Cute characters ^_^
Pretty nice characters. Very good. Gl on LD :v:
Nice little cute game, great entry
Thanks! It was our first Ludum Dare, we had a lot of fun :)
Gameplay was a bit confusing, it was not very easy to tell what would count as a cookie and what wasn't. Very cute game and graphics.
Fun game! I think the cute characters and smooth animations really helped to get into the mood for the mindless clicking lol. Oh, and sound was not working here for some reason
Very cute visuals. I was confused at first though. I thought I needed to let the stars through to get the cookies and keep away the purple swirls. Then I was really confused when other characters appeared and then all ym cookies were gone. But, finally figured it out.
Also, why are you not getting ratings for graphics? I would have voted high for that
@kerr - Thanks for the feedback, we might have to change the tutorial screens to make it easier to understand.
@settings - No sound yet though, we might add it later! I wanna record voice making derp sounds if we are allowed to.
@frozedon - The graphics are partly from another game, so I didn't think it would be entirely fair.
Thanks for playing everyone, we appreciate the feedback.
This game's strong art style belies its relatively weak fundamental gameplay. When you said "clicker game" you weren't kidding - the gameplay consists of incessant, nigh-mindless clicking. Perhaps with a soundscape and more juice this could have been satisfying, but as it was I found myself rather unengaged. I made it to the end, but didn't feel especially accomplished doing so. The damage markers are a nice touch though.
@piscythe - We started with the idea of making something very simple, we still struggled through given the time! Our first time joining LD and all, but we certainly want to update to improve as we can. Hopefully we can include all these great ideas we are getting from the comments :)
Michael Silverman is a monkey boy.
Haha, @michael-silverman hidden talents I wasn't aware of :p
fun lil game! very cute and colorful which is nice in this day of ultra-realistic and grim games. it's nice to see something whimsical and fun. i didn't have any sound at all! i was a little confused with the cursor animation, i felt like i needed to smack the banditos (love that name btw) from above but i think that just pushes them upward and so i eventually was just smacking the empty space between them and the top in order to keep them at the bottom. is that right? anyway i got 8800 cookies, and i think i clicked more in that 5 minutes than any pro starcraft player clicks in an entire competition xD
At first we were thinking of including a specific one bandito one swat kind of move, but opted out for an area effect instead - it makes it easier to swat multiple at once without worrying much about accuracy (we didn't want to make it frustrating). Thank you so much for playing it @antonymity! You got a pretty bad ass score right there, total Cookie Senpai!
@ghostlygurustudios this is a gif of Say and me making the game:

As you can see we almost stopped the plumber.
Hi sayomgwtf, thanks for your amazing review and comment about our game Interview at Cacophony. So i want halp to rate your game and downloaded from itch.io, unpacked it, and started it. I started by cllicking around on the ground in the beginning. Thereupon the 3 remaining cookies moved to the star, but nothing else happened. So thought I have to wait for a while. After about 2 minutes were still no more then these 3. Then I have a Restart or Quit Button searched, in vain. At the second start, I did not clicked the ground in the beginning, and there were 6 cookies. These ran up and that was it. There were no others.
here is what i saw after 2 minutes: pic.png
I like the graphics and it looks very cute, but unfortunately there seems to be a bug there. Also, a restart or quit but would be nice in Windows executable :) I sugest also that a deployment for the Unity WebGL would certainly be helpful, it lowers the inhibition threshold for many to try a game.
maybe iam doing somthing wrong?
@christoph THANKS for posting this, I'll get on fixing all this right away! You have to click on the banditos 3 times to get them to stop eating your cookies but there might be an error there I'll look into. Seems the tut wasn't clear to a bunch of people which is always a tough part of game design for me.
Yea, look into the code. Id dont know how long we can update files in ludum dare. In my second and third try i did not do anything and just waited. But only the 6 spawned cookies from the beginning are there. Is this also happening on your machine? Are your 2 download links different?
but the banditos are cuteh! :3 cute game
Ahh omg, iam so sorry, there is no bug at all :)
I'm so stuiped, all of the small figures are bandidos and i need to catch them all to get to next level. I thougt that there are 2 differend kind of figures they i need to seperate^^
Now everythink makes sense and it so soooooooo cute.
@christoph no worries, tutorials are the hardest thing to make work in game design imo! Thanks for posting because it will help us make it more clear.
Nice and very cute game :3 Love the art style!
