I really like the idea of this game. I did find the outcomes of a fair few of the questions a little confusing, especially around how various answers impacted the carbon footprint metric. Also, when I first started playing I thought the button presses weren't working so I pressed the other buttons to try too, only to then realise there's just a delay before the button presses go through. It probably makes sense to disable buttons or show some other sort of visual indication in situations like that to not confuse the player. Overall good game :)

Good job! I'm something of an ecohead myself so this game is very relatable. Liked it a lot, I'll give it another go)

@me4502 Thank you for your feedback! Will try to make the carbon footprint more transparent if we ever decide to iterate on it. And showing the buttons disabled is an easy fix, its honestly a shame we didn't think of implementing it.

@mortiss Thank you for playing and we're glad you liked it.

I'm a big fan of the Reigns. Love to play a similar game.

I think you executed very well on a (necessarily, as you only had such a short amount of time) small idea! One improvement that could be made would be to make the sound not depend on the game tick - I feel like that's what is happening with the beeping sounds, right?

Anyway, an important topic to talk about, and quite fun to play! Maybe not for 365 days for me, though :-)

I think, carbon footprint is inverted in relation to other parameters — it's "bad" to the top, "good" to the bottom, can be confusing at start. Maybe you should flip it for consistency.

Also, it's hard to imagine what's wrong with high health or high happiness) Or low carbon footprint.

@tom-kaiser the mistimed beats of the song was due to our inexperience with the music software, we basically had to rush to put it out. Although I'm you enjoyed the game.

@mortiss that is a fair point I think we focused to much on the wording of "low" carbon footprint. Also unlike Reigns, you don't actually get a game over with having high health or happiness.

My funloving impulses led to me immediately draining my money down to 0. I could still clearly see this was going to happen, but decided to play it "realistically" and that's where my first round ended up :p Very satisfying UI movements tied to the decisions, impressive polish, and a laudable concept- Nice entry, especially for your team's first game! Great job :)

I like the game, and the concept. Very interesting. GG

The idea is so cool! I like the variety of things you need to manage such as money while still having an eco friendly theme.

Fun idea! I do wish there was more feedback on how exactly the choices affect each gauge. I could see that they were glowing when affected, but seeing something like '-3' could have been helpful. Also, the aesthetics of the game are simple, but nice. Overall nice job!

triastase 2022-04-21 17:38

I like the idea of having to balance financial, ecological and personal aspects of these kinds of choices in a game, because I tend to think that that's the best we can do about the climate crisis on a personal level. Despite the mechanics being relatively simple, I think that you executed it well!

The amount of content (as in texts) is also quite impressive for a game jam. Which is great, but at least for the playtesters here the effort might be spent better on additional mechanics - instead of more days, e.g.

Overall, well done!

I always impressive of that king of game. I think I will never be able to do one ever.

angelicad 2022-04-21 18:42

Nice game! I thought the concept of corporations pushing personal choice instead of taking responsibility came through really well.
