@jfraser314 the game required a lot of programming and i'm not a programmer myself, a lot of code is buggy or ineficient. Thanks for your feedback i appreciate it :-D
Thanks for your feedback @Sibi !! Yeah, on the original design each type of media would take a different time to complete and your followers would react in different ways (also penalizing repetition), but i had to cut the feature for the lack of time. And the increasing speed is intentional, the reduction time between hashtags is directly proportional to the number of followers that you have when the game "ticks". So the more followers you have, the more demanding they become and you must react faster or use the wildcards.
Thanks @sgadrat that was my focus on the development :-). The money you got it's relative to the followers you got and also the money detracted in each tick, so you must increase your followers to survive in the very long run. But it's not well balanced nor properly explained so i understand your confusion.
Thanks for all the feedback that you are sending guys, i really appreciate it. It's pretty obvious that the execution is the worst part of the game and i need to improve my programming skills for the next compo. Ludum Dare is a good tool to keep iterating your skills and i will keep doing so :-)
Thank you @dj-depressive, I'll check that out and try to learn all i can for the next try :-)
Thanks for your feedback @conrad123 ! As i said, i'm a very bad programmer, some of the mechanics don't work because of that. You win money based on the followers you have and the money detrated by day increases by time and number of followers. The only method to gain enough money is keep increasing your followers, but that works against you. And yeah, the fact that the game works against you is intended and related to the theme of the LD, but obvously the execution on my part was very poor. Something to improve for the next ludum dare i guess :)
Thanks for your sincere feedback, i really apreciate it :D
Thanks @sunnray ! In fact, both answers are correct. If your mood is low enough OR your followers are becoming a huge group of morons, the phrases change to show that and put more pressure on you :)
Thanks @raphael ! 1) mmmm, that's strange. "Silly" was de correct mood for that hashtag, maybe you encountered a bug or push the button on the exact milisecond when the hashtag disappear. 2) Yeah, that's intended. The time between hashtags start at 4 seconds and is becoming more quick related with your number of followers and the time that has passed. It can even reach 1 second! 3) Yeah, putting something that important in only one numerical value is dumb it a lot. That was the only solution that occurs to me in so little time. If I work on a more advanced version that is something that would change for sure.
Interesting little game. The tutorial was a bit tough to understand, the game explained itself better when you start playing. I tried some times but i couln't finish it, but liked what i saw.
Great entry to the compo. I feel bad for the poor fish. Me and my mouse hate you so hard right now :-P
Very nice game!! The jump is so good its really fun just keep jumping around like crazy. The camera trick really ads to the experience and could make a very good mechanic for a complete game if you want to keep on it some more. Overall pretty good game, more like this please :)
Great work, a lot of mechanics and content for a compo game. I didn't understand ar first that i must click on leave the planet and escort the freighter i thought that i was trading with the freighter and need to move to other planets (couldn't find one). At last, i understood the porpouse of the game. Maybe some clarification at the start would be cool. Great concept but as someone mentioned the fighter need some form of dodging to give the game a little more interest. Maybe if you could choose the next destination and have more combat options the game would be better. Also, the game crash from time to time when i click on Leave the planet, don't know why.
One of the best games that i tried in this compo. Very complete for a game made in 48 hours! The tutorial is superb and it explains the game perfectly. Every single room is packed with details that made it easy to identify from the distance. The characters are well defined and animated. You made a lot of things good in so short time. Awesome job.
The game is very difficult to understand. The graphics are very good and give the game a good feel. In some games the bunnies dissapeared but the game over screen didn't launch, so i got blocked. The game could improve a lot with some polishing and a proper tutorial level. Good work.
Great atmosphere and the story fits very well with the theme. As someone as mentioned, this game should be a jam entry as you used assets that are not yours not done on the 48 hour period. And the music is somethins that is very important for the core experience of your game. However i put high scores on Theme and Mood for the story and the fit with the theme. Good work.
It's a great game and fun to play. Very difficult to understand the controls and what you are supposed to do imho. Better clarification at the start or a tutorial explaining controls and porpouse and you got a pretty solid game. I don't understand how it fits with the theme, honestly.
Great use of theme here, you make a simple but very challenging game. As someone pointed out, it's very complicated to understand the mechanic at first and the sounds are very confusing. I think that if you make more visual feedback for the player when he fire the bullets it will be a little more satasfactory for him. Don't know if the use of the camera is the best here, maybe a zoom out when you fire and a slow motion to see if your bullets hit or not would be a good adition. However, very strong entry, one of the best that i have played for the compo.
The game stuck for me after the first "kid". It's difficult to understand what you are suppose to do at the start, but the game explains itself after some moments.
I played it and it's very interesting. Maybe the aproach for the theme is a bit obscure (or, at least, i couldn't grasp it), but the enviroment and the creatures are very well done. The analising/capturing mechanic is very well executed and it could be the base for a good game. Good work mate.
Impressive work! The game is pretty cool and the mechanics are well executed. I too get some trains of the rail and now i see is because they were too fast, some clarification in game would be awesome. With some polish this could be a very good game. Some more info on the trains power and cargo would make a good adition and a slower pace at the start so the player could understand better what he is suppose to do.
It seems that you manage to build a pretty decent game in so little time. The game is easy to understand the graphics and animations of the text keep it fresh. However, the game is not very related to the theme and some things detray from the experience. On the exams you put very difficult questions to progress and i get a bit frustrated, i didn't expect to need to remember my time on collage to play a ludum dare game :-P. Overall, pretty decent entry, good work.