Hey @christoph! So kind of you to stop by and check out our game! Thank you so much for the feedback, we barely had any chance to play much of it before submitting our entry, so it helps a bunch :)
@didigameboy - The cutest cookie thieves out there, haha - thanks!
@nivbeth - Cookie cutes are the best kind of cutes, thank you so much :)
Super cute style! Reminds me of the fly swatting minigame in Mario Paint :) Very polished overall, pretty impressive work!
Aw, thank you! Also, thank you so much for stopping by @wildgamut :)
Nice art, smooth movement and nice sounds and music. But I don't think this was my kind of game -- didn't feel like continuing after completing the first two levels.
@elemel - What do you think could improve the gameplay? We are open to ideas! We appreciate you taking the time to check out our game tho, thanks :)
Cute game! I would've loved some sound (It didn't seem to be working for me if there was some) and I liked the concept. I didn't like that the banditos seemed to flail around randomly once hit, but that added to the challenge. Nice job with the theme!
Thanks @marjoriep The web build on itchio has some audio but we couldn’t add it before the deadline sorry about that!
Very fun art style! I loved the attention to detail with having different expressions on the banditos! It's a shame you are not allowing ratings on that :( The gameplay is definitely lacking something. I've nothing against lots of clicking, but I think it needs some variety - occasional opportunities to clear the wave in a click, power ups to increase your area of effect or change the mode of play, things like that. Also, more immediate and rewarding feedback for successfully cleared banditos would probably help the game feel better - currently they just disappear...
Congratulations on completing your first LD!
@randomhuman - That's a bunch of great ideas! We realized that we could have probably done a bit more with the gameplay right after we started getting some feedback here on the thread. That's kinda why we appreciate the comments, we keep on learning and we can certainly do better next time :)
LDJAM is crazy, though. We never thought we would make it on time, but we're so happy that we did! Thanks a lot for playing and dropping some cool feedback our way <3
@randomhuman thanks, we never would have made the deadline if 100% of the art was done in 2 days! I think a shop with power ups like you describe might be the best improvement to give it a bit more depth but time was a factor.
Music and graphics were impossibly cute. The take on the theme was good, and gameplay felt solid. I noticed a minor exploit, though, which is that you can just limit the clicking area to right next to the cookie jars and you can pretty much beat the last round, no need to chase around the banditos. I think that could be sorted out easily by having different jars on different positions on the room. Also, an indicator of how many waves are left on the level might be a good addition.
Congrats on your first LD (especially having pulled such a good entry!). I hope you enjoyed participating!
PS: I got 12079 cookies and my mouse hand is a bit numb now
the concept is far from simple to put in place and it was necessary to think about it. Bravo!
This was a fun little game, I could definitely see myself playing this on my phone! It would be a good time waster, maybe adding a powerup shop and a slew of little boss banditos would turn this into a full fledged game. You guys did a great job!
@ithildin thanks for playing! We wanted to make different kinds of levels and layouts but time hit us. Maybe we will make an updated version with some more advanced gameplay.
There is a coherent mood and feel to the audio and visuals. I read some of the other comments, and I don't know what people didn't understand. Maybe I played the game wrong, but I won:

It seemed very straight forward to me. The clicking did get a little redundant, as I found the best strategy was to just constantly click at the nearest wave of banditos. Anyway, congrats on your first jam! I'm in the same boat - first jam - and 16 hours in, I wasn't sure if I was going to end up submitting anything at all, and ended up starting over from scratch. So, I know the feeling, but you persevered!
@ithildin - Thank you! We sure had a lot of fun :) Good eye on pointing out that little exploit, we might work around it to fix that. Also, grats on 12k cookies! The best I've done myself is around 10k haha :p
@dimesto52 - Thanks for the kind comment and checking out our game!
@miggyg - We've been thinking tons of how to add a bit more fun to the gameplay, and the idea of the shop was something that both @michael-silverman and I think might work for sure! Thanks for playing and for the feedback :)
fun little game with cute graphics
@cubeeo! - Thank you for stopping by :D LDJAM was far more stressful than I thought it would be, in between the time and all the details to judge for it, I had no idea what we were doing at first but so glad we made it anyways. Also, congratulations on becoming a Cookie Senpai! And thank you again for checking out our silly clicky game :)
@nervous-composers - Thanks!
Fun little clicker, really cute graphics and nice music. Not very deep, but I don't think is really meant to be. Great job for the jam.
