It was a lot of fun running the dogs through the pack of sheep :)

Did I mention beautiful art?

The band of explorers by johnnygoy 2017-12-04T22:49:25Z

Seems you have a concept similar to our idea, but you took it the exact opposite way :) It was very interesting to watch your game! I loved the pixel art, the little nazis were really cool to look at. It's funny to watch them splatter to their death. The blood splatters are done well. The nazis do seem a bit too likely to die, mostly because your level is fiendishly difficult.

Keep them under control!!! by ArturasD 2017-12-06T21:08:22Z

Frantic games like this are generally not my type, but hats off to the solid design: it was clear what to do, there were no glitches, the link with the theme is also clear. The dragging felt very crip and responsive.

I would've preferred to see the stock numbers near their respective resource, and in the same vein I think it would've been better to place the fence buttons closer to their respective resource. Because I needed to keep my eyes focused on the minions (little tikes :)) I couldn't really figure out the GUI and I had no idea what my score was or when I was able to buy a fence.

If you'd made the first minion really slow, it would've allowed newer players to glance over the screen and figure it all out before things got really hectic.

Nice theme, nice graphics, fitting music!

Hungry Dino by nax_89 2017-12-06T22:31:56Z

Lovely graphics, wonderful puzzle platformer, tons of content. This is a game proper! The puzzles are well thought out. Only your menu was very unclear. I accidentally ended up in the editor and I couldn't make heads or tails out of it, because the text was so hard to read. With the help of the above comments, I restarted the game and figured out where to go.

I love the amount of design that went into the puzzles. I love that you have an editor!

Edit: I thought making the screenshake dependent on the dinosaur's size was a nice touch :)

The Perfect Halay by eusekerci 2017-12-06T20:54:50Z

Strangely fun to play, much more so than I expected from the description. The movement of the dancers is hypnothic and just the right mix of predictable and chaotic. I also would've liked to use the gamepad, or maybe even the mouse (although the mouse might have made movement too easy).

Although more dancers obviously make it harder to complete the halay, I feel the link with the theme is a bit far-fetched, so you lost some markings for me there.

I'm just bummed that after working so hard to make the halay, I got a zero score :)

Reverse Sushi by Papercookies 2017-12-07T13:49:04Z

original idea, fun easy concept that is quick to grasp.

The sick people are almost impossible to grab before they get eaten, the fish are too quick. Also, some fish seemed to glitch to the top left corner, no idea why.

Shallow but solid gameplay. Very nice graphics, too, they support the gameplay very well! The sound is the finishing touch :)

Hungry Mok and the Amulet of Food by Kornel 2017-12-07T14:57:38Z

I loved the art, loved the sound, the idea was really good. As many others, I also had trouble with the controls. Retracting the rope just the right amount was really difficult. I also died a few times where I'm not sure I hit anything at all.

Oh, and the intro gave the game a really luxurious feel :)

Love Potion #7.2 by realryanrogers 2017-12-04T22:59:21Z

Funny idea, good difficulty level. I didn't realize I could fart before the fartmeter was full, that cost me a few tries :) I would've loved to see ragdoll fysics on the people who got attached to me, but that's just eyecandy. More importantly, I needed a meter to know how many people could get attached to me before I got crushed.

Crawl Control by TristanF. 2017-12-04T23:14:42Z

@artengineer: There's an out-of-bounds trick? What happened? ;-)

Full disclosure: the music wasn't ours, but we loved how the chirpy chiptune fit the frantic pace of the dungeon crawl

Crawl Control by TristanF. 2017-12-04T23:42:37Z

Thanks @thomas-molby ! Yeah, the keyboard controls are a bit janky, we used them mostly for quick playtesting and we never thought to actually explain them properly.

Did you find the dash button? Did you find the easter egg that lets you multiply your crowd of followers? ;-)

Crawl Control by TristanF. 2017-12-06T23:13:22Z

Thanks, @lukuluk! Is there anything we could've done to make it more clear that the lava was... well.. deadly lava? :)

@megabrutal: the keyboard controls are really janky, we didn't test them a lot. Have you tried using the gamepad? It's possible to select the "infinite" level even with keyboard. Just press the buttons a bit longer.