Pretty cool concept and well executed. I expected to "win" when i reached the 42 milestone but the game still going after that mark. Not very difficult tho. The phrases that the character says adds to the atmosphere pretty good. Good work, keep going :)
It's very very difficult to understand the game at first and that you start so far of the virus doesn't help it. The idea is very interesting and it could be a good game with some work. Maybe something that help to find the virus, or a tutorial level with a little virus spreading slowly. The simple graphics works well but the sound could use more work. An interesting aproach, good work.
The basics are good and the game is simple enough to understand ir quickly. It may be a good mobile game if you polish the mechanics. With a little more feedback of the different stages of the creatures (a little hungry, very hungry, etc) so you could grasp a little better where to focus your efforts the game will become more enjoyable on the long run. Overall, very good work.
Interesting little game, i like how the red guys try to avoid my shots. Very challenging game and easy to understand. Maybe a few short, this game demands more mechanics to not became boring pretty fast. Maybe some "nitro" or sprint so you could dodge the bad guys when start getting slower, more enemies or even a boss that attack you more quickly if you have a lot of points. Good work.
With more polish the HOLD mechanic could be a great add to the tetris classic. The pieces are very difficult to fit together tho. Overall, good work.
Very very solid game. Superb art direction, the city is rich and the traffic made it feel alive. A great clone of crazy taxi but with a twist. The controls are a bit subpar and it drags from the experience as the bike is really fast and difficult to control. With some polish on the controls and the directional arrow it could be a great game on its own. Great job!
I'm really impressed, this game is fun and challenging. When you start advancing you start to comprehend why it fits the theme, well done on that. Really imaginative and the puzzles make good use of the mechanics. A more explanatory tutorial would be great tho, i need some time to figure that i need to click on the crocodile to start playing and were clicking and pressing buttons like crazy. The wall jump mechanic need some work, i find it difficult to use and detracts from a very well done control scheme. Very good work.
The split screen mechanic is very clever! The game fits very well with the theme and you manage to get a pretty decent game around the core mechanic. As the people are commenting, the controls don't fell very responsive but it seems that it is something that is easy to polish. Good work!
You cannot put anything that is not made by you on the 48 hour period on a compo game, even if it is public or free. You put art and music that is not yours so this is a jam game.
The concept is interesting and the combat mechanic is well executed. The game lacks some explanation of how the gold mechanic works.
@jozgames I think you can change from compo to jam on the game edit page if i remember correctly. Don't worry mate, mistakes happen ;)
This is a great piece of work, i love the mood you set with the art and the narrative. i like the little details you put on this little game. Controls are a bit frustrating, mainly because you don't signal the places where you can stand or not. With some refinement this could be a great game.
Interesting mechanic but it start to lose freshness pretty fast. You manage to put a lot of content on the game in so little time! Great work on that. The camera and the jumping could use more work. It's a bit frustrating to have to wait so long for the character to land.
Great start for the game, but i fear that i get frustrated pretty fast with the aiming mechanic. It's an interesting mechanic but the procedurally generated levels don't give the player time to learn.
Great concept and good execution. It's a simple game but the mechanics work pretty well. Maybe a tutorial or something that explains how to play inside the game would be better than on a txt. SOmetimes i managed to start painting to tiles at once moving diagonaly and it makes a huge advantage, don't know if its intended. I like the two phase play and that your own tiles could hurt you. Pretty adictive when you reach the later stages. Good take on the theme, great work.
A simple game with obvious execution problems, but it gets the point. I cleared the first wave, and when the second started i got literally swarmed by enemies that crushed me. Can't advance beyond that point.
A little game but well executed. It is stressfull and very challenging and some things could use some polish. The bottom houses are a little difficult to track as the "Hire Cleaner" button is on the way of the eye. The Santas usually join to attack the same house and you can't do anything to stop them and prevent them destroy the house. The game is very punishing (even in the post-compo) and the frustration bar fills very quick. Maybe some time at the start with fewer santas and less frustration could make the player understand the game and plan a strategy. Liked the mood and the drag to select mechanic, pretty decent work mate.
Very great game. Fun to play and with nice pixel-art and sound. Solid work and with good possibilities to make a full game from it.
Great first game for a compo. I like the design of the ship and the way the cargo keeps expanding when you collect the crystals. Maybe is a bit too easy and not very challenging, it's easy to just run over the other ships and collect the crystrals, no need to be cautious or plan an strategy. A little more damage from the other ships and you will force the player to make some decisions on where to attack and where to dodge, something like that. Overall, solid work mate, keep going :-)
Good job completing the game on time :) Kudos for the art, is great. Some comments: 1) The cats prevent me to move, they collide and push the character so the controls are futile. 2) I understand that i need to keep feeding the cats, but i don't know what happens if i don't feed them as they keep coming no matter what. 3) Some sounds or music would be great to keep the game interesting after a while of pushing buttons :)
Keep the good work!
It's a cool idea but it need a lot of polish. First, with so much characters and so little rooms you could play a lot with the killer being unable to kill anybody and it is really boring. Second the characters are very similar and it difficults the game. Overall it's a very good concept and i'm pretty sure that i could enjoy it a lot if some of the problems are resolved.
The best i could manage 75s. It's veeeeeeery difficult to smash the bunnies seems that the hitbox is so tiny that the hammer couldn't hit them, even knowing that is the point what smash them not the other zone. Cool concept tho.
The game is very confusing and started to simply click over everything so i could keep those critters away of the cookie jar. The very thing that made the game stand is the graphics and you confessed that it was from another game, so, i think that the game is not very good. However, you managed to complete a game in time and that is always a good think. Good work. I'm glad you enjoyed the ludum dare and hope you try again next time!
This game is so damn cute :) The graphics are great and the gameplay is simple and enjoyable. Also is very very difficult, at least for my and my lack of coordination, lol.