Really cute game idea! Loved the graphics. The only feedback I have is to maybe add "Waves" that way the player knows how many times it will start over for that level. Great job!
The game is very confusing and started to simply click over everything so i could keep those critters away of the cookie jar. The very thing that made the game stand is the graphics and you confessed that it was from another game, so, i think that the game is not very good. However, you managed to complete a game in time and that is always a good think. Good work. I'm glad you enjoyed the ludum dare and hope you try again next time!
wow, nice entry! Movement was so good, graphics fit in very well! I kinda also felt that the gameplay was a bit confusing. I wasn't sure how to play it correctly, I was just clicking everywhere and it seemed to work :D Good job!
@jfraser314 - You're right, we were hoping to participate with a cute short fun game. But we got a bunch of cool feedback from everyone, we might revise the gameplay and include some of them in the future :) - Thanks you so much for playing and commenting!
@cupcake - Thank you! That's a good idea, we will try to include that info somewhere in there :3
@creativewhisper - I am the artist for this game. The only graphic assets I reused from the other game are: the actual Matchy Star character and the stars (which we named as cookie banditos for fun). Everything else, from the into screen, the logo, the color palette, the kitchen, and every other vectorial asset you do see in there, just as the general design for the game - are entirely original. Matchy's Kooky Cookies was born as a derivative idea of a larger IP from Silverware Games called Matchy Star. @michael-silverman and I decided to join in LDJAM last minute, so I did have only two days to do that after all. We loved participating in this, and we hope to get a chance to do it again! Thank you for playing our little silly game :)
@tulipekoni - Click all 'em things! Haha. We updated the build yesterday and the tutorial was one of the things we tweaked. Sounds like there is still room for improvement, which is why your feedback is so helpful - so thank you so much for playing and reaching out to us on that <3
Everyone realize that @sayomgwtf did great art for this game just not the characters, and frankly she is so good that it wouldn't be fair to lesser teams to let her compete directly :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
I missed some feedback on the area they shouldn`t be in. I didnt know if they were stealing my cookies or not!!!!
But anyways, I`m now a COOKIE SENPAI =D Enjoyed the music and the feel of the game, really nice execution.
Screenshot_20.png
Haha, @michael-silverman you dork!
@maybe - Glad to read you enjoyed the game :) We originally wanted to include more moves to the swat and the banditos, but because of time, we kept the core mechanics instead (that's why you get to swat everywhere in the kitchen, we put the grid first and all) Grats on being a Cookie Senpai! And thank you so much for playing <3
Wow, that was a test of endurance! My pointer finger hasn't had this much exercise since Diablo 1! ;)
I think a game more about aimed clicking and reactions would be a little bit more interesting (and kinder to your users' poor fingers), if that's in your wheelhouse.
@ddrkirbyisq thanks for playing, at some point we might add in some more strategy and tactics but 36 hours is a challenge!
For sure! Congrats on your game :)
Nice graphics, cute vibes all around! But it was a bit too much clicking for me. :) It would have been nice with some alternate levels in between maybe? I also didn't get the instructions and thought you were supposed to let the stars have the cookies. Really nice first LD though! It felt smooth and polished! Well done!
Thanks @rolle I think one idea we have floating around is a shop where you can buy come passive defenses that don't require you to click so much. We also thought of having Matchy, the big star, be able to make faces or fart to blast all the banditos back. Thanks for playing!
Great art in this game! Like others have said, I didn't realize that all of the little guys were banditos, especially since one of them is a star like the main character. The little guys looked adorable and they love cookies, so it just seemed wrong to smack them all. Plus, in the games description you said not to be too rude about protecting cookies, so I guess it's ok that I let the little banditos get all the cookies.
Thanks @differentname! Those banditos sure are cute :)
Quite exploitable tactic is just to spam clicks 15 pixels bellow the star -- enemies won't be able to get there due to repel force. I think this could be solved by adding more tough and heavy enemies (rare one). Or you can always place the second (or third) location for cookies. So there will be two 'bases' to defend.
I like the large swarms of enemies at round 3 -- fighting with them is pretty rewarding and satisfying.
Thanks for playing @icxon
It works to spam right at the cookie jar but it clears the banditos a bit faster if you are more proactive. The more you clear the higher the score, so waiting for them to get to the jar isn't optimal but I think a lot of people go that route.
We are thinking about doing a version with more advanced tactics and different kinds of enemies but we didn't have time in the first version.