Christmas Present by Jons games 2017-12-06T22:44:32Z

This seems like a fun and clever game, but I couldn't get it to work on MS Edge 41.16299.15.0: after finishing the first level, I get "click to continue", a second window pops up where I can move the santa, but the first window just keeps showing "click to continue" and that doesn't seem right. I tried using Chrome, but the popups keep getting bigger and bigger all by themselves. Also doesn't seem right.

Too bad, I would've loved trying this!

Christmas Present by Jons games 2017-12-06T22:54:11Z

@jons_games using Chrome 62.0.3202.94 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Windows 8.1

As I checked the version, Chrome updated to 63.0.3239.84 (Official Build) (64-bit) so I tested again, but still the popups grow in size.

Money Talks by Kyoute 2017-12-06T21:36:12Z

Very nice art, nice mix of drawing and pictures, they blend together quite well. There don't seem to be very big choices, probably because you were running out of time. Sure, the story was a litlte cliche, but it was also very evocative. And junie is very beautiful! :-)

You can be my artist any time!

Gladiator Monsters by BenBurgh 2017-12-04T23:13:31Z

Wonderful mechanic, it makes you really think about how to play. It was fun choosing the upgrades and finding out what they did, even if they weren't to my benefit. I felt the controls were not precise enough for a really engaging fight. Your colliders seemed a bit small: some gold I ran over, I didn't pick up. Not that I'm complaining :)

Immune Invasion by Chong Lee 2017-12-06T23:05:54Z

very creative, very beautiful, the heartbeat is very well done, the game is difficult but doable. I feel I won mostly because of luck with the random numbers rather than because of my own skill. Had to give top marks except for humor :)

Ricochet by Adam Coles 2017-12-04T23:57:34Z

The idea of ricochet as the theme for "the more you have, the worse it gets" is a really elegant design and it works beautifully. I love the twin stick genre, so I loved your game. it was responsive, difficulty level ramped up enough to allow me a little time to learn and then quickly get me into trouble. Well designed and balanced.

The game is fast enough that I would've liked a bit more overview. Instead of zooming out, maybe you could've tilted the camera a bit and make it look where I was aiming? I feel that would've been an excellen perspective.

This game sorely lacks sound, even if only a few bleeps and boops.

The capsule bad guys are a bit too standard programmer art in unity. I guess you didn't get around to making a model for them :)

Love the pace, love the idea of combining a hair-trigger bullet-spitting gun with the dangerous ricochet, and I love that the gun has enough recoil to push you back.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Stratospheric Aerosol Injection by LeviDSmith 2018-12-03T20:00:35Z

Simple, but solid gameplay! It was surprisingly difficult to get past level1. 2 turrets was just too much for me  I loved the idea of carpet bombing aerosol :)

Serpent's Souls by impbox 2018-12-02T23:54:51Z

Very intriguing game. I don't quite understand it all, but I was curious enough to continue playing. The cost and actions are all pretty complicated. I built 3 homes, a healing tent and a training hut but now my population seems to get sick quicker than I can heal them. I wish I could choose who to sacrifice so I can kill one of the sick people instead of losing a healthy person to the sacrifice

AI Flying Bomb by Bart Huylebroeck 2018-12-02T22:36:20Z

Thanks for the feedback! Did you try killing any of the turrets with a big sphere around them? They track and predict anything within the sphere :smile_cat:

Hmm, must look into that "GO" ui getting stuck

AI Flying Bomb by Bart Huylebroeck 2018-12-03T19:34:03Z

I see a trend here. Nobody likes the controls   Thanks for all the feedback!

Icy Golems by jeroenpx 2018-12-03T01:09:47Z

Good looking, highly polished, no bugs, multiple levels, enjoyable difficulty level. I didn't expect anything less  :muscle_tone4:

You would've gotten bonus points for lemmings-like spectacular deaths and failings. But I guess that kind of polish is just too much for 48 hours.

Zoe and the Polypantheon by Carraka 2018-12-17T05:34:48Z

super polished, very beautiful. The puzzles were very logical. I found endings A and C by myself, needed the walkthrough for ending B. I found the code after a few tries. The only thing I liked a little bit less was that finding shards was a little bit like pixel hunting, even though I did find all shards in the end. I loved the art and the music! The writing was also very good.

Claim The Climate by Redunca 2018-12-02T22:28:12Z

I loved the sounds, felt really bad clubbing those seals :speak_no_evil: I managed to install the harvester, but I wasn't sure what to do next?

43 and Me by Atium Addict 2018-12-02T23:19:17Z

The controls are simple and really snappy, that is a big bonus for a puzzle game. The mechanics and goals are not immediately super clear, but that's part of the enjoyment.

I regret that I can't try again with the exact same numbers if I fail. I would've liked to know whether that combination was possible at all

Contrary to @semichaut , I don't like the idea of the timer because sometimes I just need a lot of time to explore the numbers and their position. An alternative could be to simply keep track of the number of "moves" and save the lowest number of moves? Of course, that number of moves would only be valid for this specific puzzle with those generated numbers...

All in all, well done!

Shepards Island by Zhorky 2018-12-02T22:00:38Z

Relaxing gameplay, funny idea, nice animations. The buttons/mouse cursor don't alway react snappy, and the rotation seems a bit jerky in fullscreen web player.

No idea if there is a goal or what the maximum genetic mutation can be. After 10 minutes I didn't see anything new so I quit.

Appease the Gods by Fernando Tonon de Rossi 2018-12-02T23:00:20Z

I played your game because I HAD to play a game with King Julian  Simple concept, works well. A bit frantic for my taste.

Because the Volcano God angry meter moves in jumps, it's not always clear how close I am to gameover. Sometimes, the bar is less than half full, but because the jumps are x7, the game ends and I don't see the full bar.

Instead of making bigger jumps for the Volcano God, you should simply move the bar quicker. It will be easier to understand for the player that they're getting to the hard part of the game.

Alain's Sacrifice by Daniel_Abeleira 2018-12-02T22:54:18Z

The control scheme is a bit funky, and your instructions fail to mention space for jumps. That cost me a few tries :gem:

Gameplay is not varied. Best way to play is to move slowly and spam the "fire" button. :smirk:

The game would communicate better if the enemies had a "being hit" animation. That way, I would've known that I just to hit the shield guy several times. Just like @johnsensei I tried jumping over them until I realised I just had to hit them more often. Is it possible at all to jump over a character without getting hit?

But the character can be moved with precision, the graphics are actually pretty good, and no weird glitches. A proper game with an actual prologue and an epilogue :v:

Running Wild by Jannick Larsen 2018-12-02T23:58:42Z

no link (yet) ? Be sure to publish as HTML5, it makes it sooo much easier to test play! I was intrigued by your description because it reminded me of a game we made in an earlier LD.

Running Wild by Jannick Larsen 2018-12-03T01:18:18Z

Brilliant game, funny deaths! Blood and gore are always a plus. Also, good tutorial and buildup of difficulty. I laughed out loud when I stupidly walked into a trap.

Yes, next functionality would definitely be a save feature or checkpoints, but I understands that's difficult to implement, especially in a 48 hour compo

Brick Climb by Funkyjive 2018-12-07T15:31:46Z

I like the idea, even if I typically don't like frantic clicking games. What if you made the playing field only move if one of the bots move? That would give me time to consider my next move :) Easy to pick up, but difficult to master, as much action puzzles should aspire to be. I agree with the others this would work well on mobile, especially since your playing field is vertical.

Rablat by Sodaro 2018-12-03T20:13:07Z

Nice, good atmosphere. Controls worked really well. The point-and-click was just the right difficulty for me, although I didn't see the need for repetition.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Birdy Bombardier by WietseVB 2019-04-30T08:50:43Z

A vertical scrolling shooter, my favorite genre! :-) The second level seemed easier than the first, because the snakes moved less horizontally. I would've liked an auto-fire option. Or auto-poop... eh...

Squishies by jeroenpx 2019-04-30T08:48:52Z

Looks wonderfully squishy! I can see some Lemmings-like puzzles happening. I think deconstructing squishies would've destroyed the puzzle-aspect, but I expected squishies to be able to jump on top of each other..

Instead of buttons on the screen, I would've preferred left mouse button vs right mouse button. (I realise this doesn't work on a phone :-P )

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

KRANT by pepnou 2022-04-09T16:48:50Z

Saw the game on Elysia's twitch, and I like the idea! The environment is great and there's a lot of work that went into creating the modules. Well done! Like Elysia, an audible clue that something is getting worse and worse could help.

If you would supply a printable PDF of the manual, this game would be an instant couch-coop game where 1 person is the operator and all others can read the manual and shout instructions. Instant fun :)
